Friendly staff, dentist, and environment. I was scared of staff being rude, and poor treatment because I have a disability that dentist and staff were aware of, and I felt at ease, since I tend to get really nervous, but all was good. Dr. Collins (dentist) was super nice and friendly. He has a sense of humor and was clear and direct as well as the assistant Liz. They made my visit very pleasant. Not rude or arrogant at all. I've had horrible experiences at dentists especially because of my disability, but in all honesty, this was the first office where I was treated like an actual patient. It felt good. I was disappointed in myself when Dr. Collins said I needed a root canal and crown since I never in my life have had work like that in my life, but Dr. Collins and his staff had options for me to feel comfortable with the procedure. My appointment is already scheduled for the procedure at another office since I am nervous for it as they do not offer fully sedation options, as I scheduled in the place of referral ( Edge Endo in Austin). Monday ( June 9, 2025) Not looking forward to that, but it is what it is and I have to get it done. Currently on antibiotics for 7 days prescribed by Dr. Collins, but overall very good experience. So 7 months ago this place "fired" me as a patient because I told the truth about how they operate. They billed my insurance company for a procedure I paid out of pocket for and now they claim I still owe them 300. They owe me over 3k for my paying out of pocket and then getting money from my insurance company. Reason I am writing this today is because I got a phone call today asking to set up an appointment for a deep cleaning. This place doesn't know what it's doing. Front office don't know what back office is doing. The dentist says he doesn't know what's going on but it's his practice. How do you not know what's going on in your own facility? I found a better place that does it like it's supposed to be done. Do the work, bill insurance and then bill patient. Even my own dental insurance told me that is the proper way to do it. read more

This office is getting worse since I started my dental work almost 3 years ago. Was sold on, (and paid in full) mini implants, top and bottom. They decided I didn't need the uppers so we agreed on procedures to make my uppers match my lowers. I still have three showing smile teeth to be whitened, and one crown redone in the same shade as the others. I've had many delays, canceled appointments, and rescheduling to complete this. I'm not even sure what I had done even comes to the 8k I spent on the upper mini implants not received. They just rescheduled my teeth whitening for a second time because they didn't have the whitening kit! I am so done with this place! read more

Had a good appointment in March, however they do heavily push extras that are multiple hundreds of dollars, such as invisiline. Coming from my old dentist, they had addressed issues and shown me what was going on in x rays or the such, however here they just tell you multiple things they recommend. I probably had 4 or 5 additional things pushed at me. However, the real reason for the 3 stars is after my appointment in March, I made an appointment for October. Both my sisters who also had their appointments in March have had their appointments be cancelled on them, and I called today to check if mine was still in and the lady didn't even see them. I went there to take my daughter for a cleaning and checkup and they gave me the run down on the costs which was pricy. She had a tooth infection and it took a week calling almost everyday talking to a new person to get them to call in her antibiotics. Finally she got the antibiotics and I called to schedule an appointment for just the fillings and no body called back. The tooth infection came back and they never filled it after requesting again. Needless to say do not waste your time. Their functionality as a business is terrible as far as reception goes. Had to pay upfront for an expensive procedure. Felt odd having to pay for a service before it happened. Had to reschedule due to catching the flu. Dentist called saying I had to be referred to a specialist for my procedure even though they had already did part of it during my first appointment. The office kept giving me different reasons why I was being referred out after I had already paid. The doctor would not come speak to us about why exactly I was being referred. Only after I said I'd be reporting this behavior did the doctor call saying he'd answer any questions we had. read more

Worst dentist ever! Took forever to do my elderly mom's implants (18 months). She was in so much pain every time she went to see him that she dreaded each visit. When we tried to discuss the situation with him, rather than being concerned, he got very defensive and offended and acted like it was her problem. She finally got her implants, but they are so uncomfortable that she still struggles using her temporaries. She lost over 30 lbs because it hurt too bad to eat. Did I mention that she paid around $5,000 for all of that anguish? One would think it's an isolated incident, but he also gave my sister an excruciating experience. I was preparing for a major surgical procedure which was scheduled for June 3rd 2021 in Dallas Texas, as a precautionary my Orthopedic Surgeon referred me out for dental check-up to rule out any possible oral infections. I scheduled an appointment with One Smile Dental in Bastrop Texas (Owned by Dr. Nathan Collins). Well after the checkup I was advised that I needed to have the Peridon cleaning in addition to a root canals then front receptionist Mayra Esqueda provided me with a verbal "in-person" quote in the amount of $3078.00. I was confused as to why the quote was so high, I asked several times why was the quote so expensive and what portion was the insurance paying...needless to say, the only thing that they were interested in was collecting payment, they had no answers for me, they just kept trying to feed me with payment options with financing the total through Wells Fargo and some of the other financing companies that they use. I asked them if there was any way that they could break then payment up into maybe 3 payments, that would work best for me, but I was told that they did not have payment plan option. I left the office highly upset, but I went ahead a scheduled the appoint out of being out of options and out of time because I needed this work for medical release. When I arrive home, I called the office on 4 different occasions and asked for a hard copy of the quote to be emailed over to me (not a unreasonable request...I shouldn't have left the dentist office without a treatment plan in hand and the quote, but nothing was provided to me). Mayra ended up emailing then document to me on 4 different times and each time there was a different quote (I am led to believe that then ladies in this office either don't have a freaking clue or they are incredibly stupid crooks by pricing gouging and splitting profits). On the day of the procedure which was 5/50/2021, I arrived for then first part of the procedure and the lady at the front desk advised that today's visit will be $1532.00 I paid her $1000 in cash money and $532.00 via visa (reference number 15859234). I asked he, "why did the amount decrease, I thought that the quote was for $3078.00"? She stated that, "Mr. Bates I am not sure I am just taking the payment as I see it in the system...it's possible that we have already billed your insurance and they have already sent payment". I was cool with that, I went back and got the dental work done...as I was leaving the lady confirmed with awe that was in fact that the pay was reduced. I came back the following week for the second half of the dental work and then receptionist advised that today''s visit will be $785...I almost passed out because you first collected all money during the first visit (WE DO NOT HAVE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS), So why am I paying anything out of pocket at all during this visit? I paid the bill upfront plus you guys advised that you had already billed the insurance company and they had already paid out??? (sounds like fraud). Needless to say I called my insurance company and request an EOB...The EOB states that the One Smile Dental sent in a claim on 05/20/2021 in the amount of $234.60 with a pay date on 05/27/2021...another on 05/13/2021 in the amount of 832.40 with a paid confirmed pay date of 05/27/2021...adding those two numbers together sum a total of $1067.00 I paid you $2317.00 you owe me$1250.00 We spoke to Carley (who identifies as then office manager) on June 11, 2021, she clearly seen that the office staff had over-charged me and stated that she would have a check on her desk no later than June 16, 2021 and would call me on that day to give me the options to either pick up the check or have it mailed to my residence...This commitment was all talk and it never happened...I have not heard from this Carley, as a matter of fact I have called and left numerous messages for her with absolutely no success. Here is my honest opinion of One Smile Dental, Dr. Nathan Collins is one of then best, he is very professional and he obviously cares about his patients because he remembers then things that bring me pain, and my tolerance to medications...the hygienist who assist him in then back are very professional as they are a good reflection of Dr. Collins Professionalism....BUT FROM THE OFFICE MANAGER ALL THE WAY UP TO THE FRONT COUNTER AREA SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR THEFT - THEN TARED, FEATHERED AND FIRED !!! Terrible experience. First the front desk tried to double my charges after I received the written estimate and was back for my appointment. Their charge, if It wasn't for insurance, would have been about $500 for a simple filling. I mentioned to Dr. Omar that there was a large discrepancy in my estimate and the amount I was being charged. His response? "No one likes to pay for the dentist." He did not give a flip that I was being over billed. The reason I went in was because I had a filling that fell out and for a cleaning. Dr. Omar was assigned to me. He couldn't get my tooth numb. At one point I felt him shoving the needle right up against my tooth HARD. The filling was completed and after all of that numbing wore off my tooth hurt to eat. It did not hurt before the filling. I went back a few days later and asked to see Dr. Collins. As soon as he found out Dr. Omar did the work he refused to even look at my tooth. NOW, he said maybe there is a crack in your tooth and I'll need a root canal...and I got the smirk. I went back about two weeks later because I still had pain. Dr. Omar said he had never seen anything like this and they didn't teach him about this in dental school. WTF??? Now, months later I still have pain in that tooth. If I chew minty gum the flavor seeps into, what I now realize is a CRACK from the over drilled filling, and hurts enough to spit the gum out!! Update: Now the new filling has come out!! read more

I would give this dentist a negative 10 stars if I could. He is nothing more than a money grubbing thief. He operates his business like a used car lot not a dental practice. Just know that he ripped off my elderly mother for almost $1700 until we raised enough of a ruckus that he agreed to refund it. She canceled her appt 3 weeks prior to schedule and he still billed her that much. The 'free consultation' isn't free at all. Beware! I will however give his office manager, Carla huge kudos for her professionalism and her kind, pleasant demeanor. She deserves a raise for putting up w his unscrupulous tactics. One Smile Dental in Bastrop , Texas has been very good to me. It has taken much longer than I thought it would take but half of the delays were on me. I am getting the Mini Implants. I have 9 implants on the top and 12 on the bottom. What they have been doing for the last 6 months is getting the bite correct and getting the teeth to look like I want them to look. Doctor Collins is a very nice man. He doesn't spend a lot of time with you except on the day that they drill the holes and install the implants. He has 6 work stations (rooms) that dental work is being done. He also has 6 Dental Hygienist that work on you when he is in another room working on another client. Doctor Collins is 43 years old and loves his staff very much. He is so nice to them that at first I thought it was all fake but the guy is actually that nice. I don't know much about him, I don't even know if he is married. What I do know is that he has good taste in Art and he likes the comic Patton Oswalt. Doctor Collins does get out and enjoy the Bastrop Scene. He knows what's going on in Bastrop and Austin. His education must have cost a fortune because he trained to be a dentist for over 10 years. I guess that I do know a little more about him than I thought. After Dr. Collins installed the implants I was handed over to a Dental Hygienist named Crystal. This chick is cool, she is no Snowflake. She knows her job very well. She has been with Dr. Collins for about 9 years. So she has seen it all. If you ask her questions she will give you the proper answer. My problem in the beginning was that I neglected to ask questions. On my defense I didn't know what questions to ask. Crystal has been a pleasure to work with. Like I said the chick is cool , smart, good at her job and friendly. What more could you want? Dr. Collins of course is at the top of One Smile Dental and after him the Big Shot in charge of the 6 Dental Hygienist is Angie. This chick is 30 years old and is sweet as can be. She has been with Dr. Collins for over 10 years. She is great at her job. Sometimes her job puts her in the middle of that Rock & Hard Place. She has to consider what Dr. Collins wants , what the client wants and what the Dental Hygienist wants. Her job is not easy but she does it well. The female that runs the front desk is named Idania ( I probably spelled that wrong). She is the one that greets you when you walk in. She knows everything that is going on in that office. She knows the appointment times for every patient. She knows everything that they do to you and she knows what they will be doing next. There are normally 3 females at the front desk, she is the one in charge of the front desk. You will like her. I have tried to explain One Smile Dental as best that I can. My first visit there. I booked it assuming I was going to get the dentist I had researched. I did not get that dentist. I got a substitute. I should have been told that before the appointment. Also, even worse this practice is not a patient centered practice. It is a profit centered practice. I had a filling that fell out, one that had been in my tooth 15 years. I had another dentist tell me that all I needed was more filling material in the existing hole where the old filling was. What does One Smile Dental tell me: I need a crown on that tooth. I had been a patient of Dr. Collins for years and WAS quite satisfied to a point that I referred several friends. It all changed once he started with the mini implants deal. No matter what your dental issue was the recommended treatment was mini implants. I had a lose tooth and after a few visits with the same results, antibiotics and pull all your teeth to get mini implants. As I didn't agree with the whole teeth extraction no other options were offered. I lost a crown and made an appointment. It wasn't even looked at as the "assistants" kept "selling" the whole mini implants deal for around $10,000.00 paid upfront. One Smile Dental update. This is my 3rd YELP review of One Smile Dental. Dr. Collins is a nice enough guy but all he wants his practice to do is MINI DENTAL IMPLANTS. He is fixated on becoming the King of Mini Dental Implants. The other reviews I have read are all correct. There is a large disconnect between Dr. COLLINS and his front desk staff. There really is no communication between him and his front desk staff Also there is no communication between Dr. Collins and his office manager She constantly makes promises that Dr. COLLINS will see you on your next visit then 10 visits later to his office Dr. COLLINS has remained a ghost (unseen). I read one of the YELP REVIEWS that stated that this person disliked the front desk staff & thought the office manager should be tared & feathered. I can not disagree with that statement. If I were Dr. Collins I would fire the entire front Desk staff beginning with the tared & feathered office manager & then go back to the basics of dentistry that got him to where he is today. His obsession with wanting to be the King of Dental Implants even spreads into his work station personal. The dental assistants get all excited when a fool like me steps into his web and buys the Dental Implant package and pays cash up front. Dr Collins is the cult leader and he has 2 special employees that mix the cool aid and hand it out. Beware of buying the Mini Dental Implants. They do not work like you think they will. They do not sit on your gums like dentures do. What you finally learn at the very end is that the Dentures sit on top of the metal implants. The dentures do not touch your gums. There is a slight gap between the dentures and your gums. So while you are eating the metal implants take the entire pressure of you chewing your food. The fewer implants you have that the dentures are glued to the more force is being applied to those metal implants which results in more pain to your gums. Believe me after eating some meals both the top arch and bottom arch hurt for several hours. I like to think of my new Dental Implants as a beach house in Galveston. The entire beach house is sitting on the columns so the entire weight of the beach house is pushing down on these columns. There is no difference between the beach house and the dentures sitting on the implants except for the pain the implants cause your two arches of gums. Save yourself a lot of money and time and instead of buying Mini Dental Implants go to one of the other Dental offices in or near Austin and buy the standard Dental Implants that you can floss and that work just like real teeth do. If you think oh I can save money by buying these Mini Dental Implants don't forget the cost that will be coming down the road when the Mini Dental Implants have to be repaired or replaced. By not having the dentures rest on your gums everytime you eat the implants are taking a beating. I hope I have explained Mini Dental Implants in a way that will help you understand what they really are. In the end it will be much cheaper on your bank account to go with the true tried and dependable standard Real Dental Implants. I hope Dr. COLLINS goes back to his old ways and takes these Mini Dental Implants off of his list of procedures that he does. For cleanings I would go to him but for crowns I would not go there. You now have all of the facts that they don't tell you about until it's to late. They didn't even tell me that I have to come in 2 times a year for cleanings and take at least one X-Ray a year. They wait to tell you that until after they install the mini dental implants and dentures. Every single person that works for Dr. Collins is a truth withholding individual that cares much more about their paychecks than they care about you. There is nothing left to say except " Buyer Beware" Also if you give them money upfront you will never see a penny of that money again. Dr. Collins also offers a VIP PLAN. FOR one person it cost $364 a year. I don't know if there is a tax on that. Then if you have a wife or husband and have children that are not married and are under the age of 21 years old, you can pay another $314 a year to get them Covered under Dr. Collins VIP PLAN. SO for $678 a year your entire family can be covered. If you are single Then it's $364. It looks like the single person should get the lower price of $314 but who am I to question their fees. Here is what you get for the $364 & $314 Plan. Total for your entire family $678 yearly. Here is what you get: Two routine cleanings yearly. Two Florida treatments yearly (which are not needed if you didn't listen to me and got the Mini Implants). Two routine dental exams a year and one set of diagnostic digital X-Rays. So that's how they keep you coming back to them. It's the upsale VIP PLAN. To me it honestly sounds like a good plan for the entire family. It might be the only thing I would recommend buying from One Smile Dental in Bastrop, Texas. read more
