    After a couple bites!

Ono Poke is a fantastic option to grab some fresh fish in Memphis. The shop is filled with Hawaiian aesthetic and memorabilia from the owner. Since I chose to create my own bowl and asked for suggestions, the owner was helpful in navigating the menu. The marinated variations of salmon and ahi were delicious. That being said, I usually like to add tons of topping and there is a restriction of only 4 toppings and the portions of protein were a little small. If the bowl was cheaper I wouldn't have minded, but it was a little expensive to not feel satisfied afterwards.

Owner was really friendly! Marinated salmon and spicy tuna were well seasoned and perfectly cut. Toppings were fresh (even Mango was freshly cut) and pretty classic. Overall, very solid option but slightly overpriced especially for Memphis. Would recommend trying the place!

Decided to try 'Ono Poke out last week and was not disappointed. The inside of the restaurant was quaint. I got our food to-go, but staff was friendly and helpful. My wife and I both tried the Spicy 901 bowls, and they did not disappoint. We both enjoyed them. Spicy and delicious! Definitely will be back to try out different menu items.

    Pele Bowl!

Great fresh food!! I got the Pele Bowl and tried a bao with meat inside it. It is a hot bun with meat- chicken or pork. The flavor was awesome. The bread was different and doughy but good! I was glad I tried it. The pele bowl was great! Never tried a poke bowl before. The meat tasted so fresh. It was kinda like chipotle but for sushi. A sushi bowl? This particular one was a little spicy but not too spicy and the flavor was awesome!! I will definitely be back. It was a great somewhat healthy meal alternative. Great sized portion! I definitely had some leftovers! I was thrown off by what a poke bowl was but went with a friend so make sure you know what it is before you go. I hate when people give bad reviews just because they don't like that type of food in general. You have to like sushi, fresh fish, fresh foods, etc. at least in my opinion Don't know what to get? Try the Pele Bowl: Pele Large Bowl (Spicy)$14.50 Tuna+Crab stick meat, Jicama, Edamame, Cucumber, Jalapeno, Carrot with Pele Sauce.

They have the kanaka maoli flag so you know its legit from Hawaii

So excited for there to be a Poke place in Memphis. Checked this place out at the grand opening and it did not disappoint. Coming from Hawaii I had semi high expectations, but walking in and seeing the kanaka maoli flag made it complete. The poke that was served was fairly fresh for being all the way out in Memphis but for a poke bowl place it was ono (meaning delicious in Hawaiian). Only real bad thing is that the line can get long and there is no real place to sit. I suggest you making a poke bowl instead of getting a pre-made one and getting it to go. You have Overton Park and a couple areas to go and enjoy your bowl. Highly recommend the pele sauce, named after he fire goddess.

The fish quality during lunch was great. This place is perfect for takeout. I got the snack size, and it was very satisfying. All the toppings I got were fresh (mango, green onion, edamame) The owner is really nice & I will continue to come here for takeout more often!

Maui bowl! Perfect combination of flavors

I've been wanting to try Poke for so long but was a bit hesitant. After reading all the great reviews I finally gave in! Oh man was it worth it! The bowl seems so simple but it's full of flavor! I got the Maui bowl with marinated salmon, and my husband did a custom bowl. The place itself was very clean, and all the protein and veggies looked very fresh which is obviously important when eating raw fish. We felt like the bowls were a very good size and very fulfilling. They are loaded with toppings and the amazing sauces! It's so nice to find a place where you can eat out, tastes good AND is healthy. We will be making frequent trips back for sure.

Five stars simply aren't enough. This deserves twenty…read more My husband and I are food people. We travel extensively, we eat everywhere, and we've been fortunate enough to have some truly extraordinary dining experiences over the years. So when I say that Porch & Parlor may be one of the best overall restaurant experiences we've ever had, that is not something I say lightly. And it started before we even made it through the front door. The restaurant itself is absolutely charming from the outside -- whitewashed brick, Southern, understated and beautiful. But before either of us could even reach for the door handle, a gentleman appeared with the warmest smile and opened it for us. Such a tiny thing, perhaps, but it immediately set the tone for the entire evening: You are our guest, and we are delighted you're here. Inside, three lovely attendants greeted us at the front, all smiles and genuine Southern hospitality. We had reservations and were seated immediately in the most gorgeous, moody dining room. Elegant lighting, beautiful raised paneling, rich finishes -- classic steakhouse without feeling stuffy or predictable. As a miniature artist, I spent an embarrassing amount of time mentally figuring out how I could recreate those fabulous light fixtures in miniature. And then came Wade. For years -- and I mean years -- my husband and I have had a benchmark for exceptional service: a wonderful gentleman named Seth in Birmingham who was exceptional at what he did that we still talk about him. Well, Seth... you finally have competition. Wade is an absolute gem. Charming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and incredibly intuitive, he possesses that rare ability to actually read a table. He listened. He remembered. He made recommendations without ever making us feel "sold." He helped my husband choose a bourbon, shared little tidbits and stories with us, picked up on our personalities and genuinely connected with us. And the timing of this meal was impeccable. We never once felt rushed, yet we never found ourselves wondering where the next course was. Nothing arrived too quickly. Nothing lingered too long. Wade was there exactly when we wanted him and somehow invisible when we didn't need him. The entire evening just moved along smooth as silk. That kind of service is an art, and Wade has it. Of course, none of that would matter if the food didn't deliver. It absolutely did. The steaks were phenomenal, the meal was incredible from beginning to end, and oddly enough, that fabulous bacon rack may be one of the things we talk about forever. It's delicious, ridiculous, memorable and exactly the sort of thing you want to order when you're out having a wonderful evening. By the end, we were far too full for dessert -- which naturally meant we ordered dessert. My husband knew exactly what he wanted. I was torn between two choices, so finally I told Wade, "Go into the kitchen, choose your favorite and surprise me. I don't even want to know what it is. I'll find out when I get back to the hotel." The man understood the assignment. He chose the cheesecake, and good heavens. It was lighter than a cloud, with these gorgeous cherries in a rich syrup whose tartness cut through the creamy cheesecake beautifully, alongside vanilla ice cream that somehow pulled the entire thing together. I opened that box back at the hotel and knew immediately that Wade had once again made exactly the right call. But what really makes Porch & Parlor remarkable is that Wade wasn't the exception. Every single person we encountered -- from the gentleman at the door, to the front desk, to everyone who touched our table -- was gracious, polished, welcoming and genuinely lovely. You can serve an extraordinary steak in a beautiful room and have a great restaurant. But when the hospitality is every bit as exceptional as the food, you create an experience. Porch & Parlor did exactly that. We were told this was considered one of the very best steakhouses in Tennessee. After dining there, I completely understand why. In fact, forget Tennessee. This is one of the best steakhouse experiences we've had anywhere. And Wade, if you happen to read this: Seth held that title for a very long time, young man. You earned this one. Five stars feels woefully inadequate. Give them twenty.

I'm showing pictures of what they called " full size salad" which was pathetic. I alerted the server and he took it off the bill, but it doesn't change the judgment. It looked like a half size salad I can't imagine what a half sized salad looked like. And then you're leaving guest who expected a larger portion with something pretty puny. On to the main. Chicken breast with two little puny looking legs. I don't even think they were legs. And the chicken breast was totally dried out. Disappointing and really unacceptable. I'm being generous with two stars on the food. Brussels sprouts were sickly sweet. I know they can do better. We sat outside, but normally we sit inside in a very lovely dining area or area near the bar. It was hot as heck outside but the table was available.

I can not believe I have not reviewed Soul Fish as of yet. I am a huge fan…read more Let me preface this review by saying ... My grandfather owned two successful catfish restaurants. As a child I grew up on fried fish filets and hush puppies until my grandfather had to retire and sell his restaurant due to his Health. He still cooks up a mess of catfish for us about two or three times a year when we visit. Yum! My standards for good catfish are extremely high. Good fried catfish is not greasy, light cornmeal batter, tender flaky inside, and slightly crispy on the outside. Sounds simple enough but the truth of the matter is... Good fried catfish takes skill. After an epic searched for any decent catfish in Memphis and surrounding areas that took a few years ... My family and I decided to give up. And when I heard about Soul Fish it took some considerable convincing to get them to go. We where, none of us, disappointed! Soul Fish is without a doubt the best Catfish in Memphis. It is perfectly fried... Hushpuppies are tasty, coleslaw edible if not always yummy, fried pickles crisp and tart, pickle green tomatoes so yummy I could swim in them, and vegetables always cooked and seasons well (special recognition to the cabbage, broccoli, and black eyed peas). The service is always friendly, fast, efficient, and correct. The blackened catfish is pretty tasty too ... Sometimes they get a little heavy handed on the seasoning. Deserts are pretty great as well. My sister loves the Mississippi mud chocolate thingy they have (I'm not a chocolate fan). I've introduced many people (about 40 or so) to Soul Fish - locals and visitors alike - and no one ... And I mean not a single one of them where disappointed. So why four stars instead of five? True... the catfish is the best in Memphis - however it is not the best I've ever had. And Sometimes a filet or two at Soul Fish fall short of perfection... However ... I'm a regular and a fan of Soul Fish Cafe. If you have spent hours and disappointed meals trying to find good catfish in Memphis ... Look no further ... This is the place for you. I promise you will not Be disappointed!

Something for everyone for sure. Our waiter was on the ball. He was constantly coming by and checking on us. We started with the spinach and artichokes dip. Small but good. Turns out, it was the perfect size. We then ordered our entrees. We had an order of catfish fingers, shrimp and grits, and chicken and shrimp pasta. The catfish was real good. Crispy and tasty. Fries were good also. Next, the shrimp and grits. Good flavor. And then the shrimp and chicken pasta. Excellent. Creamy and a little bit spicy. Good flavor. Someone said shrimp were small. Not this time. Shrimp were as expected. All played were huge. There was allot of food. Easy more than any of us could finish. And we were hungry. So make sure you bring your appetite. We finished with an order of beignets. A little bit over cooked but the interior was nice and fluffy. Very crunchy. In all, this place rocks. Everything was way better than expected. In retrospect I should have just driven to Deja vu, in fact .... Looks like I'm going to have to do that soon and from here on after. As a bar Bayou does its job ... It has put forth an effort to appear slightly as a Dark Louisiana bayou bar. It doesn't quite hit the mark ... But it tries so they get props for that. The space itself is roomy and when we went pretty vacant. We grabbed a table and eagerly waited to be brought a menu ... Because it was about two and this chick was starved! We watched two waitresses Walking around the spacious dining area between the four tables that actually had people at them. We watched and waited ... Smiling and suggestively nodding as in 'bring me a menu please before I start gnawing the table' kinda nod. We where acknowledged several times and finally one of the waitresses said 'be with you in a minute'. This minute was more like ten. Finally we get our menu and drink orders in... I asked if the shrimp and grits had any meat in them and just had seafood ... I was told no just seafood. We ordered the flight of soups as we wanted to try them all... My sister tasted the duck and chicken gumbo and nearly gaged. Their seafood gumbo was ok.... Definitely not the gumbo I grew up on but it wasn't terrible. I suppose if I where placed in a situation where I had to eat something from Bayou ... Or DIE... Well I would eat the seafood gumbo. The seafood bisque was ok... Again not terrible but not particularly tasty. The red beans .... Horrible. Sister said the Gator chili was decent and the only thing she would ever consider ordering again though containing very little actual gator meat. I ordered a half dozen grilled oysters. According to the menu they where to be toped with shrimp cheese and louisiana mirepoix. Oysters came out with no grilled flavor drowned in some sort of cream and cheese .... No shrimp ... Not so much as an onion in sight much less a mirepoix! I had ordered the shrimp and grits as I had been told there was nothing but seafood in them .... Boy was that a lie. I fished out six smallish shrimp and ate just them. My sister had the Jambalaya. It consisted of tiny little salad shrimp chicken and slices of sausage and a strange flavor which she finally isolated to the actual sausage. We grew up on aundouille sausage ... In fact our uncle makes it occasionally. Whatever that was in the jambalaya they where calling aundouille we are not totally convinced it was ... And my sister said the bad flavor was conning from the fact the sausage tasted spoiled. Needless to say ... She did not eat more than a few bites of the jambalaya. So there we sat with huge bowls of uneaten food ... Empty water glasses... And all our other plates (from the soup and oysters) crowding our small table. I was never asked if I'd like another beer ... No offer to remove plates... No water refill. In fact our waitress practically ignored us and had to be flagged down for anything. My sister optimistically wanted to try the bread pudding .... I warned her ... But she did it anyway. I tried a bite. It was terrible. My sister being of the more steel stomach type (and her side was covered in Caramel sauce) ate several bites before she made this funny face ... 'This is freezer burnt!' I just said 'I told ya. I can't believe you ate even that much!' It took forever to get our final bill for a table full of practically uneaten food. Then to top it all off ... We both got a little sick. And as we had not eaten anything else that day ... Other than Bayou. In the middle if this review I decided that one star was really an unfair assessment .... In this case zero stars would have been generous. I suppose if you are just wanting to hang out at a bar .... It would serve that purpose.... Maybe they should just remove 'Grill' from their name altogether ... And do us all a favor - stop serving whatevet that is they are calling food!

I ordered it prepared the original way instead of the new menu version that includes Brussels sprouts, and it was exactly what I was craving. One of the highlights of the visit was an unexpected surprise from our waiter, who brought us a sample of their avocado ice cream. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was creamy, smooth, and surprisingly delicious. It was a thoughtful gesture that added to an already great dining experience. The only disappointment?
