Crispy spring rolls were made fresh and tasted great! The pork dumplings were also excellent. You have condiments at the table to doctor up the sauces as you'd like. Lots of boba options. Service was friendly. They did forget one of our dishes but promptly got it going for us when we told them. You can watch the ladies made the dumplings too. Will return as there are many more items I need to try! So nice to have a place as good as Din Tai Fung in north county! Curious about One More Bite Dumplings, we wanted to try several options. Though the menu seemed extensive and overwhelming in an online order forum, we finally settled on Pork Spicy Wonton, Chicken Fried Udon, Crab and Pork and Crab Xian Long Bao, Chicken and Corn Pan Fried. Dumplings. The order process was very easy and the food was ready upon pick up. We immediately tried a Chicken and Corn Pan Fried Dumpling on our way home. It was nicely cooked juicy, and the chicken was quality inside. When we've got home, we served up a little of each food and we're very pleased. The udon noodles, we're done to perfection just the right amount of chewy and softness. The flavor combination of the Pork Spicy Wonton left us craving more. The Pork and Crab Xian Long Bao was a perfect blend of the 2 proteins. Everything was so delicious, we had a second helping. Here's what we ordered: - House Special Onion Pancake ($7.99) - Decent, would order again. - Red Bean Paste Buns ($7.50)--I absolutely loved the read bean paste in these! Just the perfect level of light sweetness. Would order again! - Vegetable Pan-fried Dumplings ($14.99) - Vegetable steamed dumplings ($14.99) - Both the dumpling orders had the same filling and tasted pretty much the same. They were good enough. A good option for vegetarians/vegans. All around very good! It is a little bit on the pricier side and they explained because many of their things are imported and that's why they were closed for a while too. I really like the quality of the food. I've yet to try more on their menu. Easily spend $60-$70 for two people here. I like their water. It tastes good. It's a clean store. Their dishes are not so clean though. There were several that were not clean, but I bet they would be more than willing to swap it out for me if I'd ask. The service is very nice and attentive. We came during a weekend for dinner and it was not too busy. I love that they have a hand washing station! Not many places have that. Saved me the trouble of going to the bathroom to wash my hands. They were closed for quite awhile, but I'm glad they've reopened. I bring different people here each time to try. This is my absolute favorite dumpling house in North County. Outside of my favorite dim sum classics, my favorite One More Bite Dumping dish has become the fried sticky rice dumpling with ground pork. So much so, I often place an additional order at the end of my meal to take home. My number two dish is their pork chop egg fried rice. My husband can't get enough of their steamed pork ribs, his favorite dim sum. Parking can be a butt due to the lack of spaces and the types of businesses the lot serves (i.e. 7-11, barber shop, etc.). As a work around, we often dine during the week day to avoid the rush. read more

Having moved to Cardiff, further from Convoy and Mira Mesa than I used to be, I felt like I was in a dim sum desert. It was a relief to drive by this place while in San Marcos, and my husband and I stopped by for lunch while in the area after reading generally good reviews on Yelp. We arrived around 12:15pm on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised to not have a wait. Although there are no carts to pick from, ordering by menu was easy, and they had most of my go-to's like har gow (pretty good, decently sized), pork shu mai (like my mom used to make, with a shiitake mushroom undertone), and sesame balls. It would be nice if they could add turnip cakes, rice noodle rolls with shrimp, and sticky rice cakes. The fried udon was fine, but I prefer the thinner egg noodles. Overall, it was a nice dim sum fix, the servers were all responsive when we needed something, and it didn't take long for the food to come out. I'd happily come back! read more

Located in a small/medium sized lot, we visited on a Sunday for lunch around noon and we were seated right away. They have a multi-stall men and women's bathroom with the handwashing station outside the bathrooms. The restaurant has a very clean and calm atmosphere with plenty of staffs working the hall. They have an open kitchen to their dumpling making station and have a separate drink kitchen. The matcha smoothie with cheese foam was really good with the bitterness of the matcha and saltiness of the cheese foam. It wasn't overly sweet either. The tiger milktea had soft and chewy boba and was also not too sweet. Their wontons were overall really clean, light and healthy tasting: not too oily, fatty or salty. The wonton soup was light with a hint of black pepper and the soup inside the XLB was super flavorful! The spicy sauce for the wontons was sweet and mildly spicy (spice level of 1?). The pork ribs had a strong flavor of scallion oil in a good way. Consider me one of the converted. I must admit that, given its location in a slightly out of the way strip mall in San Marcos, I came into One More Bite with low expectations. There are other dumpling houses in North County, but they've all been a bit disappointing. OMB is the exception that proves the rule. The interior of the establishment is considerably more chic than I expected. Handsome decor (complete with branding on various items) and an airy space makes it a very pleasant place to eat. The menu is broad, focusing on bao and dim sum, but including a number of varied dishes like fried noodles and rice. There are some Japanese-ish dishes (e.g., fried udon and edamame), but they fit in well with the menu's vibe. And for the most part, the food is very good indeed. The dumplings of course are their standouts. Their xiaolong bao are excellent and some of the largest I have ever seen. Their shumai are similarly proportioned. Their fried chicken dishes are wonderful as well. They do lose a few points for their fried noodles: they are perfectly edible, but they tend on the bland side and the textures are a disappointing. Overall, this is a great, relatively new addition to the North County scene. I find it always a good sign when I try a place for the first time and then come back a few days later to try more of their offerings. I think One More Bite set a record: I came back the next day. The dumplings here are savory, juicy and steaming hot! The fried rice was okay enough. It wasn't too oily but wasn't fried enough. They do their fried pork a little differently than I am used to - it reminded me of pork cutlet and not a salt and pepper crispy pork style. The shumai and hargow were excellent! This place is new and super popular so be prepared for slow service and wait times. A few of our dishes got mixed up with another table but the staff was happy to remedy it and we still had a delicious meal here. This is our newest favorite dumpling spot! I'd say it's the closest thing to an affordable Din Tai Fung in San Diego. Everything was tasty but the standouts are the fried dumplings, pork chop fried rice, and BBQ pork buns. They have boba too but I have yet to try it. We came here on a Monday night around 630pm. They didn't have a line nor was it crazy busy. My sister did tell me that it was pretty busy during the weekend, when they open. So just be aware of that. Parking wise, it's a small lot and there's other places that are popular there, like 7/11. Any case, we got seated right away, party of four and we viewed the menu and got our waters. The menu has options for everyone, and prices that are pretty fair. They also have really good boba drinks and when you say, half sweet, it's legit half sweet. I ordered the jasmine lemon bomb tea. It was refreshing and I asked for half sweet and it was a good balance of sweet and tart. I appreciated it. As for the food... We ordered the pork chop with rice and man, that pork chop was so so flavorful and so good. Which was good because we felt that the rice needed a little bit more salt or some flavor because it was a bit mild. But again, we appreciated the balance between the meat and the rice. We also ordered the popcorn chicken and that was good, standard flavor, no complaints. We got the pork soup dumplings. They were really flavorful. The soup flavor was so so good, not too salty but so savory. The only thing was that the skin was a little thicker than what we like but we would take the flavor of this dumpling over the dumpling skin. It was delicious. We also ordered the chicken and corn pan fried dumpling. That was okay. You can taste the corn and chicken, not sure if we would get it again. We ordered it to be different. The other item we ordered was the spicy wonton. Again, that was good too but it wasn't spicy to us. The other item we ordered was the chicken udon. It was so good. Who knew that it was so good. It was a good balance of meat, veggies and noodles. We appreciated this other option they had. Some things we liked and other things were just okay. Often when looking at the reviews of a new restaurant, I see a number of early 5-star ones from brand new yelpers, all with just that single entry under their belts. It's disheartening as someone who counts on this site for honest opinions, but it's a part of Yelp that you constantly see regardless. In spite of that, One More Bite has been hopping into my Yelp feed for the last few weeks and it caught my eye and stomach. So, I ended up gathering the family for a sit-down. And holy crap, is this place fantastic! We started with the House Special Onion Pancake, a fried to crispy and chewy delight that was soft, warm, and lightly sweet from the cooked down onion filling. All of us had a bite and all of us went in for another. My son and I split the Fried Calamari which was lightly crispy, extremely tender, and served with some delicious and lightly spicy chili sauce. Honestly, I believe this was the best fried calamari I've ever had from anywhere. We then all shared a plate of Pork Xiao Long Bao. These were tender, perfectly steamed, with a juicy and umami flavored interior that was a perfect pop in the mouth when bitten into. Kudos to the team that were making these on-site, because they were incredible. My wife and daughter split the Beef Fried Udon with Black Pepper Sauce. The noodles themselves were perfect, soft and chewy, with a fantastic texture. The beef was very tender, melting in the mouth, and had a nice variety of vegetables cooked alongside. The only issue we had with these was the sauce, my wife wishing there were more options (aside from JUST Black Pepper) to go along with the fried udon, and me wishing the sauce had been a bit more cooked down during frying for a more caramelized and sticky flavor. Next, because my bottomless 12 year old was still hungry, we ordered a round of the Shrimp & Pork Pan-Fried Dumplings. These were impressively cooked, with a bit of added starch in the pan, making for tender dumplings that had a nice and delicately crispy lattice stuck to the bottoms of each. Very tasty. And we ended with a serving of their Red Bean Paste Buns, which are served as cute, little piggy buns that are as fun to eat as they are to make soft and desperate voices for while others eat them. Seriously, One More Bite Dumpling House is absolutely fantastic and my family had a delicious dinner that I would very much like to return to for another. With decor this fantastic, food this incredibly good, and the added kitsch of the playful kids' chopsticks and sugary boba ... this is a restaurant that everyone should have on their lists to try. This new Chinese restaurant is still working out some kinks but the food is very good and the workers are trying hard. Parking is free but can be tough in this spot. If the lot is full , there is always free parking on the street which is just a very short walk from the restaurant. You walk in and there is no host stand or other greeter. It is confusing and they should address this. If they are busy (and they may be very busy), you check in on a little tablet just to the right of the door. Then they text you and/or call your name when your table is ready. A lot of people walk in and, through no fault of their own, stand inside looking hopelessly for the host. The restaurant needs to move the tablet in front of the door or do something else to address this problem. If you are worried about the freshness of the food, worry no more. Literally next to the waiting area is a team of workers making fresh dumplings before your eyes. It is fun to watch. Onto the food: Onion pancakes? Good but a tad greasy. Popcorn chicken? You get a big portion and they are very crunchy. I liked this hearty appetizer a lot. Chicken and corn dumplings? They are huge and delicious and absolutely wonderful. Pork XLB? They are good and there is nothing wrong with them but I wish they were slightly bigger and had more broth. It is a minor complaint. They have a ton of boba and tea drinks available and they are excellent. The taro boba milk tea was delectable and calmed my mouth which was suffering from the spicy chili oil I dumped on almost everything. The Sunrise Galaxy Tea was fruity and refreshing. I am no expert on Chinese cuisine but I believe the food here is authentic, if that matters to you (it doesn't really matter to me as long as it tastes good). And, unlike many authentic Chinese restaurants, the service here was very friendly and attentive. They are really trying hard to make sure you have a good experience. Personally, I love seeking out excellent Chinese restaurants and the authentic ones normally give zero thoughts or cares as to service. I expect zero service from them and I am ok with it. All of the employees are extremely attentive to customer needs, and you can watch their dumplings and noodles be made in house! Everything here was delicious! A lot of dim sum staple items here like bbq pork buns and ha gao, but an absolute must is the xiao long Bao. All of them are delicious, and having black vinegar and sliced ginger is icing on the cake. The crispy pork was very hot, super crunchy and full of flavor. We also ordered the pepper beef udon noodle plate which was packed full of beef, noodles, veg and a balanced pepper flavor. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our server was right out to take drink orders. Then we ordered Edamame, Spring Rolls, friend Pork and Shrimp dumplings, and Spicy Vegetable Dumplings and Udon. Everything was delicious. A word of warning, these guys do not play around with the "spicy"! I live for a plate of anything spicy (yeah, I'm that guy who orders Thai food at a level 10). We have been missing good dim sum in San Diego. We were super excited to see that they have a small selection of dim sum, so we had to make the drive and try it out. The decor was just right and I love that there was an open area where you can see folks making the dumplings fresh. We ordered almost the whole dim sum menu minus a few items and wow we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The key thing is it is made fresh and has not been sitting around for too long. The dumpling skin was the perfect thinness and good filling ratio. Our favorites from the dim sum menu was the egg tart, sesame balls, and shumai. Service was excellent throughout. It was a bit hard towards the end to wave down the waiter with the machine to pay our bill so it took a little bit longer than typical. Perhaps get 2 machine or provide other ways to pay. read more

Really glad to have this restaurant in San Marcos! We showed up at 6:30 on a Monday night and while it was packed, there was not a long wait. You put your name down on their waitlist and there are a few benches you can sit on while waiting. The staff move quickly and try to get you seated as soon as they can. The ordering is on a paper order form, and the food comes out pretty quickly. We liked the Xiaolong bao, which was juicy, very hot when it came out, and the wrap was not too thick. They provide thin sliced ginger to go with your sauces. We also got pan fried shrimp and pork dumplings which were very good, as was the popcorn chicken. The Shrimp & pork wontons in spicy sauce turned out to be very spicy, so beware if you cannot handle spice. Lastly the sesame balls are huge, so we cut them in half and shared. The restaurant is spacious, well lit, and clean, and the servers were attentive and friendly. ----TL;DR---- Pros: location is convenient to San Marcos, near Cal State SM campus, and there's a parking lot out front. The service here is great and they are super nice and attentive. They even gave us these free keychains that were soo cute! I also loved how cozy the ambiance felt inside.
