The Katsu Chicken was perfectly prepared. Crispy crust and tender chicken, not greasy at all. The Mac salad was Ono. Lost a star since the fountain drinks machine was pretty much out of order. I would have been helpful if I was told while ordering. I paid $2.49 for water :-(

I went here on a non busy day. They took my order and didn't really have to wait for long. The food here is pretty good. My daughter loves their spam masubi and that is why i keep coming back here. Me and my daughter didn't wait that long and they were really consistent with their food. They gave me a lot of rice and macaroni as well, this meal is good for at least 2 people. Definitely would come back and try their other menus.

Decent place located in the Palma Plaza!! They give you a lot of food, so come here hungry!! They also add cabbage and broccoli to go with your rice, macaroni salad and choice of meat or seafood!! The service is good, and reasonably priced, it does get crowded sometimes It's not fantastic or anything, just ok to me!!

My usual. If I could give this place 3.5 stars that's what this would be. I typically order this low carb option sans the macaroni salad and rice. I have never been disappointed with this choice. My only complaint is that there really should be more broccoli in the veggie side. When I asked for additional broccoli I was told I could only have 2 pieces. What?!?! Broccoli can't be that expensive. But whatever, this doesn't stop me from ordering and enjoying this meal. I must say this dish is "Ono". 'Ono - The word 'ono with the okina means delicious in the Hawaiian language.

Hits the spot pretty well! Their bbq chicken is always a favorite bc it's so flavorful. I don't mind the bit char on their chicken bc I know that means it was marinated/seasoned well and grilled on a hot grill. It pairs so nicely with white rice even without any sauce. Their chicken plate comes with mixed salad that lacks dressing. Their mahi mahi lunch plate was also great! They give two generous portion of fish filet, with Mac salad and greens. Food was pretty good. But not in a great area. This location is inside the palm plaza that shares space with Walgreens, Popeyes, and Starbucks, which can get crowded.

There was a suspicious hair in the veggies in my chicken katsu combo. It's not my hair as I am bald. Please see the attached photograph for documentation. I called them to let them know they need to change their gloves and wear hairnets, but they just gave me a runaround. They phoned me back from the store; although I didn't leave my number nor did I ask for a call back from anyone. But, the person announcing the manager's presence as a third party on the call stated that they'd be translating because the manager doesn't speak English. The manager acted like he didn't understand English, at all. So, I laid it out to him in his native language, which he didn't think I spoke fluently. Pubic hairs in food.

I expected less after see and read the review. But i was wrong. This place surprised me. I ordered the Hawaiian bbq combo. Did u see my portion? My gosh, it's a lot of food. I can't finish half of it. Food is 3. The taste is ok. I gave 1 extra star for the portion. That's a lot of meat. These day meat price is high. For them to give me so much meat, that's crazy generous.

A decently better Hawaiian BBQ chain (hawaiian express just sucks tbh) Placed an online order @11am opening of store. They're quick, order ready in 8 minutes. - Why I like Ono's - The teriyaki sauce and katsu sauce are dispensed on the side by the soda and come out hot and tasty which is great. (The teriyaki sauce used to be better more sweet, but it's better than nothing because the BBQ beef is dry and plain.) You can substitute the steamed veggies for 1 scoop of steamed rice or macaroni salad at no extra charge which is awesome The macaroni salad here is good/better than other chains Fair prices - Notes - - only had 2 sodas when I visited Feb 2022, in the fountain coke or sprite & 2 gold peak tea flavors - crab Rangoon here was made in the correct shape and actually had the faux crab compared to other spots that lie and do a puff + cream cheese only. It was however not that good here wouldn't get it again. - make it a combo for 4.29 more is value a large soda plus the side u want (my crab Rangoon) made adding the soda a 40cent addition to just Rangoon alone. - BBQ chicken was thin and dry - chicken katsu was solid especially with katsu sauce - BBQ beef lackluster, always get extra teriyaki sauce - Dipping the steamed veggies in the teriyaki makes it all the better - the location can suck being close by the high school iykyk so plan your trip time accordingly. I've been going to Onos for over a decade, same old chain with the refreshed menu photos, and vibes its still the same old and that's fine.

The portions have definitely changed. Ordered the 2 item plate and added extra slaw. Dressing was minimal. The portions of meats was minimal. They add the meat on top of the rice to disguise the fact that the portions are smaller. I appreciated the clean eating area and the options of Hawaiian Sun drinks. The portions are decent but I have definitely noticed the smaller portions.

Solid spot to get your Hawaiian bbq fix on. Wish they would provide katsu sauce automatically for pickup orders. I forgot to check the first time but they do have it available via pump to get as much as your heart desires. read more

The food at this location has always been consistent. I usually get the fried fish or the fried fish with BBQ chicken combo. I always ask for my chicken extra well done, and it comes out nice and charred. Ono has my favorite mac salad, and I like that you can see the bits of tuna in it. I wish Ono had loco moco on their menu. read more

OMG I ordered Sprite, not Clorox bleach & Sprite!! That has to be a health hazard!! I was trying to quench my thirst, not wash my whites!! Y'all better fix that shit before you catch a case!! SMH Not to mention my Kahlúa pork was swimming in liquid!! I had no idea I was ordering soup! You lost me as customer it's not worth the gamble. Mid at best. The 2 gals at the cash register don't understand good customer service. Was not able to order double katsu chicken on a 2 item Aloha Plate. The Lava Shrimp is not good. Management needs to do better. read more

Perhaps I missed the memo, but did this establishment serve gravy as a sauce? I specifically asked if you have gravy. The girl behind the counter says, "Yes," I get my order, but when I ask for gravy "oh we don't have it." I'm glad I didn't tip. read more

I am now boycotting Ono. Fed up with establishments hiking up prices and then skimping on the food. Food and prices used to be really good here. I ask the workers whats happened to my BBQ chicken, he said oh it sticks to the grill thats why its broken up. No fool- you guys are eating my other pieces and giving me crap. Lol Hawaiian restaurants have gone down in quality in general so of course ONO will follow. read more

I am pretty much addicted to their spam musubi and their macaroni salad This place is rt around the corner from my house so its convenient. Customer service has always been friendly I never dine in. I always take it to go Place could be a bit cleaner and the vagrants hanging right outside the main entrance make it a bit uncomfortable at times read more

Located in the Palma Plaza; shared parking lot with Walgreens, Starbucks & Popeyes. San Leandro High is nearby so expect to see high schoolers lurking around. I've been to the Alameda location as well and thought the food was okay but... was in the area. Anyway, on this visit I got 2 spam musubis (spam, chicken or beef), small order of crab rangoons (3pcs) and a Hawaiian Sun canned drink. Total was $11ish. I noticed later that I was charged $0.10 for a bag when the cashier never asked me if it was for to-go or dine-in. I ate my lunch there but yeah anyway the crab rangoons were delicious! $1 each though. The chicken musubi tasted okay. Service & atmosphere weren't that great. Ehh, I'll stick to Hawaiian Drive Inn (Hayward). read more

This is a favorite! The food is consistently delicious and fresh, wait time isn't bad and portions are big, we get about 2 meals per order. He gets chicken katsu plate , fried shrimp as an appetizer, I get the chicken and beef combo. read more

I biked here just because I don't feel like driving for the day. The cashier told me bike is not allowed in the restaurant. I asked her then where I can park the bike, she said "I'm not sure I don't know", so what do you want me to do? Dump the bike? Leave it outside to get stolen? Food is overpriced anyways comparing to Ohana. This will be my last time visiting this restaurant. read more

My grandma loves the seafood platter with tartar sauce here. It comes with chicken, fish and shrimp for the meats, Mac salad and rice in a whole platter. The portion is just as huge as it sounds and it's such a good value (at $14) which is more than enough for the two of us for lunch plus a little extra for dinner. read more

Food is decent for what it is , but please be cautious, the workers here will take money/ debit transactions & go handle food & touch your forks with the same gloves that they used to handle dirty money , instead of washing there hands, I acknowledged one of the young ladies on the register & told her that she remove her gloves & use the proper hand hygiene before handling my food, instead she kept her gloves on & used her current dirty gloves to grab the new gloves & put them onto her hands. I'm sure that one customer may not be enough to make a significant change in this place & that's fine i just will never eat here ( & don't say that i told you) read more

For service, i ordered aloha plate and asked for no salad. The young lady said you HAVE to have salad and we can't substitute extra rice. I told her I'm not asking for substitute just NO SALAD. Again "WE HAVE TO GIVE YOU SALAD" . For real?? She tried to sell me individual plates but I don't think she got it I JUST DON'T WANT THE DAMN SALAD!!! I finally gave up and said No salad dressing. read more

Just recently fell in love with this place. The Mac salad is bomb, I'm pretty much addicted. Chicken katsu is good, I like to dip it in the teriyaki sauce or drizzle some hot sauce on it, but maybe that's just me. Noooooo stars for this place I use to love this place but I will never eat here again and why you might ask ? They do not handle their food correctly when it comes to safety heat temperature all can say is I'm on 4 different medications because I got a stomach bacteria from eating here because the food was handled wrong ... Wash your hands better if you work here Or maybe make sure the chicken is cooked correctly to the right temp and dont handle raw and cooked chicken together just sad that my body has to go thru so much because they didn't do their job right....... I'll miss the mac salad but I could never trust this place again not after what my doctor said and the doctor bill read more

DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. Both the food and the service is awful. I was first to order but second to receive my food although I ordered the same exact plate as the two men behind me. The third customer had received his food first just because he gave a tip. Because I am a woman, they gave me a piece of chicken with half of the meat missing. BTW the food is very greasy and lacks flavor. Avoid this place at all cost! read more

You get alot of food for $8.99. Chicken was very tender and easy to eat. All the foods were good. I also got 1/2 a roast duck and a small box of roast pig to try. They said they cook the roast ducks there. The duck had a mild flavor, but it was tender and moist. The roast pig was good. Moist juicy meat. Crispy crunchy pork skin. There's tables and booths in the dining room. The decor doesn't match an asian restaurant. Honestly, I can't remember what used to be here. The layout and outside design looks like an old style Taco Bell. They have a large parking lot. There's a 7-11 sign, but no 7-11 store. The staff was very nice. You just tell them what you want, and point at which tray of food. They have a Huge Selection of Chinese Food in a Steam Table ! The Decor and Atmosphere of the place is a Repurposed Taco Bell Restaurant!! Service is really good, but the people working the Steam Table speak limited English !! So keep that in mind and be Patient!!! They also sell Roast Duck and Pork Belly by the Pound! I bought a Pound of Pork Belly and 3 Item Plate consisting of Sweet and Sour Pork Salt and Pepper Fish Chow Mein And Fried Rice It was really Delicious!!! They take Credit Card but charge a fee!!! Oh my word, the sauce and cheese all go so well with the bbq. I like how their sauce has a kick to it and isn't overly sweet. The brisket was really tender and smoked well. I personally enjoy fattier pieces of brisket but I bet if I would've asked for those cuts he might've accommodated. The smoked potatoes salad is almost a must. Very unique style of potato salad and pairs well with everything. We noticed they also do catering, and the prices for that also look very reasonable. Would definitely considering using them for our next party!

There are two dipping sauces, a plum based katsu sauce, and a soy sauce hybrid. The katsu sauce has a little bit of heat, but mild enough that my SO whom normally does not eat any spicy, can handle it. Which ever combo or item you pick, it's outstanding. Because the items have a lot of food, I usually skip the appetizers. So for either lunch or dinner, you have two meals out of any items. Service is great, I usually order on the phone and pick it up, but ordering in person or online is fast, staff is great and friendly. the decor is simple and the place is very clean. There are about seven tables and parking can be limited when the place is busy.

I got the Tom Yum broth, and asked for a side of white rice which is free. The broth was super tart and flavorful, like mama noodles which I love. There were ingredients that you'd typically see at hot pot spots like beef, lamb, spam, tofu for proteins, and spinach, cabbage, corn, etc. for veggies. Lots of noodle options, and the sauce bar, although small, I really enjoyed the sesame sauce, house chili, and the spicy garlic sauce. They even have perfectly medium-cooked fried eggs that I felt went well with the tom yum broth. We were conservative with our ingredients because we didn't want to accidentally have a $40 bowl of soup, but we were under the minimum so we had to add a few more to get it to 0.80 ounces. At that minimum, our bowls were a very reasonable $13. The only con is that it's a bit small inside so I can see it getting annoying on busy weekends especially as people crowd around to choose ingredients. Luckily on a weekday late lunch it was pretty dead. Other small con is water is served in small paper cups so we had to ask for refills often. Small gripe but with spicy soup, water is needed and in large quantities to offset some of the spiciness. Service was amazing, prompt and friendly. Overall, solid spot and glad we got to try it!

I've always been kind of hesitant to try one because I was scared I'd end up with a $20+ bowl by accident. I was excited to see that Master Gua Malatang & BBQ opened up near me, so I finally gave it a shot. They charge $14.99 per pound with a minimum of 0.80 lbs, which honestly isn't bad. I tried to be smart and picked mostly light stuff like spinach, sprouts, and tofu. I avoided heavier stuff like corn on the cob or beef balls. When I went to weigh it, my bowl came out to 0.65 lbs, so I went back and added a little more meat and veggies to hit 0.85. My total came out under $13, which is a great deal for how filling it was. I got the satay broth, which is beef, shrimp, and fish-based with a peanutty flavor. It wasn't fishy at all, which I appreciated. My partner got the tom yum broth and I thought it tasted just like Mama brand instant noodles, in a good way. You also get a side of white rice with your soup, but you have to ask for it. Meat options were beef, lamb, and pork belly. Only downside is that all the meats are kind of fatty. Also, they give you tiny paper water cups. If they're gonna do that, they really need to have a self-serve water station or just give people bigger cups so you don't have to keep asking for refills. The service was great though. The lady working was super friendly and helpful. If you're worried about the price, I recommend just filling your bowl with what you think you'll eat, weighing it, and then adding more if you need to meet the minimum. They also have a sauce bar so you can make your own dipping sauce, but it would be cool if they put out some suggested combos for people who don't know what to mix. Overall, I'll definitely be back. This place is perfect for a quick, comforting meal especially if you're nursing a hangover.

There's usually a pretty good line right by the register, so this place is pretty well known by the Asian locals. Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup ($16/2*) First outing here I sat for lunch and tried this. Surprisingly disappointing seeing how busy and popular this place is. The wontons were okay, decent flavor with a strong sesame oil presence. But they weren't that plump and luxurious, just seemed like homemade/amateur versions. Which is fine, except given the nicer restaurant feel, I just expected something more elevated. The noodles were fine, super thin egg noodles that had a nice QQ. BUT their broth was so bland and unremarkable that it kinda ruined the whole experience. I couldn't even taste/detect the protein that made up the stock, just tasted like murky liquid to me. And zero condiments on the table, so I just ate the wontons and the plain tasting noodles cuz the broth couldn't offer anything to the noodles. Womp womp. And their bowl of choice is very weird to eat from. Super tall bowl that if you leave a spoon in there it will sink and be submerged for you to fish out...in piping hot liquid. If I would have reviewed this place just on this one visit, then it surely would have been a sub 3* rating. But I knew I couldn't leave my impression with that one lone visit. Roast Duck - Half ($20/4*) Came back for some take-out deli items and I was handsomely rewarded. Total 180 experience from the soup outing. Their ducks here are slightly more expensive than most others for the area. But it is still worth it imo. They cut it with good skill and even for a take-out box they present it nicely, with the shape of duck still somewhat intact. The skin is not crisp at all but it is very well rendered. Some pieces were not that salty at all but some other pieces are well seasoned, which I thought was strange. But overall a very solid roast duck is to be found here. There's also a big scoop of these tiny beans that are slightly sweet almost like baked beans just not as gloopy. But the bean texture is very al dente, almost crunchy, which I found very strange. Macao Roast Pork w/ Rice ($19/4.5*) This is crazy good...I'll even say special. Super seasoned pork belly is roasted til the skin gets crisp...like chicharon status, except it is just a very thin layer of crispness. So the balance between the sturdy crunch and juicy flavorful meat was practically perfect. It is definitely on the salty side, almost the same intenseness as eating Spam with white rice, but white rice offsets those salty components beautifully. And they garnish this massive plate with perfectly blanched gai lan (Chinese Broccoli) and some other pickled greens that add a nice sweet and tangy component. So between the decadent pork, white rice and diverse greens offerings just made this a complete one stop shop that could make a regular out of me. There's also a Share Tea next door so I've got a harmonious tandem going on here. Lucky Ducky Me yassss!

I came came here for breakfast and they have a very simple breakfast menu available. What you wanna get is the breakfast burrito as it is one of the best I ever had. You could also get the breakfast tots, which is basically the insides of the burrito layered on top of their tots, which is fried in beef tallow. See back in the day, McDonalds used to deep fry their fries in beef tallow which gave it a very umami taste. Unless you are an even bigger fatass than me, I wouldnt recommend orderning both the burrito and loaded tots, unless you want to sleep through the day. So as delicious as the food is, what I want to talk about the owner. I dont think I got a chance to meet him but if you follow SmackBurgers on IG, you will see the owner offer food to the needy or people who are just down on their luck, no questions asked. He's definitely doing his part in feeding the community in more ways than one and I wish him nothing but continued success. I will definitely come back to try their bugers.

The whole pre-cooking and then re-cooking saga has turned the food drier than a desert cactus . I've forked out a good $80+ here, feeding my tribe, but today's the day I say 'no more' to this gastronomic gaffe. I grabbed the barbecue beef mini plate in a hurry, only to discover it's as parched as my humor. And the fact that it's been double-grilled to a crisp? Well, that's just the burnt cherry on top . Peals of laughter from the kitchen? That's not the sound of a well-oiled food machine. And hey, I get it, California living means a fair wage for the hardworking folks, but when the paycheck's plump and the food's still flunking, something's gotta give. Oh man, Ono Hawaiian BBQ is seriously a gem! It's like they took the best of Hawaiian and Asian flavors and packed them into some incredible eats. The Fire Chicken is the bomb - it's got this amazing mix of spicy and savory that's just killer. It's marinated so well and has this smoky flavor from the grill that makes every bite just explode with taste. I love this place, we eat here a lot and its always good. I don't know what everyone else is talking about, this place is way better than the other Hawaiian BBQs in San Leandro.
