I went here on a beautiful Wednesday evening and sat out on the deck. I was with a group of four: the waitress brought us our drinks right away and had to come back twice before we were all ready to order. The three woman I was with all had special requests. The food took a little longer then they liked coming out but I seriously thought the wait time was fine being that three of the four orders were special requests. I started coming here when the place opened under Phil. I live locally and there is not many places to go during the winter months. Once Phil sold we gave the restaurant some chances. Tonight was it. I always love to try new places and since I was taking my good friend out for her birthday I thought we would try here. The place was crowded for a weekday but we were able to sit outside and enjoy the view and the great weather. My Grilled Tuna BLT was HUGE and I had a hard time opening my mouth that big but I managed. I asked for the tuna to be done rare and it was and it all came together well. My friend had the NOFO Salad with chicken and gasped when she saw it because of how big it was. She loved it as much as I loved my sandwich. The waitress didn't rush us so we were free to enjoy a wonderful birthday lunch with the sea breeze. I am going back with my husband shortly and can't wait. read more

I wish I could give more stars but there were just too many little details that were overlooked. First, the positives - the restaurant is clean inside and out, all staff had masks on at all times. I didn't notice any hand sanitizer areas like I have observed in most restaurants I have been to lately but everything seemed very clean I will hope that they are more discreet. It took a while for someone to come take our order and he took our drink and app order first. We ordered Irish Nachos and were told they didn't have the potatoes they used for them but he could put the same toppings on their fresh made tortilla chips. We agreed. When it was brought to the table we sat and stared at it for a minute because it looked like regular nachos (also a menu item). We mentioned it to our server and he tries to convince us it was correct. Um no it's clearly regular nachos because Irish nachos usually have cheddar cheese and bacon and not ground beef, beans and jalapeños. Finally, he realized that we did not want regular nachos and took them away. He seemed a bit annoyed but the rest of the meal was uneventful and quite good. I had the flatiron steak sandwich with sweet potato fries, my daughter had a burger and my husband had fish and chips. We did end up enjoying our meal and our view of the water. Worst food and service i have ever encountered. Came to the bar for football with some food and drinks. Bartender forgot to input our order until i asked about it 20 minutes later. He was apologetic but still.... local townie sitting at the bar was yelling racial slurrs to which the bartenders laughed and nicely asked him to lower down. Food came out incorrect and had to send it back. When i came out correctly (a chicken caesar wrap) there was no dressing inside the wrap but instead on the side?! So confusing ive never sen this before. French onion soup was warm at best and just not good at all. Definitely would never come back. read more

I have been to "On the Docks" multiple times and never had an issue. Well, maybe I had to wait for a table at peak times..but that's not their fault (people like the place). We came here after strawberry picking for their outdoor dining. All servers and hosts wore masks, saw tables were thoroughly wiped down after each group was finished, and tables were spaced at least 6 ft apart. We were a group of 5 including my 3 yo. They were all very friendly and prompt with service. Nice scenic view and very open area. Must wear masks if walking through restaurant or using restrooms (which were extremely clean - thank goodness). Food was large portions and delicious. We got the lobster roll (amazing!), burgers and a linguini in white sauce with mussels (so many mussels). Service was quick and the staff that we encountered were all very friendly. Also good to note that we're Chinese and didn't feel discriminated at all. We will definitely come back here again ! read more

I am absolutely appalled by the customer treatment and food quality at this restaurant. We live locally and like to give local restaurants our business. We ordered takeout for our family and two of our family members have celiacs disease. I ordered a no bun burger with rice (they put cross contaminated French fries in the container), my other sons burger was supposed to have bacon ( that we paid for) and didn't and my husbands salad was topped with "grilled shrimp" (that did not specify on the menu that they were breaded.) We specified the celiacs disease for sons meal but because grilled shrimp are usually seasoned and not breaded we did not specify it on the salad (which admittedly we should have done but who breads their grilled shrimp?) When I called to ask if the shrimp was breaded (after my husband ate one) they said yes. I suggested that they specify that on the menu because many have wheat allergies or celiacs disease and could get sick (my husband will now be sick all night) I was directed to the owner. The owner started screaming at me over the phone that "it is my responsibility to specify and don't tell them how to cook their food..." and kept yelling at me over the phone. Meanwhile I kept explaining that we can't eat the salad and I just want a refund. He screamed some more and told me to bring it back. As I entered the restaurant I hear him yell "here she comes". I said " I spoke to you on the phone about the salad". He continued to scream at me load my throughout the restaurant, throw a $20 bill at me and said "I'm the owner and this is why I can talk to you like this". I obviously will never be back, but I warn everyone that has any dietary restriction or just doesn't want to be demeaned and screamed at while wasting their money on horrible food to avoid this place. Lobster roll lovers beware Cons: If you're looking for a lobster roll, look elsewhere! They use a blend of lobster meat and that imitation crab meat! WHY??? It totally ruined the taste. Very disappointing. We live down the road and looked forward to this new venue as a good go to place for family and friends. The former owner started off with great food and it seemed to decline over time. So we were excited to see it was going to be reopened under new ownership. Unfortunately tonight's meal started and finished below anything the former owner offered. Baked clams, which seemed store bought, we mushy and low on clams. Skewered shrimp, which I expected to be grilled(perhaps my mistaken assumption the anything skewered was done so to it on a grill) were slightly cooked in a pan. With a sauce poured over it rather than cooked with it. H My wife's portobello mushroom wrap was full of salty spinach and missing the sun dried tomatoes on the menu. We skipped the usual coffee/espresso and desert out of fear. We commented to the waitress who although seemingly sympathetic neglected to pass on comments on to management. read more

The food is nothing special! We have waited for food over 30 minutes (salads and burgers). The owner constantly lets patrons park in boat owner slips. He then lies to the boat owners about it and tells them they aren't in the restaurant as they are sitting at the bar. He has no integrity! read more

Not much flavor to the seafood platter i ordered. Baked clams were so chewy i couldn't eat them. The flounder tasted "off". I doubt any of this was fresh seafood even though this place is on the water. Vegetables were awful. There are 2 farm stands within walking distance of this place and i tasted frozen vegetables.... Stopped in with the kids for outdoor lunch after a lovely trip to the Long island Aquarium. Waited approximately 15 min for outdoor seating. Well worth it, very pretty view of the water and boats. Kids' menu includes chicken fingers and quesadillas which the kids ate up. We also ordered fried Mac n cheese balls, tuna tartar and fish tacos.... all of which were very yummy. The staff was friendly and restaurant was clean. Overall lovely lunch experience with the family. read more

called a week ago to reserve a window table.for my daughters birthday by the window. called again day of and they had no reservation in book. so I had to reserve again and when I got there even though there were many tables open by window they said we couldn't sit there because we were a table of 6 and the max at those tables were 5. we said ok we can start to eat at a regular table and when the 6 top by window is done we can move to that one. they said no you can't do that (!) The place was empty except for 3 other tables. my son asked for chocolate milk. they brought one and when he asked for another they said they were out of chocolate. my husband saw that 1 dish had carrots so he ordered another dish and asked for carrots on side. they said no the carrots only go w the the dish they are out of so he can't have them. he asked for a coffee drink after dinner w a half shot of amaretto and half shot of kaluha . he gets this at every restaurant he goes to. not here! manager Says they can't sell half shots so can't do that for your coffee drink. food was average and very expensive. view is nice if u sit by window. other than that too many restrictions for a restaurant for our liking. so many places on the water on Long Island better than this. give it a pass..we will next time too. read more

I recently ordered takeout dinners from On The Docks and was very pleased. The food was delicious, it was ready on-time and piping hot. It was so good, we went back three times in two weeks! The marinated skirt steak and fried flounder were our favorites. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly. The accompanying mashed potatoes were rich and flavorful and the vegetables were fresh. The fried flounder was also prepared well and delicious. There was enough food with each meal that we enjoyed it again for lunch the next day. read more

We dined this weekend with a party of 8, and everything was spectacular! For appetizer we had the coconut shrimp, onion rings and oysters. For the main course I had the blackened cod fish with just vegetables and it was perfect! Other entrees such as the fish tacos, and Fried Diablo were also delicious! During these times... when sanitizing is of the utmost importance, On The Docks is woefully trailing. They're spraying the tables with a Windex-like solution... which is not a sanitizer, but a Shiner. Tables are glistening. A Table Clearer, thinking she could clear our used dishes/glasses had to place dirty glasses from another table on OUR table, until she was able to balance all the used/dirty dishware in her arms. DISGUSTING!!! Table Clearers, ungloved and clearing tables, then set up the tables without cleaning/washing their hands!!! We personally observed this several times!!! Finally... several tables are NOT 6 FEET APART. Definitely not adhering to current uniform standards. "Anything for a buck". AND, DISGUSTING. read more

First time ordering for pickup during quarantine. Not very happy. First we ordered mozzarella sticks, chicken skewers teriyaki, marinated cheeseburger, turkey club. Never got the skewers. We got chicken teriyaki dinner and charged for the dinner. Very unhappy. The marinated cheese burger was not marinated and the turkey club was squashed into the tin pan. What was surprising is that the other was repeated back, so why the screwups. Not ordering again. We really miss Phil's. read more

We finished apple picking at harbes, and saw this place was close by so we decided to stop in. We called and were told there was no wait. We were seated right away and got our drinks. A member in our group asked for apple juice and it was given to her and automatically looked weird. It looked clear at top, yellow on the bottom, I should've taken a photo. Upon our waitress Christina coming back to our table, we asked if this could be removed off the bill because it tastes bad. She was very rude and gave an attitude for asking that, and for the rest of the time being was very rude and cold. There is NO reason to be cold and rude to your table because they did not like their drink. Anyways, the food took over a half hour for chicken fingers appetizer, salad, 3 tacos, and a burger. Other people seated after us received their food first. Coincidence that the waitress was rude and now the food was taking longer. Food deserves more stars, but hopefully management will see this and remind their staff on how they should treat customers. read more
