It's been over a year since Ondo has opened and I love that they keep innovating! The latest goodies I've been enjoying here are the: *injeolmi croissant - it's so dang good. First, their lamination is ON POINT. Then add the Korean flavors and flair to it? Chef's kiss. So Injeolmi is basically like a mochi rice cake dessert with roasted soy bean powder on it. So they did their take on it by dusting the exterior with the roasted soy bean powder and putting the rice cake part INSIDE. You basically have to eat this day-of though - rice flour goodies are never that great re-heated. *trompe de l'oeil desserts - they have various ones that look like fruit BUT my favorite cheesecake that looks like a piece of cheese on a cheese board ha. Love the whimsy. *the sleeping bear cakes! I think this is more of a Valentine's Day special - I'm not sure if it's year-around but it's so cute and the chocolate mousse is so luscious with the perfect ratio of raspberry. *Dubai chocolate mochi - this is probably my favorite take on this viral trend. It's a really fascinating texture with the soft rice cake/mochi meeting the crunchy kataifi. I'm into though! read more

Come early because they tend to sell out of some stuff by the early afternoon! That Dubai chocolate mochi is so good. A bit on the pricier side, but such a variety of textures and great flavor. The flakiness on the pastries is also so well done - many layers, all nice and neat. Very pretty too. They also sell drinks and have plenty of seating inside. read more

We came over the weekend and my goodness was it busy! There weren't any trays available at the front, so I couldn't get any pastries, other than one that I placed on a parchment paper that I was holding. We decided to order on the kiosk because the line was pretty long. They offer quite a bit of seating on the other side of the pastries and can get loud, if it's packed. So if you're wanting to study, make sure to take a pair of earplugs. We got an iced black sesame latte and a peanut butter Macchiato. Both drinks were okay. The flavors of both drinks weren't as strong but okay. I grabbed a salt bread and a Dubai mochi. Salt bread was okay. The mochi was delicious. If you are a fan of Dubai chocolate, you'll love this! Happy to report that I've (finally) come back to try the black sesame latte (sub almond milk) and WOW is this a decadent treat. The sweet black sesame foam is so nutty and candy like. It mixes well into the coffee for a dessert/treat like beverage. Probably not the drink to put on regular rotation, but will absolutely come for this specially! Ondo is in a prime location, with a lot of foot traffic on Main Street in the heart of University of Michigan's main campus. When I visited on a Sunday morning there was a long line out the door. There are plenty of savory and sweet baked goods to choose from. Some are both savory and sweet like the croissant rolls with a sweet filling and topping. The pastry items in the case are beautifully made. Ondo is fairly priced for the size of its baked goods which are on the larger side compared to other bakeries in Ann Arbor. Almost the same as a Tours le jours but worse. Problem about European/Asian bakery is that they are not good enough to represent either side. Crossiants are burnt as u can see in my picture. First off, the Biscoff iced coffee is absolutely amazing - definitely a must-try. I stopped by around 5 pm on a Sunday, and most of the baked goods and pastries were already sold out, so I'd recommend visiting earlier in the day if you want the full selection. I also tried the strawberry matcha, which I usually order at every new coffee shop I go to, but unfortunately it wasn't great here. Overall, the vibe and experience were good, but I did have one awkward moment - when I asked for a sip lid instead of a straw lid, one of the baristas was unexpectedly rude about it, and said "no!" to my request....which caught me off guard lol read more

I've been here enough that I feel like I'm finally able to write an honest review on the variety of food and drinks! This is probably my favorite coffee shop in Ann Arbor and am constantly recommending it to my friends, so I wanted to share my review of the scene, food, and drinks! This is a great place to go if you are meeting someone, but I probably would not study here during the day. Tables can be hard to get, especially around 1-5p during the week or anytime on the weekend. It's also very packed! If noise is an issue to you, get your drink and go! As a Korean inspired bakery, it has a huge amount of interesting foods and flavors. I have tried their Garlic Bread and New York rolls. Think of the roll like a crispy, sweet, crescent roll filled with cream. It's great, but very filling, I often split one with a friend. As for drinks, my go-to is the Iced Sea Salt Caramel Cream Latte, however the Biscoff Latte is a close second. For people wondering about the sweetness level, everything is very sweet and strong. I've also had the Passionfruit Refresher. Honestly, it wasn't my favorite, but I'm glad I tried it. I wasn't impressed with the flavor, it seemed watered down and kind of separated. I struggled with whether to give 4 or 5 stars, but decided on 4 because of the refresher and a warning for those who don't like overly sweet things. I would highly recommend getting coffee if you are going to go. I can't speak to the matcha because I haven't tried it but it seems extremely popular and there's always matcha orders being made! I've been coming to this spot for years. Ondo has the best coconut cream latte! Be sure to get it hot though! They use coconut oil. :) Located on State Street between Liberty & Williams, it's very accessible by foot. You grab your tray, liner, and tongs when you walk in & have a beautiful variety of baked goods to choose from before you get to the coffee ordering counter. They cash you out and wait at the end of the counter for your specialty drinks to get whipped up quickly! The space is clean & cozy, great for socializing or studying! Shoutout to my foodie friend and fellow Elite Tiffany S. for recommending Ondo Bakery & Cafe! I was so excited upon walking in because it was just like the cafes we visited in Seoul! Very bright and airy, and way more spacious than I was expecting, with lots of seating for eating, studying, and hanging out with friends. The pastries are self-serve, so after we took a look around, we grabbed a tray and some tongs and tried to restrain ourselves from picking every item we saw. They had a huge selection of sweet and savory pastries, so it was really tough to narrow down our selection. We picked a strawberry New York roll, an Earl Grey doughnut, and a matcha scone. Each item is labeled by name only, so it is a fun adventure if there's something unfamiliar. Once you're ready, take your tray to the counter and order any drinks. I got the black sesame latte, iced at the employee's recommendation. Our drinks came out quickly and they arrange them alphabetically by name like they do at Starbucks (bonus points for taking my name). The black sesame latte was SO good - super creamy, nutty, and just the right level of sweet. I want to drink this every day. The pastries were all delicious but my favorite was definitely the New York roll - it's basically a circular, filled croissant with some icing. It was crispy and flaky, sweet but not too sweet, and I want to try every flavor! (They had at least 8 different flavors.) Apparently this is a viral thing that started in NYC and I hope to see them make their way to GR! It wasn't too crowded in the pastry area when we were there, but it was also during U of M's spring break. I could see it getting packed! I asked if this is a chain, and they said it's not - it is a local Korean owned business and they make all their pastries in house. Amazing! First of all, I hate the parking situation here, drive around for a good 10 minutes to even find a spot. Place wasn't too busy when I came here, tried a matcha latte and a matcha pastry. The latte was good, next time I worn eh adding the strawberry foam, it kind of made the latte taste a bit like a latte mixed with a smoothie. I wasn't too big of a fan of the foam part. The matcha itself was amazing tasting! The matcha pastry was soooo good, can't remember the name of it but it was a round "croissant" filled with a matcha cream, wow! I saw this place on TikTok and I finally got to check them out! It's very similar to Tous Les Jour with almost the same layout. Even some of the pastries are the same, but they do have a larger selection of sweets. Especially the formerly viral cream filled croissant rolls. So obsessed with Ondo! It's a very beautiful Korean inspired bakery and cafe with an almost overwhelming amount of pastries and treats to choose from. I've loved everything I've gotten from the bakery and I also really like their drinks. My latest obsession has been their hojicha! It's soo good and a nice alternative to matcha with a more nutty flavor. I love that they're so spacious so even when it's busy I can always grab a seat/table. Due to its location this place sometimes gets pretty busy but staff are always friendly and service is pretty quick. I was so excited to try the NY roll. We got a lemon and cookies and cream. They are filled with a yummy cream. My favorite was the tiramisu croissant. Lovely! Not a lot of coffee flavor, but still delicious. I bet it would go great with one of their lattes. The service was great, and the interior is clean and spacious. I stopped by in here one day when I noticed they were having a Dairy Boy pop-up, complete with a DIY bouquet-making experience, Photo Booth area, and clothing/accessories to shop from while you enjoy your drink and pastry. I ordered their tiramisu latte which I asked for with half syrup as I noticed from other reviews that their drinks may be on the sweeter side. It was tasty, but I did find a random piece of rope/floss in my drink which was gross :( Not all the pastries, while cute, looked very fresh, so I didn't try any of the food here. What better time to stop into a delicious cafe and bakery than on your birthday?? It means you can go wild ordering delicious pastries and beverages and not feel bad about it, right? Came in here for the first time, yes, on my birthday. It was a bit busy in there and I was a bit tired after a day running around so we decided to get our treats to go. I immediately spotted the New York rolls (rolled croissants with filling) which appear to be their signature item. I grabbed one of those, the mango filled option, right away. I also needed a slice of birthday cake, right? So I got a slice of the the raspberry chocolate variety. My husband ordered the matcha New York roll and the blueberry taro cake. To wash it down with I ordered the sea salt cream caramel latte which was SO good! They use real caramel sauce that they make in house (I think, it definitely did NOT taste commercial) and it was so good that after I finished the drink I went and got a spoon and scraped all the little bits at the bottom out to eat it. No caramel left behind! At home we started with the croissant roll. It was VERY good. I have to admit I didn't get a lot of mango flavor out of it but I really liked the custard filling either way so I found it very enjoyable. It's also BEAUTIFUL presentation (just make sure you snap a photo there because it's not very good at staying upright during travel). Later, after dinner, I enjoyed my slice of cake and it was also excellent. A dense, deep chocolate cake layered with a raspberry frosting that I could tell had fresh raspberries in it, not flavoring. Overall, a very solid start to what I'm sure will be an ongoing relationship with Ondo! I still have to come back for the savories, after all! read more

I went here two days in a row, it was THAT good. I've tried the chocolate and strawberry New York roll, the egg salad roll, an egg tart, and a tiramisu croissant with a friend. The chocolate New York Roll was definitely the prize winner but everything was good. The tiramisu croissant needed more coffee flavor in my opinion snd I didn't love the egg tart (but I believe it was made well; it was my first time trying it, I just don't think it's my thing). The baristas and workers were so kind and I really enjoyed talking with them a little. The ambiance was weirdly perfect. For example, there were plenty of people there talking and enjoying themselves but it was still quiet snd muffled enough to study if you needed too. Came into Ondo on a Saturday morning around 8 am and there was already a large variety of pastries to choose from! There were salty and savory and sweet. They had some cake slices out as well! Just a heads up for anyone interested in the New York Rolls (the big round croissant-like pastries) they said that they do usually have them every day, but they're not typically out until 9-9:30. Totally understandable and fine! Just thought it was worth mentioning since I know they're a big hit. We tried a sweet garlic baguette which was a 10/10- absolutely incredible. It was much lighter than I was expecting and I mean that as a massive positive note. Such depth of flavor! We also tried the Nutella Twist pastry. It was amazing- I'd rate 8.5/10. It was chewy and delicious and lots of chocolate throughout! It had a bit too much cocoa powder on top on some areas, which I love cocoa powder but it seemed just a tiny bit overboard in some areas of the pastry. We also tried the sun-dried tomato and cheese ciabatta which was another 10/10. I wouldn't change a thing! Perfectly seasoned and perfect combo of flavors with the best texture of ciabatta. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of customer service. The staff weren't outwardly rude, however they weren't outwardly nice either. We weren't greeted at all and they really didn't say much even when we were checking out. They did answer a question that I asked and certainly weren't rude at all, it just felt a bit awkward the whole time and not the most warm and welcoming of places that I've been to. This is my favorite bakery on campus! There are so many amazing treats to try on any given day, just make sure you get there relatively early now that people know about all the deliciousness or else you will walk in to quite a few empty displays! I highly recommend the taro blueberry cake, caramel macchiato cake, and the earl grey cream puffs! But honestly, everything is soooo good! Don't forget the drinks too! I love their honey bush banana nut tea (hot or cold) year-round! Also, it's very cute inside (although usually crowded) so I'd recommend it more for a casual date rather than a study spot! read more

I tried ondo based off of friends really liking it, however, I must disagree. The aesthetic of the coffee shop is really cute and I enjoyed working here...if you can find a table. Also the people here tend to take up an entire 4 person table for themselves. I asked multiple people if I could sit on the other end and received a no every time. The line to order is also always long and they move very slow. I got a chocolate almond croissant which was actually pretty good, all the pastries look good, but they don't warm them up for you. I also got a sea salt caramel latte which I really did not enjoy. It is so sweet, which could be my fault in ordering but I also tried a sip of other lattes and they were all extremely sweet. Had the most beautiful experience here this morning. I had the monkey bread and the salted caramel latte. The monkey bread was to die for, and all of the other pastries looked amazing. The latte had a foam on top that was similar to mascarpone, it was decadent and lined with a caramel sauce that tasted fresh and home made. Amazing. Service was nice and fast.
