Love this place! The food is always worth it, even if it's a little pricey. My only complaint is that I can't add garlic butter to my rice with the BBQ ribs. I understand there are no substitutions, but I'd gladly pay extra for a side of garlic butter, just like I do for the spicy mayo. Please consider making it an option! This place is pretty close to my mother in law house. Has potential but the quality of the food doesn't match the prices. The menu was intriguing so we went to check it out. They give a decent amount of food but everything is so expensive, especially for a place lunch. The sauce they give you with the chicken dishes was not teriyaki. Not sure what it has in it but it was sour and off putting. I asked for the ingredients of the Mac salad. They couldn't tell me what was in it but said it had heavy cream? Seems to be a very unusual ingredient to have in Mac salad? The cabbage salad didn't come with dressing so it was just plain. We were interested in getting the spam musubi but they couldn't tell us why the rice looked orange so we didn't get it. Second, the bbq chicken was tender and oh-so flavorful on its own; no need for the dipping sauce although the sauce IS super tasty. Next, the rice is topped with furikake and sesame seeds. Sadly, the spicy pork flavor is excellent, but I don't like how it's in small pieces. I referred to it as shrapnel pieces, and my BF thought that was a precise phrase for it. Ahhhhh-mazing!! Hubby and I were in the area and stumbled across this Hawaiian joint. Located inside an adorable food court, we were hesitant because it was cold out and it seemed like there was only outdoor seating however, they have indoor seating also (yaaaay!). We thoroughly enjoyed the garlic butter shrimp and BBQ beef plate. Huge servings, sooo tasty, and the ribs fell right off the bone. Delicious is an understatement. My first visit to this restaurant was about the same time in December but over a year ago, so I knew it was going to be at least decent when it popped up as the choice from our weekly lunch roulette. It's located within Yes Plaza, so loads of parking, but not necessarily GREAT parking, the spots are smaller than normal and the light posts between the rows of parking do take up a significant chunk of one of the spots, so don't get too excited when you see an empty spot that no one has taken yet when it's busy. Amongst the many identical glass storefronts of Yes Plaza, this one is an easier one to find, it's in the back corner, one of the few stores that have a fake city building facade. You actually can't miss it. Service was nice and helpful, letting us know that down two storefronts is an indoor eating area with tables. Very useful for us since it was raining that day. Tables were also available outside. We ordered the Beef Rib ($18) and the Galbi plates ($19). The wait wasn't long but it also wasn't quick. The restaurant has a website you can order from so next time if I know I'm going there, I'd place my order while I was on the way driving there. Portions are great. The meat was cooked well. The meat didn't need too much gnawing or effort to get it off the bone and there's a large amount of salad to cut through all the meat that they give. The chicken was nothing to rave about as it's cooked pretty plain (sauce was provided on the side), but the beef rib is where it's at - a definite must order as the meat was truly fall off the bone tender and came with about 4 bones; absolutely divine! Each comes with two scoops of rice, two scoops mac salad, and a cabbage salad with side sesame dressing. There are a couple different side substitutions available, some free and some with an additional fee (e.g., extra scoop of mac w/ no cabbage is an extra $0.75). I got the katsu plate to try and my bf got the bbq chicken, and we honestly both really enjoyed it! I can only compare my experiences with Ono Hawaiian BBQ, and honestly this was soooo much better. The katsu batter was "real", mac salad was really good (not too heavy either), and the cabbage salad was very refreshing. The rice here was also really good! Flavors and service took them to the 5. Garlic shrimp had 6 LARGE shrimp, and delicious. They could cut back on the butter to garlic ratio; i barely got to the car and it was already seeping into the container and rice which was kind of disappointing. Garlic was perfect. The sides were good- I enjoyed them more than most places, possibly due to the dressing on the salad, the light sprinkle of spice on the mac, the bits of furikake on the rice. Katsu and garlic shrimp flavors were good but note that the garlic shrimp is meant to be eaten with shell on but I found that it wasn't fried enough to be extra crispy. It's a small restaurant located in the back corner of Yes Plaza where parking can be atrocious, but luckily I had no issue with it on a Sunday afternoon. Apparently the wait time to get your food can be up to an hour, but service was very quick, so I only waited about 5 minutes. The beef rib plate was delicious. The meat is rich, flavorful, and fall off the bone tender. It's sweet and marinated well too. 4 pieces of beef rib is so generous. The rice was cooked well and topped with furikake.
