My review is for the tour that starts at the tractor shed. The scenery is gorgeous next to the creek with the rolling hills. We started our tasting in the beautifully appointed "shed", which looked like it came straight out of Pinterest and then was shuttled to a few areas within the vineyard. We learned a lot and had a great time. I really enjoyed about half the wines. I'd recommend that tour to anyone! We were here with wine club members. read more

Wine is good. Vineyard house rentals are beautiful. Tasting room service left a bad taste in our mouths. Our first tasting experience was outstanding. We left with a case of wine and had a great impression of ONX. Our second visit, one to celebrate a milestone birthday, was the worst tasting experience we've ever had -- and we've enjoyed many California wineries. Tastings were thimble-sized and the waiter (definitely not a wine steward) was not engaging nor informative with our group of 9. We had such high expectations that it was a huge disappointment. I had a $100 tip ready when we arrived. In the end, I felt $20 was too generous for the terrible experience, but I left it anyway. The response from management was lackluster -- especially given our family had rented the ONX Clark House for our celebratory weekend. And we had a reservation at the tasting room. We weren't just popping in. Bottom line, if you're celebrating a special occasion, don't risk spoiling it with a bad experience at the ONX Tasting Room. read more

We stopped into ONX on our last day in Paso Robles. Chris at Crazy Woman Cellars in downtown Paso told us about Tin City and highly recommended ONX, we are so glad he did. First, the tasting room is gorgeous. We opted to sit on the outdoor patio, which, honestly just looks out to the parking lot and surrounding tin buildings, but it was incredibly serene. Our host, Paula, was incredibly friendly, and so knowledgeable about the wines. She made us feel really comfortable. We REALLY enjoyed their rose (rose all day!) and debated between two Rhone blends. We eventually opted to go with the Mad Crush, which we thought was a bit more flexible with food pairing than the Level 22. The outdoor porch was so relaxed, a family played cards nearby while they tasted, which I thought was so great. Paula helped us find our next winery in Tin City (Aaron Wines) and told us about a documentary about Tin City as well. So great. We would highly recommend a visit and we will be back! ONX has never served me a wine that's less than superb. I have a mad crush on Mad Crush; it's different every year but always fabulous. L'Autre Femme is possibly the best white made in Paso Robles. Disclosure - my niece works here. I never miss a chance to spend time at Onx. For a tasting room, they serve very good tasting wines. I really enjoy the reds and the desert whites. Many times we bring a lunch or bread and cheese and spend an hour or two, sipping wines and enjoying conversations with friends or our wine steward. A place never to miss. read more

Too much fun! Had a private tour which included wine tasting and a tractor ride around the vineyard - all for $15. An absolute treat! Simply make a reservation and pay when the fun is over. Our tour guide was an absolute sweetheart and so lovely to have with us throughout the tour. We made a few stops - the best was the whimsical cottage on the grounds. The wine we tasted was okay, not the best but enjoyed the refreshing rose and white. ONX Wines is in Templeton, just out of Paso but certainly worth the drive. read more

I have visited ONX Winery three times. The first time we visited we went to their Tasting Room in Tin City a year. We had an opportunity to meet Christina. She said she was fairly new but gave us a very well experience to tasting. We had such a good time with her tasting beautiful wines and being entertained by fun and spunky personality. She suggested the next time we visit that we should do their Vineyard tour. When we returned a year later, we did book there outdoor tour at Vineyard estate. Once again we were met by Christina. She takes you on a quad around the estate. It's a hundred 127 Acres of winetastic fun! You get to see all the different blocks a varietals. She stopped along the way to show us their private Oasis areas to enjoy our tastings. They even have a tiny orchard of apples, nectarines, and plums. After a tour we were informed that you could rent a room in the cottage. We had an opportunity to go buy it and instantly fell in love with this cute Cottage that looks like it fell out of a story book. Then there we decided that when we came back we were going to stay there. We arrived at Briarwood Cottage Saturday morning. We again we're greeted by Christina. She showed us around the Charming Cottage. Each room has its own private bathroom queen size bed and a window that displays a beautiful view no matter which room you get. There is a sound system that you can control music in all the communal areas of the Cottage (kitchen, patio, main hallway). You are allowed to walk all over the vineyard, cottage property, and small garden. We were even encouraged to pick some ripe plums and apricots from nearby trees. We even booked another tour. This time we had Colette as our guide. She was fantastic! Since we had done the tour before, she was able to do a fun New twist with us. I highly recommend staying at the cottage if you can. Tin City- clean Sleek small air conditioned Tasting Room. Vineyard tour- this is an outdoor tour and a can get dusty. If you do the driven tour I recommend to wear a face mask. Briarwood cottage- fairytale looking home perfect for a romantic getaway. read more

Tractor Shed and Colette was our welcome... tasting glamping style in the shed, which felt more like a rustic patio decorated like Indiana Jones. Wine was all excellent, but Colette made the visit, as our tour guide throughout the vineyard. Their unique blends were our favorite. Colette from SLO full of energy and quite knowledgeable even though quite young. Compared to the typical tasting room just off the highway, this was such a great unique experience... driving around the vineyard in an ATV with pouring at every stop. We have been in the area for the month of July 2022 and have visited/tasted at well over 10 different wineries. We were at ONX twice during this month. Once for the vineyard tour followed by a picnic in one of the Oasis. It was fun and informative. We brought our own picnic lunch and enjoyed a few bottles with the 5 of us a great day Our second visit raised the bar for future ONX visits. Bottles are a bit in the pricier side but it's well worth it. I would have joined the wine club had I not had to many to begin with. I will revisit this winery. Wineries are popping up all over the Paso Robles region and Tin City is booming. Tin City is interesting because it feels like a rural industrial area. It'll be a great place to get all your tasting done for the day by walking. The downfall is that won't be able to enjoy the grounds of any wineries. Plus, you'll need a designated driver at the end of your day if you plan to do numerous tastings. If you want to taste some of the fine wines of ONX, you need to make an appointment first. $15/tasting and waived when you make a purchase. I don't recall how much you need to spend, but it was at least 2 or more bottles...perhaps, even half a case. My tasting included: Mad crush 2013, $48 (Grenache 43%, Tempranillo 39%, syrah 9%, Mourvèdre 9%) Crux, 2013 - $58 (syrah 33%, grenache 33%, mourvedre 30%, alicante bouschet 4%) Praetorian 2013 - $48 (tempranillo 61%, malbec 23%, mourvedre 14%, alicante bouschet 2%) Black Orchid - $48 (100% petite sirah) Caliber 2013 - $65 (cabernet sauvignon 83%, malbec 17%) My pick of the bunch was the Black Orchid and I ended picking up 2 bottles of it. It's scary that the alcohol percentage is 15.6% because it sure doesn't taste like it. Here are the tasting notes from ONX: Our black tie version of Petite Sirah begins with aromas of dark, ripe blood plums, blackberry blossoms, currants and black tea chased with hints of cigar box, burnt sugar and cinnamon, ginger crumb cake. An abundance of flavors confront and affront the palate in a most pleasing way while soft, suede-like tannins linger and linger. Black Orchid is a little less than subtle, but extremely refined; a wolf in sheep's clothing awaits you. 70 cases produced. Overall, ONX is a great place if you don't mind spending over $50 on average per bottle and you have the love to support the small production wineries. read more

ONX was my first venture into Tin City, which I must say is a rather neat and cozy array of tasting rooms. We were equally impressed with ONX. The tasting room is a blend of modern taste with rustic scenery. My wife and I tasted the entire list and couldn't find problem with any wine. In fact, my wife twisted my arm into buying her a bottle of the Petite Syrah when she's typically not a fan of the varietal. This low production winery is a warm mixture of pizazz and authenticity. We were told that this tasting room was less than a year old, and they were steadily growing. I can't wait to see the progress this organization makes in the coming years! read more

Great descriptions of the winery and the area, how the vines are grown, and how the wines are created, with yummy tastings as we went. This tour was a great value for the money and a great way to experience a winery. I highly recommend it. My wife and I stayed at the studio apartment at Kiler Canyon and attended the Dinner in the Vines at the Templeton Vineyard. The apartment was very well set up, comfortable, and clean, and the perfect size for the two of us. You can tell a lot of attention was paid to the little details in setting up the apartment. Dean went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was wonderful. He thought of every detail to make us feel special, even fresh croissants for our first morning there. Visited Onx for the first time in late December 2016. It was also our first visit to Tin City. I was expecting a small tasting room and was surprised by how spacious it was. There was a group that appeared to be doing a private tasting at a table but my wife and I were the only ones at the bar. We were assisted by a young gentleman and and young lady both of whom were knowledgeable about the wines they were pouring. I know we tasted 5 wines, but I can only recall the names of 4 of them. They were Crux, Mad Crush, Level 22 and Black Orchid. At this point I should say that this was our last tasting that day and we both might have been suffering a bit of palate fatigue. As we proceeded through the tasting, everything was good, but nothing immediately stood out. I was allowed to revisit any of the wines, and I did with the Crux, Mad Crush and Level 22. Again, I liked them but was not immediately "wowed." My wife was prepared to leave with out purchasing anything, but I felt like I need to visit some of these again when we had time to sit and enjoy them (and with food). To my wife's surprise, I purchased the 3 I had revisited. Over the next several months, I opened the wines and had them with dinner. I routinely don't tell or show my wife what I am opening, I just let her taste it and see what her reaction is. First we opened Mad Crush, my wife's response was "wow, this is really good, what is it?" She was surprised when I told her what it was. About a month and a half later, we tried Crux, same response from my wife and again with the Level 22 about 3 weeks later. After going 3 for 3, we joined the club. I'm very excited to try some of their other wines that we did not get to taste. I learned that the same wine under different conditions or at a different time can yield a much different experience. I knew these wines had all the elements of what I look for and enjoy in a wine, and I am so glad I purchased the wines I did because they all 3 impressed. read more

This is our first time to Paso Robles and on our first day we walked around Tin City. We stumbled upon ONX and tried to do a walk-in tasting. To our luck, Kevin was able to seat us on their outdoor patio and squeeze us into their schedule. Kevin was the best host we had all day. Very friendly, talkative, and very informative. We found a gem in Tin City and it's ONX. A sweet staff sharing the love for their wines made for a very enjoyable tasting. We purchased a bottle of their 2018 Rosé and one of the last bottles of their 2016 Zin blend. We chose this winery because we knew they were child friendly and they recommended the nearby creamery to our teenage son to visit while we completed our tasting. Those extra touches made this a completely enjoyable and relaxing experience. We will be back! read more
