This place has become my go-to spot, and at this point I'm convinced the loco moco with an over easy egg was engineered in a laboratory to create happiness. The gravy is so good it could make you reconsider long-held political beliefs and peacefully change governments. I'm not saying treaties have been signed over this gravy, but I'm not ruling it out either. The over easy egg breaking into the rice and burger patty is basically poetry. Outside seating is a bit more fun, there is a door that slams so loudly you feel someone is banging on the wall. The service? Adequate. We were craving Hawaiian food yesterday, so we went to Aloha Food Factory around 1-ish. We ordered the macadamia nut pancakes (2 pcs, $8.99), one Spam Musubi (4 pcs, $5.99), one Kalua Pig Bowl ($9.99), and one Plate Lunch with one entrée ($13.99). I picked the Lau Lau for an extra $1.99. We were told that the pancakes would take a while, maybe around 30 minutes, but my daughters still wanted them because they order them every time we visit. Loved how the new owners changed the "Hawaiian hours" to more realistic breakfast hours -- no more opening at 11:00 a.m. lol. I also like how they made the space roomier and more comfortable. My friend ordered the Lunch Plate with teriyaki chicken and char shu (about $20 after taxes), served over a bed of rice with some vegetables and a side of macaroni salad. The char shu had good flavor, but he thought it was a bit dry and could have been more tender. Portion was sufficient for him to have some to take home as well. Glad to support local family-owned restaurants & businesses. I would give my visit 5 stars for the food and the service. Originally wanted to have the katsu chicken, but was not available. I've been wanting to try this place so I was glad I got to try it today with my friends. We meet at 10:30 and it was pretty empty but by 11am...it was packed. I ordered their Lunch Island Plate - 2 entree with Chicken Katsu and Teriyaki Beef which was pretty good. My friend ordered their giant Macadamia Nut Pancakes, which was delicious, not too sweet. My other friend ordered their Cha Shu that I didn't try but it looked good.
