    Ramen & Sushi

I was in need of some ingredients and I am so glad I found this spot! It seems like a family-run business that prides itself on quality. This can be found in the different items they have! I was very suprised to see that they had KissMe products, which I havent seen outside of Japan! I also love their small restaurant food options. I got the ramen and sushi, while my friend got the pork katsu. Everything was delicious and well priced! You can tell that each dish is prepared in house and with care. Everyone there was also very nice and were greeted upon entering! so so happy to have found this spot in Indy! I will be back!

I enjoyed my experience here. I love Asian food and snacks so it was right up my alley. The food was OK to me. It didn't wow me but it did taste authentic and was well made so I appreciate that. I love that I could shop and get a meal. And the prices are GREAT. The people at the register were cool. The place is small and filled up with stuff so definitely don't bring your bulky stroller like I did.

One World Market is a really nice, niche grocery store that has the few things you just can't find anywhere else. But I wouldn't return for the sushi... not anything wrong with it. Just not great for the prices you pay. After a handful of times here, I'll say the service is always hit or miss. One young lady was beyond kind... the other two On my own.

2 years since my last review and things have only gotten better! They upgraded the to go fridge and always keep that sucker stocked to the brim with good stuff!! Prices have gone up a bit with inflation but nothing unreasonable. Rice is always perfect, nothing is ever old! If you order at the counter, order before you shop and try to align your wait with your adventure. Pro-tip: Get a chirashi bowl and then top it off with some more fish and egg from the larger fridge by the freezer

I absolutely love everything about this store. The staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful and they have amazing assortment of products from the Nagiri to their Boba to their fresh sushi, it is amazing. The store is so clean and it has a little Eden area on the side where you can get your Ramen and your sushi and eat it fresh right there. I go there at least once a month.

Miss pre Covid kitchen menu. I miss the fact that they used to serve the food in the actually bowl not take away plastic box. I went there after sushi kitchen close so I tried the curry. Curry is pretty good, tastes and amount. The ramen is not as good as expected. Anyhow, it's still good to get grocery and sushi (esp chirashi). The ambiance is remained clean and well oriented. The staffs are nice as usual too.

Ask the Community - One World Market - Indy

Do they sell sushi grade fresh fish to make sashimi at home?

The do! It is right next to their To Go case. I have bought it many times and it is always good!

Can I find a Lucky Cat there or Fortune Cat?

Yes, they do often have the Maneki-Neko figures there. As well as others.

That said, this is not my favorite Saraga. (My favorite Saraga is the one in Castleton.) This Saraga is a little grody, to be honest. But how can you hate on a grocery store that exists in Indianapolis with such an abundance of food from all around the world? Overall, I am so glad this place is here. I visited Saraga not knowing what I was looking for, but was quickly drawn to the Japanese snacks aisle. I saw lots of different flavors of Ramune (that Japanese marble soda), which is my children's favorite, and Pocky, my favorite. Then I went to the seafood aisle and looked at the fish swimming in the aquarium below their unlucky brethren who had been filleted and arranged in the display case. Then I walked to the Mexican food aisle and saw many kinds of Mexican candy. The frozen food aisle had lots of different things, from Indian samosas to Korean vegetable pancakes. The meat aisle is hardcore. But, that's to be expected at an international grocery store. Be prepared to see pig snouts and chicken feet packaged next to less offensive, ambiguous red hunks of meat. This is the place to get bulk rice and beans, imported snacks and produce that you can't find anywhere else, like yuca root and plantains. I love Saraga in general, and this one is good and important to this part of Indy.

My favorite things to buy here are: 1. Jamaican ginger ale (non-alcoholic). Has a real gingery bite. American ginger ale will seem weak by comparison after trying this. 2. Plantains, very green, for slicing and deep-frying into chips. 3. Palm oil. This is a "bad" oil high in saturated fat, but I use it in moderation. One, for "seasoning" cast-iron skillets (instead of Crisco). And two, just a teaspoon added to "good oil" when cooking popcorn. (I cook regular non-microwave popcorn in a wok, using 2 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon of peanut oil or corn oil, plus 1 teaspoon of palm oil, plus 1/2 cup of popcorn kernals.) The palm oil gives it a movie-theater flavor and a little tint of orange. 4. Canned powdered (dry) whole milk. Most powdered milk you buy at American groceries is non-fat. This has all the cream. I don't like to buy fresh milk, because I don't drink much. So I keep this around for baking. Watch the expiration date, because it doesn't keep as long as non-fat milk, but it's still usually good for at least a year. 5. Various flours, like yam flour, cocoyam flour, plantain flour, rice flour, and corn starch. 6. Exotic bar soaps. They have various imported soap, some medicated some very fragrant.

If you need Fu Fu Flour, smoked cow feet or African coconut oil, this is your place. I'm tempted to go back and buy the banana sauce for novelty. The liquid was red and thin like Tabasco, but smelled like the tropical fruit. I'm not sure what confounds me more: Why so much food coloring is added to the product, or what to do with it. I'm sure I could whip up some confections with it. If you want African garb or DVDs, you can find those here, too. It's conveniently located at the Shops on 54th Street center.

But I gather that Desi District cares not for all that mess: everyone is welcome. This is a neat spot to grab a hot lunch or stock up on food of the Indian persuasion, like the frozen packages of naan I scored. Initially, I stopped in because I needed a tomato. They have lots of tomatoes here, plus other fresh produce, like potatoes, garlic, ginger, peanuts in the shell, and other things. They also have aisles of packaged food, such as cookies, tea, gelatin (?!? Yeah, they have lots of gelatin here), noodles, spices, seeds, curry, snacks, and lots of other things. Along with the frozen naan, I also got some ice cream treats for my kids. I picked the most obscure flavors (obscure for our American gringo palates), and we ended up loving all of the Indian ice cream flavors we tasted. There's a food court here with lots of seating. I didn't eat any of the hot food this time, but I saw some samosas that looked dang delicious, so I'll have to be back to try them. The people who work here are exceedingly friendly and kind. There is a bunch of seating with large tables that accommodate groups and smaller tables. The dining area is bright and airy with interesting graffiti on the walls. There is a chai station, bakery and ice cream stand as well. There's so much to choose from. We ordered the lunch special Veg Thali, which is a plate containing a mix of little dishes, so you can taste everything. For some reason they were out of rice, which was the main ingredient on the plate so they gave us the option of additional naan, which was fine. We liked all the dishes on the Thali. I especially enjoyed the Paneer dish. The curries were warm and delicious. There was a very spicy hot spread that we loved. I'd get Thali again. We also ordered some garlic naan. The naan seemed to be frozen as the bread was hot on the outside but cold on the inside. We were disappointed by the garlic naan. But the regular naan that came with our Thali was good. We also ordered samosas which were flavorful and filling. An order comes with some 3 Samosas and a sweet dipping sauce. Very good. They must be a little short staffed. Food came out over the course of 10-30 minutes. We purchased a few things from the grocery store prices are a bit steep, but food looks fresh. Parking is adequate in the private lot. Restrooms are available. I'd come back. I love Indian food.
