I had pretty good experience with Om Moving, it was my first time using a moving team, I usually pack and move myself. Anyways the guys were really nice, my foreman was "Kane", really friendly guy, quick, effiencent and kind. I honeslty thought it would take all day to move all my things, but they arrived at 9am and we were on the road to NJ by 11:30 ( I had a one bedroom apartment, on the top floor of the brownstone). Price was pretty fair, the guys did a ton of work and they never complained and just asked for water. I would recommend them hands down! read more

Om did two moves for us from Brooklyn this spring, one to Baltimore and the other to Lexington, KY. We had the same three workers on each move and all were professional, efficient and careful. Everyone was cheerful and friendly as well, and that means a lot during stressful times. Our move included a baby grand piano! Om's was not the cheapest quote we got, but Om was able to do the move straight through, without holding our furniture elsewhere while waiting for a big truck to come our way. It was completely our move, start to finish, and this is what we wanted. Expect to pay double tolls and to be reminded about proper tipping. Great ongoing communication and perfect certificate of insurance for my building. Efficient troubleshooting when issues arose on my end. Team showed up early and worked enthusiastically and efficiently--and didn't complain about my 5th floor walkup! I also had them pack up my breakables and they did a careful and thorough job. Om Moving - our LIFESAVERS. After a disastrous experience trying to move ourselves from Brooklyn to Boston (Budget cancelled our moving truck one hour before we were supposed to move...), we frantically called moving companies around NYC to see who could move us the soonest. This was on Friday afternoon. Yuval picked up when I called Om and was immediately caring and helpful...he went out of his way to make their schedule fit with ours. He was quick is setting up the whole move by phone and scheduled us in for Monday! On Monday his team arrived earlier than expected and were experts at their jobs, especially Henry, wrapping furniture carefully and quickly. The move was so fast and easy, they even made it to Boston in the SAME NIGHT! It was truly miraculous. All of our belongings arrived in great condition. When Andrew and Akhror unpacked everything in Boston, they had to deal with a 100° heat wave, narrow hallways and stairs in an old house. They knew exactly what to do when our couch almost didn't fit and even had to hoist our bed frame up onto an outdoor porch. I only got in touch with him earlier this month and he worked with me to figure out the best day for price due to flexibility on both of our ends. I am proud to support local business and my move today could not have gone smoother. Ivan, Dennis and David showed up promptly to my UES one bedroom walkup (2nd floor)- surveyed the boxes I packed and my larger pieces. Before I could turn they had the boxes out the door and onto the truck. They worked efficiently on my dresser, lamps, large wall unit, heavy mirror etc and packaged and wrapped with care. They offered to help even with the items I didn't necessarily realize I was taking. Their speed of unloading the truck into a storage unit on Long Island was impressive. Ivan even recommended I could downsize my unit because he could pack everything tighter. The 3 guys work together in a pod and have a way of moving that makes it enjoyable for all. Hands down the best moving experience I've ever had. Another company left me high and dry with an already rented Uhaul. Om came the next day with a 4 man crew and they were just plain awesome. Polite and friendly, while being fast and efficient, the crew was great. The foreman was really good, managed the team really well. The guy managing the truck packing, Gilad, may well have been a wizard. It was perfectly packed, even a several hundred mile drive later, nothing was out of place. We just used Om Moving for a very expensive move (not sure if they are always this pricey, but to be fair, we booked them last minute for a multi-level apartment in NY). After spending the day unpacking their work, I would definitely NOT recommend their services to anyone else, especially for the price point they charged. Cons: The packing was sloppy. Boxes had random stuff thrown together (ie: a 5 lb gym weight from one room mixed with loose car keys from the entryway, mixed with fragile stone coasters without any padding). We had several glasses/bowls that were broken upon unpacking. The boxes were also not clearly labeled at all. The person in charge of the move was nice, but made sure to emphasize several times (to several different people) that 20% was expected for the movers since it was a "difficult move." Pros: The movers were extremely nice and fast/hardworking....and we did give them more than a 20% tip, which was over $1000. Our bad for relying so heavily on Yelp when we were in a tight situation. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. My family sold our house and had to move the day after Thanksgiving. Yuval and his crew made it seamless. I moved from one apartment to a new apartment that was a walkup. Yuval showed up before the move to go through the details. We covered many aspects such as fragile items, items to go to storage, parking, building access, certificates of insurance needed by the building, and big items. My family used Om Moving last week and I am so very happy we used them. My husband happened to meet the owner - Yuval - at at a picnic in Hudson Valley at the start of June. Upon hearing that we were moving, Yuval nicely approached my husband and gave him contact information. Within three or four days, Yuval has visited our home to provide an estimate which, when compared to 4 other estimates I had received, was quite reasonable. Yuval was quick to return a phone call and provide an updated estimate based upon a slightly later moving date. The contract was clear and concise at two pages. On the actual moving day, the foreman came, introduced himself, walked around the apartment with me and discussed what should be packed and what should stay. Then he brought up the rest of the team, introduced them and less than 4 hours later, our three bedroom, two bath apartment was packed. These men were polite, hard-working, good-humored and true professionals. And I should mentioned that Yuval came by to see their work, and make sure I was happy with the move. When we arrived at our new home, the team was waiting. The van was expertly parked to ensure they could unload swiftly and within 90 minutes everything was in the house, in the proper room, and the beds were assembled. There are companies that you hope do well and Om Moving is one of them. Yuval has a great deal of experience within the moving industry and he prides himself on using that experience to provide his customers with a reasonable quote. He also understands that while his quote is important in attracting business, it is his employees - the actual movers - who shape the customer experience. These men are professionals, - they understand two things - it is a stressful day for the clients and they understand how to pack. Not a single item was broken, not a single box went missing, and all boxes were appropriately separated. Price was extremely competitive. If i was to give one critique, it would be that when they packed us up, they could have been a little more specific in labelling stuff and in turn being more specific/targeted with what goes in boxes. We've moved a lot, as in 5 times in the past 8 years. That's a lot of unhappy moves. Maybe it's that we were moving into our first house, or quite possibly that the guys were that amazing, but this was the most seamless move to date. Yuval, the owner, communicated thoroughly with us and even came to check in the day of our move. The movers were kind and engaging, while working hard. Never once did I think, come on, let's go (as in, you're moving slowing because you are hourly). Not a single item was broken or misplaced. I have been meaning to write this review for months and now that I'm again seeking movers, I know that I would never consider hiring Om again. While the crew was courteous and professional, nearly every single piece of furniture they moved was damaged in some way (boxes packed by me arrived safely). instead of taking responsibility for their mis-handling, the foreman diverted the conversation to "figure out what happened" instead of owing up and properly filing a compensation claim. In one case, he actually told me how I could FIX the table leg that THEY broke. As we all know moving is stressful and there's a lot going on, and it's my fault for not following up. But would $50 really fix the fact that there were gouges down the side of my custom build console? Not really. I had to ask them to wrap items that they weren't going to wrap, and I could only imagine what the results would have been then. I didn't feel that it was professional that I had to tell them how to do their job, but as another reviewer said, that sadly seems to be true. Hire at your own risk. read more

It always feels good when you make a good decision in life. We were moving locally - from a Brooklyn high rise to a Brooklyn Home. and we were moving Thanksgiving week. And having OM Movers come and move my family out of our 3 bedroom apartment and in to our new home was a great feeling. I'm the type of guy who would rather save on moving costs and pack myself then grab a few friends to help me move, but let's be honest, this is NYC and it's not easy moving. With Om Moving, everything went perfectly, which can rarely be said for a move. Yuval, the owner/manager, came to my house to survey it, and gave me a detailed estimate. When the move had to be delayed by a couple of days due to real estate closing problems, he was entirely accommodating. On our stifling 95-degree moving day, Juan and his crew were highly organized, friendly, and professional, and took perfect care of all unpacked and untaped items. Here is my review of these movers. The review was removed twice and I am hoping it won't be removed this time since I believe that Om Moving should be out of business. In 2014 we hired these movers. The move was from one area in the West Village to another area in close proximity. We had many very valuable antiques as well as other items that were expensive. In general there was only one of the five movers that day that knew had to wrap the furniture in blankets and bubble wrap professionally. The other 4 movers after seeing there sloppy work were asked not to wrap the furniture. This in itself is a big statement regarding the level of incompetency of these movers, especially the leader who gave us used storage boxes for our designer clothes that smelled of mildew. But this is not the reason that I am making a third attempt to post this review, We had an antique Tibetan Thanka of the Medicine Buddha that I brought from Tibet myself. This Thanka was 300 years old and was rescued from a burning monastery that the Chinese burned down. In addition, I had 4 Asian scrolls of Goldfish that were antiques and a sequential group. The scrolls were packaged by me and handed to the mover to put in the van. When we unloaded the boxes the next day the scrolls were gone. The NYC police department was contacted and a Detective M. was assigned to the case. After a through investigation the complaint was titled Grand Larceny. The New York Special Art Forces was contacted and they have been watching now for months for these items to turn up. All of the movers were called in to the precinct and questioned. In addition a box that I wrapped contained jewelry that was given to the movers. The jewely was stolen as well. The insurance companies were notified and a specialist in Tibetan and Asian Art appraised the work. The Thanka was appraised for $18,000 and the Asia scrolls for $8,000. These were low prices for these items. The insurance company reimbursed us for the most part but I feel that anyone even considering these movers is taking a chance and may be making a very big mistake. He answered all of our questions/concerns and gave us a great deal on the move. Even when the news of a blizzard was on the way, Yuval kept in contact with me to make sure my move would go safe and smoothly while working around my personal schedule. These guys did a stellar job. I only began calling movers three days before my move-out date and everyone was already booked, but one company I spoke with recommended trying Om. I am SO glad I did. The guy I spoke with to arrange the move explained every step and every aspect of the cost and was willing to negotiate the overall price. The movers themselves were quick, kind, and straightforward. They moved all my stuff (including a gianormous sofa) from a 5-story walk-up in Manhattan to a studio in Brooklyn. And when we discovered the sofa wouldn't fit in the elevator in my new building, they agreed to walk it up 6 flights of stairs for $50 extra. Five minutes after I thought they left, I hear a knock at my door and it was one of the movers bringing me a bouquet of house warming flowers! It was such a sweet gesture. Seriously...who does that? One tip: the moving truck arrived like 30-45 minutes early, so I wasn't even done packing when they showed up. The guys actually helped me with the last few boxes and didn't seem to mind that I was so disorganized, but I'd recommend being prepared for them to show up ahead of time. read more
