This location is inside united noodle (an Asian grocery store). There is plenty of free parking. The service here was fast and friendly. This place actually has Pepsi zero! I feel like you normally get regular and diet! Being inside this grocery store is its own vibe. There are picnic tables, chill music and a large picture of Oahu. Some of the picnic tables are breaking and wood tables would probably hold up better! The food: if you don't get the Kahlúa pork, you are doing yourself a disservice. It comes with a guava barbecue sauce, which I put on my rice. The meat is perfect on its own! I also got the garlic shrimp, which was absolutely perfection! I don't like macaroni salad, but my boyfriend said his was very good and spot on to what he had in Hawaii. My boyfriend said his chicken was very good. Ohhhhh no, Ono! What a place! Can't get enough! FOOD: highly recommend any item from their relatively small menu. I love their curry and chicken katsu. It's flavorful, filling, and just good food. It makes you feel good after and that's one thing I love. SERVICE: this is a counter order establishment. The staff are always very friendly. Absolutely delicious! The portion and quality of food is so worth the price! $12 for this whole bowl with macaroni salad and I was full even after splitting this with my boyfriend! Chicken is nicely grilled (no crazy seasoning with just right amount of grilling). Rice is also really sticky and soft and just right melts into your tongue!!! Service is a little slow because they only have one person working. But, the server was very friendly and utensils are provided at the counter. It's located in the middle of United noodles so vibes are always good! This reminds me of h-mart on the east coast, but more chill and community-oriented. read more

The food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. My wife ordered the Garlic Shrimp with the Kalbi Short Ribs, and I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ and Garlic Shrimp. Everything was very flavorful and tasted fresh. The only thing I didn't like was that a lot of the tables needed to be wiped down, and there weren't even many people in the restaurant at the time. But once I mentioned it, she came right out and cleaned the tables off, so I appreciated that. Overall it was a great experience and we'll definitely be back. read more

This is a bit of an odd location, being inside of United Noodles, but the low key and casual vibes are perfect for a mid shopping trip lunch or just a quick stop while you are in the neighborhood. Simple counter service where they will bring food out to your table, this is an easy spot to go with kids or family. I got the chicken Katsu and Short ribs combo plate. It was a little pricey at nearly 25 bucks, but I will say it was enormous amount of food and ended up not finishing it. Could absolutely share with someone else and be very happy. The chicken katsu was nice and crisp on the outside without being overcooked, and the honey mustard/katsu sauces paired perfectly with the salty breading. The short ribs were the star of the show, sweet and tangy, absolutely the type of meat you crave until you go back. I am very much looking forward to returning next time I need to go to United Noodle for groceries, and maybe even before that. read more

I've been wanting to try Loco Moco so my husband brought me to Ono, we both got the original Loco Moco and shared the hurricane fries, we probably could have shared the Loco Moco because we both ended up super full before finishing the fries. It was good, I wish maybe there was a little more gravy but the flavors were all good, textures etc were all great. It's order & they give you a number type deal, grab your own cutlery & napkins. I had the privilege to try Hawaiian bbq for the first time in California. After that memorable and delicious experience, I HAD to see if Minnesota had any similar joints, especially as someone who loves Japanese cuisine e.g. chicken katsu. To my luck, I was happy to see one back in MN. Obviously I had to go and compare. Rice and macaroni were good and expected. Katsu sauce was a bit too tangy and sweet, although preference varies from others. However, I obviously had to focus on the main star: the Katsu. Compared and contrasted to the Hawaiian bbq based in California aforementioned: chicken was good and not too dry at all. The breading/panko could've used more gritty texture, more bite to it. Some of the breading didn't adhere properly to the chicken as well. Otherwise, not too bad at all. Ambiance is okay, did not expect it inside a grocery store. I wonder if this business expanded and has their own building in the Twin Cities to promote traffic. read more

Hidden gem, seriously. It's inside of a grocery store so if you feel like you're going into a dead end, back of the store where you normally see deliveries, you're in the right place. Once you walk in, it's to the right. So many delicious options, with big portions that will absolutely last for 2 meals. So far I've had the chicken lunch plate and the short rib plate. We also ordered the noodles and eggs on the side. My favorite was the bbq chicken! The beef ribs were a little tough and what wasn't tough was fatty. The shrimp was ok. The macaroni salad was good. I was really looking forward to the katsu but I've had better...the breading was crispy, but I prefer breast meat when it comes to katsu. Sauce was ok, I did like the spice in the katsu, it wasn't just tangy. I'm not a big mayo fan so I couldn't finish the Mac salad even after I added my favorite hot sauce. Having been to United noodles I finally got myself to try this restaurant inside. There was plenty of seating with cafeteria style tables and it didn't feel cramped at all since it's an open ceiling. You order and pay at the front which I appreciate and your order is brought out to your table. They have sparking water on their fountain machine which I enjoyed since I only got a cup for water but they do carry a variety of pop and Hawaiian style drinks. The food was a generous portion for the price ($15.50) and can definitely have enough for two meals. Food was decent and met expectations. I was really looking forward to eating here today, but unfortunately the service left us disappointed. My family and I arrived a few minutes early and patiently waited while the staff finished setting up. My husband and I were even planning how we'd photograph the food to showcase what we love about their dishes. Unfortunately, we were never acknowledged the entire time we were inside. We chose a table right in front of the register, where one of the owners was working on her laptop, and we waited for some indication that they were ready to take orders--but nothing. When another couple arrived after us and were served first, we decided to leave. It's disheartening because we made a point to come here--we even spent time nearby shopping at Target and exploring United Noodles while waiting for them to open. The food is served plate style with plenty of protein options, my go to is the Chicken Katsu and BBQ Chicken combo, but if you want to splurge the short rib is also excellent. It is amazing to have authentic Hawaiian flavors right here in Minnesota, and it is definitely worth checking out. The service is decent, and while the seating can feel cramped during peak lunch hours, that is only because the place gets busy. Love me some Ono! This is my first time coming to the location inside United Noodle; typically I go to their North Loop location inside the Galley. Their BBQ chicken ($12) is perfectly marinated, and super flavorful without being overly salty! They give you a side of teriyaki sauce to dip in but I honestly don't even think it really needs it. The plate comes standard with 2 scoops of white rice and 1 scoop of Hawaiian macaroni salad, but I find it worth it to add the $2 upcharge to do 2 mac, 1 rice. The garlic noodles were also quite good--a perfect blend of savory and creamy! The portions for the mains are a great value for the price; if we weren't starving, each of these easily could've been two meals. I also got a SPAM musubi, which felt a little on the small side, but was still good. I love that this place is inside United Noodle so you can either choose from their Hawaiian juice beverage options, or choose something from the store's offerings. The staff is very quick, even if there's a bit if a line when you get there, and they've got about half a dozen tables for those choosing to dine on, which I think is super reasonable for the space they have. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other offerings in the future. read more

It was so hard to pick from my favorite "Chicken Katsu" or wings. I went with the wings. They are the best Thai Chili wings I've ever had! The sauce tasted homemade and the crispiness of the wings was spot on yet juicy on the inside. Perfection! You can choose between rice, fries (which looked amazing) or macaroni salad alongside the wings. We also ordered the BBQ chicken/Kalua Pork and it comes with rice and macaroni salad. Hard to go wrong with grilled meat. The taste was exactly what I was craving for. The kalbi was tender and savory. Katsu never has much flavor for me and I'm not a fan of Katsu sauce. The Katsu was fine for what it is. The teriyaki chicken was nicely grilled, clean flavor and thankful it didn't come slathered in sauce so I could enjoy the smoky flavor and choose how much sauce I want. I didn't realize I needed to grab utensils myself but the owners nicely grabbed some forks for us as they brought the food. You bus the trays yourself when done. Tables are connected together for a communal feel. You get a lot of food so be prepared to take some home. read more

All of the food here is insanely flavorful. Really great textures, especially their Panko fried items. Always a friendly face at the counter and good service. I'm typically in here for groceries at United noodles, which this is located inside of but either way every time I've stopped in the food has been top-notch. Pretty quick turn around And have yet to have anything close to disappointing. I do miss the little spot that was in there before because they had an insanely good Ramen, but this spot really hits a bunch of notes and I think the mix of Hawaiian and Japanese with a little bit of American fusion is cool. read more

After a recent trip to Maui I was missing the Hawaiian flare! I was pleased to see Ono located downtown in the food hall and eager went to try. I'll be honest- I hate this food fall, but I'd return again just for Ono....but if they happen to move I'll happily follow. After ordering at a counter you'll make your way towards a table where they bring your food out. The portions are huge! Honestly it felt like we were right back on the island. I got the kalua pig and it was seasoned well, with the addition of the mac salad it balanced out the salt and left every bit to hit alllllll the notes. You'll get two scoops of rice wich felt like enough in the moment, but I had a lot more pork left at the end of the meal vs. all the rice being gone. I don't mind that as making rice is super easy.
