I Literally just moved into town this morning and was looking for a little diner to grab breakfast. I stumbled across Omelette Express in the quaint little town of Windsor. I ordered the first Omelette on the menu. It was tasty. Not the best Omelette I've ever had, but definitely not the worst. The service was really good, friendly and fast, so it made up for whatever flavor was lacking from the Omelette. The portion size was definitely worth the price. My breakfast at the Omelet Express was surprisingly disappointing against the rave reviews on here. Unfortunately the waitress was a bit lax - she skipped a drink order and confused an entree order (asked for two eggs whites but received an egg white omelet). The potatoes that came with our meals were bland and needed salt. The fruit bowl was frozen and spoiled. Omelette Express has potential just with its location alone, however falls short hitting the mark. You would think, with a name like Omelette Express, that you would be able to choose from a wide variety of breakfast options....Not here. Omelette express does not offer pancakes ,hash browns or even a 3 cheese omelette. Ive had a hit or miss experience. I went with my family before and all of us who ordered french toast, it was cold as ice. Yet I've had other dining experiences were the food is great. I love the breakfast potatoes. I appreciate that they allow dogs in their patio. read more

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Checked google for a good breakfast place. Found these guys. Super nice staff, fast service, coffee topped off, and delish spinach omelet. My wife had a perfectly made eggs Benedict. I don't give five stars much, but they get mine. This is how a business is suppose to run! read more

When we moved to Windsor we pretty much quit going to Don's original location in Railroad Square, so I appreciate him opening a new restaurant here in our neck of the woods. The simple formula of delicious omelettes and service with a smile has been successfully transplanted to the new cafe. If you're going out for breakfast this is THE place to go, bar none. I don't think you'll find a better omelette anywhere in the lower 48. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and of course that super fast and friendly service. The only sticking point is the pricing policy here: Is a plain omelette really worth $9.75? In Windsor? I've been to a number of upscale coffee shops in NYC, Boston and SF recently, and I think the most expensive omelette I saw was about 8 bucks on the Upper West Side in New York. Don't get me wrong, the food here is great, but it is overpriced. I imagine the prices are justified by the cost of doing business in the Town Green area, and I realize the owners have sunk a ton of money into the new enterprise. That Mission style furniture and the rest of the decor doesn't come cheap. On the other hand, I'd be much more inclined to be a regular here if they just lowered the prices a wee bit, maybe with a plain omelette starting at around $7. Maybe after they've been in Windsor for a year or two and have built up a solid customer base, they can move to a cheaper location. But if you're in Windsor and you're in the market for a really really good breakfast, don't let the high prices scare you. Omelette Express won't let you down. read more

Very little diners the day we went in for lunch and we soon realized the reason. Cushions on many chairs were torn with stuffing coming out. Eggs were good, but the "cottage potatoes" were unappetizing (they were dry, looked like they were old and had been reheated several times, and barely lukewarm in temp). What a disappointment for a potato-lover like me! I didn't complain, but now wish I'd mentioned it while there. Have only eaten here once, but impressed. Delicious home fries, and creative omelettes. Food tasted fresh. I would eat there again next time I am in the area. I had the ruben sandwich, the corned beef was tough and dry. The potato salad was homemade - really? Looked like the standard out of the 5 gallon bucket kind. Who I was with had an omlette - thats what they're known for ! Sure looked like canned mushrooms in the overpriced thing. Hard to swallow any of either meal. Lousy service too, and they wer'nt that busy - now I know why. This was the first and last time. Very fast paced and busy place when we passed by on a Sunday at around 11am ish. Even though they were craaaazy busy, The girls were very friendly and attentive. They helped me order and got our food fast. Next to me was who looked to be the owner and he was friendly and respectful to his staff. Also made sure I was happy with the service, and I was. I have been here maybe 6 times over the past year and the 4 stars is an overall experience of the 6. The food is pretty good. My favorite here is the California Benedict. Service has been good. Coffee is a little strong, but it usually is (and its personal preference, not necessarily what others think). I come here from time to time. Not too impressed with the food, service, or prices. Our waitress attempted to take our order right after we ordered our drinks (coffee and hot tea) we asked for a few minutes to look at the menu as we have only been there once before. She came back with the coffee almost immediately and asked if we were ready to order. We again asked for a few moments and she went to get the tea. After we ordered the food came out fairly quickly, less than 10 minutes. The place was not busy and I ordered a grilled cheese with cottage fries and my husband got an omelet. My grilled cheese was rubbery and had excess burnt cheese on the bread. My husband didn't mind his food. I asked for more hot water for my tea and another tea bag as usually restaurants will place a tea caddy at your table. The waitress brought me both and then come to find out they charged me for 2 teas because I requested the second tea bag! So $5.90 for my 2 cups of Bigelow brand tea.... Total bill was $33.95 for a grilled cheese with cottage fries ($9.95) and the bacon and cheese omelet for my husband with the 2 teas and a coffee. More than disappointed and will not be returning. read more

We stop at the Omelette Express while vacationing in the Windsor area. We are usually there on the weekdays. We are quickly seated and enjoying a hot mug of coffee within minutes of walking in the door. The staff is friendly. The food is well prepared and arrives quickly. The portions are enormous. Their omelettes are wonderful, but it is so intensely noisy that we won't be able to return unless it's deserted. The sound of voices and kitchen noise is amplified and echoes off the stucco walls and ceiling in a manner very painful to the ears. Like all of the newer buildings near the Town Green, this one is in desperate need of soundproofing on the high ceiling and maybe a carpet. (Some of the businesses have done this, such as Saigon Bistro, and it makes all the difference.) It can't cost that much. I've noticed that the Omelette Express in Santa Rosa is also too loud, but nothing like the Windsor location. read more

I have been primarily to the Santa Rosa location, but have been to Windsor. The omelets are large, like three egg omelets. I have also had the California Benedict. I usually order the #1 omelet, but you have to ask for actual avocado or they put this sickeningly bland mush of guacomole in it. They have been in business almost 40 years. The cooks are only line cooks, not chefs. They don't know how to serve gluten free unless you watch them to be sure. I ordered the benedict GF and they put regular bread under it. When I sent it back they were just going to slide the bread out and send it back to me. I get actually sick with gluten, so I had to ask them to re-do it. I asked the owner to change the pepper to a smaller grain, which he did not do, because what they have tends to bounce off instead of on especially the omelets. When they have gluten free bread, which they run out of quickly, they get it from Costco. read more
