But... there's some serious room for improvement. The checkout experience can be a total nightmare - endless lines with one or two lines open. Very frustrating. What's even more so is when lines abruptly close as you walk up! There's never anyone restocking, so when meats and produce run out, that's it until the next day. (They really could learn from the Trader Joe's business model). However, I did witness something promising this evening... THREE cashiers on duty at the same time! Geresbeck's has the best sales in town when it comes to seafood. The shrimp is always cheap & they steam on site. On a recent visit while waiting for my shrimp to be steamed, I took a walk around the market to see what else I could buy. Geresbeck's has a great speciality ice cream section. They had my favorite Taharka Brother's honey graham ice cream and some other tasty choices. I ended up in the bakery department and saw SO MANY delicious looking baked goods from a peanut butter Boston crème cake to banana pudding parfaits to mini cheesecakes. Their doughnuts are huge and made with the love of someone that loves to bake. I took quite a bit of photos showcasing their selections. As I walked through the store, I started to get a little hungry for a snack. I came back around to the deli/hot foods department and saw a mountain of tasty looking western fries. Now, western fries are extremely popular in Baltimore and the surrounding counties. I've had my share of western fries from the center of the city, to Brass Hen in Eastpoint mall, to even Royal Farms. All were delicious, BUT THESE FRIES WERE ABSOLUTE LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!! They were crunchy like a piece of fried chicken and tender inside like a fluffy baked potato. Omg, I can taste them right now. They were so, so amazingly yummy. If you love potatoes, or any variation of fries, you'd LOVE these. I actually may go back very soon for a fix. I didn't need salt, pepper, ketchup, NOTHING. Now, for my only gripe about Geresbeck's is that I wouldn't necessarily buy goods outside of the seafood, bakery or specialty items. I found that other items in the store, unless on sale, are higher priced than other grocery stores. But they have to counterbalance that with the affordable seafood prices, right? Anyways, if you're in the area, stop by and pick you up some delicious doughnuts and western fries while you're there. When you get there, you're sure to be met with security guards, some with or without bullet proof vests. There are people lingering/ loitering outside for various reasons, particularly in the summer. Some are hacking, selling "things", and waiting for people to leave the store to ask them if they need help with their groceries. One of the reasons people will need help with their groceries is because the carts cannot exit beyond the cement pillars. So, if someone is shopping by themselves and has bags that would require more than one trip to the vehicle. They would have to leave their cart and get their vehicle or ask someone for help which can lead to a number of other issues. These options are a major safety concern particularly for women shopping alone. Food Depot a good place to get staples and a few things when you don't have time to travel to your favorite stores. The quality of the fish varies. I have seen fish displayed that have obviously decayed beyond an acceptable amount of time and was destined for the trash weeks prior. If you go on a good day, you can get great quality wild caught fish which is a bonus for those looking for a relatively good price. The fish mongers are the professional and knowledgeable. This department is the primary reason I go to the store. The Hot foods section looks unappetizing and unhealthy. I had a horrible experience with a cashier who was the only lane open for people with more than 20 items. I have vision issues beyond the need to wear glasses and I was barely able to make out on the screen that she charged me twice for onion rings; however, I only had one bag. she grabbed another bag of chips and asked me if I could see this bag (which she held in her hand) and asked me if I could see this bag up there (on the screen) I said no. She said, " that's because the other bag of chips could not scan so, I scanned the onion rings twice. That cashier needs training, she didn't have to ask me if I saw this bag on the screen. She should have simply explained one bag couldn't scan so I scanned this one twice. That was insulting, and disability (vision) harassment. I paid and left, without the intent to return. When you check out, you'll see vendors along the wall selling T-shirts, hats, perfumes, etc. that section makes the store look like a flea market. And, then you see the broken glass exit door, which makes you wonder what happened here. Then, the cycle begins again, people with various purposes are waiting outside. It's a shame, food depot could be better if they had better customer service, management and removed the riff raff. This type of experiences is one, if not the only reason I spend/ grocery shop only in the county. I have been trying to spend money in urban communities, however, experiences like this make it difficult.

I left my wallet there for days and they held onto it until I realized where I left it, and returned it with all my money untouched. The employees are always helpful and personable, and will help give you the best deals! I feel safe leaving my backpack and bike at the front of the store knowing the employees will keep an eye on it for me. The store may have random selections of products but what they do have is usually for a good price, and the employees are always willing to help with whatever you need. What I do use Eddie's for is there emphasis on local items as well as their fancy cakes. I prefer this location as I have had much better luck dropping in and finding specific cake flavors and like that there is an actual parking lot versus a tiny garage. I will purchase local kombucha, coffee and vegan ice cream sometimes at Eddie's. I like the selection they have, especially of Zeke's coffee and Wild Bay kombucha. For the bakery, I go to Eddie's because they have slightly fancier cakes that can be picked up at any time (don't need to pre-order). Of course, you can pre-order, which is advisable, because you never know what they will have in stock. For my wife's last birthday, I grabbed a raspberry and chocolate cake which the bakery employee offered to write a message on at no extra charge. What a cool service! Eddie's has a decent selection of gluten free and vegan items. I will peruse them but don't usually purchase because of the price point. Anyways, Eddie's is cool and I will definitely continue to visit on special occasions. The prices keep it from being a regular grocery destination.
