I didn't get there as a tweak in the door itself caused my overhead lights to stay on and drain my battery. I arranged for a friend to take me home, expecting to leave the car for at lrast the afternoon. But manager (I did not get hois name) said it would just be a half hour. He called over a ytechnician and 20 minutes later the car was ready! I had some body damage and the manager quoted me a price apologetically, noting that Lexus Parts are super expensive. I said well, it's a 15 year old car - probably isn't even worth the cost of the repairs. I started to walk away and stopped, turned and said, "Wait, I haven't paid you!" And he said, "no charge". I took it in to a place AAA recommended in downtown LA and explain the issue. They told me I needed a new timing chain along with a whole bunch of other stuff and quotes me $4800 for it. This was preceded with a lot of scare tactics on what will happen if I don't have the work done, which came across as very used car salesman-ish. When I ran the quote through ChatGPT I was told they were charging me dealership pricing for an independent mechanic for that type of work in LA. So I brought the truck here to Speedway where I had Minor worked done before and had a good experience. They told me my bearings need to be replaced and did the work for lesson than a quarter of the price I was quoted at the other mechanic. Work was finished in a day and the truck has been running perfectly since then. Had I spent to 4800 at the place it wouldn't have even resolved the issue, which means I would've had to come out of the pocket even more after the initial work was done. Obviously a truck of this age is gonna have some problems and when they inevitably happen again I will be back here at Speedway to take care of them. Highly recommend this place for integrity, quality, efficiency and fair pricing.

The gentleman on the phone said the transmission fluid is for life unless I'm towing or carrying heavy loads. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! I haven't even been to this shop yet and I'm already getting a good feeling about this place. It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

We communicated via text and phone but during drop off and pick up the main guy wasn't around. He shares the garage with someone else and that person helped us when the main guy wasn't there (sorry I can't remember his name). This is a very good repair shop. I went there because my old car had an oil leak problem. I first went to the garage near USC and they quote me like $1,200 for head gasket change. So I decided to find more opinions from different garages and I found Sy's auto repair is a good one. The owner, Sy, is very honest. He and his team checked my car very carefully and suggested that my car's head gasket is still OK. Then he just changed the valve gasket that really causes the leak. And he also changed o-rings. The quote is substantially lower than what I got from the garage near USC. Highly recommended! read more

Back when I lived in Atwater Village, I brought them my old 2006 Corolla. I consider myself a pretty capable DIYer, so if there was ever a problem that required significantly more time, labor, or diagnosis than I could reasonably handle, I took it to Affordable Care. They consistently did honest, high-quality work at fair prices. But what really won my loyalty, and what has stayed with me to this day, was Stacey's EXCEPTIONAL communication and honesty. He had a way of explaining problems that helped me understand both the issue itself and the scope of the repair. One experience in particular left a lasting impression on me. I had a stubborn check engine light that took over a month to properly diagnose after multiple attempted fixes. When they finally tracked it down to a failing charcoal vapor canister, Stacey told me he would not charge me for the part or the labor because of how difficult and drawn-out the process had been and because of the expense I had already incurred. I respected him immensely for that. He more than earned my loyalty. Over the next few years, I brought the car back for other issues, including transmission and clutch work, starter problems, and other repairs. Even after I moved to the San Gabriel Valley in '18, I still fought traffic just to keep bringing my car to them. That says a lot! I have since sold that old, trusty Corolla and now drive an EV. I do not believe Stacey works on EVs, but I genuinely wish there was a Stacey for EVs. Stacey and Charles are, hands down, the best tradesmen I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I am very glad to see from recent reviews that they still seem to be providing the same level of quality and integrity. If you have a Honda or Toyota in need of repairs, you would be lucky to have them work on it.

He immediately went into help mode and checked the battery informing me it was at 87% so not that. Then he connected my car and ran a diagnostic. No codes came up. He didn't see anything wrong. Started the car multiple times with no issue. Said the starter may be going out but didn't want to guess because it could be something else and didnt want to waste my money. Another guy came up while John was checking under the hood. He sent him to look my car up to check if there were any recalls, which I was happy to find out that there weren't. John told me to bring the car back if it happens again. I asked him how much I owed him, fulling expecting to be charged for his time and service as I have had to pay Meidas $200 to run a diagnostic before.
