The food was really good. However it took forever to get our food. Employee's were very fastidious about handwashing and wearing gloves. How ever they were unaware of customers coming in to order and their awareness of food that was ready. I watched 2 young ladies walk past my order multiple times before taking it and placing it on the tray. The restaurant was decently clean and had a nice outside area. It would be nice to place some kind of barrier,(like a hedge or something) to avoid the people driving into the neighboring coffee shop from awkward interactions. I would give the food 4 stars, however the customer service wasn't great which is why I'm giving this restaurant an overall 3 stars. read more

The food is great. I would say at or above par for a Hawaiian restaurant. No surprise since this is basically a chain without a lot of variance from location to location. Options for every eater and they're all pretty good. The price was not alarming and seems fitting for the amount of food you get. The restaurant has been clean and tidy each time I've been here, and you can get your own sauce which is nice (people charge for that?). My main complaint is the parking lot... which sucks cuz it's not the business's fault, it's just a horrible place to get in and out of and is usually the last place I want to be on my lunch break. Don't walk, RUN! I don't know if I was just starving or this place really HITS. The food was delicious ! We got the Hawaiian BBQ Mix and boy was it a treat! It comes with the Kalbi Short Ribs, Teriyaki Chicken, and Hawaiian BBQ Beef? (Not sure, sorry! The menu didn't specify) but I'm guessing those 3! Also came with rice, Mac salad, and lots of cabbage which I'm not a fan of but it went well with the meal. Service was friendly and ambiance is relaxed. The restaurant itself is cold and unfinished, the style is in I get but to have grafiti of measurements looks super tacky, the food was pricey especially for a combo that does not even come with a drink. What makes a combo a combo anymore? The macaroni was absolutely delicious and the flavor of the chicken was great but the amount of tendons I pulled out of my mouth was just entirely unappealing. This review is More for my wife, although I did order the pick two; not a fan. I tried! I tried to venture out of my comfort zone with this and it didn't end well for me! The meat was too tough, the chicken had nice flavor, spicy and a hint of sweet, but.. too fatty! My wife loved her chicken katsu! She said the breading was good, the chicken was good and the sauce she got with it was a win! She tried my plate and said exactly what I did. Pro Tip: get as much sauce as you want at the sauce bar! It's free and you can load up on teriyaki, katsu sauce and I believe they had one more sauce, but we chose the latter. Overall, service was good, except "at the time I went" the music was loud inside and they had a hard time hearing me with a face mask on. But overall they were helpful, sweet and friendly. I have tried many Hawaiian BBQ eateries throughout my travels and even in Honolulu. Seldom , I get a Short Rib that is tender and the plastic knife doesn't break when I slice it . Today, I decided to order the Short Ribs and not expecting anything special. To my surprise, it was very tender and I can easily slice it without breaking the knife. The Island Fire Chicken has this pretty red shade that seems to communicate, "Hey, just lettin' you know, I have a little kick." LOL. :-D And let me just agree with them, yes, there's definitely a nice tasty little kick there. :-D It comes with the right amount of rice and macaroni salad which tasted as expected--creamy and appetizing. There's cabbage underneath the chicken which is something typical that is included in Hawaiian entrees from other quick-service restaurants, but what I liked about this one was that the cabbage was boiled. I can't remember if I've ever had it that way before (it's mostly just raw & treated like an undressed salad) but boiling it just made it much easier to eat and I love vegetables and felt like I really needed the greens along with the rest of the meal. I enjoyed this entree & recommend it--just remember it is spicy. The Youngest was in a mood for a Loco Moco and was disappointed they don't have it on their menu. Just felt I had to include that. Went by today for the first time. Yelp sent me a Party Like an Elite bonus here. I put on my calendar but couldn't remember why but when I said that, the girl asked if it was for a Yelp. I said an emphatic YES!! Never would've remembered. Anyway she said I got a free entree, side, and drink. I chose the Hawaiian bbq chicken, crunchy shrimp and Hawaiian Sun. There was so much food I fed myself, son, husband, and daughter. The rice was perfectly cooked as was the chicken. The shrimp was excellent and the service was top notch!! We seriously love this place and come here all the time! It's a really great plate lunch. The restaurant is always incredibly clean. We've always had a good experience with the people working out the counter there. On one occasion, our food was a bit cold, and they brought us a whole new plate that was piping hot. I'm sorry I couldn't take a picture of our food, we basically devoured it the moment it hit our table. It was absolutely DELICIOUS First time here and the service was impeccable. Sweet and attentive, they greeted us upon entry and made us feel welcomed. As for the food, it was perfect. Well seasoned beef with a hint of sweetness, the rice was great and the macaroni that came with was the best part. It's so much food for the price and well worth it. The wait is minimal, maybe 15 minutes tops, but it really didn't matter when the food was Excellent. This may have been my first time here, but it's definitely not my last. LOVE IT! read more

So today I came for a Yelp elite grand opening event. First off, before I mentioned what I was there for, the customer service was already amazing in an extremely packed place. Our food was brought out almost immediately, I ordered a bbq katsu plate. It SLAYED in every category. Delicious, fresh, juicy, tender. I'm not sure what the breaded chicken was, but it tasted so delicious like a freak made piece of fried chicken. Somehow better though, not to mention the macaroni. The macaroni ball and the rice ball they offer is phenomenal and gives you the vibe that you're on the beach, sipping a mimosa in the tropics . Bbq chicken? Bbq beef? Insane. Honestly, it was so god damn good and packed full of flavor my wife and I both complimented each bite. The pricing I will admit is a bit up there, nearly 20$ per plate. Listen, if you are ready to treat yourself to an incredible Hawaiian themed meal that you alone absolutely can't finish, then go here. Give them the 20$ bill in exchange for absolute euphoria of the taste buds. Take yourself to an unbelievable Fiji paradise, with each bite. imho Aloha Express is far superior in food quality, taste, and options than Ono. While Ono may have a more expansive menu, by far Aloha Express has better tasting food and more fun drink options to pair with your meal. We popped into Ono HBbq to see what the hype is. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean in appearance. Overall very nice introduction to Ono. We ordered a white fish plate, kids meal, and a bunch of sides. The white fish was juicy and delicious. It was hot and fresh, full of flavor and tasted great. The one gripe i have about the plate is that it's battered and fried. There was no mention of this on the menu. I ordered white fish because i thought i'd get a pan seared or sautéed fish fillet but it does come battered. Our full mix salad did not come with salad dressing so we had to return to the restaurant, which was an unexpected delay and annoying. the kids meal was cute, came in a lil keiki box but was served with steamed rice when we ordered mac salad. by then we were over Ono... I would not order katsu here again because it seems they purposely give you thick and thin pieces of chicken. The two pieces of BBQ Chicken was thicker. Food was delicious.
