Food portion is always a nice size, they never skimp out on that. Most of their combos can easily feed 2-3 people. They also offer smaller portions size plates as well. Staff are always nice and helpful. There's plenty of parking spaces and drive-thru moves pretty quickly. Most of the dishes are great except fire chicken. And it's not so much that it's spicy, but it lacks flavor. Overall we stop by here from time to time when we're in this area of the town. read more

Impressive service. We did an online order as we were on the road traveling. We ordered while waiting to get gas at the nearby Costco. The food was ready by the time we made it to the drive up window, 15 minutes from when we placed the online order. The katsu chicken was nicely fried and moist! Perfection! Totally in the mood for macaroni salad. I'm so happy that they open the location close to my house. We ordered the steak and chicken combo, a cat soup plate, and the chicken plate. But the thing I wanted the most what is the macaroni salad I can eat that macaroni salad for lunch and dinner every day for weeks on end. It's always perfect. I was the fourth car in the drive-through, it went pretty fast. When we got to the window, the employee was super nice and smiling and helpful and asked how her day was. We got our food to go. It took us about 10 minutes to get home, and the food was still hot. Everything was so tasty and tender and juicy, I totally loved it. ex-Oahu boy so I know plate lunch. This is my 2nd time ordering from the Shaw Ave joint. First time was a mini-chicken katsu. This was good. Second time just after 11am, I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to take my order. Again, I asked for mini-chicken katsu. The dude mumbled something incoherent so I drove to the pick-up window. Sat there for 7 minutes until a young lady took my money but had problems opening the register. Another 15 minutes go by my food arrives, but the price charged was for a regular chicken katsu. Oh well, I'm hungry and don't want to wait 20 minutes for the correct order so I left. At home the disappointment set in. What I got was a small chicken thigh pounded down to less than 1/4" inch and fried. This included fried pieces of skin. Yeah, just freakin skin only. The other pieces dry and overcooked. Also, bland cheap rice and bland mac salad. Lucky I gave 2 stars. So lucky I won't go back to any Ono (Ino Loa) Hawaiian. Poor service, poor food, poor prices for the former two. read more

My husband and I went for a quick dinner run. We ordered the seafood mix and the chicken combo. The BBQ chicken is great, rice and Mac salad are good too. The katsu chicken is cooked great as well. I love that it's served on a bed of cabbage and broccoli. It's hard to get veggies in fast food places. I don't personally care for their teriyaki sauce. It tastes like it comes out of a can. I believe the fish and shrimp were under cooked and was also the reason for our 15 minute wait. I'll give it another try. I think the BBQ meats are the clear winner here. The lobby is cute and clean minus what appears to be the unfinished construction in the corner under the big windows. Staff was friendly. I love that there's a drive thru and it seemed to move along but of course not as quick as other fast food places. Think more like KFC wait times. The food seems fresh so it's worth it. Oh boy, do I have a story for you and it is not pleasant. I will start off with rating the food itself. We were there on the grand opening day (me and my fiance). We of course got the BOGO (buy one get one) and were mostly satisfied with the fresh chicken and the deal overall. We both got the chicken katsu. The chicken was fried to perfection. The mac was great. The portions were fair as well. The sauce is a bit watered down, but I made it work. What can you expect from a franchise Hawaiian BBQ place? They gave us a free bag as we were eating. Now the unpleasantness...as I am writing this it has been exactly 24 hours since we have eaten there. Lets just say that I have been on the toilet nonstop while farting louder than a firetruck. Its not only just me and my fiance has also been farting like there's no tomorrow. Not sure what happened, but my stomach has not been kind to me today after eating at this place. I was not sure what rating to give it, but my fiance wanted to be nice and give them a 3 star rating. If I go on the toilet one more time, I may be tempted to drop a star as I have gone more than 5 times already today. So I have mixed reviews about this establishment my family ate at this location 3 days ago today is 11/22/22. The food was good everything was up to par like the location on Herndon & willow on that day. Today I went there ordered chicken katsu & teriyaki chicken, the same as I'd previously ordered. To my surprise the chicken was not cut into small pieces as they should be. I was give whole chicken thighs with no sauce. It sad because I had high hopes for this location but I will go back to eating at the Herndon & willow they are the original Ono Hawaii.
