He was understanding and agreed to just do the premium beard package. It was late at night when we got there. Mikey was very accommodating and chill as hell! This place is basically a spa for men. He had a facial, scalp massage, hot towel, face steam, and beard trim. Mikey took his time and was precise with the services, because we had extra time in our booked time slot since we were no longer doing the haircut. I am giving her three stars because the last time I tried to book with her, she canceled my appointment with no explanation. I asked her what was going on via text and Instagram and she just failed to respond or even re-book me for another day. Since then, I have tried to book and she is still not responding and/or returning texts. I can only chop it up to the last time she did my 4 braids, the center part was not even -- making my braids appear to be bulkier on one side as opposed to the other. I mentioned it to her, prior to leaving and she did what she could but it wasn't on bad terms or anything. Needless to say, I have no reason why she is non responsive to me, when she is clearly active on social media and to others . I have heard from other customers that she has done this to them as well as has been rude. I think it is really unprofessional.

I literally called him Wednesday night for an on-demand appointment on Thursday morning. When he arrived I was amazed and so were others that passed by the van. We had a lot of curious people who were amazed by the van and barber shop inside that stopped and made comments about how cool the van was. It's like a luxury barber shop inside where you're the only client plus there's room for one more person if you bring someone along. The barber Notch is a pro and knows clearly how to make you look your best. I made an appointment over the phone, but when I arrived, I wasn't greeted as someone with a scheduled slot. I gave my name and was casually pointed to a seat with no real acknowledgment. The barbers all spoke to each other in Spanish, which is fine, but they didn't say a single word to me during the entire service. Not even a basic "what kind of cut are you looking for?" The actual haircut took less than 10 minutes--always a red flag in my experience. My cut isn't complicated, but when it's done well, it usually takes at least 20 minutes, if not more. There was no attention to detail, no scissors involved, and honestly, I walked out feeling like my amateur friend had done a much better job for $15 less. They charged $35 (plus a $5 tip I still gave), which I know isn't much for San Francisco--but considering the rushed service and forgettable cut, it felt overpriced. As for hair dying, it is very hit or miss but with more missing than hitting :-/ The first time I dyed my hair here, I was so sure Rosa would deliver the chocolate brown color I wanted, but instead I walked out with almost-black hair. This past Saturday, I returned for another dye job after more than a year of not messin with my hair's natural color. I came armed with my September issue of Glamour, which featured Penelope Cruz on the cover with the hair color of my dreams. All I heard was a bunch of mumbo-jumbo as to why my hair wouldn't turn out exactly like it did in the magazine. Long story short.... instead of rockin a warm autumnal brown, I inexplicably have blonde highlights. I say "inexplicably" because Penelope does not have blonde highlights in Glamour. Boo & I weren't exactly thrilled with the outcome and pops said I look like a skunk (bless his honest little heart), but I'm gonna try to get used to it. I've had my hair this color before, so my disappointment lies in the fact that I didn't get the color I had in mind. If I'm not feelin it by this weekend, Rosa said I can come back and she'll do a deposit of color for 10 minutes for free.

I was very insistent that I wanted a barber that gave the full experience that I would enjoy at high end barbers in the past, like The Refinery in London. For me the experience is grounded in the hot towels and other little additions. After some research I decided to give Ahmet's a try. I called in and spoke to Iggy, one of the multiple stylists that work there and he was able to see me and off I went. Two years on I'm still a devoted customer to Iggy and enjoy my monthly head shave and beard trim. I usually spend about an hour in the chair and in that hour get the full service, he's been able to style my beard into something quite awesome and I've received many positive comments after I started going. The quality of the service is one thing, it has been consistently brilliant and I feel relaxed and pampered after all the various potions, lotions, hot and cold towels are applied. Iggy is also notable for being absolutely always on time, I do have a very inflexible schedule for delays and I feel confident that I can make an appointment with Iggy and be done at a consistent and predictable time. I've become very fond of my monthly visits, sometimes I sneak in an extra appointment especially if I've been a bit lazy in my maintenance.
