The description of the restaurant, the menus and the reviews online made us to decide to give them a try. We're so glad that we did! We entered through the bar entrance which was lively but not crazy loud. There was a musician setting up in one corner of the bar area. We could hear him during our dinner but it was not at all distracting (and he was quite good). We were greeted by one of the hosts (who I now believe may be one of the owners). We were welcomed and escorted to a table in the dining room right behind the bar area. From what I could determine, there were at least two other dining areas and an outside dining area (for dining during the nicer weather). Our server quickly came to welcome us, ask if we had questions about the menu / specials and to take our drink order. She was attentive, pleasant and was able to quickly and accurately answer questions that we had (we have some dietary restrictions and needed to verify some ingredients. She knew immediately what we could order to dine safely. We started our order with the Chiccharon appetizer. I had anticipated that the item would be traditional crispy Chiccaron. Instead the dish was more of a pork belly in a broth. We actually enjoyed that much more! It was plentiful, cooked to perfection and flavorful. For dinner my wife and our friend ordered the sea bass special. They both thought it was plentiful, perfectly prepared and tasted great. I ordered the pork chop with spicy cherry peppers in a light evoo broth. I told our server that I wasn't eating potatoes or rice and asked for a recommendation for a substitute. She recommended the broccolini which was a perfect alternative. My pork chop was served perfectly (medium, juicy,) and was huge! We passed on dessert but the options looked amazing. The waitresses were kind and the atmosphere is real homey. That's part of the attraction for me. Nothing changes, while everything else in the area is losing its rural character, you can go into Cliffs and reminisce the old days on the North Fork. I was there many times with my husband and friends and it feels like yesterday. I hope it always stays the same. To top it off, I had a slice of the chocolate cake for dessert. My recent visit to this restaurant was a mixed bag of experiences. Upon entering without a reservation, I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable wait time on a Friday night. The staff's efficiency and friendliness contributed to a positive start to our dining experience. However, as we delved into the menu, it became apparent that the quality of the food did not match the level of service. The pasta dish we ordered had a major flaw: the noodles were overly mushy, lacking the desirable al dente texture. The mussels fell short of our expectations as they lacked the freshness we anticipated, and the overall taste was underwhelming. Furthermore, the restaurant's crab cake is way below standard, paled in comparison with Costco crab cake. Being that the location of this place is so amazing, I expected great things. Highly disappointed. The food took forever to come out, and when it did it was horrible. Rice so bland it was like cardboard and meat like leather. After, we decided to check out the bar for a drink. It was clear the bar manager only cared about her regular customers and after waiting 5 minutes and not being acknowledged we decided to leave. 2 stars are because the server was attentive and sweet.
