I consider this fast food and the amount of food and the quality for the price, grabbing a combo plate here has always been a great choice. I can stretch combo meal with salad, rice, chicken katsu and kalbi short ribs for three solid servings. Came here the other day for lunch and though I was hungry, I didn't want to eat too much. The small plate for $13 was the perfect portion for one of my favorite dishes to get there- chicken katsu. Service has always been friend and food comes out in less than 10 mins. Parking is free with validation. It is automated so follow the rules on the signs inside their parking structure. I usually have a great experience at Ono. They have great food and the workers have always been friendly and professional. But tonight was not one of those times. I online ordered our meal for a pick up 30 minutes before closing and when I arrived I drove though the drive thru and was not greeted at the prompter. As I waited far too long, the cars in front of me had moved up and another vehicle was behind me so I proceeded to the window. While I was still in line I heard the car behind was having their order being taken. As I pulled up to the window, the cashier, whom had her back to the window, turned slightly and looked out of the corner of her eye seeing me then just walked to the back; no greeting or I'll be right with you, nothing!! Worse part is, I can see my order sitting on the counter. After a few minutes she finally returned and opened the window, she said nothing and just stared at me, I told her I'm here for my online order which she grabbed off the counter, the only one there and the one I was staring at, and she handed it to me with an upset, almost bothered attitude. Every drive thru attendant has asked if I'd like any sauces with my order but not her; she was very very unprofessional. That was just the start of my bad experience. I shrug off drive thru episode and when I get home I begin eating. About halfway through my meal I noticed a Hair in my to go box. I thought maybe it could be one of mine but it looked to dark so I pulled out a string of my hair to compare showing they are completely different. I could not finish my meal after that. For fast food, it's pretty good. The bbq beef was Probably the best. Tender and flavorful. The bbq chicken was so good, as was the salad. The Kalua pork was forgettable and badly in need of seasoning. The chicken katsu was fair, crispy but lacked flavor. And the rice was much too dry. Overall, decent. read more

I made the mistake of ordering at the store thinking it would be quick and I realized most people were ordering online and picking it up or having their food delivered. A lot of people just come and go to grab food. I ended up waiting for like 30 minutes to get my food. Plan accordingly if you plan on getting food here. I am craving this as I write about our past experiences. We ordered from here a couple times this year and they were always quick in preparing our order. For one order earlier in the year, we ordered the Spam Musubi, which came with 2 pieces. If you don't know what it is, it is "a block of rice topped with a dash of Teriyaki sauce and a slice of Spam, wrapped in seaweed". We also got the Island White Fish & BBQ Chicken Combo. The combination of all these selections was superb! Another order consisted of Kalua Pork with Cabbage (slow roasted pork with a hint of smoky flavor, served shredded over steamed cabbage) and more musubis (Spam and BBQ Chicken). It is a must to always include musubis in every order. This was all delicious as well and we even ordered the Fresh Young Coconut, which was so refreshing in washing down all the great food we had. Always good, fresh, pretty and pleasant service except for that one on Crenshaw. Sometimes their workers are not as nice.

I've been to this particular Ono a couple of times and have usually had pretty good experiences! They don't have a large seating area as they do a massive amount of takeout and that totally makes sense because the food travels well and is still super yummy! My favorite things include the Chicken Katsu and the Spam Musubis! Because the location is so busy with takeout, I recommend placing your order in advance. When I've gone the service time can be a toss up between super quick and slow, so you never know what you'll get. In terms of parking, there is lots of street parking on Wilshire and if the Ono side of the street is full, there are usually tons of spots on the oppositve side of the street. read more

This is my first time at an Ono restaurant. And I really like it. Service was excellent, you just walk right up and order. I just picked a couple of plates based on the pictures. A seafood mix and grilled chicken. Lots of food! In the fish plate there is shrimp, fish and teriyaki chicken, on a bed of cabbage, rice and a small portion of the most delicious macaroni salad. You have to remember to get extra sauce which are in big pump bottles near soda machine. The next plate was just plain grilled chicken. Comes with the same sides. Ordered crab Rangoon and Hawaiian bbq mix on Postmates. The Rangoon does NOT have enough crab to warrant the crab part of the name but it is tasty. I don't recommend buying it if you're getting it delivered though, it doesn't hold up well. The BBQ chicken and BBQ beef are solid, would definitely order again but the ribs were disappointing, more fat and bone than meat. The rice and macaroni were fine. California is honestly something else. Institutions like Ono Hawaiian BBQ, i.e. a chain that sells katsus and barbeque dishes, like Popeye's but for Hawaiian BBQ dishes, make me want to move out to LA, honestly. It's maybe a blessing I don't live near Ono because I'd probably indulge myself regularly. The food is so good and such value. They give you so much food, and I easily think this could be two meals, which is lovely. I ended up getting the BBQ and Katsu mix, which is BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, and chicken katsu. Every meal comes with 2 scoops of rice, 1 scoop of their famous macaroni salad and vegetables. Again, I really don't think you should be eating this whole thing in one sitting - it's sooo much food. I love that there isn't a price discrepancy to want to try multiple things, but if you know you love one thing, you can just get that. Everything was good, but I think my favorites in this order were the chicken katsu, bbq beef, and bbq chicken. The katsu is just crispy and perfect, and I love it with their katsu sauce. Writing about this is making me hungry and miss LA, and if you haven't been there, I really don't know what you are doing.
