Amazing service and food! my favourite spot for greek! Love the patio!

Bullshit pasta. We ordered take out from here on the weekend cuz we get lazy on the weekend and still haven't found a place that delivers breakfast, and usually breakfast ends at restaurants before we get motivated and out of the house so suddenly we're ordering dinner .... anyways, we ordered from these guys cuz we haven't found a good pasta place that delivers in the West End yet. We ended up waiting for TWO HOURS for our delivery. We called them back after an hour and they said that it should be there in ten minutes or so, and we were watching TV so we didn't notice how long it had been and we couldn't really use our growling bellies as a clock. We called them back a second time and they told us that their delivery driver had gotten into an accident and was in the hospital. Ok, fine that's not your fault, but couldn't you have picked up the phone to let us know WHY we were waiting so long so we wouldn't have to call and harrass you? In any case we got our pasta finally and it was so disappointing after the long wait. They didn't charge us for it, which was very nice, but it was lukewarm, and completely bland. I mean, anyone can cook up spaghetti noodles and slap some basic tomato sauce on it right? That's what we got. Even the garlic bread was pathetic, it was cold and not even garlicy. Balls. Save your cash and make your own pasta, it will be hot, quick and probably more exciting than this, plus your neighbours will wonder why your windows are all steamy. read more

Kicked OUT!! My wife is in a wheelchair and is accompanied by a BC provincial registered service Dog. She presented ID and the Guide Dog Act but was told to leave as service dogs are not welcome in that restaurant , sanctioned by the government or not. (Fines are VERY stiff for refusing a registered service animals). Patrons where quite upset that we where asked to leave by the manager. We also where upset so we GRATEFULLY left and NEVER TO RETURN. Previous visits (without the guide dog) presented challenges for people with disability's. The front doors are to narrow for a wheelchair to enter without unlocking and opening the double door. The ramp is to steep for a manual chair to make it up with out help. Its possible to get in but there is not much room inside. The bathroom was in poor repair and stinks. Its not wheelchair accessible at all The tables have pedestals so a wheelchair with foot plates cannot pull up close to the table. Not all was bad. I have had much better Greek food but its not bad. (We didn't get sick) The prices are a bit high for the quality of food you get. The Greek salad was tasteless. The chicken and beef dishes was decent but the quantity was really lacking. Shrimp almost every time has been very rubbery and the calamari is rubbery and tasteless. There are good and bad nights, we understand that but for the price you pay it s not worth it. One of my favourite Greek restaurants in town. I don't know what's all the hype over that Stepho's joint? Because Olympia is just as good, if not better, minus the crazy line up and all. The specials are about 10-11 bucks and you get souvlaki, lasagna type of menu. I think most regulars come for take out because they knock off 10% or something (just a guess, don't quote me!) and take out orders were just revolving around the door. TL;DR - PIZZA only! I live around the corner from Olympia so I eaten a lot of pizza from this place. I 99% of the time go and pick it up because I'm embarrassed to have it delivered when I live that close. Ok ok so, once or twice I have had it delivered because I was too lazy (hung over!) to move. There was no problem with the delivery service or timing except my previously mentioned embarrassment for being lazy AF. The pizza here is off the wall good. It is delicious and rich, it is the absolute other side of the spectrum from thin crust. The crust is crunchy, the cheese is literally dripping off and you can actually taste the toppings. My favorite is the Greek Pizza from the specials menu, also an unhealthy nod to the Cheese Supreme. As for the rest of the menu, I am not the biggest fan of Greek food in general so I would seriously just stick to the 'za. If you have to roam the menu for something else, the calamari is above average and the baked pastas are passable. The in-house service is hit or miss. read more

I am still not sure how I feel about the combo of Greek and Italian..and I never have had anything other then the Greek options...but I am a fan none the less.. If you are on a budget and want a good meal and lots to eat then Olympia is a good option for you...if you like Greek..and Italian apparently?? I usually order the same thing, the chicken souvlaki or the lamb..both come with tons of rice, Greek style potatoes and pita...always good and very filling.. If you order for take out you get even more food...just a tip... The ambiance is what you;d expect..murals on the wall and columns and such..zippy Greek music..and a bit of an Italian edge with the decor...you'd just have to see it to understand it... read more

I come here for the lamb. Period. Okay, and maybe a few other things too. Not usually one to trust a menu that is more than a couple of pages, I somehow think it's okay here. They may offer a lot of dishes, but each is made with same basic ingredients -- take out a chicken here, add an olive there, stick a pita with it, and voila! New dish! And unlike some other (very popular) Greek joints in the neighbourhood (who shall remain nameless), Olympia actually knows how to treat a side dish. Un-mealy potatoes, acceptably sized veggies in the Greek salad (with fresh cheese! Imagine!), and fresh rice pilaf that somehow reminds me a bit of something my grandma who didn't cook would make. Olympia is exactly what a Greek restaurant should be: slightly tacky, mostly outdated Greek-themed decor, thin and acidic boxed wine, fresh olives in the salad, and amazing roast lamb. read more

My favourite restaurant for take away, the lasagna is insane and they have fantastic pizza. I love this place and I'm not even a fan of Greek food. Great patio, it is one of the best on Denman street. I can't give it five only because the service and on rare occasion the food is off for whatever reason. read more

Worst place ever! They have white girls who send the black chefs to "ok" us to get our order. That was my first experience there after many years. Worst service ever! The staff is extremely rude and unhappy Now this second experience was a take out order. When I asked to speak to the mgr the uppity white girl behind the till said no one is here and then told me to sit down to wait for my order but said it so fast and so Rudely it made me cancel our order. Will not be going back! Even tho I live next door. They don't treat the customers very well takes like 45 mins to be served and they have no customer service skills whatsoever. This place only exists from their past glory. As most establishments in downtown the quality is lacking. You would get better service at a place in Surrey. Also I wouldn't go there if your not Caucasian or a bougie gay professional. We went to the falafel place next door and was treated very well! Not sure how these people run a business with such poor service as the food is mediocre Greek food. read more

Another one of my mainstays. Always good. No fail. But don't start ordering pasta here. It is after all Greek. I only ever order two things-- calamari or the small beef souvlaki dinner. Honestly, the only thing small about the small souvlaki is the price. My dinner companion-- usually some hungry man, usually orders roast lamb. It's always done to perfection. And when the sun comes out, they even have a patio. East facing, but...at least you're outside. Good beer, wine...the house wine will do (don't go Greek here), skip the sangria. If you don't believe in gaining one pound a year until you're dead at the ripe old age of 60, then you'll eat only half your meal and have the rest for lunch the next day, and you'll still be full, happy, and looking forward to many more meals at Olympia. I almost forgot, great pizzas! Well, the Greeks can make pizza. Let's leave the pasta to the Italians, Chinese, and Japanese (they make good pasta in Japan!!). read more

Love their pizza! Tried it last time we were in Vancouver and was so impressed, we were thankful we remembered it when we came back. The crust is crisp and light - more like Chicago-style pizza. The combination of ingredients (i.e. sauce, cheese, etc.) is just like I like it - not too much or too little and ALL their toppings are fresh and de-lish! Plus, the fact that they deliver and the pizza is still "HOT & FRESH" is a big plus! Definitely a 'mainstay' for when we're in the Vancouver area! read more

I just had dinner here, my friend and I waited to be seated .. And waited, then got a good table on the patio, so were in a good mood... Then the humourless server came to take a drink order, 30 minutes, wilted drinks arrive, we order pizza, which, I assume, came from Mount Olympus... 45 minutes at least. Luckily we were enjoying our catchup and not paying close attention to the time .. I asked for a dip, 3 times... Had to go and search for help once, and got horrific attitude from the unhappy girl who was meant to be our server. The pizza was fine.. But we were there probably 2.5 hrs and that still didn't seem adequate. Never again. read more

We go here most Tuesdays nights as they have a special on Lasagne. Great tasting and great price. Comes with a salad and garlic bread. Very Homey and satisfying. Must try some other dishes soon but the lasagne gets me every time!! read more

Vancouver is fond of its Greek/Italian hybrid restaurants. And I bet they're all owned by Turks :) This place is a total hole in the wall, but it always seems to hit the spot whenever you need it. The pizza wouldn't fly in New York - the crust is a bit too dense. But the pizza spends a proper amount of time in the oven, and the cheese and toppings are of high quality. The greek food isn't bad either. The lamb doesn't melt in your mouth as it should, but it's tasty nonetheless. Olympia serves hefty portions for low-low prices. It's not worth making a special trip, but good if you're in the neighborhood. And it beats that overrated Stepho's place :) read more

This cosy little place offers good, homely food at a reasonable price and in a nice setting. The atmosphere is very relaxed - the servers are friendly but don't try to engage you with too much chatter, which is a good thing in my books. The restaurant is decorated nicely in a pretty authentic Greek style, with accompanying Greek music to match. The food is definitely satisfying. The grilled chicken with rice, potatoes, pita, salad and tzatziki will set you back about $14 and comes with TWO large chicken breasts. It would be nice if they offered a 'small' option with only one breast, as a lot of the other Greek places around the West End do. I'm told the pasta is also great. The drinks are fairly priced and they can put together pretty much any kind of cocktail you ask for. They once made me a Paralyzer that came in a full pint glass. Excellent. read more

This place satisfied my cravings for Greek style pizza i a big way. The crust is nice and crispy, the cheese generous and the sauce is so flavourful! They gave me an estimate of an hour to an hour and 20 mins as it was Valentine's day, they got here in around 50 minutes so I was quite pleased. Thanks for being there in my time of need! read more

Value for money is good, but I don't know if it is exactly what they were going for. Let me explain. At 10 PM tonight, after a long session of working, I was getting hungry. I didn't want pizza or asian, which there are a lot of in my area, so I opted for Olympia. Olympia, if you may or may not know, was in the middle of a large controversy as they carried the Olympic rings logo, which they've carried for years. In the Olympic's eyes, that is a crime, a very bad thing, a copyright infringement at the least. A no-no. Anyway, I went straight in, the sign said to find a place to sit, so I did. I sat down and waited for someone, but then I saw a menu. I picked one up and started looking through. I was one of about 10 people in the restaurant. I finally got the manager or owner guys eye, and we established what I wanted to eat as it was $9.99 pasta night. I decided on a spinach tortellini with house salad and house red wine. Sounds good right? I got my wine, which was totally fine. I immediately got my house salad which was fine and acceptable. I got my pasta dish about 10 minutes later, which was fast. I was surprised, however when I dug into my pasta dish and found about a pound of CHEESE on top of my pasta! It was a baked tortellini, but seriously, it was a LOT of cheese. I tasted it, and I tasted cheese, a very salty meat sauce and something that kind of resembled pasta at the bottom. I have a saying on my profile saying that I'm cheesy, but actually, I really am now, as I've eaten this meal! At one point, I pushed all of the salty meat and cheese away from the pasta, and tasted it alone (after a wine pull) and it was very tasty, although I don't think it was made there (costco? Or maybe even the No Frills market next door?). But really, there was more cheese and meat sauce than pasta. I must had half a brick of cheese on it. I mean, I like cheese and all, but this was quite overkill. A sprinkle would have been worth it with a less-salty version of the hamburger sauce. The service was great, the ambiance was fine, and from what the menu said, the drinks were inexpensive. I'll go back, but not for that dish. I don't know how "greek" it is. Lower case "G" but I go there often late nights, well, not that late, 10-11 is still OK most of the time. I usually order the same pizza, and I recommend it to you - my own recipe: small: double pepperoni, double salami, extra garlic, tomatoes, mushrooms, extra tomato sauce. don't know if I'm getting it, (because the extra topping charges often don't reflect it) but it tastes pretty good, although I have had the weirdest after-burps + indigestion. It's about $13.50 for a small. With a glass of wine you're still under $20. There are a lot of items under $10 on the menu. They use pretty OK cheeses. I also like the "greek" salad, but not sure of its authenticity. Expect so-so, below-standard service - or is that standard now, in Vancouver. I like it but I don't love it! read more

I did not have enough time to prepare my lunch last night so I decided to eat here today. The 10.95 lunch specials and the fact that it had been a while since my last Greek meal helped guide my feet thru the door. I got there at about 12:30 and I was really surprised. There were only a handful of people there and only one waitress. In my mind I was asking myself "what had I gotten myself into?". The waitress was nice and helpful. She checked on me a couple of times and even refilled my water before I even asked. Now the food. I decided to try the roast lamb. The pita was fresh and warm. The tziziki was a little to dense. I pretty much had to use a fork to scoop it out onto the pita and lamb. The Greek salad was tasty and fresh. I could really taste the feta. The rice was also tasty but not as sharp or strong as others I have tried. The lamb was tender. I didn't have to do much to make the meat fall off the bones. The flavoring was good but again it was not as sharp or strong as the others I have tried. Over all an excellent value for 10.95 read more

There is a massive pile of meat on the meat lover's pizza with a layer of pepperoni, back bacon, Italian salami, Italian sausage, ground beef. Sounds like a typical meat lovers list, but there was a full layer of each on it. Each slice was like a lunch meat sandwich. The delivery was fast and courteous. This joint is a Greek/Italian hybrid really hits the spot. Full disclosure: I am an Italian and Greek myself so I can judge these higher. read more

Can you get more Greek than a restaurant named Olympia? Zorba-sized portions of pita and hummus, chicken souvlaki, lamb kebabs and beef souvlaki are served in a room wtih checkered tables and walls that have blue skies painted on the walls, including the white buildings one would see if they went to Santorini and sat on the beach. I'm not sure why there is pizza and pasta on the menju as last time I checked pizza was a Napolitan thing. But anyhow, it's consistent, good and filling. read more

The servers at Olympia are awesome and if the customer that posted a complaint about her server; we are hardworking people that deserve respect. Those that don't appreciate us should put themselves in our shoes dealing with the few customers that are never satisfied. 99 percent of the customers at Olympia are like family. And as far as tipping goes when you get a free lunch and only leave 4 % but stay for 2.5 hours that is not honorable. read more

I went with a friend to Olympia Pizza & Pasta Restaurant, 998 Denman St, Vancouver for dinner today. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! We arrived at 5:00. There were only two other tables that were occupied. We were seen, but NOT acknowledged at all. We sat there waiting. NOBODY came to offer us any water, nor to give us a menu. Again, WE WERE SEEN! The staff appeared to be busy with gossip, discussing manicures, or whatever non-productive nonsense they were doing. We even saw one person help herself to some wine, and another helped himself to a beer. During all of this time, we were IGNORED! After ten minutes of waiting, we got up and left. One of the nitwits looked at us quizzically as we were leaving. Do they think we'll wait for their nonsense? This place USED TO BE good. Not anymore, it isn't. We then went to Ukrainian Village Restaurant. We were approached in less than one minute, the service was attentive, and it was friendly. read more

This is another neighbourhood gem - it's cozy, comfortable, and laidback, just what people who live in this area want. The servers are not in your face, the wine is cheap, and the food is really good. We always get the lamb roast and the moussaka, each dish is huge with herbed rice, roasted potato, salad, and side of hot pita. There's never a huge lineup like Stepho's, but you also don't get treated like a herd of hungry cows. Sometimes you just want a good, delicious, hot meal in a relaxed setting without worrying about how you're dressed or how much alcohol you're supposed to order. We've never tried the pasta or pizza dishes here. read more

I tend to compare greek places to Stephos. The advantage to this place and any other is that you don't have to wait in line and you won't feel rushed. In return it will cost more and the kitchen is slower so it may even take longer before you end up eating. Overall this place was fine, had the roast lamb, calamari and baked cheese. The calamari was not so great, looked and tasted like something from a bar instead of a greek place. Everything else was good and as expected. read more

Okay, right up front, I like Olympia and their food. However, that being said I hate ordering from them over the phone for delivery. I ordered 4 items from them tonight, and when I was done there was this big hurry on their part to end the conversation. I never got the chance to ask how much is my order? How long will it take to get to me? My thoughts about Olympic restaurant located at the west end of Vancouver on Denman and Nelson Streets... I have lived in the area a number of years and as a customer I have given a fair amount of business to this restaurant... today I was refused service from Olympic restaurant... my friend had placed an order for a pizza as she was hungry and gave my phone number in reference so that Olympic restaurant could phone us when it was time to pay for the deliver on her order.. I then received phone call back stating that we were not good customers based on how many complaints we had made in the past... I believe that everyone has the right to make a restaurant eyewear if they do not provide their customers with good service... for example one day I ordered seafood alfredo... when it I arrived it was barely warm and the sauce was the consistency of alfredo sauce that they could have purchased from a food store like no thrills across the street from them... it was very thin not rich and creamy like what you would consider from a top quality restaurant where you pay a good price for what you get... the only thing I got back in compensation for this was a $6 credit that has never been claimed or used.. one time a friend of mine ordered two large spaghetti dinners with meatballs... she paid for the order and when it arrived there was no meatballs in either order... I went back to Olympic restaurant and ask them to check the bill and providee her with the two orders of Meatballs that were missing in the orders... after some conversation they finally provided her with the two orders... I have been told by my friend that the owner of the restaurant is quite a gracious fellow and is quick to clear up any misunderstandings... But in this case that leads me to believethat it is possible that if complaints are made that the staff at the restaurant me receive some disciplinary action from the owner... it is a sad thing when a restaurant Tim received poor reviews based on the fact that there is poor service that has been brought to their attention so that they can become better hosts to their customers... it is my hope that if you read this article you will consider what I have said when thinking about going to this restaurant... I will only change this review upon receiving an apology... we have lots of fantastic restaurants in the West End... the fact that you have to pay cash and that you cannot pay by debit or credit leads me also to wonder if there is other issues going on.. like leaving many sales out so that they can claim Los business expenses Houma Canada Revenue Agency call that maybe the government takes a close look at them pyramids as there's no way when you pay cash thank you can follow the money Trail. seems to me with covid there are many restaurants that would like to have business... so I hope you enjoy your eating at the West End... read more

This used to be my favorite pizza place. Sadly, their commitment to service has diminished greatly. Excitedly, we reached out tonight for 2 pizzas and some calamari. We specified the card we wanted to pay with at the time of order and the employee confirmed it was accepted. We ordered at 6:58pm and were told to expect delivery in 45 minutes. At 8pm we called back. Our delivery had just left 15 minutes late. No apology. At 8:25pm our driver called, lost. I went to the gate and found him on the street. His machine did not work. On three different debit and credit cards. They all presented errors. And the driver left, more than 90 minutes after we ordered, with our dinner. When I called to complain the operator told me that the problem was with my card and not Olympia Pizza. 35 minutes later my first card was accepted by #panago without issues. read more

Olympia delivered a lousy pizza. Barely warm when it finally arrived. Crust was like cardboard. Do not recommend.

We ate here last night. It was busy. This restaurant is small and has a small patio on the side facing the busy street. We ordered a souvlaki and moosaka plate. Took a long time for food to arrive but it was worth the wait! The souvlaki was just one skewer with plenty of rice and two small sides of Greek salad and tsaziki. The moosaka was tasty and flavorful. My boys ordered pizza and they ate it up. I recommend this restaurant if you're in the mood for good GREEK food in the Vancouver area. read more

Walked by this place dozens of times but never went in. Finally tried it and was glad that I walked by it dozens of times and didn't go in. Had the calamari lunch. I love calamari but this was weak. Breading did not taste good, the tzatziki was bland. Potatoes were way undercooked and flavorless, gave me an upset stomach later in the day. Service was poor. I have heard their pizza is good, but the Greek food is not their strong point. Maybe will try the pizza sometime, but probably will not be back soon. read more
