...and the waiting room has fun stuff for bigger kids too...every time I've gone to visit, a teen or 'tween is playing this game!

I've been coming to Aloha Dental for many many years now! I've been through chemotherapy and chemo affects one's oral health in a strong way. Dr. Cynthia Rho has skillfully helped me navigate those waters and I highly recommend her! I almost forgot to mention Greg in the office, the office manager, he is FABULOUS! Always always so very happy to help me with whatever my issue is...change of schedule, payments, etc.

Sharp edge doctor left me to deal with after he perforated my root during a routine root canal

This is not the place to go for a root canal. I wish I would have known this last week. I was seeing a doctor here for the past 2 years and it was great for my 6 month check ups, cleaning, X-ray and even fixed a chipped filling that created a food trap. Don't go here for a root canal. Last week I went In for the first root canal I've ever needed because Dr Mulgrew told me I needed one on my back molar since it looked like it was infected. I've had a great dental history besides cavities and 2 crowns on back molars. Unfortunately during the procedure the root of my tooth was perforated. He sat me up in the middle of the procedure to let me know the tooth can't be saved and tried to blame it on a crack that was never apparent on any X-ray. I told the doctor I was not comfortable with him pulling my tooth at that time because I thought I had gone in for a routine root canal procedure and now I'm being told that my tooth needs to be pulled (shocking for any normal human) He closed it up with temporary filling material then referred me to on oral surgeon and also suggested he remove the tooth. dr Mulgrew left the sharpest razor sharp edge on my tooth which cut my tongue for the next 24 hours, I was numb and couldn't feel it until later that evening. I called the office to let them know that I was unhappy with the care I received and negligence of Doctor Mulgrew for leaving my tooth in the condition he did and that I needed to be seen ASAP to at least have the sharp edge filed down. They told me they couldn't get me in until Tuesday (6 days after my initial appointment) I am now in the predicament of going through tooth extraction and seeking an implant that will cost me thousands of dollars. This truly makes me sad. Thankfully I was able to see another dentist that explained everything that happened to my tooth and why I need to take the next steps. I hope aloha dental learns from this experience, I will never be back. This entire predicament could have been avoided if the doctor referred me to the SPECIALIST that does these procedures by the handful daily. So disappointing.

Do I really have cavities or do you just want me to pay for a filling? I'm not saying dentists should run non-profit businesses, but they also shouldn't be running a scam either. Rest assured Dr Necker and his staff have a great office that will make you feel comfortable and will keep your teeth nice and healthy! I made my first appointment for an exam and cleaning with Dr. Necker and I am so happy I can cross "finding a dentist in Austin" off my list. I actually enjoyed my visit at this dentist office. Dr. Necker is the NICEST man ever. He reminded me to wear my retainer and to floss more, but in the nicest way possible. All of his staff were incredibly friendly as well. The hygienist explained everything before she worked on my mouth, which made me feel very comfortable during the appointment. One other plus for me is the convenient location to my place in East Austin. It's near the HEB on 7th street and there is plenty of parking. if you're looking for a dentist or are unhappy with your current one I would highly recommend Dr. Necker and Central Family Dental Center.

This review is long because it reflects many months of treatment and ongoing consequences. I took…read moretime to write it because I genuinely wanted to believe this practice was competent and cared about its patients. Unfortunately, my experience showed the opposite. When I first came in, my teeth were not in good shape. I had not been to the dentist in years and knew I would need significant work, including fillings, a crown, and likely a root canal. Because of this, I specifically asked to be seen by an experienced dentist. Instead, I was scheduled with Dr. Biggs, who according to the practice's own website had graduated only nine months earlier. The work she performed caused lasting damage. Nearly a year ago, I received two fillings on my upper left teeth. To this day, I cannot chew on that side due to severe pain. For months, the only solution offered was repeated bite adjustments, filing the fillings down multiple times with no meaningful investigation into the cause of the pain. After seeking multiple second opinions and transferring my full dental records, including before and after imaging, I was told by other dentists that the fillings were not done properly and likely caused nerve damage. This assessment was consistent across providers and aligned with the ongoing pain I have experienced since those fillings were placed. During a later visit for a cleaning on the lower half of my jaw, the hygienist was unavailable and Dr. Biggs performed the cleaning herself. During that appointment, she broke my permanent retainer. I felt it happen immediately and she was visibly startled. The dental assistant in the room, Ana, attempted to dismiss it and insisted it had already been broken, which was not true. She continued to tell me that permanent retainers are meant to break, which is false, and tried to deflect the situation with jokes despite how uncomfortable I clearly was. To Dr. Biggs' credit, she did take accountability in the moment. She temporarily sealed the retainer and personally walked me to the front desk, stating it needed to be fixed. However, there was no follow up, no resolution, and I later learned the practice does not even provide that service. It became clear the situation was being minimized rather than addressed. I continued treatment but requested a different dentist and was seen by Dr. Blythe. While she was kind and clearly more experienced, she was dismissive of the pain I repeatedly reported from the earlier fillings. During my crown preparation, she discovered I needed a root canal. That crown preparation left me severely swollen, bruised, and bleeding for three days. I was sent home without pain medication or antibiotics and was only prescribed medication after calling back to explain how much pain I was in. During these appointments, the same dental assistant was extremely rough, repeatedly pushing the suction tube against my jaw and inner cheek. This behavior was again brushed off as normal. The endodontist this practice referred me to was alarmed by the condition of my jaw. She was shocked that I had not been prescribed antibiotics or adequate pain management and told me that was not normal. Because of the swelling and inflammation, anesthesia did not work and the root canal had to be postponed. She prescribed antibiotics immediately. At that point, I was in constant pain, missing work, and emotionally exhausted. I sought another endodontist recommended by a friend, who reviewed my records and again confirmed that what I experienced was not normal or acceptable care. Despite this, I had no choice but to return to the original practice because the crown preparation was already done and insurance would not cover starting over elsewhere. When I relayed what the specialists had said, it was minimized once again. The crown I currently have remains painful and requires further evaluation. Afterward, I received repeated calls reminding me to complete additional work and warning me not to miss out on insurance benefits. Each time I explained why I would not be returning. Each time I was told the office manager would follow up. That never happened. The priority was clearly revenue, not accountability or patient safety. Eventually, I was offered a removable night retainer instead of a permanent replacement. By that point, after months of pain and stress, I was done. I have since obtained multiple independent opinions, all of which confirmed that what I experienced was not appropriate care. I spent significant money only to be left in pain and forced to redo work that should have been done correctly the first time. These high volume clinics prioritize profit over patients. If you value quality, accountability, and long term health, go elsewhere. I wish someone had warned me.

I would not recommend this dental office because the staff is super unfriendly and they have no…read moreidea what they are doing. My cleaning was great but the doctor was rude and the front office seemed to be totally incompetent. Please go ANYWHERE else but here.

Extractions, gum work, all kinds of additional procedures were suggested to me with the underlying threat that if I ignored their advice, I was neglecting my health. Enter Dr. LaBombard and Airport Dental. In 5 years he's only once told me I've needed a filling, and I have had zero issues with pain or infections so I don't think he is undertreating me. My wife, who takes meticulous care of her teeth, also used to regularly have fillings recommended at other practices. At Airport Dental she's had no such issues. The office is clean, quiet, and well-lit but it does not have the spa appearance (or location) of other offices in town. But I'd suggest you ask yourself where those fancy offices are getting their money from. The hygienists are all great too and everyone in the office seems to get along. I've had multiple hygienists work on my chronically tea-stained teeth and they've all been great but Dillon has deft hands and the patience of a saint. They also give you these cool heart-eye sunglasses while they work on you, which is such a small but fun touch that makes everything feel less clinical and more comfortable.
