"Goose Automotive Repair, owned by Gustavo "Goose" Macharro in Castroville, has become a…read moremuch-needed addition to the community. Gustavo's initiative has revitalized a once neglected corner with a beautifully remodeled facility off Hwy. 90. The new establishment boasts fresh paint, state-of-the-art lifts, and updated doors, promising a top-notch service experience. A friend of mine, Tom, shared his recent experience with Goose Automotive. As one of their early patrons, Tom encountered a few initial hiccups during their launch phase. Despite these challenges, Goose Automotive's dedication to customer satisfaction shone through. Although Tom's Jeep wasn't fixed on the first attempt, Gustavo and his team promptly addressed the issue under their warranty, ensuring Tom left completely satisfied. Gustavo, or 'Goose,' as he's affectionately known, is a man of his word. His commitment to customer happiness is evident in every interaction. With a solid marketing strategy and a clear focus on community service, Goose Automotive is poised to become a reliable resource for Castroville residents. I wish Gustavo the best of luck in his new venture."

I brought my vehicle in because it had an oil leak. I let them know that I was told at another shop…read moreI possibly had a valve cover leaking. The shop diagnosed the issue as a valve cover leak. I approved the repair expecting that it would resolve the problem. However, the car continued leaking oil shortly after the repair. When I brought it back the following week, instead of addressing the original concern, I was given an entirely new diagnosis involving additional repairs that were more than triple the cost of the initial repair. Stating that it was my timing cover and power steering hose that was now leaking. What was frustrating was that none of these potential issues were mentioned during the original diagnosis. If the engine had multiple possible leak sources, I believe that should have been communicated up front so I could make an informed decision before approving the first repair. The lack of clear communication made the experience feel like the problem was not properly diagnosed the first time. I don't mind paying for necessary repairs, but I do expect transparency about potential causes and realistic expectations for whether the initial repair will fully solve the issue. Because of the lack of communication and the way the situation was handled, I no longer feel comfortable returning and will be taking my business elsewhere.

She has her car towed to Chad Miller Auto Care and calls me to say she needs a new battery and is being quoted $645. I ask her to hand her phone to an employee, and when I asked why this is so expensive the employee raised their voice at me. I asked for a manager and was informed it was Chad himself I was talking to. I would NOT suggest this mechanic. He is unprofessional and perpetuates the negative stereotype of crooked mechanics preying on young women.

So I read good things about this place. From what I read, they seemed like they knew what they were…read moredoing and maybe they do, but of the two vehicles I took there, both over 10 years old and with a variety of problems, they were able to fix some things, but not all. Mine has an oil leak at least 4 different places haven't been able to figure out. Chad's garage gave me some hope, but they were never able to fix it. I take pretty much all "guarantees" with a grain of salt. "Bring it back"...pffft why would I? You couldn't fix it the First time? More likely, I'll just be dumping more money in sonl you can "half fix it" a 2nd time. One mechanic even told my wife to "hit the dash when her A/C wasn't kicking on...AFTER they fixed it. GTFO... Really!? Cost wasn't exactly on the cheap side...maybe fair, but ONLY if they fix the problem. My impression is they had way more cars than they could handle and were trying to rush them outa there. Fair enough, but I will not be taking either of ours back. Fair warning to those that do.

Ryan met me at my place for a free diagnostic. Didn't try and up-sell me on anything…read more Professional and knowledgeable is all I have to say. We had a full vehicle tuneup on my wife's Camry and let's just just say it was nothing but stellar. Belts, plugs and full brake work done in 2 hours at our home. Great work! Very disappointed with my experience with Ryan. My vehicle is a 2019 GMC Sierra, and I contacted…read morehim because my truck had a coolant leak and I already strongly suspected that the radiator needed to be replaced. Before coming out, he told me he would still need to diagnose it and charged me $115. After paying the $115 diagnostic fee, I was basically told exactly what I already knew, the radiator needed to be replaced. Then I was informed that he couldn't actually do the repair because the job required the A/C refrigerant to be recovered and he didn't have the equipment necessary to do that. His recommendation was for me to take the truck to a repair shop. My biggest issue is, if you're advertising yourself as a mobile mechanic/certified technician and charging $115 just to come diagnose a problem, I would expect you to either have the equipment necessary to perform common repairs or be upfront BEFORE charging the customer that you may not be equipped to complete the job. On top of that, I felt his labor quote was extremely high. He quoted me $700 JUST FOR LABOR to replace the radiator on my 2019 GMC Sierra. I ended up taking my truck to an actual radiator shop, and they charged me only $300 for the labor. That's a $400 difference for the same radiator replacement. So I essentially paid Ryan $115 to tell me I needed the radiator I had already told him I believed I needed, was quoted $700 in labor, and then was told he couldn't even perform the repair because he didn't have the necessary A/C equipment. Based on my experience, it left me feeling like collecting the diagnostic fee was more important than actually repairing my vehicle. I would not use this service again. I would strongly recommend asking exactly what equipment he has and whether he can actually complete your repair BEFORE agreeing to pay the $115 diagnostic fee.
