Yes, $9. That's on the expensive side for a latte, so I went in with pretty high expectations. Everything about the experience was quick and efficient. The line moved fast, my drink came out quickly, and I was in and out with no issues. The shop itself seemed like a great place to sit down and get some work done or catch up with a friend. Since it was such a nice day, I decided to sit outside. My first sip immediately stood out because of the texture. It was probably the smoothest coffee I've ever had; silky, creamy, and almost pillowy on the tongue. Unfortunately, that's where most of my praise ends. The coffee itself tasted fine, but nothing about the flavor stood out, especially considering the price. I ordered a vanilla latte, but I couldn't taste any vanilla at all and got virtually no sweetness from the drink. Overall, it's not bad coffee by any means, and the texture was genuinely impressive. But for nearly $9, I expected a lot more flavor. I don't regret trying it, but I wouldn't come back at that price point.

Open design is inviting with different seating sections from front tables, couches and then toward the back more tables where it's great for remote work. Then there's the patio. It's shaded because it's on the backside. I ended up getting an iced Blue Moon Latte, Full Moon sweetness and hot moon matcha to go. Both with oat milk. Their signature sweet cream and oak coffee was good. Since I asked for light ice, it was definitely more milk so the flavor was light, just a hint. My mom liked her matcha just fine.

It often takes me a while to get to a new place, and this one had been on my list for a while. Opportunity arose when I needed a coffee shop to meet a friend at in this area and I was determined to not have it be a chain. To be honest, I was a bit nervous as I've had hit and miss luck with coffee shops outside of KCMO in terms of quality. I'm from Johnson County and currently live in JOCO, so I hate to admit that, but I think that things are really changing and for the first time since the Latte Land on State Line closed, there are now officially more than a small handful of great coffee shops on the Kansas side of the state line and this is one of them. First of all, the ambiance is inviting and calm. I did some work while I waited for my friend and it was the perfect spot for it. Since it's pretty close to home, and super close to daycare, I'm adding this to my list of places to go get some work done when I need out of the house. Also, I had an almond croissant which was excellent, and my coffee was really well made too. On top of it all the baristas were exceptionally friendly. All in all a huge win for this part of JOCO.

We came here once before years ago and I remember it being packed then too even though I'm sure it was later in the day. The line moved quickly and they gave you a number after so that you don't have to stand waiting by the counter. They bring your drinks and items out to you while you find a place to sit and wait. I had never seen that before and I really appreciated it. Their menu has upgraded since the last time I came, it's now on two large TV screens that help you read before it's your turn at the counter. They also have a sandwich board with seasonal drinks for those that are looking for something sweeter or with different flavors. I had the Banana Cabana which was my first banana coffee drink ever during this time where they seem to be popping up everywhere. My immediate reaction was that the banana flavoring is not for me. It was still drinkable though, with the perfect amount of sweetness. I don't fault them at all, it was an experimental choice on my part. Next time I will just stick with adding my own flavors to an iced latte. Plenty of seating and despite being crowded, there was a relatively low noise level. They also have plenty of pastry and food options. By the time I left I realized I forgot to order a chorizo breakfast burrito, so I will have to try that next time.

It was recommended to me and it didn't disappoint. I stopped by on a Friday and it was crowded but not so much that I couldn't find a seat. There was actually some seating available both inside and out. I chose inside and enjoyed my cold brew with oat milk and got some work done. A couple of friends met up and they noted we were in "productive mode," so we limited the chat until our lunch break when we headed out. I'll definitely return to Pilgrim Coffee on future visits to the area!

Their other location has colorful seating, artwork, with tables & chairs woven into a forest-like wonderland of plants. This one? A table. A gray backdrop. Sure there are plants, but they're a ways away and it felt more like hanging out in a midwestern garage. The other issue that has me knocking it down some stars is that this has become THE place to get warm. Sure we have our furnaces blasting in January, or a fireplace roaring, but you know that kind of late spring, humid warm? This is usually it, but I have to say I was borderline cold on my last visit. It felt clammy and more "March spring" than "May spring." Coffee is EXCELLENT from Thou Mayest, and it's hard to go wrong. Wifi was not all that strong and ran into a few issues on a video call, but is relatively sufficient for most day-to-day work items if you choose to work from here. If it's equidistant, I would say go to the Shawnee location for sure. If this is the closest one, it's not all bad, but I would love to see some real warmth and color in here to help complete the escape-winter-energy that we all need during this cold, gray stretch.

Maybe it's the former barista in me, but I just never know what I'm gonna walk into. I was bit extra hesitant as I knew from reading reviews that this place was a bit off the beaten path, and as I routed myself there and found my car meandering through a suburban office parking lot maze I became even more nervous about my plan to work from here. All of that being said, once I got close to the coffeeshop itself I saw a sign clearly visible from the lot which was my first breath of relief. The signage is spectacular for a fairly hidden spot. Yes, you need to know it's here, but you will find it rest assured! If you don't see the sign keep hunting. The nice thing about it being in an office park is that there is ample parking. I was able to park and walk right in. The inside is modern but inviting, and at 9am I was able to have my pick of the tables. The day I was there was nice and I had my laptop so I went outside to their patio. I worked out there for about an hour and when I came inside to take a video call it was packed! I was able to snag a table and purchased a sparkling water before using their wifi (which was great!). Now to the coffee - I had a dirty chai and it was honestly wonderful. No notes. The baristas were friendly and overall I had a great time. Adding this to my list of great work spots in JOCO.
