I have only had a smog check here. So, I needed a smog check ( because of course I did), but I didn't know that until the DMV told me. Luckily, I his place is right next to the DMV. I pulled the car into their lot, someone came up and asked what I needed. He told me to wait at a chair on the side of the building, he took my keys, 15 minutes later smog check complete. I was just driving in Hollywood..car started smoking..water all in engine bay. Cooled down added water..water came from bottom left driver side of radiator. Stopped at this shop. He looked visually and said I need a radiator for my 1999 Lexus RX300. He said radiator $450+Labor$300+Fluid misc.$60+ advised not to drive it. total $900.00. I drove it home slowly, no problem. I've been looking for an honest mechanic here off La Brea and decided to stop in because my car had been shaking and I rely on my car to get my son to and from school everyday. My check engine light was also on and my cars also due for a smog check in Dec so I wanted to take care of it with enough time in case it was serious. These guys are great but unfortunately I can't currently afford the services my car needs right now. They were very understanding and willing to do further diagnosis and fix the problem but understood I could not at this time. Omag's was referred to me by Legit Automotive as they don't work on Jaguars. I took my 2004 XJ8 in for an engine oil leak. After dropping it off in the morning, Omag's calls back in the afternoon and recommends that I don't fix it due to the cost. They said it won't affect drivability and bring it back to them once a month for them to check oil levels. I was shocked by their honesty. They could have easily suggested an expensive repair. Moreover, they said fixing rattles is their "bread and butter!" As an owner of a few older cars, those words were music to my years. They have earned my business for a lifetime. read more

One day I came here for my Fiat & I have been going here ever since. I have been going here for ALL my car needs. Whether it's a SMOG check, oil change, tire patch, new tires, maintenance, etc. AVO IS AMAZING! I knew he was different when I came in and unlike some past experiences at other shops, he was real with me. He would say... "SAVE YOUR MONEY, YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THAT" Or you have 6 months before you have to worry about that. Just do this first, then you can worry about that later. I was thinking, boy this place is different. They are fair & honest and priced very reasonably, ESPECIALLY for their location. Not to mention, their ENTIRE TEAM is like family to me!!!!!! I spent $2378 to finally pass my smog test, I should have cost $1400. friendly mechanics but over priced. People have mentioned this before as they give you back the car after repair work & ask you to drive it & come back to check with them if the car's computer has cleared the error but if it hasn't then they charge you for more work being done on the car. I checked with 2 other places for catalytic converter parts & labor on my car & they quoted me 500 dollars less than this place. Too late on my end unfortunately. I lost another 450 dollars on changing o2 sensors without them being the problem but hey we gambled & I was aware of the gamble! $2378 dollars later I passed my smog test & it took 3 weeks & now I'm in quite a debt for it. Should have cost $1400 at most but hey people take advantage where they can I guess. read more

Omag used to be my go-to guy whenever I needed anything fixed on my Fiat 500. He was efficient, fast and very reasonable. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. My last visit was a complete disaster. I had purchased 4 new tires that I needed installed as well as a smog check for the DMV.When I approached him at 10:30am (after first calling to verify whether it was an appropriate time, which he assured me was indeed), he was far more stressed out and abrupt than I've ever seen him before. His shop is usually quite busy, but it appeared he was now taking more than he could handle. He informed me to just leave my car key in the car and he would call me in a few hours when the work was completed. By 4:45pm, I still hadn't heard from him and decided to check in (I had told him that I needed to be at work at 5am the following morning so I would need to retrieve my car that day). When he answered, he seemed to have no idea who I was, but then suddenly remembered and told me to be at the shop by 5:30 pm. After arriving at 5:30, I had to wait 1 1/2 hours for my car. He told me that a part needed to be replaced below the battery which they removed and replaced after installing the new part. The bill was so much more than I expected (last time I had 4 tires installed, I was charged just over $100). This time, I had to pay over $450 (I was charged almost double what competitors charged for the snag check). However, I thought that my car would be in much better shape based on my previous experiences. As soon as I turned to exit the garage, there was a loud clicking sound coming from below the engine on the axel. Omag said it was just the hubcaps (which I seriously doubted), which he had reinstalled and the sound seemed to go away. However, the sound persisted after leaving the garage and Omag told me to bring it in the following day. When I returned, he just had his mechanics put the hubcaps back on again. I wasn't reassured and Omag had clearly become impatient with me so I just decided to deal with it. The following day, my car wouldn't start. It seemed my battery (which worked perfectly before) was the issue. Luckily, I had a portable jump and was able to jumpstart it, but caused me to be late for work. Upon inspecting the battery, I noticed that three of the nuts were missing from the connectors, leaving the battery connectors loose. He had failed to reinstall the battery properly. At this point, I no longer trusted Omag and just took care of the problem myself, but I feel my car is in far worse shape than it was before he worked on it. I remember Omag had said earlier that he wanted to retire. I feel that, for the safety of any of his customers that is a very wise idea. read more

I went here for a smog check. They seemed nice but werw scammy, and ended up charging me $60 for a smog check that they said I wasn't ready for when they could have checked for that beforehand. I've been looking for a new mechanic for a while and if they would have been decent and checked my cars ability to be tested prior to the test I would have used them whenever I needed a mechanic in the future. Instead, they got my $60 but will never get another cent from me. There are quite a few cheaper places nearby, including ones that will let you test again for free if you fail. Avo is just exceptional at what he does and on top of that the most cool and accommodating kind of guy. Prices are very fair and my car drove like new afterwards. I shopped around before landing on Omags, wanting to find the best price and the best work... and I got both! All of those who I've sent to them have been equally as happy as well. I've gotten quotes over the phone, after an accident with an uninsured driver... which is definitely something that not every mechanic can or will do... I was a little stressed. I bought a salvaged title 2007 bmw and needed to get an interlock device installed so wasn't sure if I could find a legit mechanic that would want to work on the car. I went to the DMV on Formosa and needed a smog and Omag's was the first place I saw so I just went in for smog. Sarkis put me at ease right right with a funny story and then let me know he would work on my car with an interlock device. I decided to come back today for an oil change and asking him to check the brakes as the dude I bought it from said I needed both rotors and brakes. He let me know the brakes are good but the rotors are warped. He could have easily tried to bs me into replacing both and I wouldn't have known the difference but he was true and straight about it. That was huge! Definitely going to be bringing my car here from here on. Sarkis is honest and his guys are too. They did a great job with my car, I still have some other things I need fix. The battery wiring is messed up but I know I can trust them to not screw me over. read more

I went to the DMV right behind Omag's Automotive and they said I needed to get my smog check done before I can get my tag renewed. Because Omag's automotive was so close, I decided to stop by and get my smog check done. They charged me $60 (which is a lot higher than all other places) and after 30 minutes, they tell me that they cannot process my smog check because my "check engine light" was on. This is something they could have told me before the test but of course they tell me after the test and after I paid for the test. I would highly recommend that you stay away from this place. read more

Horrible service. Not only did Sarkis and his team take forever to fix the clutch pedal on my truck, but it was extremely expensive ($2,500) and it broke again after only mild use. I was going to take it back to him to fix it, but then found another mechanic that was a bit cheaper. They fixed my clutch pedal in two days, and when they showed me the clutch pedal assembly that Sarkis worked on, almost the entire shop laughed. I wish I had a photo to show you all, it was the most horrendous welding job I've ever seen in my life. They just welded a washer onto the old assembly and called it a day. Whatever you do, DO NOT COME HERE ! They will over charge you by a long shot, the mechanics are shoddy, and they do below par work. This place is a scam, I recommend going One Stop Auto Care (they did an amazing job, they are cheaper than this place, and they send you an electronic copy with pictures of everything wrong with your car). read more
