One place is freaking amazing and clean the other is an absolute train wreck (dirty, bad service etc.) This is the amazing one!!!!! You will only deal with one lady and her name is Michelle. This lady is so amazing that my dog pulls me like crazy to go inside, every time we have an appointment. She is a true dog lover and does the best job possible! My dog literally comes out of there looking like he's best in show every single time. She's fairly priced, usually booked a week in advance but always worth the wait. Great price and they gave my dog a really cute and even haircut :) this was my go to place when i lived by DTLA. The salon is in koreatown. Unfortunately, I've moved and don't want to drive so far. They claimed to have filed a claim with their insurance company but it's been 4 months and I have not gotten a response nor have they answered my calls. I was recommended to this shop by my hair designer who is also a dog lover. Not only I love how she grooms, but she is really gentle with dogs. My dog is 14 years old, so I'm picky about how the groomer treats the dog. The owner who is the groomer might be shy in the beginning but she is really nice person and genuine. I trusted this woman with both of my pomz because my friend told me that she goes there but she basically shaved all of their beautiful thick hair off front and back. Recently took little Azumi to this pet hair salon on Saturday, August 22nd at 11:00 AM. I was just shopping around for the best salon because I didn't want to go to Pet Smart anymore. Pet Smart is cheap, but when I used to go to Pet Smart for haircuts, I notice that when they do cut the fur, I would see uneven lines from where their razors would roughly snip off layers so it made Azumi look more disheveled. (So basically I would see jagged and uneven lines along her fur when it's fully dry, kinda like stairs?) But not this place. This place did such an amazing job, I would say that it's worth the drive to come here to get your dog pampered. After you call, you can text her details of what you want for your pet. She told me that the price was all inclusive of haircut, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and anal sac removal. Meeting the groomer in person was excellent. The lady is very easy to work with and she was able to give the cut that I wanted. (It's a small place. When you come in, you can also see an array of treats and accessories for your pet. I didn't ask how much those things were, but maybe next time I'll ask.) Anyway, I told her in my shitty Korean that I wanted Azumi's fur trimmed smooth and short while leaving the tail alone and fluffy. Also wanted the hair around her ears to be trimmed so she wouldn't look so sloppy and I wanted the paw fur trimmed shorter so it's not long and sticking out. The lady understood and took Azumi in. (Also, there's a cute Pomeranian that's bouncing around right by where the magic begins. Must be her pet?) The cut I would say takes about 2-3 hours depending on how big your pet is or what special cuts you require. She texted me when she was done with the cut so I rushed back as soon as I was able to. Oh my god. Wow. They did such a good job. I'm going to come back here for all my pet trimming needs. Also a plus is that they use some kind of...special shampoo or something that made Azumi's fur really soft. She's been smelling amazing for the past few days. I wonder what it is? We will definitely be back. Thank you so much Olympic Pet Shop for doing such a fantastic job on Azumi. TL;DR Best pet salon in Korea Town. One of the best groomers in ktown, and I've gone to a dozen different ones over the past decade with 4-5 different dogs (my own, friends, and family members). Olympic Pet Shop does a great teddy bear face to give a doll like appearance (popular in Korea and Japan). If you don't know what I'm referring to, google teddy bear grooming. Other pluses: they are are super clean, organized, communicative, English speaking, take credit cards, generally on time, and flexible. I asked for a small trim since I wanted my dogs to keep the same style but when I went to picked them up I saw how bad they cut my dog's hair. She was very responsive and kind to me and my pup and treated us very kindly. The store itself is very clean and organized. Prices are very fair for their talented work! My recommendation is that you have some reference photos that would help the groomer understand what you want. Worst groomer ever and they injured my dog. I came to this place cause it's only couple blocks from where I live and the reviews were so positive on Yelp. This place went wrong on so many counts...let me start from beginning. Take a look at all the dog pictures on here. I should have known they specialize in tiny toy dogs (the kind that would fit in a purse). I have a small 20lb labradoodle that looked like a giant compared to the other dogs there...and even the receptionist mentioned disparagingly that he's so big. Strike one. When asked how long I want him cut, I asked the receptionist that o was debating keeping it somewhere between half inch to and inch...and that labradoodles look good with some long parts around their beard and legs/paws. I told her I usually leave 1 inch, and I generally love that look...but wanted to try a tad shorter this time. She immediately grabbed a buzzer and while we were there in the lobby before I could stop her, she shaved a long strip right down his back and said with a straight face, "well that's how half inch would look like, is that ok?" Can you believe it...I was stunned!!! I was like, "well I guess I have no choice now right?". Check out the horribly short hair cut result in the photo. Strike two. They told me to come back in 3 hours, which is perfect cause I was I had to pick him up and be somewhere by dinner. They were and hour late. Strike 3. When I came to pick up, she immediately explained that they "found" a sore by his leg. I promise, he never had a sore...and he continued to lick there for the next week. He had never licked there so much in his life. Strike 4...and this strike made me furious. Really wish I could sue them for that one. Last debacle, I brought him home and guess what...he still smells, basically no hint of bath or shampoo. I didn't notice it at the shop cause I just wanted (and needed) to get outta there. Not sure if it's because they were so booked and they were already an hour late...but that's just no excuse. Half the reason I went there was for the bath!! Honestly...most unbelievably bad experience ever. Makes me never want to trust local dog groomers again. Note...this happened about 4 months ago. His coat finally grew back to the point that I have to take him for a cut...which is what reminded me to write this review. I attached pics of the experience...hope this helps! read more
