Very happy with the food very good quality. I already ate quite a bit and I'm full and I'm a big guy.

This is a great little dive spot! The flavors are there! Wifey loves the chow mein. I love the beef chow fun. We all love the Mongolian beef! It's a bit onion heavy, but like I said, the flavors are all there! The lady was a sweatheart! Super nice and friendly! They make the food pretty quick! We ordered to go and all the containers were super stuffed! Wifey loves the crab rangoon, so do I! It was pouring rain when we went, and they have tile floors, so it gets a little tricky to get from the front door to the order counter. This is our go to spot for economic Chinese food! Great little spot in San Leandro!

Still a solid spot for good food at a reasonable price, especially the lunch specials. Everything is cooked to order, and it's always nice hearing the chef whipping up his magic in the kitchen when you order inside. Seating is small, but it's comfortable and familiar. The Rose Garden is truly a San Leandro staple. Service always comes with a smile.

Rose Garden is located on a busy street. You have to find parking on the street, which isn't hard to find. It's a small place and they only have a few tables inside. I always call in my order so I don't have to wait. The owners are very sweet and always ask if you need additional things with your take-out order. My go-to order here is just their fried rice. The fried rice is here is above average. I typically order the house fried rice, which has chicken, beef, and shrimp. A thing to be aware of is that their fried rice is on the salty side, and they put in a lot of green onion. I always request them to put in less soy sauce and green onions. I've tried their hot and sour soup and do not recommend it. They use chicken instead of pork and the tofu pieces are huge. In hot and sour soup everything should be small bite size. The flavor is underwhelming so I had to doctor it up with more red vinegar and white pepper.

Such a kind family owned business ! Prices are so good and the deals they have are amazing . Wasn't a big fan of Orange chicken but , the sweet sour pork , combo chow mien and Mongolian beef was really good ! We for complimentary cream cheese ragoon as well . Will def be back !

This is the rice. I ate the fish. Rice horrible!!!!!! don't do it.

I ordered fried rice with salt and pepper fish and the fried rice was horrible. I don't know what kind of oil they used It appears that it was old oil. It was disgusting. It has a foul odor and it taste horrible.

House special fried rice, House special chow mein-small

Their chow mein and fried rice are both good I also love their crab-cheese puffs where I got it for free! They are very welcoming and they will answer all your questions/inquiries.

This is my first time ordering from Rose Garden Cafe. This is a nice little hike in the wall which are the best places for Chinese food. I walked in it was super busy. Only one employee taking both phone and customer orders so have patience while waiting it well worth it. I order the sesame chicken combo plate, Prawn with lobster sauce and tomato beef chow mein all for $36 including tax. The portion size is huge and 2 of us were able to eat off of this for 2 days they are not stingy with the ingredients and the food is amazing. I don't think they is MSG either because I didn't have an allergic reaction to it which is a big plus. The woman who took our order was so sweet and kind making sure we weee happy with our food. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the Oakland/ San Leandro area. If you are ever in the area please check this place out. You will not be disappointed. Have a great day and a always. SYOY! :)

It was past the lunch rush hour so we were seated quickly although it was a little confusing if I HAVE to download the app, go up to order at the counter or try to hail down one of the staff. My dad got the sizzling beef which came with an ice tea and I got the Hainan chicken plate which came out super fast. The food was decent but the service was awful. Because we don't speak Cantonese and speak Mandarin instead? And I don't mean efficient, no nonsense service, I mean downright rude. I asked for to go boxes and she literally came over and I had to get out of my bench seat in order to reach the boxes and bag .... she couldn't be bothered to actually hand them to me. When my dad asked for some refill on his ice tea, she literally yelled at him and said 'YOU GOT THIS FOR FREE." We ordered a Hainan full chicken to go and I waited 20 minutes before going to the counter to ask for my chicken. If you're known for your chicken, why did it take so long to get my order ... and twice as long as what you told me?

There's usually a pretty good line right by the register, so this place is pretty well known by the Asian locals. Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup ($16/2*) First outing here I sat for lunch and tried this. Surprisingly disappointing seeing how busy and popular this place is. The wontons were okay, decent flavor with a strong sesame oil presence. But they weren't that plump and luxurious, just seemed like homemade/amateur versions. Which is fine, except given the nicer restaurant feel, I just expected something more elevated. The noodles were fine, super thin egg noodles that had a nice QQ. BUT their broth was so bland and unremarkable that it kinda ruined the whole experience. I couldn't even taste/detect the protein that made up the stock, just tasted like murky liquid to me. And zero condiments on the table, so I just ate the wontons and the plain tasting noodles cuz the broth couldn't offer anything to the noodles. Womp womp. And their bowl of choice is very weird to eat from. Super tall bowl that if you leave a spoon in there it will sink and be submerged for you to fish out...in piping hot liquid. If I would have reviewed this place just on this one visit, then it surely would have been a sub 3* rating. But I knew I couldn't leave my impression with that one lone visit. Roast Duck - Half ($20/4*) Came back for some take-out deli items and I was handsomely rewarded. Total 180 experience from the soup outing. Their ducks here are slightly more expensive than most others for the area. But it is still worth it imo. They cut it with good skill and even for a take-out box they present it nicely, with the shape of duck still somewhat intact. The skin is not crisp at all but it is very well rendered. Some pieces were not that salty at all but some other pieces are well seasoned, which I thought was strange. But overall a very solid roast duck is to be found here. There's also a big scoop of these tiny beans that are slightly sweet almost like baked beans just not as gloopy. But the bean texture is very al dente, almost crunchy, which I found very strange. Macao Roast Pork w/ Rice ($19/4.5*) This is crazy good...I'll even say special. Super seasoned pork belly is roasted til the skin gets crisp...like chicharon status, except it is just a very thin layer of crispness. So the balance between the sturdy crunch and juicy flavorful meat was practically perfect. It is definitely on the salty side, almost the same intenseness as eating Spam with white rice, but white rice offsets those salty components beautifully. And they garnish this massive plate with perfectly blanched gai lan (Chinese Broccoli) and some other pickled greens that add a nice sweet and tangy component. So between the decadent pork, white rice and diverse greens offerings just made this a complete one stop shop that could make a regular out of me. There's also a Share Tea next door so I've got a harmonious tandem going on here. Lucky Ducky Me yassss!

The service is what you'd expect--typical Chinese efficiency, which is no-nonsense, LOL. No chitchat, just serve. Don't expect your food to come faster than the to-go line, FYI. They don't treat in-house customers as a priority. I'll go back to this place whenever I have a chance. Order ahead if you're in a rush--this is not a fast place. But you can always count on their quality.

The restaurant PACKED UP SUPER QUICK! The new colors and chandeliers really make the ambiance fancier than the previous restaurant. They even have a private VIP room in the back. My family and I did notice that the carpets did not look new, and looked like they hadn't been cleaned, which confused us because of the grand re-opening and renovations done. Everything we ordered was absolutely delish dim sum. Their congee with century egg and chicken is packed with flavor! I enjoyed this for a few more days after as leftovers! I gave four stars though, because service was slow, unorganized, and if we hadn't called attention to the manager and servers, we might have needed to wait even longer for our food orders to go in and be served. Our combination rice noodles plate took over one hour and it took us asking one of the managers what happened to our noodle dish, as it had been over one hour, and was the last item to be crossed off our orders list,l. We told the manager we could just cancel it since we were full from dim sum. The manager hurried to the kitchen, then back to our table with the rice noodles dish in hand. We have dined in this Pearl Bay location for years, especially because of the dim sum and regular dinner and lunch menus, so we hope that with more staffing and organization, service will improve over time.

I still can't get over the noodles, it was such a good portion and had so much that if I just got that and no dim sum, it would've been totally fine. There were 4 plates to seat 4 folks but only 3 napkins at our table too, that was a letdown. The speed of food coming out was good as a whole though - we got about 8 items with 1 being a big plate that took the longest. If you're coming on weekends or holidays, be sure to get there before or by opening time. Otherwise you'll have a challenging time getting good parking.

We ordered: Green Beans, Salt and pepper chicken wings, shrimp fried rice (Everyone's least favorite dish), Chow Fun, duck, and probably some other dishes. The green beans were the best dish. The chicken wings were good, but not as flavorful as people hoped, they probably won't be ordered again. The fired rice was a big disappointed, it had shrimp in it, but it lacked flavor. We didn't get a soup. We also had a steamed fish which was really good, coming from a not big fish fan. It was seasoned with soy sauce and was a big hit with the table. Even my picky nephew ate some. The baked pork buns are good - slightly different in that there's no glaze on them but the outside was crispy and the inside tender and the filling was tasty - they are why I'm giving 2 stars. The scallion pancakes were not crispy or flaky - Trader Joe's are better. The tofu rolls were cold on one side, like refrigerator cold, while the other side was lukewarm. The jellyfish salad had no flavor whatsoever, just the very slightest hint of sesame. No salt, nothing. The seaweed salad was decent. The deep fried mochi puffs with meat filling were bad. The outer shell was too thick so the inside was uncooked and doughy. Inedible. And, the cold chicken feet were so tough they were in edible. I didn't know you could make chicken feet like that, so tough. Again not really any flavor, they were just tossed with a little bit of chili sauce and hardly any of that. And no vinegar chili sauce for dipping. I would not recommend.
