Took advantage of the $55 60-minute massage as a gift for my boyfriend. He says that it was OK compared to other places we have been to (i.e. Massage Envy). His only complaint was that they did not ask about any focal points or massage preferences (i.e. strenuous, soothing, etc). I got a pedicure. It didn't seemed rushed but I wasn't 100% satisfied. More so 80%. I had my pedicure done by two people (the man had to go act as a receptionist). There was this other lady that got up while doing this other girl's manicure to prepare the water for another pedicure. They were just all over the place! Nice spa with massage and nail services. Small boutique place, which was serene and relaxing! The manicure was average, it started to chip early, and color choices limited, but good enough for relaxation purposes. Went for 4 mani and pedis for my moms birthday....they only had two techs to help which I was worried we would sit for hours we didn't they did a good job of moving to each of us. I felt slightly rushed nothing special but did a good job. I would give them a try again read more

I didn't have an appointment I called from parking lot they got me right in. I got a mani/pedi the place was spotless the ladies were friendly and proffesional they made me feel welcomed. I've been going to Onsen Day Spa for manicures and pedicures for a few years. I have had good and bad service there. The level of service I get depends on how busy they are at the time. One time, the manicurist kept hurting me with the nail file. When I told her, she told me it was fine and to hold still. She kept bending my hands and feet into unnatural positions and telling me to stay in that position. There have been times when I received great service, but there have been times when they rushed just to get my nails finished. I kept going there because it's inexpensive and close to my home. My last experience with them, I had made an appointment for me and a friend at the same time. When we were on our way to the appointment, a man called me from there and said that we had to reschedule our appointments because a lot of people came late that day. When I asked what time they could see us, he told me that we had to reschedule for another day because they had appointments scheduled after ours too. I told him that they should cancel the people who came late, not us. He told me no, it's ok. We could come on another day. I told him that was a really bad way to do business and that I would never go back there. If you want to take a chance on whether or not they'll see you when you make an appointment, go ahead. I'm not going to do that. read more

They took me for a Pedicure right away and the water was cold and all the nail files were dirty. They had no disinfection containers anywhere. The glass containers that held the nail clippers was too concentrated to work correctly. They washed off a pumice bar in my dirty Pedi tub which should not be reused. And the only thing they were trying to disinfect was with use of a Uv sanitizer that is only supposed to be used to store clean implements. I know this because I am a licensed nail technology TEACHER. Also I guess I was never informed that my license allows us to give chair massages. Not! Nail techs are not allowed to touch anything other than your arms and legs. read more

I went here for waxing services. I thought the lady did a great job, I didn't catch her name but she's petitie, platinum blonde, with an eastern eurpoean accent. She was very maticulous and made sure that it was done perfectly, did a little tweezing, and asked if I was satisfied. I plan to go back for more waxing services. I decided to get a manicure and pedicure as well........big mistake. It was a mess, my feet were still rough afterwards, hands dry, nails sloppy. Also, its not a real salon and they don't have acrylic so they couldn't fix my broken nail. Didn't even know how to file nails neatly, WTF? How can a salon not know how to file nails. My husband and I came in for the infamous $99 special and it was a much needed treat for both of us. He had just come home from Marine boot camp, and his feet and hands were a mess! He always made fun of me for getting pedicures, but the wonderful ladies at Onsen were able to set him straight, and now he asks when we can go get them together. All the services were awesome, even though I was a solid seven months pregnant at the time. They made sure things were appropriately modified and that I was comfortable at all times, which I really appreciated. I would recommend Onsen to anyone! read more

Onsen Day Spa has one of the BEST massage therapists ever. I have massages on a pretty regular basis. I have been to Massage Envy - meh. The Wellness Center has many well trained really good therapists - expensive even though I'm a member there. We are members at The Grand Wailea in Maui & The Spa has been ranked # 1 in the world I would rank those massages as the best , though extremely $$$. And I rank the person I see at Onsen #2 She has given me massages that make me fall asleep. Swedish massages are $55 for an hour & worth every penny. Massage Envy says it's an hour massage & it's really only 50 minutes & most of the time they're late & stop early. I have quite a # ( I think 6) unfortunately, I joined in CA and they said I have to cancel my membership out there & I won't be back there until May read more

I was in the area and came in for a mani/pedi. Admittedly it was about 30 minutes before they closed on a Sunday but they were really rushing, that was kind of annoying. OK local manicure. HOWEVER, the woman who answers the phone and works at the front desk is rude and obnoxious. While getting my nails done, she left and the girl doing my nails was constantly interrupted to having to go to the desk to answer the phone and speak with people who walked in. Stop wasting your time reading this review and go treat yourself! I went here with my nana and mother who both received mani and pedi's which they did a great job on. Neither of the ladies spoke to us when they did our nails but that wasn't a big deal. I had the package for $99 (50 minute massage, express facial, mani & pedi) which was SO worth the money. Ann gave me the massage and it was AMAZING!! Make sure to ask for her! The express facial was relaxing and it was nice to actually have a facial somewhere where they are not trying to sell you product. I feel like other places I've gone to only care to sell you on the face products they carry which I find SO annoying. read more

I enjoy the fact that I can get in at the last minute practically everytime I call. Onsen's employees are very friendly, professional and accomodating. I have had excellent facials, massages and manicure/pedicures. The ped chair is awesome, complete with massage chair and warm towels for your feet and hands. The best. I was there with my mom and my two little girls (6 & 4 years old). We were all to get mani/pedis. The girls that did our nails were great and very accommodating. Once the man in the back came out, the entire feeling in the salon changed. Suddenly they did not have time to do my daughters nails. I was going to paint them myself to satisfy my daughters who were looking forward to having their nails done. *side-note* their price menu offers 25% off for children under 10, which led me to believe that they were ok with having children in their "spa". When I went to paint my daughters nails, since he obviously did not want them there, he told me that it was not ok for little kids to have their nails painted, which is not even true. I feel bad for the women working there. I am guessing this guy is the boss. He is unfriendly, and offers poor customer service. For a flooded industry such as nail salons, the best thing they can offer is good customer service. Onsen is definitely lacking. read more

I want to love this place- it's clean, staff are friendly and do a nice job. The problem I have is that every single time I have an appointment they cannot take me at that time. They always claim it's because an employee didn't show. So frustrating when you count on your appointment time. Today was the 3rd time this happened. They are severely understaffed. The place seemed clean enough and the woman working there was pleasant and polite. While my daughter was getting a manicure, the manicurist left her to answer the phone, which I felt was unprofessional. This happened three times. My daughter was unhappy with the results of the manicure as well because the nail polish didn't completely cover the nails, and there were air bubbles. She also said the manicurist filed her nails in a back and forth motion instead of one direction. We will not be returning. read more

The great prices is what attracted me to this place at first. My boyfriend and I had gotten a couples massage. We only had free time on Sunday and they were one of the very few places that were actually open on a Sunday. The facilities were nice and clean. We had even called to let them know we were going to be a couple of minutes late and they didn't have an issue with that. For the most part our experience there was great. The massages were great. The lady my boyfriend had kept telling him how to breath. This is the only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. She would tell him how he should be breathing and then would inhale and exhale so loudly it actually got annoying. She did this a couple of times through out our massage. My boyfriend and I didn't appreciate this. It even got to a point that my lady made gestures at her to stop but she didnt. I believe her name was Victoria, so try to avoid her. read more

The first time I came here I really enjoyed it. There was a $35 special for a manicure pedicure. The place itself is clean, they have a basket for you to put your purse in, all of their equipment appears clean and sterile, and it is a calm environment without a lot of hustle and bustle. The manicure and pedicure were good, nothing fantastic but definitely enjoyable and they did a good job. I went back for a second time a few weeks ago and will never go back again. I got an eyebrow and a lip waxing, I may has well have gone to a cheap nail salon or tried doing it myself at home. I assumed because they have a 'spa' that it would be an actual esthetician doing the waxing but it wasn't. I presume she was just a manicurist. I didn't notice as much when I was still in the waxing room because of the dim lighting but when I got home I noticed that she hadn't tweezed any of the stray hairs on my eyebrows and had done nothing to shape them. After paying $15 I still had to tweeze them. I had booked a manicure/pedicure and assumed that they had booked the appropriate amount of time. One lady did my nails while another one did my pedicure (it isn't exactly relaxing to have someone stretching your hand across your body, she didn't even bother to move to the other side, plus I couldn't read a magazine or look at my phone). They completely rushed and I didn't feel relaxed at all. If I were going to a less expensive quick type of nail shop that would be fine but since this place is supposed to be a 'spa' and is pricier I didn't find it acceptable.Right after they were finished with me two of their clearly regular customers walked in and they seemed to be much friendlier and taking their time with them. Had they told me they were just squeezing me in and were going to have to do both at the same time I would not have booked an appointment. I will not be going back in the future. read more

My friend had a massage last week and came away bruised. She was also told she was fat and had cellulite, was asked if she eats at McDonalds (she doesn't). Based on that I would never go to this salon. read more

Did the $45 dollar for 50 minute massage special without reading any reviews. The massage was good, but I am concerned about cleanliness issues so I took a shower as soon as I got home. I did not like the fact that the leg bolster was put in direct contact with my body. After my massage she put it in the corner of the room where it was when I came in the room so I doubt they clean it. Most places put it under the sheets so it doesn't touch you. Also, the top of the table was a couple towells which get messed up when you rollover and so I wonder if they wash the linen under that. And the face bolster cover; there was something about it that made me wonder if that was washed between clients either. I really wanted to like this place since it's so close to my house, but I don't want to pick up anything! Now that I see others had cleanliness issues here I'm not sure I'll go back. read more

Very disappointed with the professionalism of this place. The first time that I visited this spa, my friend had popped in to get a manicure, and since I came along, and there were no other customers there aside from the two of us, I asked for a foot scrub/massage. It was a rush job, and the lady was not very polite, almost rude to me. I know that I did not want a full out pedicure since my toenails were already painted, but I still paid for the service nonetheless, and I felt as though I was an inconvenience. Not a good vibe. I decided to give this place another shot with my friend, as she mentioned that they do eyelash tinting which I was interested in getting done. There are not many other places that offer this service around the area. So we walk in, and we're both just standing there. No greeting, no assistance despite the employee knowing we were there. There was one other customer there, but that was it. Finally after about 5 mins of standing there, we were turned away..she literally said no, not today. I understand we did not have an appointment, but now I have no interest in going back. Customer service is not a priority there, and the lack of professionalism is off-putting. read more

I've had facials on a cruise that can't even come close to Onsen! I treated a girlfriend and myself to the $99 special (express facial, massage, manicure and pedicure) but we paid an extra $20 each to upgrade to the European facial. Everything was awesome. We were there for over 3 hours of pure bliss. The facial was absolutely fantastic. Best one I have ever had, ever. She even gave me a bonus scalp massage. The massage...I am a shy person when it comes to getting naked around strangers but she made me feel extremely comfortable. It was a great experience. She listened to all of my concerns and was very accommodating. She also gave me a scalp massage (no complaints about that) The manicure and pedicure. Awesome. I got the French pedicure, which I've gotten at many other places, but it has NEVER looked this good. She also used hot towels, a definite perk. My fingernails are extremely short so I picked out a color instead. I didn't think they could really do anything with my nails but they came out gorgeous. While I was under the nail dryer, the nail tech even gave me a shoulder massage. My friend and I could barely walk out because we were so relaxed. I have never been treated this nice. It was worth the drive from Franklin Park and I'll definitely be back soon. read more

My cuticles bled after a classic mani, and they only have a couple chairs, so forget parties or girls' day out. There isn't much pampering, but they're quick at least, and they have good nail polish. My nails did shine after a buff. I'm not sure why all the five stars. I guess people really like their massages. read more

I did a spa pedi and regular mani. Usually when i get spa pedi they give extra massage too along with wrap and pack in other salons this girl didn't give any massage to my legs at all they gave me only spa pack and wrap. During the pedi she kept the bowl to soak my fingers for mani on my lap. The massage chair was very noisy. She did a good job with the color application and nail trim. The thing that disappointed me the most is she asked me money before she started the mani which is rude. read more
