Been going to this diner for years. I understand the state of the economy and costs on the rise. However the prices here are absolutely ridiculous. I ordered 2 salads and chicken wings for take out and it was over $80. Come on now. Give me a break. Talk about a business taking advantage of a horrible economic condition. Used to go here every week for over 15 years. They used to have excellent food, prices & portions (enough for leftovers), however now the food is meh, the portions have shrunk and the prices are ridiculous! I understand inflation, labor costs, etc but Olympic has gone downhill sadly. The younger waitstaff are not as friendly and are apathetic- not at all like the long time long gone staff. We were looking for a quick something to eat and this popped up here on Yelp as a nearby place. I was immediately happy because I saw that it had outside seating and the wait staff were wearing masks. We sat under a giant tent, tables were placed far apart and the waiter brought paper menus. I ordered a Greek salad which was very good. All vegetables were fresh and the dressing was good. My friend ordered chicken Cesar salad and he liked his as well. If someone took a look at the pics for Olympic Diner they might think I went here in the 1950's (sorry, wasn't alive for a few more decades). But that's not the case. Instead, let's discuss a trip to this vintage spot only a handful of months ago. Located along Deer Park Ave, this diner is hard to miss (bright, nostalgically-themed lights and design). For years I had seen it and wondered about its interior, until I finally had the opportunity to visit with good friend and Yelper, Aarti R., for some dinner. Once inside, things actually don't look as vintage as one might expect. There's a nice balance of contemporary and old school dining going on with modern seating, while at the same time you'll see plenty of tin lunch boxes scattered about the entrance as well as some nods to classic cars within the wall decor. A best of both worlds. Though what really was the best lied inside Olympic Diner's menu. Yeah, it holds your usual diner selections, but there's quality afoot. I say this after devouring a burger that rocked my socks (as much as a pair of socks can be rocked). Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the French Onion Burger. Take a juicy beef patty, add onion rings, mozzarella cheese, and some au jus dip and you'll be sittin' pretty with a real tasty creation. The pickle and slaw on the side were scrumptious while the fries did their job at a diner (a decent accompaniment to that delicious handheld). Everything else about OD fell into place nicely as well. Our waitress was relatively friendly and the price of my godly burger came in at a respectable monetary amount ($13 seems fair to me!). Overall, Olympic Diner gets two thumbs up (and almost five stars) for rockin' the diner scene. It may look like you've stepped back in time once you pull up, but don't let that fool you. I called and was put on hold which I figured they were busy. She came back to the phone and took my order.I placed my order.. chicken finger and fries.. very simple order. I got there to pick my order up and the phone rang..she answered the phone and put them on hold.. yet nobody else was there taking her attention.. she started to text on her phone for a few mins then stopped and decided to take the order. WOW I'm Thinking are you kidding me... my chicken fingers and French fries finally came out... the fries were ice cold and the chicken fingers were so small... not worth the 13 dollars and change at all. He came back with waters and failed to tell us they didn't have root beer. Then, we looked at the lunch menu, the minimum for lunch was $15.95. Wow. 16 bucks to eat lunch? What are you serving with that? Caviar? Holy crackers, i was appalled. On the lunch menu they had a "mini doc salad" for 15.95 but in the regular menu they had it for 15.45....hmmm? Perfect place for good food with the kids. Always seated quickly & served on time. Waiter & waitress always are very attentive. Appetizers are always delicious. Sampler & Nacho. Okay, I have to say I have been coming to olympics diner for YEARS and YEARS. And I used to LOVE it. But lately I feel like they are really overpriced (why am I spending almost $15 on a grilled cheese and $20 on a wrap?). I spend less money going to a nicer restaurant now than I do going to the diner. Plus (atleast with takeout) they charge for all little extras like sauces and such. I also feel like the quality of the food is hit or miss. When I get breakfast I am always satisfied but other things sometimes I'm not happy at all. I just got a veggie panini and it has a weird taste to me that I can't figure out... I feel like I wasted almost $20 on a panini that I don't even want to eat. These guys saved the day ! Was out all day last week and was looking for a place to eat with some friends. Who knew everything closes at 10 these days ? We went to 3 other diners all closed at 9 or 10!! Dix hills, the candlelight, and premier all closed ! What happened to partying all night at The Dublin Pub or Mulcahayhes and ordering an omelet at 3AM ?!?!? ( I'm dating myself) Anyway after complete desperation we headed down DPA and found this place at 10:20PM. They were excellent. We ordered a Ruben, medeteranian wrap which was delicious, and a cheeseburger and onion rings. They nailed it. Brought the food out fast and didn't rush us one bit. Service was so bad it blew my mind. We actually had to flag down other waiters for things like drinks, forks, coffee creamer. 10 minutes for one of my guests to get a fork after his salad was served. Over 20 minutes for my son to get his drink. Over 20 minutes for my guest to get creamer for his coffee. Not to mention the hostess squeezed us in a small both. (3 men over 200 lbs each plus a woman). However a couple that was seated after us had a larger booth. The food was ok and that is best I can say about the experience. Visit Date: October 26, 2018 I came here with my hubby and friends for dinner after seeing my nutritionist. Their lobby was a parent's worst nightmare filled with claw machines and vending machines, there went $10 to $20 to keep my two year old amused during dinner because most of the time he won't sit down in a restaurant. Our waitress was really nice she took my food order and bought it to me superfast because mommy needs food quickly sometimes. My meal however was not a quick one to eat. I ordered zuchinni pasta with chicken and other veggies in garlic and oil. It was delicious but I couldn't eat it as fast as a bunless burger or an omelette. I think my friends and hubby enjoyed their dinner as well. I would come back here it's a pretty swanky diner next time though I'll be prepared to spend a ton of money on the machines for my son. read more

Some places should just be put out of their misery. Once a bustling diner now the level of a nursing home cafeteria. Not sure if they even care what they put out to a customer. My buddy and I purchased omelettes both burned beyond recognition (see photo) Vegetables within tasted funky. Neither our waitress or the register guy asked how the food was. A big No-No in my book! But for obvious reasons I know why they don't ask nor do they want to know. I mean how many complaints can one listen to in one day? Another pet peeve I have is chipped coffee mugs and water cups. My wife and I have been patrons of Olympic diner since 2018. My wife loves the Pene Ala vodka the sauce is abundant and tasty. They make the best fresh hamburgers and French fries. The Salmon is fabulous as well as lamb chops. The homemade chicken soup is made from chicken not bullion and tasty worth taking a quart or two home. The staff is friendly and attentive. Very clean diner with larger portions reasonably priced. We drive seven miles to go there because nowhere else can we find all of these fine qualities. read more

Have been going to this diner since I was a kid when they first opened in the early 80's. For a bit after they renovated the quality of food was going down. They put it in the omelet. They offered to fix it but she chose not to. Another person ordered Salmon with baked sweet potato, yet received a regular potato, which they replaced. Other problems too. Food was just not very good. Menu is just way too large. I'll bet they could cut it by half and no one would complain. Wish I could give 2.5 stars. Our local diner is much better. My grandma and I went to this diner last night. We have been to this diner quite a few times but one of the servers stuck out to me last night. A gentleman named Sam served us with not only with much patience but the upmost kindness as well. Sam carried a caring and welcoming energy. The food was great. I had a Greek salad with shrimp.
