I've never had Mexican style sushi before but I was intrigued. I didn't expect too much because of the reviews posted on their yelp. But sometimes the stars aren't always correct. The roll I got had imitation crab, tempura shrimp, avocado, cucumber, carrots? I forgot the name. But it was $19. It is on the pricer side but it was good. I really enjoyed it. My mom thought it was delicious. They have a drive thru. I've never order sushi from a drive thru window before. They parked us and we waited. And waited. I think they forgot about us. So we went inside and they gave us our food. I'm not sure if I was supposed to park and wait inside for it or if they were supposed to bring it out to me in my car? Like McDonalds. It's Mexican food, AND Mexican sushi. Like normal American-style sushi rolls, but with Jalapenos and salsa. Sounds weird, but everything tasted amazing. There was also some very loud karaoke on the day we went. I don't think they have it every day, so if you're looking for that go on a Thursday. Good service, fair prices. read more

I used to love this place but after not going for a couple years we decided to go on Sunday. The prices on the menu and what I saw on the receipt did not match up. I think they charge more if you pay with card. The food took like 40 minutes to get and we ended up paying like $176 for 2 adults 2 kids and a toddler. I was pretty shocked. And the cherry on top I got gastroenteritis from here seeing as that's all I ate that day. I'm currently on day 4 of it and have to go to the hospital because I'm pregnant and it's causing me to become dehydrated and I'm contracting. So this is definitely our last time here. read more

Ordered drinks Ordered our food And 3 of us got our food in time as for the 4th came late and they forgot half of his order by that time he just canceled it since we where almost done eating. Came here for my birthday dinner with my husband. When we went to sit down we waited about 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. Someone finally came to give us a menu and I asked if it was okay if we move to a both once they had time to clean it. The waitress seemed annoyed at my comment and said "give me a minute" ( i said it in w calm tone and in no way was rushing her but i think she took it that way.) After asking for our drinks she took about 15 minutes to come back to take our order. By this point by husband and I were alittle annoyed but we just wanted to eat and move on. She took our order and left. The table next to us arrived at the same time and by this time was already eating. We continued to wait about 30 minutes. Until another waitress came over to ask if we needed something we told her we were just waiting and she politely asked for what. I said our order and she looked panicked as she walked away. My husband then saw that waitress talking to our waitress looking for a ticket. It was then we realized that they probably hadnt put our order in. I walked over and asked my waitress did u forget to put in the order and she said yea i just told her okay we're just gonna go. We had only taken one to two sips of our drinks (we were both waiting on food and drinking water) the OTHER Waitress apologized and we just left. Pretty crazy that our waitress didnt even notice her mistake it took the other waitress to see that something was wrong. Customer service sucks here! Lady with the red hair needs to be trained on how to work the drive through. Why would you confirm an order and forget to charge for it. Then the items are missing out of the order because it wasn't submitted properly. 30 minutes waiting in the drive through and having to circle around to get other cars out the drive... for her mistake. Just to get a snarky attitude. I dont look at the cost and don't get a receipt when I get my food. I'm not waiting another 30 minutes to reorder. No apology, "im sorry, I made a mistake" nope. I've always drove by this place but never felt like trying their food. Never caught my attention. Never judge a book by its cover! This place's amazing! Way better than Culichi Town and not as expensive. The only reason I tried this food was thanks to my friend's nephew's bday dinner. We had the sushi platters and the fresh sea platter. They have really good asada tacos here! The drive thru is now open too, so it makes it easy to pick up your food. I was third in line, but the wait was short to get to the window. 6 tacos came to just over $12-. The asada was tender, flavorful and seasoned just right. They had just the right amount of onion and cilantro on top. We got green sauce, red sauce and lime included with our order. I loved the green sauce. The red was too spicy for my liking, but they give you options. Friendly service. I noticed they have some outdoor seating available now, too. read more

I have been a patron of theirs for a couple of years now. I went in September to purchase a $50 gift certificate as a gift for my young niece's birthday. The waitress Berenice gave me 2 $25 gift certificates because she said she accidently wrote $25 instead of $50 so I said ok, didn't think anything of it. So today, my niece's mom took her and the family to eat there and use her gift certificates and unfortunately, was denied using both of them. The waitress Vanessa had the (manager/owner) Alejandro come out and he was rude and degrading to my sister in law and niece. Told them they cannot use both at once. What? Why not? I paid the $50 all at once. No one ever mentioned this made up policy to me or is it posted anywhere in their establishment. I am appalled at the way Alejandro handled the situation and it will be the last time I ever set foot there or ever recommend this place to anyone, like I always did. What a rip off to his customers. They add the fixings on the side and a very spicy oil chili that was so good with the tacos. I also ordered a sushi roll what was good and fresh. Their shrimp cocktail was pretty big and fresh as well. You can tell they had just chopped all the veggies since they still smelled fresh and tasted fresh. Why bother to travel out of town when just a short drive south a southern gem is hiding. I stumbled across this place while heading somewhere else. The blue lights draped across the building drew me in. Bustling with just the right level of music, it felt like I was in Ensenada. Right away I was greeted by what I assume is the owner, she has boss energy, her husband counting money at the register with her purse draped around his neck ...I digress. She sent me to a table. In from out of town....(as we mentioned to the waitress, zero interest) it was just as they opened on Monday morning & I was actually very excited to try this place! I mean I love sushi & I love mexican food whats better then mexican sushi? We sat ourselves after a guy from the back had walked out to check out what was on TV & told us sit wherever you want, were the only ones in the restaurant. We sat down & we grabbed our own menu's good thing because it took a minute for our oh so sweet waitress to come out!(sarcasm) since never have been here we asked whats popular or what did she like, it was like pulling teeth she was not much help! We ordered our drinks a Horchata & Jamaica which were freshly made & both delicious. She took our order we ordered two rolls & two fish tacos, the sushi & tacos were delicious on homemade tortillas everything was just very flavorful & delicious. We didn't seem to wait very long considering were the only people in the place. The stars are for the food! The staff needs to work on there customer service skills because they SUCK!!! Overall the price was a bit high but I guess being seafood it was fair enough, I'd give it another shot in the future when were visiting family in the valley! I do know for a fact prior to visiting this establishment that Mexican cuisine has some familiarity with the Japanese food: sushi - especially with raw fish taking centre stage in both cuisines (taking into comparison of ceviche and sushi), therefore I was actually excited to taste an interpretation of sushi and Mexican blended in harmony. Ultimately from my visit, I actually enjoyed the sushi-mexican flare at Mariscos El Sushi- it wasn't actually that bizarre, instead it was actually good, considering most american sushi joint already made their sushi deep fried, stuffed with cream cheese, meats, avocado and chicken; I was however deeply disappointed with the Mexican seafood dishes that I found to be serving nasty tasting seafood. (not fresh and tasted fishy) The meal started off strong with a complimentary starter of crispy tortillas and a tangy spicy salsa. I ordered the Cameron tostada (raw shrimp ceviche served with crispy toasted tortilla) $7.99 and Mar Y Tierra $10.99 a deep fried sushi filled with deep fried shrimp, cream cheese, avocados, cucumber and chicken), and that was great but then the meal experience fell flat with the mexican coctelazo $12.99. I was honestly contented with the mexican sushi, it was crispy and it had a nice blend of flavors from the nicely seasoned and crispy shrimp, to the creaminess from the cream cheese and avocado. And the Cameron tostada was actually really delicious, a tangy burst of lime flavor with fresh green tomatillo juice, combined with fresh onions and coridander leaves, was topped on this raw shrimp dish. The shrimp itself was the small sized ones, and tasted fresh. The $10 meal portion would leave you somewhat full for a while, but its not wholesome, its more like a meal appetizer in my opinion, to feel fuller a $12 and up meal would have to be ordered. The Coctelazo with mix seafood was nasty in my opinion. The cocktail itself was generously served with seafood, and I had no complaints if it was just the shrimp, since it was fresh, however the octopus and fish pieces were nasty and fishy ( a sign that it wasn't fresh). The cocktail itself was too much tomato in taste, and lacks in the essence of lime juice and cilantro, which would have complimented this dish well. The service started off great and friendly, this was when the place was entirely empty of course (when I came in), but once the big groups started coming 20 minutes later, their service grew slow and inattentive, and they seem to get the orders mixed up terribly. I could sense a poor communication and poor team work in the kitchen. The menu itself was in Spanish writing with no english description, I felt like I was in Mexico almost reading off a menu without an english in sight. I think having an english menu is rather important to appeal to a wider customer base. They do however have english speaking waitress who is willing to explain, but its rather difficult for a non-spanish speaking person to read the menu. The seating itself was honestly tacky; with the Chinese styled buffet banquet chairs and old diner table- therefore not a place for a date, but maybe a quick foodie adventure, the establishment was clean, and I do like the various hot sauces presented on the table. The parking was easy, since they have their own private lot, despite being located in the same shopping centre as vallarta, where parking is known to be a nightmare. Overall Improvement is needed: 1. Get fresher seafood- especially fish and octopus 2. Get the service together when they get busy, 3. Plus a english translated menu might get me back in. We walked in and sat down right away. They served us chips and salsa, which was delicious, but really spicy. Our server was quick to bring drinks and help with the menu. The music was a little loud. While we were discussing where to sit, away from speakers, they let us know that they would turn the music down. Bonus points for thoughtfulness. We tried one of the fried rolls and one cold. So...After like 2 or 3 years of passing by this place all of the time, I finally thought like 2 weeks ago to give them a try and boy was it...good! I guess I was not taking this place seriously before because it was not "Traditional Sushi or Japanese Restaurant" and too, I think because of the building/location. I was definitely wrong to judge this book by its cover. I am giving Mariscos El Sushi 4/5 stars. The 2 sushi rolls that ordered were both deep fried- 1 was called the Guamalchilito roll and the 2nd was named the Dragon roll (photos of both rolls will be included in this post). Both rolls were really tasty, the flavor was good, the presentation was nice and both were hot and fresh; however, each roll was around 16/17 dollars and for the amount that you pay, I feel like there was NOT enough fish included in the roll and the pieces were thin- Only tiny pieces of shrimp and crab were given inside of the rolls, the rest was rice, seaweed wrap, and avocado. Also, the tiny cups of siracha mayo and teriyaki sauces to go with the rolls, costs .25 cents and are only filled up 1/2 of the way. I Also got the Birria Tacos with cheese that were soo...good, also made hot and fresh. Beware that there is a bit of a wait time, especially when they are busy, but it is not bad and of course your food will be hot and fresh! read more

This will most definitely be a new place on the rotation. Amazing! Who would've thought, "hey let's mix Mexican food and Japanese food and blow people's mind?" Well I'm so glad they took that risk. We had and shared a tostada de ceviche, tostada de agua chiles verdes, a mar y tierra roll, and a Guadalajara roll (secret menu item). Everything was so so good. It was so well prepared and full of flavor and love. Our server was very polite and knew her stuff. Place was clean but a little on the small side. It filled up quick. Moving on to the real topic, which is this confusing concept of a restaurant... I wanna give them credit first and foremost due to the innovative mentality they dare to share with Fresno... As many long time yelpers has mention time and time again, Fresno when it comes to the restaurant business is very conservative and will not hesitate to stick to the common offerings... So with that said, I'm sorry I couldn't appreciate the food as much... The tacos can hold its own but the sushi rolls are mediocre in taste.. The rice is a bit firm (al dente rice? Lol) for my liking.. But others may enjoy it more than myself, not something I'm gonna go out of the way for...
