I wanted to share my experience with the Ono location in Mission Hills. Ono has so many awesome dishes and are always expanding their offerings, so I'm a pretty regular customer. I usually go to the location closest to my home, but yesterday, I was visiting the Mission Hills area, so thought I'd stop in for take-out. I've got to say, I was pretty impressed by this store. Everyone seemed helpful and friendly and the counters and floors were sparkling. There was a small issue with my order, but it was immediately taken care of by the manager on duty, I think his name was Romero or Romeo, or something similar. Any way, he was very helpful, professional, and went above-and-beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Unfortunately, not all locations are this good. Some, I never want to visit again, so the company should be taking notes to ensure all their restaurants match this high standard. If I didn't live so far away, I'd only be going here. This was my first time at Ono and I enjoyed everything I got! I tried the island fire chicken and was shocked at how much food came in this plate. The chicken itself had so much flavor and had a little kick to it. This also came with a side of macaroni salad and I loved this too. This Ono Hawaiian BBQ location in Mission Hills on Sepulveda Blvd is consistent with providing excellent customer service and catering to customers with food allergies. Our to go for dinner order consists of # 5 Seafood Mix with vegetables, macaroni salad and rice, # 42 Chicken and Beef Mix with vegetables, macaroni salad and rice and last but not least # 44 BBQ and Katsu Mix with vegetables, macaroni salad and rice. The servings and portions of their combos are always plentiful. There's always left over. The BBQ were tender and not over cooked. Same with the Katsu Chicken and Seafood. The macaroni salad is on point. Has a hint of sweetness to it. Ono Hawaiian BBQ never fails when we're craving for grilled Hawaiian BBQ whether we want beef or chicken. Felt like a plate lunch today. Got the keiki plate lunch since I wanted to try their chicken katsu. It was ok. Lots of breading on the outside. The sauce was good. I got the regular kalua pork plate. It was good as well. Not salty or fatty which was good but not that seasoned either. The cabbage was more for decoration than mixed in with the kalua pork (which is what I like). It came with 1 scoop mac salad and 2 small scoops of rice. I was happily surprised to see Hawaiian Sun Tea available so I grabbed my favorite flavor- Passion Orange. Happy staff, very welcoming. I'm a native Hawaiian, and this was my first experience at Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Mission Hills California. The food tasted okay. The barbecue meat was a little chewy and had lots of fat. The young people that work there were pretty friendly, one of them named Linda was very nice and carried my food to the car because I use a walker . What's surprised me was the extra fees that were on my receipt: $.10 for a carryout bag + $.50 for each meat choice on my Aloha Plate. I paid an extra $1.10 and nothing was mentioned about these fees buy the cashier . Take out food bags are free at most restaurants . And the additional $1 that I paid for meat choices on my 2 choice Aloha plate was never shown on the menu or on their website . This is NOT the way to show Aloha. read more

During this time of year; they usually have an amazing deal for the people that participate in not eating meat on Fridays. They have a breaded fish plate or grilled fish plate for only $8. Honestly that's a huge steal because the amount of food that you get is such a great value. The service that I received when I went was fantastic, huge thank you to the lady with the colorful hair she was amazing. We took our food to go, so we didn't eat inside. We ordered through Uber eats and got a buy one get one free deal which was so good. Honestly, their macaroni salad is amazing. Not sure why this location has bad stars. This location is always clean and wait lines are short. Theres always enough seating but I just order to go. It is cooked to order so you do wait a bit but its worth it! I usually have the Island Favorite Seafood Mix combi. It includes crispy shrimp, island white fish, and BBQ Chicken. Each Island Favorite comes with 2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. I like to come here weekly for lunch during work . The staff is always super friendly , fast & the food is always amazing . The store is always very clean & since staff is super friendly it's a very welcoming environment . Definitely recommend you stop by . The workers there are incredibly unhelpful and lazy. They just sorta expect you to know what you want as soon as you walk up to the cashier from the door. They even don't mind after checking the food...to provide so far burnt katsu, beef. Other days is BURNT chicken. that is after expressing to make sure it isn't. The katsu was just batter. I really think Ono is delicious but depending on the branch it can be a hit or miss. I would suggest avoiding this place. read more

This place is in a busy strip mall area with a gym, shops, and other eateries. I came here because it was close to my doctor's office. Stopped in for lunch. They were busy even for a rainy day, but I knew what I wanted, we got our orders and took them home to enjoy. The place has seating, and is open, but it's more like an eat and go rather than a sit down and enjoy your food. No problem. My son-in-law enjoyed his Chicken Katsu dinner and I enjoyed the Spam Misubi and a small side of macaroni salad. Their food is fresh and tasty. The staff was busy taking orders and packing them up. They have a side bar with sauces and small containers to take home. I like their food and would come back here next time I'm in the area. read more

It's in a nice and renovated plaza but this location is definitely a hit or miss. Quality, semi-clean, food at a reasonable pace and value, however, inconsistent results. I've only ordered spam musubi and Mac salad from here and they're both good! I definitely have to pour some teriyaki sauce to my spam musubi though for me to actually enjoy it and make it way more flavorful. The problem I had with the Mac salad was that it didn't have much flavor to it and I couldn't figure out what was missing. It was plain and definitely lacked something. It wasn't salty or sweet, just Mayo and noodles. Usually there's some kind of saltiness or sweetness to it. Some places add pineapple which adds great flavor to it. This one didn't have any flavor and I was a bit disappointed and ended up just eating the musubi. Definitely coming back for the musubi and still need to try their actual beef plates and stuff! We ordered catering for a large party and placed the order online 5 days before and even called to confirm. The earliest pick up time was 11am since that's what time they open. If the food wouldn't be ready when they open they should not list it as an available pick up time. We waited almost 45 minutes for the food to be ready and packed up. If they could not accommodate I would suggest updating the website accordingly to avoid this from occurring in the future. Catering is normally for a scheduled event and this impacted our reception lunch. Food was good though. The catering for 100 came with 4 large trays of rice which was a lot!! read more

At this specific location parking is not an issue as it is provided. The food was better than expected for this causal fast Hawaiian spot but nothing all that impressive. I guess it is worth trying at least one if not every once in a while. Pricing is as expected and has great savings on specials. Portions are more than expected. Before ordering food for delivery, we called the restaurant to see if the Island Fire Chicken was white meat because I dont care for dark meat chicken. We were told that it is chicken breast, so I ordered it. Unfortunately when it arrived, it clearly was not chicken breast. It was mostly dark meat. My wife ordered the BBQ chicken, and it didn't taste at all like it was barbecued, and the sauce that came with it was not BBQ sauce. Excellent service and very friendly employees, I recommend a wide range of fast and very clean place.

This is just some critical feedback to keep in mind when you attend this location. There was no urgency to assist online orders, probably best to order there and wait. There are two young employees that are too distracted by each other's conversation to get the orders correct. I received food, but it wasn't what I ordered. I guess the aforementioned employee doing food inspection was just looking to see that there was *something* in there. Be better than I was. Arrive ready to wait for ten minutes. Don't play constant eye tag with the employees who find other things to do than assist you, speak up and get their attention. Check your order before you leave. This last one it's important or you'll be leaving with someone else's food. read more

The best location in my opinion. The location in panorama city has rice with foul, sour taste. The location on Sepulveda close to Oxnard, had foul bitter rice. My fish was pink and the chicken was undercooked. It's insane because I was already in a delicate medical state. I went to this location and the food was perfect. Do not come here they ran out of drinks for the kids and were not offering substitutions and trying to make you full price for additional if your child is allergic to broccoli they will not give you additional rice. It's the Light_skin_dragon coming to you after midnight on this flavorful review because I can't sleep. I give this place a 4 star, this is my very first time coming here for my 30 min lunch break and I finished all of it and the flavors were top notch. I wonder if I went to @hawaii would their food be this good? Or even if they have one out there. I bought the #4 which is the hawaii combo mix. Which comes with plenty of meat. Steak, chicken and pork. I enjoyed all of them. Comes with side of white rice which was sticky so it was a bit dry. The side of Mac I don't know what to call it but it was ok. And the vegetables was good, they gave me a third of a broccoli , and the rest cabbage. I was like really now? I wanted more veggies then that haha this is the only reason I gave it a 4. Please don't be stingy with the broccoli next time. Tbh I will be back and I want to see what else do they have to offer. They need to work on their marketing on social media as well.
