Our air conditioning went out on a hot day outside temperature 104°. I called my home warranty company ( Choice home warranty ) for a leaking toilet in my master bedroom , I received a update that "on call air conditioning " would arrive between 5-8 , I figured that was a little late so I called and left a message , No call was returned so I waited till the following day and I called on call air , I was told the home warranty company sends out contracts without on call air conditioning approving they will pick up the repairs , Thw gentleman stated they never get paid from the home warranty company , The gentleman did make an effort and send a technician out within the hour , The tech I believe is Mr Rodriguez came and assessed my issue , I asked the technician . What can be the problem? . The technician stated " The wax ring under your toilet can shrink over time . I then asked the technician well the bolts are extremely rusted can they be removed without damaging the toilet. I then asked the technician . Can my toilet be replaced ? The technician stated . Oh I already sent the repair request ? but I will send another request and tell them your toilet needs to be changed ! I kind of thought "oh that's strange" but trusted the technician. It's been two weeks and the home is warranty company has denied my claim due to his false information of stating my toilet has a crack . I talk to my home warranty company yesterday to explain my side and they stated , We will contact the technician and ask him if he stated to you that it was the wax ring . Choice home warranty called me back and stated we just talk to the technician and he stated he never told you it was the wax ring !! I was beside myself a reputable company can have such a dishonest technician . I don't know if he wanted to escalate the claim so they can charge the home warranty a higher price or what his deceitful excuse is . I've tried calling the technician and the office and have not received a call back !!! Woke up last week and our fan was on -- though we never turned it on. We couldn't get it to go off - despite pushing all the buttons on our AC unit! Called other businesses in town and they wanted to charge more for night or weekend visits. Rudy said he'd come out whenever it was convenient, and no extra charge! He went into the attic and took photos of the issue -- I loved that -- and it ended up being a fix that was very reasonable. He gave us two options -- if we couldn't afford to fix it for good, we could do a temporary fix for much cheaper. This ensured he wasn't a scam -- he truly cares about his customers! It's really sad and somewhat hurtful when these repair companies know that customers have no choice but to trust them and they use that to their advantage to screw hard working families over. This guy Rudy came out said we need a brand new unit and that he can't get it going. I almost gave him a deposit of $1000 ($5000) when the job was done I thought let me get a second opinion so I call another ac repair they came out fixed a part charged me $100 said our unit is fine. BAKERSFIELD -Yesterday (Sunday & Father's Day) in the evening our AC unit decided to stop working and not cooling the house. I sent out several requests via Yelp and received a prompt response from Michael within 10 minutes telling me a tech would be calling me. Within another 5 minutes Reuben called me and within 30 minutes he was knocking on the door. Reuben checked everything he could, gave us great explanation of the problem and several solutions based on our budget to alleviate the issue. Bad service. Was charged $180.00 to have someone come out and clean the coils out. Heater stopped working the same night. He came out again 2 days later, did the exact same thing. It worked then stopped again a few hours later. Third time I called he said he'd be out to look at the unit and did a no call no show. Contacted him the next day and he tells me well if he were to fix it, it would cost a couple hundred dollars for parts. He never mentioned this in the first two times being here. So here we are now with still no working heater, out $180.00, and our house at 60 degrees. *Update* In error called them again this summer for our AC not working. They came out, tried convincing me to buy an entire unit. I said no fix the part that's the issue how much would it cost? They said the part would be hundreds of dollars. My cousins AC broke days before that and it was the same part. Cost them $20 to order the part and replace it while this company was going to charge hundreds of dollars. Needless to say, I sent them away. A friend told me to try to flip our breaker to see if that would work and it's been up and running since. That was a few weeks ago. I just want to give people a heads up on the service of this company. I don't do reviews often. This service and pushy behavior on trying to sell a entire new unit ranging from 6k-8k is ridiculous. They want to make the most money off people even if it is a lie and a single part needs to be replaced. I do not recommend contacting them. read more

AC Tech: Rudy Don't call these guys. My AC blower motor went out. My hvac friend diagnosed it but unfortunately could get here till next week. He told me the motor is $170 at his price and $234 retail. My hvac friend said I can can expect to pay 100-$200 for install since is only 1 hr install at the most and $200 is on the high side. My appointment was at 9am. He kept dragging the time on until 8pm. Finally came over and said this install will be $700 because of the time. He then stated that this is a super cheap price for such a big job. (Blower housing is 2 screws mother board is 4 clips, one bolt for the shaft, 3-5 screws for the motor bracket). He kept rambling on with this kid he was with that looked like he was 15 years old, that this job is huge and $700 is cheap, and other people that paid $800 ripped him off cause price was so cheap. These ramblings upset me the most. I had to haggle with him so was $540 cash! Then he gets out to his truck and I check the motor that he was going to put in. Its a 3 speed motor and 1/3 hp. Mine is a 4 speed 1/4 hp. He said it doesn't matter. I called my friend and he stated "DO NOT INSTALL THE WRONG MOTOR! Do not agree to this..your system is not designed for those specs and will prematurely fail". I told the guy I want the right motor and not the one he had. He then states he will put the stuff back in and not do the job and charge me $100. On the other hand, he says he can do the job and get the correct motor, but is $800 for the right motor. This is BS because the motor is $170 at his price and $234 retail. So I am going to get punished because I won't let him install the wrong motor and get charged extra to get the right motor in????? What the??? Basically he said since its so busy, no one is available so its $800 and it does not matter on part costs. Ummm I had 3 other companies that could come out within a few days but he was same day which is why I went with him. So ended up haggling with him and got it for $600 CASH which is $200 overpriced even still. Called many hvac companies and they stated should have been around $400. Its better than $800. They know you are desperate and don't know whats going on, but be smart...research yourself on the part numbers and get multiple quotes. Don't rely on their words. So I got a good deal on a deluxe rooftop unit made by Lennox. I got it installed by another company (which I will not mention). They installed a cheap thermostat to go with the deal and I did some digging and found out that Lennox actually has a deluxe WiFi stat that is compatible to my unit. I didn't want to call the company back, due to the fact that they turned out to be way overpriced for labor.. so I searched online and found out about On call heating and air. I spoke to Rudy and he promised me to be at my house from 2-5pm. He got there around 4:30 and was ready to check my stat out..he found out that the prior company spliced wires to accommodate the cheaper thermostat. So he told me that he could install the new lennox WiFi stat and only charge me 100 bucks above the stat price for the 're-wiring. We agreed to do the job on the weekend but he came today. (Friday). Took him an hour to sort wiring and install the stat. Now the stat looks great and I'm getting the full benefit of my system. Thanks Rudy. read more
