Amazing time at this year's Oogie Boogie Bash Disney Halloween Event at Disney California Adventure. As always Trick or Treating on the Treat Trails with all the villains and their awesome lines and show makes it more fun and memorable. While our bags are getting filled with different types of treats. This is our tradition for over a decade now. It used to be called Mickey & Friends Halloween Event and would take place at Disneyland. The last several years the Halloween Event was renamed to Oogie Boogie Bash and moved to Disney California Adventure. We love it when there's no wait time on rides and can go on different rides multiple times. We enjoyed the Frightfully Fun Parade twice. We had 3 bags full of chocolates and candies. Oogie Boogie bash is a Disney California Adventure Halloween special event. Its closed to regular park visitors at a certain time so its less crowded. There are many trick or treat lines where you can get a lot of candy and chocolate. And some of the trick r treat lines include a villain from Disney and Marvel movies and tv shows. There are also Oogie Boogie Bash special food items, treats and merch. The regular rides and restaurants are open as well. Compared to previous Oogie Boogie nights it seems the lines for getting candy are getting longer. Still, love how its not crazy crowded like normal park hours. OMG...we had so much fun at this year's Oogie Boogie Bash! As a longtime Disneyland pass holder, surprisingly, this was our first time at the event. With that being said, we knew we couldn't not dress in costumes, and it had to be something really special. My husband and I went as Mary Poppins and Bert! We got so many compliments from both Cast Members, and other patrons of the event. People were asking to take pictures of us, and with us. As for the party though, we loved the specialty food items, the trick or treat trails were really fun, and the parade was the best part. I loved it so much, we watched it twice. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was disappointed that the Fab 5 weren't out and about. Don't get me wrong, I loved seeing all of the villains and other rare characters, but you just can't beat a fun picture with Goofy in his Halloween costume. For the price, we got tons of candy and made memories that will last a lifetime. read more

We had such a great time. It was our first time at this event and we were able to get tickets on a weekday in September. We weren't able to do the early entry was traffic was horrendous so we were kinda bummed about that but we still had a great time at OBB / DCA. The ride lines were so short! It was great! There were plenty of candy stations with no long lines. The only long lines we saw was for Oogie Boogie but when we went towards the end of the event, there was no line at all. Another year at Oogie Boogie Halloween nights at Disneyland California adventure! It runs from August through October 31st. Usually the 31st night sells out the first day with the rest of the ticket options always selling out before the starting date. If you plan to attend get your tickets as soon as they're released. The Halloween themed nights are spectacular. I always love going to Disneyland bringing out the inner child. I've attended this event since way back when they used to have it at Disneyland park. I honestly wish they would alternate years of each park hosting the event. Just personal preference. Unlimited trick or treating stations are set up throughout the park. You are provided with a small plastic bag but feel free to bring your own bigger bags to fill. These treat trails have a specific villain character to interact with. It'll make you chuckle to hear what they have to say to all the guests. At California adventure they have an enchanting treat trail experience at Villains Grove illuminating Redwood Creek like none other. Immersive wonderland of lights and effects while gathering your treats. Definitely worth a try at least once. Crowds and wait times are way less than a regular park day. It does depend on the date you choose! Some nights you will find the longest wait times are about 45min. Upon this visit I was able to ride all my ride choices twice with the longest wait time around 15-20min. Dressing up in costume is optional but so fun to join in on the fun. Parking is not included in the ticket price but can be pre purchased online with your ticket. Disney and friends and Toy Story parking lots are both the same price. Shuttle pick up and drop offs are on the opposite ends of the main gates. The headless horseman rides down the parade path just before the frightfully fun parade begins. First show starts from Pixar pier down to buena vista St. Second show starts in the opposite direction, buena to Pixar. This year they had a dessert package by the terrace restaurant with reserved seating for prime views during the parade. You can purchase tickets for this add on at the restaurant before the parade begins. Halloween Themed food in the restaurants and exclusive merch only available on halloween nights. Might be a hot take but I highly recommend delving deep into spoilers by watching YouTube vlogs of the event to see if it's worth the splurge to you. Many teens at the event looked bored and on the flip side I saw moms with toddlers having a blast thanks to the (quite endearing) personal interactions with the villains. For me, I overall enjoyed it especially as someone who hasn't been to Disney California Adventure in years, but I'm not inclined to return until there's an event update that's much more than simply introducing new villain treat trails. Ultimately a 5-hour event (not including mix-in period) that roughly costs as much as a regular full-day park ticket, as an FYI. Conga line villain treat trails, so you should make conversation with the villains to break up the monotony. No problems hitting up all of the treat trails if you stay until close. Spicier take: Disney influencers overhyped Villains Grove; it's mainly a walk in a colored foggy trail (yeah I did quite like the lighting effects in the Queen of Hearts section, but that kind of intricate decor magic was very far and few between in the trail.....). Most of the rides were pretty much walk-ons (Radiator Spring Racers still had a 25 min wait for the standard line right before closing but there was literally no one in the single riders line.....it took me longer to walk to the front than to wait for a car lol). For reference for prospective ticket buyers, August and early September still have rather warm temperatures even during evenings (could discourage you from dressing in costume). I suggest late September when considering both weather and price (prices do increase for October dates). Sundays sell out fast (requires being virtual-queue-vigilant), but many Tuesdays and Thursdays were still available hours after the last ticket drop (ticket sales usually happen around late June). read more

First time going to Oogie Boogie Bash. And what a letdown. Maybe my expectations were too high? I love Halloween so much. The Halloween theme was amazing. But honestly, is it much different than going to Disneyland during Halloween time? Not really. The treat trails were lame. Just trick or treating in lines. Pretty boring overall. And they give out the crappiest candies; all miniatures too. Mostly skittles and tiny pieces of snickers or a couple gold fish bags. The candy was cheap and you don't get very much. You stand in each line for 30-35 minutes. And some treat trails didn't have a character, so those were really boring. The Oogie Boogie trail was the best because it had the most interesting theme and decorations. Photo opportunity's are included with photo pass. Those are great. I loved that photo pass was included. Plenty of photo opportunities throughout the park. The headless horseman parade was okay. A little slow and boring. Headless horseman went by and then we waited 20 minutes for the rest of the parade to come by. It was so slow. I'd never do this event again. It's not worth $165 for some crappy candy and to see some characters. Pass on this event. They'd have to do some big improvements for me to come back. It's just for kids. And boring for adults. Seeing some of the costumes were cool. I wish more adults dressed up though. That's part of the fun. read more

This Disneyland's Halloween Party at DCA on selected dates. DCA closes to the public at 6pm on those selected days. You do need a separate ticket for this event that goes till 11pm. This party is basically set up throughout DCA photo ops with certain Halloween characters or you can say Villians from various Disney movies. They have treat trails where you walk through and get candy handed to you in your small bag they provided upon entering so it's highly recommended you bring a backpack or extra bigger bag for your candy. They also have various foods for those selected nights. They have a special parade Halloween themed. The park is lighted and decorated to a Halloween theme. Overall a great event to attend and it's kid friendly as well. On a special note you can't really do everything in the 5 hours so basically you have to plan out your night cause there are lines for everything so decided between treat trails , eating , watching the parade getting a spot, seeing the villain characters and going on rides note the rides are the normal rides with the exception of Guardians of The Galaxy they change it to the theme. In my opinion I would do treat trails and characters first then maybe a quick bite while you waiting for the parade which they do twice within the 5 hours. Close to the closing time do Villains Grove but note sometimes that one is crazy long so it is a hit and miss close to closing time. And the main thing is to have fun dress up if you like and just enjoy the environment you only have 5 hours for this event and it goes fast. read more

If you're a Disney fan or if you haven't been to DCA, I highly recommend this after hours event. Tickets sell out super fast so be sure to mark the day tickets will be on sale in your calendar and plan to not have meetings during that time :). We went on 9/3 and it was about $153 a ticket plus $35 to park. The prices will start going up the closer you get to Halloween. Why is this worth it? Because we rode 11 rides between the hours of 3 PM and 10:30 PM (you are allowed to enter the parks three hours before the event starts). We saw their parade and ate two meals. And got just a wee bit of candy. If you're a candy person, bring a few extra bags and go through all of the treat lines...twice. Three times? As many times as you want. We also went into the Villains Grove, which had the longest line, but because it's a walk through experience it went by really fast. Lines are short! And they get shorter as the night goes on and as kids get tired and want to sleep. Candy lines are long but you get loads of candy and the lines go through fast. There's a lot of characters you wouldn't normally see during normal business hours like Jafar or Ernesto de la Cruz. There's also special merch items only sold during this event and they have special food items throughout the park. It's really fun to watch families dress up for Halloween and to hear all of the spooky music and see the great decor. I do wish the event lasted until midnight - That extra hour would be great to have. read more

Highly recommend any huge Halloween Disney fan to attend one of these events at least once! My husband and I attended one of the days in September and had such a good time! It was so fun seeing everyone dressed up and experience the park with less crowds. I believe all the rides are open, but we decided to focus on the treat trails. The only ride we went on was Guardians with the Halloween layover, which was so much fun! You get a great amount of candy, chocolate, and snacks each treat trail while simultaneously seeing face characters you never see in the parks! We loved all the decorations and whole vibe of the night. Loved all the photo opportunities as well! By the end of the night I wished I had signed up for more than 1 day, so it's safe to say I can't wait for next year! read more

We go every year, about 12 yrs in a row now. I have issues w a lot of things at Disney parks/WDW etc, but our family really love these Halloween parties. They're worth the money for the vibes, parades, music and treat trails. We go w our family of 6 each September and it's just a family tradition. My family used to take us growing up in the 70s/80s/90s each Halloween and for all of Disneys faults, this is just a family tradition we all look forward to each year. I left a star off bc I don't like how when the parades are going, we all went to soarin and there was about 12 of us total in line and instead of letting us just walk on, they held the line for like, 10 min for NO reason until more ppl came through. In the past, it didn't matter if there was only 1-2 of us, they put us on whatever ride. It's not right to make us all wait just bc you want more ppl on. It took 10 min extra out of our night and for the prices, that's like a trillion dollars a minute. Also, a second star knocked off bc cars ride broke while my kid was on single rider and her dad was in a diff car so they both sat there for about 35 min alone in diff cars and that's time out of their night too. The broken rides are an ongoing problem ever since they stopped doing preventative maintenance. That's another story on Disney's Greed though... read more

Aha, at last my husband and I were able to go attend the infamous Oogie Boogie Bash Disney Halloween party. How often do you get to go trick or treating and see the Disney villains you grew up watching on VHS? Early summer is when we were able to purchase tickets. On that note, remember this event is high in demand and sells within minutes! It may reflect a steep price, but these days what isn't? Last year we were granted entrance into California Adventure at three pm. In the beginning we had our early dinner at Carthay Circle before the Halloween festivities began to make use of our time. Use the guided map that is given with your wristband to see what favorite villains will be present for the night. It may take away the element of surprise, but it's best to watch from those who have experienced Oogie Boogie Bash on social media. It helps you on what to expect and have a plan for the night. It can be overwhelming and a possibility of you missing out on characters etc. The night will be over before you know it. The night of Oogie Boogie Bash is when you let your creativity come to life and wear a costume with full makeup! Disneyland and California Adventure on any other day enforce rules of no dressing in character. So one might as well take advantage. Do yourselves a favor and wear comfortable shoes with your choice of Halloween attire! To attend every year? One time is enough to make memories that you won't forget! You really are trick or treating to see the villains of Disney and Pixar. Yes, yes they do give out miniature candies, but my goodness your bag will fill up quite quickly. Between the two of us, our arms were getting tired from all the candy. It's January and we still have tons of candy! If you don't want to do all the trick or treat trails I suggest looking at the guided map for your must see. Go there first as soon as Oogie Boogie Bash begins. Each villain was in their element interacting with everyone! Don't be shy if you want to capture a memory with them. They were all very patient and had no problem with taking pictures. There is also Villains grove that is a walking trail of villain sound and ambiance! Don't be frightened by the long line. It moves along quicker than you think. I do think it is best to save the Villains grove towards the end of the night. Did I mention that the Oogie Boogie dessert party is definitely worth it? Each dessert ticket includes seating at a table to watch the parade, beverages, and your own plate of dessert. Each dessert was decorated so festive with such detail and to my surprise each one delicious. Don't feel the need to finish it all because they give you take out boxes. You think you're too old? Oogie Boogie Bash is the BEST time! I figured since we're almost at this season, it would be a good time to finally throw in my review!! We have gone for the past two years now and I must say, they put on one of the most exciting Halloween events in Los Angeles. I'm not one for the scary Halloween's. Too spooky is too much for me, lol so I feel like Oogie Boogie Bash is just right! First of all, if you go early... you could check out all of the costumes that people have prepared for so long and they all look amazing!! We love sitting on a bench an hour before this opens to admire everyone's hard work. The costumes are fantastic and they're serving on the Disney runway!! When this event opens, there is candy everywhere! The amount of candy they give out is absolutely ridiculous. Cast members are literally giving you hand fulls / more than you can even imagine and absolutely more than you have any room for it to be stored haha. You can eat a ton of candy at the park and still take so much home. The character experiences are so cool!! They really take into consideration that you can't see these characters otherwise and the way they have it organized is fantastic. Leave it to Disney to have it figured out so well and to a point where it's crowded but feels super organized. We loved seeing Cruella especially. There is such a fun area where the trees are well lit with beautiful lights and "spooky" Disney sounds. We loved this tranquil area!! What's cool about Oogie Boogie Bash is all of the trick or great spots. They're so interactive and like Disney always does... they give you so much to look at while you're waiting in line. That's a ton of fun. They have a lot of special treats and food for this event as well so if you love the Disney theming, you'll enjoy these. What I really love most about this event is going on the rides when there are so much less people in the park. The events sell a limited amount of tickets so you don't have to wait too too long to get on the rides which is really amazing. The whole park really gets me in the spirit of Halloween no matter what time you go. Tickets open in August for a less expensive price so if you don't mind going early, you can get a good bang for the buck!! They also have special merch so if you go early, you have a chance of them not selling out if some seasonal favorites. I love how Disney does it over and over goes beyond our wildest dreams especially our wildest Halloween dreams. So happy about this event and can't wait to go again!! Oogie Boogie Bash is a Disney After Dark Party that you already pay roughly $200 a ticket to get in. Then if you want a nice seated area for the Oogie Boogie Parade there is the dessert party you can book ($89). I did this in 2022 for my first Oogie Boogie Bash, and I did it solo. When you do not have a party of 3-4, then you will likely be seated with others which I didn't mind. To note: if you have a food allergy or dietary need, you can email in advance to request to ensure they can accommodate! When I arrived, I informed them of my allergy I already emailed about. They provided the fruit plate (pictured) and then even brought out the other plate because it was something I could have (peanut and almond free). Score! I know this would be a one off, and to not expect in the future so factored into my rating as $89 does seem steep for a plate with some desserts, refreshments, and a seated area. It can definitely add up if going with multiple people! Overall, if you have the money and a guaranteed place for the parade where you can sit is a priority then I would book this. If not, just find a place along the parade route where you can sit and you can choose your own sweets at another stand or dining location. read more

If you're a Disney fan, you gotta do this at least once. I attended in 2022 and paid approx. $160 for the October 29th date. This year, 2023, the tickets were priced between $134-$189 with the most expensive dates closer to Halloween and on Saturdays. Pro tips: *Arrive early since your ticket includes a 3 hour early entrance. *The event runs from 6pm - 11pm. Bring a large, resusable shopping bag if you're going to do all the treat trails! The one they give you is way, way too small. *The candy is the good stuff - Mars Co.: Snickers, Skittles, M&M's. You can go through each treat trail as many times as you'd like...no judgement...I got enough candy to last me until Christmas. *Wear a costume - this is the only time that Disney allows it! *Most important: don't forget to take out the APPLE SLICES (healthy treat for kids) from your treat bag haul when you get home. I have a friend who forgot about them- for a week or two - yuck... I was able to do everything except rides... I did all the character lines and photo ops... I did every treat trail... I did the Villain's Grove (Redwood Creek Challenge)... I watched the parade and light show... I didn't mind missing out on the rides since I have a Magic Key. They give you a special wristband to differentiate between regular park guests (who are supposed to leave by 6pm) and don't forget the full-sized candy bar for Magic Key holders. Overall, a fun experience that was worth the extra price of admission because it's so unique. But I think it's a one-and-done for me, based on the incredible snafu of trying to get tickets (spring 2023 system crashes) and the high price. Maybe they should start this in August! First timers at Ooogie Boogie Bash 2023 and we LOVED it!!!!! PURCHASING TICKETS: Hubby surprised me with tickets to OBB back in late June when the tickets first went on sale for Magic Key holders. He was in the queue line since 7am waiting to get our tickets. He waited for nearly 2 hours and booked for the 2nd week of OBB on 9/14. He paid about $140 for each of us. It was not cheap, so we had high hopes. Prior to the event, we did some extensive research through Youtube and blogs about the previous OBB. We had a general idea of what to expect once the day came. PARKING/PARK ENTRY: General parking is at the main Disneyland parking structure but we parked at DTD because we couldn't stay at the event for the entire time so we figured about 3 hours should be good for us. We are aware the tickets allow early entry into the park 3 hours before the event starts but we didn't make into the event until 6:30pm right as the OBB started. FREEBIES: Upon entering, we got to enter through the special event ticketing side. We were given maps of the candy trails and character meet and greets, as well as wristbands and trick-or-treat bags to hold candy. We recommend bringing an extra tote because the bags they give are TOO SMALL. You will get SO much candy, at least 10lbs worth of candy before you leave the event. TREAT TRAILS: We didn't know what to expect from the treat trails. There were so many of them and we had no idea where to start. We did notice the Cruella de Vil and Oogie Boogie treat trails had extremely long wait times since they were at the very beginning of the park and are very popular. We noticed the trails towards the back of the park have less foot traffic. Our wait times for Sid from Toy Story and Agatha from Wandavision had wait times of about 10 minutes. We got to wave at them as we're given candy from the castmembers. The candy selection was incredible. As a grown adult, I have to admit that my inner child was squealing with joy when I was given copious amounts of Skittles, Twix, Starbusts, M&M's (chocolate fudge and caramel cold brew), and by the end of the night, FULL SIZED BAGS OF M&M's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention healthier options such as sliced apples, baby carrots, sunchips, and whole wheat goldfishes. They were just bringing out large plastic bins of candy and treats to refill the carts. It was insane. TIP FOR SHORTER WAIT TIMES AT THE CANDY TRAILS: We went straight to the Oogie Boogie candy trail when the parade was about the start. There was NO wait. It was a walk on, as there were about 8 candy stations within the candy trail and we got some great videos and photos of Oogie Boogie himself. There were some other trails that had no characters, those would just breeze by fast with at least 5 candy stations. One of the trails was so empty that castmembers encouraged us to go back a SECOND time to get even more candy. CHARACTER MEET & GREETS/PHOTO OPS: We didn't get to do the character meet & greets because the wait time was too long for them, at least an hour long. We ended up doing the photo ops since there were SO many scattered around the park. All of the professional photos were complimentary that night, so we took as many as we possibly could. RIDES: Short wait times! If you have the time. Go on them. It is worth it. Radiator Spring Racers had about a 30 minute wait time and most of the other rides had about a 5-10 minute wait time. PARADE: We caught the tail end of the parade but love how fun and interactive the characters were. The parade was very organized for those sitting down to view and for those who just wanted to pass by and glance. Everyone had a great view! VILLAINS GROVE: DO NOT SKIP. They do not officially open until sunset and the wait can be a bit long, but its an amazing experience. The special effects and lights make the experience very immersive and fun. The villains aren't actually there, but you can feel their spirit! OBB EXCLUSIVE ITEMS: We read on the blog that there were some exclusive merch only sold during the event. Hubby and I had our eyes set on a few of the pins, so we went into the shops to ask if they had them. You can purchase them at the checkout desk. They only have a limited supply out for the night. We got a Magic Key exclusive pin and an event pin. Magic Key discount was applied. It was the perfect little keepsake. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: We were honestly mindblown by how well coordinated and organized OBB is. We love that every adult and child got to dress up in costume. The amount of candy we took home was absolutely insane and they gave out GOOD candy. Kudos to all of the castmembers for working so hard making sure we all had a good time, especially the ones who were handing out candy alone!! We only spent about 3 hours at the event but felt that we made the most of it. We absolutely LOVE the event and are definitely coming back next year. We recommended OBB to anyone who hasn't tried it out yet. It's a MUST and buy those tickets EARLY. read more

One and done. Now that I've experienced it, there's really no reason to go back. A real scary-bad value. It's way too crowded to have a special event at DCA, as there are far less rides to help thin out the lines/crowds (versus special events at Disneyland.) Ride lines are 45-60 minutes on average (much longer than Merriest Nights) and I got a total of six pieces of candy all night -- again because of the long lines. In addition to the $149 for the Oogie Boogie Bash, we shelled out an additional $89 to partake in the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party at Sonoma Terrace -- another waste of money. One can get a very good seat for the short parade without it, so you're paying for a plate of desserts plus beverages (two of which may be of the adult variety.) read more

An evening at the Oogie Boogie Bash is gonna be a fun one, because, let's face it, it's a good time to just be in a Disney park. The decor was on point, we loved the characters, the ride lines were shorter than average, and the ambient music was wonderfully appropriate! Our favourite part was the Frightfully Fun Parade, as it was filled with extraordinary dancers, fun music, and an excellent cast of characters! Unfortunately, it was short-lived and was interrupted by intermittent dead space. Overall, there wasn't much to do at the event. The treat trails were cool because of the characters and you do get a ton of candy and some fruit (grapes, apple slices). Otherwise, the trails are kinda short. If you have kids or really like candy, then the treat trails are great! For us, they were a little disappointing. Even Villains Grove was a bit underwhelming for us, and we were really looking forward to it. We had hoped to see more characters there. For the price, none of us felt that we would return to this event. It was almost the price of a park-hopper pass for a full day. Halloween is my favourite day of the year, and this night was filled with amazing costumes from the guests. This made me happier than everything else offered at the party, though it did not make up for the price. I felt that some of the costumes and make-up from the patrons were even better than the cast members! Seriously in awe! People are so talented and creative! If you do go, then bring a backpack or shopping bag. You get multiple handfuls of candy at each trail. We filled the Disney-provided bags after just 2 of the treat trails! PRO-TIP: 1) Make sure you plan accordingly with the people that you are going with. We had someone who only wanted to drink and go on rides and another person who just wanted to do treat trails and this made a lot of the night feel like a waste of time for me... 2) You can enter DCA at around 3 PM, 3 hours before the festivities start. I definitely recommend this so you can get food in you, go shopping, or ride some rides, so that you can maximize your time at Oogie Boogie. 3) Despite being in fall, it is super hot at the start of the event and a lot of walking. I can't fathom people wearing full faces of make up and face paint, wigs, and heels (despite being a seasoned cosplayer). Unless your main goal there is for pictures, I'd opt for a more comfortable, mobile fit. 4) Later on in the night, it does get a bit chilly, especially with your sweat dried and cooled off on you. So bring a light jacket for later. We went on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Definitely much more crowded than what I would have expected. Due to some discrepancies in my group, we were only able to go on some of the treat trails, notably the villains we saw were the Evil Queen, Sid, Agatha, the Mad Hatter, and Dr. Facilier. For the life of us, the lines for Cruella and Oogie were extremely long and the Villain's Grove (an immersive experience, no treats) was 70 minutes. Definitely not worth it with the limited time that we had. Unless you get there super early and don't mind throwing away $$$ for mid desserts and okay seats, the dessert diner with parade seating isn't worth it. The parade runs twice a night and features the Headless Horseman with a long pause afterwards and then you get the villains showing up, the Haunted Mansion themed characters and float, and the classic Disney crew (Mickey, etc), in their Halloween garb. Despite this, I was able to get around a tote bag full of candy, with some chips, cookies, apples, carrots, and grapes. A nice haul for sure! The lines for rides are definitely shorter than average, but you can "technically" go on these rides at any time. If I was a bit more assertive/or a bitch, I would have honestly overruled that one person in our party and focused on Oogie Boogie limited activities. Other that, I loved the aesthetics, decor on the buildings, lightings, characters that showed up, and especially the Oogie Boogie treat trail balloons. read more

This was my first afterhours event at Disney and I am so glad I was able to get a ticket. There is so much to do with so little time! Oogie Boogie Bash is filled with treat trails, parade, unique character viewings, all the people in their costumes, and so much fun! I followed a few IG influencers to get the scoop on how to make the most out of my time. I was able to hit all the treat trails, see all the special characters on my list, and had a blast doing it all. This event is especially great for kiddos because they can get so much candy. Don't forget to bring another bag to carry the candy because the little bag they give is not enough. My tip is to arrive early to eat before the event, map out what you want to see and do, and wear comfortable shoes to hit the ground running. Have fun! read more

Years ago I attended the Mickeys Not so scary party when it was held at Disneyland park. I was glad that I went and felt like i never had to go again. Once was enough. But this year, we decided to try the Oogie Boogie Bash & I am really glad that we went! I absolutely loved the interactive treat trails. From Sid to Agatha to Evil Queen to Oogie Boogie (& many more!)--they were all SO much fun! You can talk & interact with each one, I recommend that you DO! They were fun and just a real treat to see. Zombie Captain America was amazing!! The photo pass was included in the price of the ticket but felt that it was a little skimped on. Not many photos ops with photographers to be had. I knocked a star off because Disney was being very skimpy with candy this year. They usually give SO much but this year, it seemed that the cast members were told to hold back or something. Our first experience at Oogie Boogie was in 2021 and I had a fantastic time with my partner. We returned in 2022 with two friends and again had a great time, but did notice some subtle difference. Perhaps it was because the pandemic was still raging in 2021, but we noticed a lot more people in 2022. It was still low wait times for rides, but you could definitely tell there were more people. Oogie Boogie always has a fantastic number of unique characters. This year we were able to get photos with Minnie, Clarabelle, and Daisy dressed as The Sanderson Sisters, Madame Mim, and Ernesto de la Cruz. There were plenty more that we didn't catch, too! The Treat Trails were long but went quickly. There were quite a few CM's that were tight with candy - but that's truly not what we were there for. My biggest complaint were some of the food booths that closed up early. Some were two hours before the event end. We also wished the event would be extended to midnight. We went on 9 September 2021. We had so much fun. The treat trails were very generous with the amount of candy they handed out. We went on Web-slingers three times. The lines were not very long. The villains were amazing. Maleficent was soooooo good. Dare I say Magnificent? (I do.) Mickey's trick or treat was a fun time for my first grader, but the adults enjoyed it as well. You can enter the park at three even though the party starts a six. I recommend a locker if you are going to get a bunch of candy. It does get heavy. I don't know if we will do this every year, but I would like to do it again in the future! read more

You can trick or treat to your heart's content as an adult and not be judge! This was a pricy evening but you know what you're getting yourself into with Disneyland. Or in this case Disney California Adventure's Park Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween Party. We haven't been to a Halloween event at Disneyland for 10 years! We had a great time at Oogie Boogie Bash this year with our friends. I would keep your group with 4-6 pp max. As it will get complicated when everyone wants to do or eat different things. We parked at Toy Story lot by the convention center and had no issues arriving or leaving the park with about 10 minutes wait time for the shuttle. We entered through the Californian Hotel at 3PM because we wanted to check out the Oogie Boogie decor. At this entrance you just have to go through bag check and security again, but the line is faster. You get a color wrist band and off you go for rides til the Halloween event actually starts at 6PM. We were able to squeezed in couple rides like Webslinger and Luigi's Rockin Roasters. They had a special Halloween song for Luigi's ride as well. We got to check out Avengers Campus a bit also before heading to some trails for candies starting at 6PM. Luckily we went to Villians' Groove early and it was only about 20 minutes wait. At the end of the night we must had gotten 10 lbs of candies between hubby and myself. We really enjoyed the 2nd parade with less crowds and we left at 10:30PM. Overall a fun night to dress up and put on some makeup. We got lotsa photos since Photopass is included for this special event. read more

Highly recommend this special event that is hosted each year for Halloween at Disneys California Adventure. Despite the high price point and trust me I understand how expensive this can be with multiple family members and children but I really do feel like we had an amazing time and my 4yr old son still talks about it. The price point in general is hard to get around because all of the special events cost about this much however the amount of candy and the type of candy that is given out was A LOT! 11 treat trails and within each treat trail there was a villain there interacting with the guests it was awesome. The foods were mainly sweet based but still pretty good and the Villains Grove was soooo cool, the lights, colors, smells, wow it was worth it and despite the lines appearing long, the wait was pretty quick. *Tip: never rely on the candy bag they provide it gets smaller every year, best bet is to bring a large tote bag to collect your sweet treats! read more

Best place to be on Halloween! You get to enter the park a few hours before the main event so you can enjoy the rides. When it's showtime, you get to meet and greet special characters with pictures included just on this day, plus special Halloween treats, 2 parade showtimes, and my favorite: trick-or-treating. Since it's the last night of the event, cast members generously fill your goodie bag at the last hour. So keep coming back around! We went (the first time this year), several times to Oogie Boogie Bash at DCA.   The tickets were pricey but coming out of the Pandemic, we decided to splurge to have some fun. Our last time that we went was on Halloween. There are themed treat trails with interactive characters ( like Sid from Toy Story), a parade ( twice during the evening), treats, special Halloween music, Villain's Grove light display. The amount of candy, Disney gives out to their guests is epic...very generous. Although, expensive, I think these tickets were well worth it. The rides have low wait times too due to fewer people than a normal park day. read more

We went to the Oogie Boogie Bash for the first time in probably 10 years since the last Disneyland Halloween Party we attended. Prices for tickets were from $129 each and $179 each, and unlike prior years, do not include parking ($30). The tickets sold out in 24 hours. You're not allowed to transfer or resell your tickets. Do not go here without a plan, or you'll waste lots of time. We entered at 3pm like we were allowed to, but the parks were crowded with a mix of regular attendees and special event attendees. Food service was limited and took an unusually long period of time to mobile order and receive, so we wasted almost two hours ordering and waiting. The parade was great. We didn't have much time after dealing with crowds to get candy (last time we had an overflow of candy, this time nothing), or see characters. The extremely long line for Villians Forest (in the Redwoods Play Area) was not worth it. We had to leave after waiting over an hour. The younger your kids, the more they might like it. If you have a strategy on what to see first and eat before hand, that would probably work better. I hope they fix things for next year. The three years since the last event (thanks Covid) seem to have left things less organized and not as fun. read more

People watching event for all ages. So many unique costumes. The grizzly forest trail was the highlight for me. A sound and sight spectacular. Think of it as a form of fast pass if you want to take rides. Most people are collecting candy, so the lines are generally short. So many villains are at the treat trails. They tend to interact as you pass which is fun. I agree with the recommendation I've heard about skipping the early parade and wait for the late one. After years of trying to kidnap and kill dear old Sandy Claws, this year Oogie Boogie (with the help of Lock, Shock and Barrel) has "bagged" Mickey Mouse and "kidnapped" the Disney Halloween Party taking it to California Adventure. "Kidnap the Mickey Mouse Lock him up real tight Throw away the key and then Turn off all the lights Then Mr. Oogie Boogie man Can take the whole thing over then He'll be so pleased, I do declare That he will cook him rare" You need to buy an online ticket to attend "The Bash," regular admission will not get you into this event! Oogie Boogie ( https://bit.ly/2NyQfrn ) will greet you at the entrance of California Adventure and cast members will take your picture and hand you a paper ticket once your e-ticket is verified. With paper ticket in hand, you get a wristband and map before you start exploring the event. The event starts at 6:00pm, but you can get in three hours early during the week and four hours early on Sundays. There were several things to see at the end of Buena Vista Street including the Headless Horseman Statue ( https://bit.ly/2NzHg9 ) which billows smoke from the nostrils of the horse and its eyes glow. You can hear a horse galloping and neighing if you listen. A cool looking project ( https://bit.ly/2JJlfnw ) was being shown on tower of Carthay Circle Restaurant. Across from the restaurant was a photo op area that had a Snow White that looked like she had jumped right off the animated feature and she was with Dopey which you hardly ever see during normal park hours. Some other rare characters at this location were the Blue Fairy and Pinocchio. Our first stop on our "Trick-or-Treat Tour" was the Sorcerer's Workshop in Hollywood Land which Oggie Boogie ( https://bit.ly/2qgFwd2 ) had turned into his Treat Trail. Next, we hit was the Mad Hatter Treat Trail ( https://bit.ly/2oEkDrT ) next to the Hyperion Theater. The line was rather short and we made it through twice in less than 10 minutes. From the Mad Hatter, we headed over to the Hollywood Lounge to get some Halloween-Themed potent potables and tacos before hitting the Oggie Boogie trail one more time. Leaving Hollywood Land, we walked to Condor Flats and hit the Maleficent Treat Trail ( https://bit.ly/32bZOSm ) which is located next to Soarin' Around The World. From Maleficent, it was another short walk to Grizzly Peak and Grizzly River Run which was home to the Evil Queen ( https://bit.ly/2C3Zzy3 ) Treat Trail. Disney hired some excellent actresses to portray Maleficent and the Evil Queen, both sounded and looked fantastic. Make sure you check out their videos! Coming out of the Evil Queen Trail, there is another photo opportunity with some rare villains including Shang Yu (Mulan), Governor Ratcliffe (Pocahontas) and Monseigneur Claude Frollo (Hunchback of Notre Dame). Near this photo op is the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail which has been converted into the Villains Grove for the "Bash." After taking a stroll through Villains Grove, the better half and I decided to take a break from trick-or-treating and we went on Midway Mania. The line was about a five minute wait and during regular park hours FastPass won't even get you on the ride that fast. After our Mania break, we were back to trick-or-treating, with a stop at a theme-less trail by the Silly Symphony Swings before getting our magnets ( https://bit.ly/2JTHcQG ) on the Passholder Treat Trail near Goofy's Sky School. Our next stop was at Corn Dog Castle for some deep fried dog and cheese. After we consumed our future cardiac event, we staked out a spot for the Villainous! show on Paradise Bay. While I held our spots for the show, the wife hit a the theme-less trail and passholder trail a few mores times before the show started. The candy score was pretty good this year and I was happy to see not a single carrot or apple slice in our bag. Rohlinims: If you hand out fruits and veggies for Halloween, you deserve to be "Tricked!" My lovely wife is quite the picky trick-or-treater and almost all the cast members were more than happy to give her what she wanted because they didn't pay for the candy! I suspect Disney didn't even pay for the candy since the event was sponsored by Mars Wrigley. This was the first year at California Adventure and there are some room for improvement, but I like the idea of Oogie hosting the event. Disney had thirteen years to get the Halloween Party right at Disneyland, so this was a good effort for the first year. I trust Disney will make some adjustments and the event will be even better next year! read more

Generally not a fan of overpriced entertainment but the Oogie Boogie experience was worth the $145 ticket price. The family and I arrived at California Adventure at 2pm. With the Oogie ticket, I think you get in a couple hours earlier than the 4pm usual enter time. Once in, your allowed to stay till 11pm. Given at 4pm its only Oogie ticket holders, there is less of a crowd and no need for fast pass tickets. Lines are still long but not nearly as long as usual. The entertainment is the usual rides, but they have extra shows, that include Halloween characters and of the course and trick or treat walk that provides for tons of unhealthy candy. Overall, the family and I had a real good time and enjoyed all the entertainment. If you have not been, it is worth it and I highly recommend the Cars ride. read more
