For anyone that hasn't had house made pasta. This is a great place to try it. The flavors were wholesome and kudos to them for sourcing from local vendors. We started with the sun dried tomato jar which was a great pairing with their bread. The calamari appetizer came next which we promptly devoured. The lovely wine and selection of cocktails helped wash it down. For the main course I had the wild mushroom Ragu and for someone that has never had home made gnocchi before it was an excellent choice. The other entrees we ordered were the carbonara, the spaghetti and the filet but the Star was definitely the fresh pasta. I have been wanting to try Onesto because I have heard such great things and I was not disappointed! My friend and I shared the Honey Roasted Bruschetta. We were really impressed with the freshness of the ingredients. You can really taste and appreciate each and every ingredient in the bruschetta. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli and was thoroughly impressed with the dish. It was delicious! The only thing I would say is the portions are on the smaller side, especially for the pasta dishes. My friend ordered the fusilli with salmon and we were surprised by the generous size salmon she got with her pasta. The service was phenomenal. The staff was very attentive and the manager came over to each table to check-in with the guests and make sure everything was perfect. Onesto is one of my favorite dinners in Milwaukee. Their pasta is really great and I love the atmosphere. I am, however, pretty sad to see their "jars" (my favorite appetizer in Milwaukee) go in favor of their new "boards." I did not enjoy the board and they didn't have any similar to their old kalamata olive and goat cheese jar that I could eat the entirety of in about 2 seconds. Plus the act of scraping whipped cheese off board was not something I enjoyed. I'm definitely still going to order their bread though. It's heavenly. It seems fitting to review Onesto on Valentine's Day. And while Onesto is also a great place for small groups, small families, it's a great place to take that special someone. Onesto feels fancy yet rustic. And the menu seems similar, with locally-sourced ingredients and Italian rustic dishes like Wild Mushroom Ragu, Lamb Ragu, Bolognese with brisket, Roasted Acorn Squash salad, and also sandwiches. Service was great all night and our server recommended some great wines. We started with a Fig, Toasted Walnut, and Gorgonzola Jar, which was tasty. Ingredients are presented in a jar, to spread on crostini. Sweet Potato Ravioli was my choice for an entree, and it was great. The upstairs was having a wedding and is available for rental. Parking can be very difficult near Onesto, but just keep fanning out in circles, as one does in the Third Ward, because Onesto is worth it! read more

Events Service Team: non responsive. I called several times, completed the form, and spoke with two different hosts who promised to have the events team follow up with me, but never heard from anyone. A member of my family went to the restaurant to see the venue. Surprisingly, they were able to schedule an appointment with a member of the events team to secure a date for a bridal shower. I shouldn't be surprised that the events team member didn't show up. I am disappointed in the lack of professionalism demonstrated by the events team. My family member wasted their time meeting with the restaurant manager who said they couldn't accept a deposit or guarantee the date. Needless to say, we have secured another venue. I have to be honest I have walked by Onesto many times but never stopped in....I have no idea why! How did I not know there was a fantastic Italian restaurant in right up the street? Made a reservation for the teenager and I for dinner on a rainy Monday night, I am glad we did because there would have been a wait. We were seated right away and introduced to our server Mike. I am going to pause here to talk a little a bit about Mike. When the teenager notices that we have a good server, you must have a great server. Mike helped us pick everything from the wine (for me not the teenager) appetizer and entrees! He was very thoughtful about asking me what I liked in a wine and made the appropriate suggestions. I was pretty impressed with their wine selection and all of the specials. Mike said this was a new menu for them and I was really pressed to make a decision. We started with the calamari, which is not deep fried but sautéed. I was a little shocked that the teenager was willing to try anything that doesn't have breading but it came with such a great recommendation that he gave it a go.....and he ate the whole thing! I mean every bite....I didn't dare to try and put my fork in there because I was afraid of losing a limb. Seriously after having the bread and olive oil I was afraid if I tried any I wouldn't be able to eat dinner (and the teenager was guarding it in March Madness style). In between the mumbles II translated it was delicious and it was the best he'd ever had (which is a lot). It really had a beautiful presentation with bruschetta on the side. I ordered the Wild Mushroom Ragu and the teenager ordered the Meatballs and Pasta. My dish came out with the pasta cooked perfectly! The cheese and the mushroom ratio was spot on giving me the mushroom taste but it wasn't over-powering. Teenager loved the Meatballs and pasta, again clearing the plate and finishing mine. Ambiance was nice, and I think would be a romantic place to have a date or when you want a nice family dinner. We were lucky enough to be seated by the window so we were able to watch the vibrancy of the Third Ward. So glad we finally stopped in and tried Onesto, we will definitely be back! I believe if I remember correctly in the spring and summer that they have tables on the sidewalk. We celebrated our anniversary at Onesto on a Thursday night. We hadn't made a reservation, but the host was able to seat us immediately at a high top table in the bar area. To start, we were intrigued by the wine on tap, so I ordered the Pinot noir on tap. It was quite good and would definitely recommend! For food, we waited about 40 minutes for our main dishes, which I was fine with, because they said that their pastas are homemade. We were given a basket of bread and their homemade olive oil while we waited. I ordered the fusilli pasta as my main dish. For what it was, I do think it was a bit overpriced ($17). It was enough to leave me full, but overall it was just ok. It had asparagus, mushrooms and truffle cream in it. There were a few unfortunate bites in which I consumed a large amount of salt (yikes), but I finished my plate... just drank a few glasses of water after. really upset because i want to love this place! has so much potential to be great but very poorly run in my opinion. first experience with my boyfriend was great but has gone downhill each time since. decided to give it one more shot and invited our friends to dinner at onesto last night and wow i'm so embarrassed that i suggested it. the server patty did not have a single clue what was going on for the entire night and really just ruined the evening. not only did we wait 30 min for our first round of drinks, they were just not what we ordered- whatever we drank them they, were still good and we didn't want to wait again. ordered the meat and cheese board when we ordered our drinks which just never came out. server was not knowledgeable about the menu at all and when i asked questions instead of saying idk and finding out she literally made up an answer. i figured that out when my food came out. i'm literally a server and i make it a point to know everything about the menu i serve. ordered a bottle of wine with dinner and splashed and spilled while pouring the wine, didn't acknowledge or say sorry then proceeded to slam the bottle on the table. asked for water to be refilled and she poured it into my boyfriend's pasta and the proceeded to wait for us to complain about that before coming up with a solution. at that point enough was enough, spoke to manager aaron and he suggested the bill be comped with is fine but like i just wanted someone to acknowledge that yes, our server was awful at her job but it's the managers job to have a standard set for who they make a server. they should've realized that she is not ready and needs more training before being able to serve on her own. spoke with april the GM this morning and seemed like i was annoying her when i was explaining what had happened and she told me to email her next time i come back to make sure i get a better server. i laughed because shouldn't all of your servers be acceptable? i serve so i know how easy it is to give good service. seems like they just don't want to put in the effort to ensure a standard. really wish i could've said the opposite and loved the night but truth is it was the absolute worst service i had ever received. read more

We dined here on our first night - of three - in MKE and really enjoyed it. Very good Italian food - sorry, no pizza if you're wondering - and I especially loved the old building and the ambiance it provided with the wood beams and brick walls. For food, two of us enjoyed bolognese, and I forget the two other pasta dishes ordered, but all the entrees were very good. The drinks were good, we tried the sangria, an old fashioned, and I had (I forget the name) a flavorful peach with bourbon cocktail. The table bread is very good and we added orders of their "jars" of spreads to put on them and they were also good, though I felt a bit pricey. In the heart of third ward area, Onesto steals your heart! They have the best tasting Italian food I have tasted in a while. I went there with a friend of mine who equally loved the food. They have a great happy hour too (starts at 2pm) and delicious drinks you can't get enough of. Try the salmon with pesto and you will want to come back again! It's convenient location makes it easy for professionals working in the area to grab lunch or join in for happy hour after work! I didn't really prepare for our weekend in Milwaukee in terms of dining. I found Onesto through Yelp and OpenTable had a reservation at a reasonable time. The space is nice, lots of exposed brick an windows that open up onto Water Street. There was also an upstairs that was closed off, it looked like it might be a private event space. We started out with a cocktail and the charcuterie. I like that they give you a meat, cheese and combo option and charge by serving. For a meat and non-meat eater, this made it a little more equitable. The cheeses were very good as well as the cherries, nuts and artichokes. For dinner, the manfriend went with the filet and upgraded it to surf and turf with some scallops. He raved about the filet. I opted for the artichoke and tomato pasta. It was good, but a little salty tasting. It had regular and sun dried tomatoes, I could've done with fewer sun dried and more spinach. We were very happy with the food and the service, but opted to skip the dessert menu; we were too full and wanted to save room for a few more cocktails before calling it a night. read more

We stopped in for a glass of wine and a quick appetizer and we were stuck between ordering one of their "jars" of dip or the mussels. We ended up with the mussels and I am beyond thrilled that we decided on them! The mussels themselves were delicious, but the sauce they were served in was good enough to consider drinking. The chunky tomato sauce paired with the ciabatta bread was incredible. If we didn't have dinner reservations shortly after, I would have sat there with a loaf of bread soaking up every last drop. I would highly recommend! We had bad luck with the service when we were there because it was terribly slow, but like I've mentioned before - I don't rate a place on the speediness of the service, but the quality of the food.
