    Lox sandwich

No complaints here ever it was great! I ordered a black sandwich and a skinny bagel with everything on it, but I didn't know that included olives, never had that before, but it was yummy. Food always comes out super fast and all staff are always super nice! Obviously, we'll be coming back

Part of the "Once Upon a" family of restaurants. I've been to Once Upon a Bagel before and it's similar if not identical. I had a bagel breakfast sandwich and it was pretty good. I wish they used a different cheese... it was like melted American or something. But that's ok, it was otherwise very good. I got bacon but next time might try the sausage. And I'm sure there'll be a next time. I considered getting some bagels to take home but opted against it this time. Next time I may get some bagels to put in the freezer and if they have it some house made cream cheese. Parking is plentiful as they're in a small strip mall. Lots of seating inside, which is kind of crowded but when I stopped in there was hardly anyone in, though there were two or three others there for pickup/carryout.

Even though I drive by this area quite frequently, to be honest I never noticed this place because it's tucked away in an 'L-shaped' section of the strip mall. Went here to meet some ex-coworkers for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Lots of options to choose from, it's almost overwhelming! There's breakfast, sandwiches, Mexican dishes, desserts - everything you would think of seems like is here. Ordering was fast the counter person helped walk me through the options from my selection, they do it old school just by writing it down on a paper and then tagging it up to be made. Payment was the normal electronic options. Since I was ordering for sit down, they gave me a number. There was ample seating even for a lunchtime hour. The order came quickly, still a little bit pricey for the sandwich - but it was fresh and a good size. In any case, definitely recommend especially when you have to do a work lunch and only have an hour to spare!

This is a walk-up counter, seat yourself place that claims to have the best breakfast. Unfortunately, it falls short of best... unless it is like the world's best coffee like in the movie "Elf". The restaurant is tied to other "Once Upon" like cafe and bagel, and even the Mean Wiener. There really isn't much service. The man behind the counter did talk and point, but it was pretty self service beyond that. Get your own drink, get your own flatware. Once I sat down alone, I had to get back up a couple times to refill my drink. I always fret about leaving food at the table and as soon as I go to refill, someone takes my plate I haven't finished. That didn't happen, but eating alone in a place like this made it a chance. My food came out hot and all at the same time. I got the ham and cheese omelette with a sesame bagel. I added a side of hash browns. There was entirely too much food for me to eat. The omelette was light and fluffy. But that is all, it fell flat on flavor. Even the ham was less than impressive. The hash browns were good and cooked to the right point before serving. The sesame bagel was surprising lacking in sesame seeds. It had some but it looked like someone wiped the seeds off before sending it to the table. Ambiance is sparse. It had more advertisements than artwork.

A fall favorite! Delicious soups with a side of fresh bagel! Yummy! They have soup by the day or the classic chicken noodle or chili every day. The ambience it's casual and relaxed. Order when you come in and the food gets delivered to your table by the very friendly staff. Very clean and nice for a lunch during workdays.

Gave Once Upon A Grill another chance and ordered through a delivery service. Complete fail. They didn't include any of the bagels or bialys from my order! Also my steak that I asked for RARE was completely BURNT. Charged me almost $2 for some cheese that I asked for on top of eggs. Also, do not get avocado toast here. It's literally a little bit of avocado smeared on a couple pieces of bread for $8. Did they switch owners after the pandemic? Complete rip-off. Not worth it! Do not recommend.

Our go to when we want breakfast for dinner. If your looking for a diner style breakfast, this is the place to go! Everything is always cooked perfect. The garden omelet is full of veggies! Yum yum! Also comes with bread/toast.

Bagel tray and breakfast combo tray

I recently hosted a breakfast for the staff at the three District 27 schools. We ordered bagel trays and breakfast combo trays (muffins, donuts, coffee cake and cookies) and coffee. We had 15 people at one location, 90 at another and about 115 at the third. The people at Once Upon went above and beyond to make sure the trays arrived on time at all 3 locations and the spread was beautiful! Everybody enjoyed the delicious food. I was very impressed that the bagel trays came with three different cream cheeses as well as fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. The bagels were also pre-sliced which was very helpful! If you need a nice breakfast for a large (or small) group, I HIGHLY recommend Once Upon a Grill and Once Upon a Deli!

Social Inn has been on my to-try list for some time.  My husband and I finally had a chance to…read morecheck it out on a Monday evening recently.  I made a reservation via Tock that I already had an account for years, so that was simple. On a weekday evening, as expected, the restaurant was not busy.  We were promptly seated at a 4-top table (2 × 2-top) against the right wall, with some other 2-tops on both sides.  Like many reviewers had mentioned, the venue was beautiful, modern and chic. There were 7 tables occupied, including us.  The music that they had was not too loud, just that customers' conversations were amplified by the box shape open dining area.  If we focused enough, we could hear every conversation if we wanted to.  This was obvious when a table of about 6 women got seated at a table near the front door, some of them laughed and talked very loudly.  My husband and I just found it funny and didn't let that bother us.  However, when the restaurant is filled on busier days, it might be a different story. Our server, Patrick, was very nice and attentive.  Since they did not list drinks on their menu except those with alcohol, I asked him about non-alcoholic drinks.  After a brief "discussion", he asked me to leave it to him to make me a drink with mango.  He came up with a beautiful drink that was good and refreshing, with some mango flavor.  It was Virgin Paloma on our receipt for $8, which was reasonable.  He was very polite and checked in on us several times at appropriate times during our dinner.  The pace of the dinner was good, we spent a total of an hour and 15 minutes in the restaurant. Patrick might be the only waiter serving all the tables that evening, though. I also ordered Grilled Octopus ($22) which was very good, tender and flavorful, but was a little too salty to my taste.  The small pita bread wedges were warm and fluffy with some crispy edges, the beet hummus was creamy, and everything was delicious and tasted fresh.  I generously shared 2 little bites of octopus with my husband and I finished the entire plate, it was so good!  My husband really liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) and I shared a bite of that too.  He also had a House Salad for $6, that was a very good value.  He enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc Crossing ($12) too.  We also shared an order of Crème Brulee ($8), that was creamy and cooked perfectly.  We ordered a takeout order of Rigatoni with Sausage ($23), that was a good portion, and was still delicious and al dente the next day after being microwaved. I am so happy that we found Social Inn - a hidden gem in Plaza del Prado, it's not far from home, with comfortable and beautiful ambiance, excellent service (from Patrick), an attractive menu with enticing food (fresh ingredients and appealing plating), and reasonable prices, we will definitely be back!

We were in the area late in the day and remembered Social Inn was open, so we went. We ordered a variety of items. I did order my burger medium and it was delivered well done, but it was still good. They also have one of the best gluten-free buns I've ever had. I do wish they were open at lunch time still, but I understand they need to be open for their busiest hours. Social Inn is a great option when you are in the Glenview area.

My sister and I went over for a late supper and sat on the patio as the weather was pretty nice for April. It was a huge portion and the guac was so fresh and good! We put a small dent in it before our salads arrived. Can you say to go boxes! Not disappointed with the salads either! I had a nice Cesar salad with grilled chicken and my sister had a salad with sweet potato and brussel sprouts, both very good! Then, we discovered that the McDonald's which had been on this location for decades had permanently closed! What did we do? We visited the Love's Yogurt right next to it instead. The yogurt store was empty at this off-peak time. My husband struck a conversation with Henry, who had been the owner of the store for 18 years. He was very friendly and said that Love's had opened at this location for 38 years! It was the first time that we ever visited! Why? Because when there was a McDonald's right next to a yogurt shop, we chose McDonald's, haha. I looked at their menu board and saw smoothies, and I thought they were $6.50 each. I ordered a Henry's Special Smoothie which included mango, pineapple, coconut with pineapple juice and Love's French Vanilla Yogurt. My husband ordered a small vanilla yogurt for $4.05. The receipt came up to $13.77, with no itemization, just one total amount. Then I politely asked Henry, and found out that Henry's Special was $8.50. Henry's Special did not have a price on the small smoothie menu, and it was not on the wall menu board. When I looked at the picture that I took of the menu board at home, I noticed that all the other smoothies seemed to be originally $6.50, but at some points in time the prices were manually changed with an 8 written over 6, and the one on the top line still looked like a 6 to me from a distance. Forgive my less than perfect vision. I found that kind of funny. Before Henry went inside to prepare my smoothie, he was brushing away some debris on the countertop with his bare hands. I did not see him wearing gloves the entire time. Well, like a Chinese saying, "if you don't see it, just consider it being clean", haha. The Henry's Special was pretty good. It's creamy, sweet but not too sweet, and every sip had coconut bits in it. I just wish that the mango flavor could be a little stronger. Husband said that his yogurt was standard. It was a surprise that they also sell other savory items such as soups, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. The shop was clean and rather nostalgic looking. Henry said that McDonald's next door closed because the landlord increased their rent 2 to 3 folds. He said that they still have 20 months left on their lease, and hope that the rent would not increase too much. Otherwise, he would have to retire too. I hope not.
