    Maple cinnamon lattes
    Kathy N.

First time coming here and will be back. Got the maple cinnamon latte and I would recommend it. Super smooth and creamy, not too sweet, perfect amount of cinnamon. I could not stop sipping it and finished the cup in store, which I normally don't do (usually I'll take it home and finish the rest at home). Not a ton of seating for the amount of customers there were though. I expected the place to be a little bigger. Pastries at the register looked like a display: so pretty! I couldn't stop staring at the display. I got the pumpkin almond croissant, which I assume is seasonal. Would recommend because it was scrumptious. I'm also interested in the onion Swiss croissant and matcha muffin for next time.

This is a lovely cafe located near Seward Park that is absolutely bustling on the weekends. I came here to get some breakfast and do some work on a Saturday morning, and by 10 am every table in the cafe was taken. While I'm not a Seattle native, I thought it had a great community feel and there were clearly repeat customers that come often. For the menu, they have a variety of baked goods in the front, along with some premade sandwiches and other delicacies that are available for purchase. I got one of their seasonal offerings to try - a maple latte with oak milk, along with a small banana loaf and a Japanese-style croquette filled with jerk chicken and veggies. It was great to eat something hot on a rainy morning, and the latte was sweet without being overwhelming. (I'm not a big coffee person, so couldn't finish it due to my inability for consuming caffeine.) I liked the ambiance of the place, and they also sell coffee beans for all the caffeine lovers. I can see myself coming here to work all the time if I lived in Seattle. Glad I stumbled on this place during my short visit!

Very nice baristas and welcoming interior and parklet outside. Coffee of course great but the chai and matcha are also well made. Many super dress roasted coffee options for at home espresso and coffee brewing. Good ethos and coffee practices as well definitely will continue to support and great for a quick stock up for beans or a quick coffee.

Please do yourself a favor and grab an onion and cheese pastry. When we went it was my first time, and I didn't realize how good it would be. I wanted to grab another for the road and they had already run out of the stack they had in the short time we were there! The service was great - all drinks were out quickly and done correctly. The ambiance was great - you can tell they're a huge part of the community.

Solid space to get work done. Tons of parking. Mini banana loaf is made in their West Seattle kitchen, super yummy. Service is super friendly and the bathrooms are clean!

I am not a coffee drinker but my cousin is and she was visiting from out of town and she tried tons of coffee in the Seattle area and Onda was one of her top favorites. She actually first tried Onda coffee when we were at Fresh Flours in Beacon Hill which I didn't realize was a sister business of theirs (which is super cool cuz i love Fresh Flours). She loved the drip coffee so much that I took her to Onda'a cafe on a different day. The cafe is super cute and cozy and it was busy for a Friday morning! My cousin ordered a drip coffee (it was a different roast than the one she had at Fresh Flours) and she said it was really good too. She ended up buying two bags of coffee beans to take home with her and they ground the beans in one of the bags for her. The barista was really nice and helpful and the cafe sells Fresh Flours pastries which is really good to know cuz Onda is closer to me than any of the FF locations!

Bright and fun seating area both inside and out. The staff person was lovely and kind. The drinks were well made and tasty and we really enjoyed the vegan lentil bread too.

I was waiting in line for the Flour Box and my husband ran here to grab a quick drink to keep us warm. He ordered us a black coffee that we thought was super enjoyable. He was able to get in and out pretty quickly and he said that the service was friendly. Overall, I'd say this is a great place to get your caffeine fix.

Wow! A new favorite roaster and coffee house in Seattle. Only tough part for me is location. Coffee is great. They have a good selection they source directly from small farmers. I haven't tasted all the blends yet, so I can't speak to them. But the single origins have something for everyone and every taste. Location itself is comfortable and inviting. I do with they had more on offer in the cafe, but they do rotate offerings. The baked goods are also top notch. Staff is friendly and helpful. The perfect Seattle coffee house, with a great roaster out back to boot.

The vibe of this place and the people that make it happen every morning are world class. Life situations kept me from making my way to the shop for a year or so, but when I walked in I was greeted with a smile and a "it's been a while!" The coffee is reasonably priced and imo - best in the area. It's consistent and while I'm a sucker for the 12oz cold brew - I've gone off script a few times and have always been pleased. I've got family that comes into town fairly often, and almost every morning they ask to go because they think about it when they're at home in Chicago. There's plenty of seating, tho it's sometimes so bumping (because it's a great spot!) it can be hit or miss if you can stick around and enjoy the vibe. But generally I've had good luck over the years setting up at a table and chatting with friends & fam before a hike, enjoying the morning with my pup doing some socialization training or throwing a few emails around to my corporate overlords. I've seen ads for their evening events and have been wanting to make it to one, but I always seem to see the poster days or weeks after the event! Poetry nights in a space like boon boona seem like an unbeatable vibe, hope to notice & get to one soon. *Parking is also not hard to find at all. There's a free garage down the street at the transit center that is never full, and tons of street parking*

BEAN BOX: WHERE LIMA BEAN DREAMS BECOME REALITY (DESPITE BEING A COFFEE SHOP)…read more Listen, while others might come here expecting just coffee beans, let me tell you about their REVOLUTIONARY approach to lima bean curation. Their selection of these flat, buttery legumes is so extensive it makes other coffee shops look like they're not even trying in the lima bean department (which, to be fair, they're not, because they're coffee shops). Their premium Giant White Lima collection (displayed with the reverence usually reserved for rare coffee beans) is housed in custom-made glass jars that make other beans question their life choices. Each lima bean is positioned to catch the morning light like tiny, kidney-shaped supermodels. You haven't lived until you've seen their Christmas Lima Bean display (completely overshadowing their holiday coffee blends). The variegated patterns on these heirloom limas tell a story that makes their single-origin Ethiopian beans seem downright chatty at parties. The rare Fordhook Lima section (inexplicably placed next to their pour-over station) features beans so perfectly formed that customers often mistake them for small sculptures. I once saw someone try to order a lima bean latte. The barista's confusion was palpable, but their lima bean organization remained impeccable. Their rotating seasonal lima bean exhibit (which takes up prime real estate that could be used for, oh, I don't know, COFFEE) includes varieties like the Baby Lima, Henderson Bush, and the elusive King of the Garden Lima. Each one is labeled with tasting notes, as if someone's going to conduct a lima bean cupping session. Five stars for their commitment to showcasing these underappreciated legumes in a space clearly designed for coffee retail. I've started a weekly lima bean appreciation club where we gather to admire their collection while confused coffee customers try to order lattes around us. P.S. I heard someone suggest they should focus more on coffee beans, and the lima bean display case audibly gasped. P.P.S. Their limited edition Jackson Wonder Lima beans are stored in a climate-controlled case that probably cost more than most cars. The security system seems excessive, but who am I to question lima bean protection protocols? Note: This review was written while contemplating the bold choice of dedicating so much space to lima beans in a coffee shop on 1st Avenue South. The courage. The vision. The complete disregard for traditional coffee shop inventory expectations. Special Addendum: To the customer who asked why there were lima beans in the coffee grinder - you clearly don't understand the ARTISTRY of cross-legume innovation. Final Thought: Sure, they might technically be a "coffee shop," but their lima bean game is stronger than a triple shot espresso. It's like they misread "coffee house" as "legume palace" and just ran with it. Remember: Coffee beans may come and go, but lima beans are forever. Or at least until someone finally explains to them what kind of beans coffee shops typically sell. P.P.P.S. Their new "Lima Bean of the Month" subscription service is revolutionary, even if it's causing significant confusion among their coffee subscribers.

After booking a tea tasting at a local tea shop, I went around looking for coffee tastings and found Victrola. Every Friday at 11AM, they offer a free tasting class, so we, of course, booked the very next Friday! Arriving at the shop a bit before 11AM, it was pretty full, with most tables taken and a short line of 2-3 people in front of me. We checked in with the cashier and he said the barista was getting things ready. Maybe 5 minutes later, we were led to the room in the back, where the barista introduced the tasting experience and handed us two sheets of paper, one with the anatomy of a coffee cherry, and the other with their coffee flavor wheel. For this week, it was only us two for the tasting, so we had a full monopoly of the barista (according to him, the prior week was 8 people!). We were able to try two coffees - both single origin, one from Guatemala and the other from Colombia. We started by sniffing the beans and grounds, with the Guatemalan emanating notes of lightly roasted peanuts (per tasting notes, it's milk chocolate, orange, and "elegant") and the Colombian with dark soy and umami notes (per tasting notes, it's pineapple, melon, and date), at least to my nose. The barista brewed both via pour over (if I remember correctly, it was 203F water with 20g of the Guatemalan, 24g of the Colombian in 360g of water). I forgot the exact grind sizes he used. Interestingly, the flavor profile of the Colombian was completely different to me between the grounds and the final brew. Very fruity throughout - I'm not that adept at description, but it's definitely a fresher, crisp fruit, not dried fruit, and not red fruit or berries, nor citrus. I'll have to file this one away as pineapple and green apple, per the barista. In terms of mouthfeel, it's thick, almost syrupy, coating the mouth with the fruity flavors. The Guatemalan, on the other hand, is completely different, starting with roasted coffee, then still with the peanut notes, but also adding a caramel-like essence. Very 'brown' on the color wheel. Mouthfeel-wise, thinner, watery like tea. I have never had good quality coffee before and this was certainly an experience that opened my eyes to how good coffee can actually be. I still have a ton of tea leaves to go through, but perhaps when I'm nearing the end, I'll have to start drinking more coffee. Tea, then chocolate, and now maybe coffee? My wallet is crying...
