    Coffee class at stop #4

Coffee: all the stars. Really, really good bean. Atmosphere: very kaffehaus, quiet convos, etc. Service: friendly, pleasant, authentic. Throughput: ehhhh, could be better. But so what? The coffee and the coffee drinks are really outstanding, the vibe (yes, I know everybody says 'vibe' these days) is excellent, and Pilgrim certainly has a solid local brand/following. I have had the pleasure of coming here on one of the Caffeine Crawls in the Kansas City area, and their demonstration and pride in their product did not disappoint. Lots of space to spread out, with even some smaller bistro tables on the sidewalk area, and a good atmosphere for focus. The last couple of times I have been into Pilgrim, the line stretched to the door frame. That is not a bad thing, because clearly Pilgrim is a destination, but it makes for a messy bit of throughput. Call me old & crabby, but hey, my orders are simple and I really just want to get my fabulous coffee and go. Handy intel: the homemade Pop-Tart thingys are worth the flaky mess, so yummy! Parking is super easy, because out here in the 'burbs, we have lots of space. Pricing is very fair, less than three bucks for a cup of great coffee, or go a little over $5 for a wonderful pourover. It's a great spot and has held down their space for quite awhile, and it's easy to see why.

I had a latte and cinnamon roll and both were so good. Apparently people select this place to meet up for business meetings. Food came to your seat and staff was friendly.

This location is in a shared plaza with plenty of parking. The space is large with lots of seating. It's busy and loud inside. The service was quick. The prices were decent. There is pastries and gluten free options as well. I tried one of the seasonal drinks the cinnamon roll latte with almond milk. It was really good. I enjoyed it. I would come back and try something else.

Fun coffee shop! Pleasant staff and efficient service. PLENTY of seating--on way to rr I discovered two new sections! Even a small room/table to reserve. I ordered a Matcha latte with a small amount of their signature vanilla syrup. It was fabulous!

I stopped in after a meeting in the area, the place was moderately busy when I got there. I ordered a blue berry muffin and an Iced Latte and was a bit confused when they handed me my muffin and a number with no other information. I left the number at first thinking I wasn't supposed to get it since I got my food. After being there for around 30 min the place go really busy and really load. There are not sound dampening in the space so when I gets load it is just load. I usually don't like to put in both earbuds incase I need to hear what is going on around me but had to use both with volume up. My latte was okay, a little lite of flavor for me.

Place has a chill vibe to it. The girl at the counter wasn't pleasant whatsoever. Shouldn't work in customer service. She gave the wrong info on what was inside the potato burrito. We had two separate orders in our group. Half came in to go cups the other regular cups. Not a big deal but she didn't ask any questions about the order- to go or not, type of milk wanted. Which this place charged $1.25 for milk alternative. Gave it two stars because the latte was delicious. The burrito was house pre made but bland. They do offer salsa or hot sauce. Don't ask what kind- the girl at the counter didn't know or act like she cared.

Great spot for coffee and q relaxing visit with friends and family! Stopped by with my wife, daughter, and her fiancee. Spacious interior beautifully decorated. Loved the hanging lights with the fancy vintage looking light bulbs. Group had iced americanos and iced lattes. Coffee was smooth with a nice flavor. This might not make sense to people but I really enjoyed the ice cubes they use! Great size and they don't melt too fast. Much better than that big chain coffee shop that starts with an "S" and ends in "bucks."

Very cute place - odd shopping center though. Place was absolutely packed. Service wasn't friendly and just an odd vibe. I got the pumpkin spice latte and a pumpkin scone. Unfortunately I was let down by both and didn't finish either one of them. Probably won't be back but glad to have stopped in.

Excellent service, lots of tables and even some private areas for a conversation or a book club. Coffee was good surprising location, but it seemed pretty busy with regulars or people that just knew about it. They do have a selection of pastries and other hot food if you're hungry.

Tons of seating and space, so it's great for getting some work done. The drink flavors are unique, but the coffee could be a little stronger.

I'll start by saying that I have never been a cake guy. Not for birthdays, holidays, weddings…read more.. nothing. Give me ice cream, pie, or a shake and I'm happy. Well, that is officially a thing of the past. Nearly 10 years ago, I found myself standing in a little circle at a wedding, catching up with old friends, when cake started making the rounds. Everyone else immediately went, "Ooh, cake. Yes, please." I passed. Because, again: not a cake guy. But then everyone stopped talking because they were too busy eating cake. I could actually smell the lemon from where I was standing and finally thought, Fine. Why not? One bite. WOW. WOW. WOW. I think I put three pieces of cake down in about 30 seconds. Then I went looking for Justine, my fiancée at the time. Our wedding was about 10 months away and "cake" was still sitting untouched on the wedding to-do list. I had planned on letting her completely take the lead on that one because cake simply wasn't my thing. That plan had changed. I didn't like cake. But I loved THIS cake. Suddenly, I had gone from not caring whether we even had cake at our wedding to deciding I needed my own groom's cake, and it needed to be whatever I had just eaten. So I brought Justine over to the table and tried to play it cool. "Hey, you should probably try this cake in case it's something you'd like for our wedding." Meanwhile, inside my head: Be cool. Don't blow this. Your wedding responsibilities are to be showered, sober, on time, and wearing a tux. Cake was NOT something you were supposed to have big feelings about. She knows you're not a cake guy. Just get her to try it. I handed her a piece like a gentleman, gave her a fork, and naturally grabbed another for myself so I could maintain the charade that I, too, was simply "trying" the cake. I didn't have to wait long. One bite and she said, "Oh my, this is the best lemon cake I've ever had. This is incredible. Do you think it would be rude if I grabbed a second?" I laughed, breathed a huge sigh of relief, and informed her that I was currently eating my fourth. The cake search was over. Enter Ashley Westoff. We had absolutely no idea how much fun this was going to become. We first met Ashley at her home studio, before she had her own storefront. We told her the story about the wedding, my lifelong indifference toward cake, and how somehow her lemon cake had turned me into a man who suddenly had groom's-cake dreams. Justine and I are travel addicts, so I asked Ashley whether, with enough time to practice and prepare, she'd be willing to make something very nontraditional: an old, rustic leather suitcase with belt straps and travel stamps representing places we'd been and places we planned to visit on our honeymoon. She was more than up for it. She absolutely knocked it out of the park. Wedding was great. Honeymoon was great. Marriage was going great. But there was now a problem. I still wasn't really a cake guy... but I needed more Ashley cake. So I hatched a plan. I called Ashley and asked if she would be willing to become our family's official cake person. I promised that I would keep coming up with ridiculous ideas for Justine's birthday if Ashley promised to keep taking my calls. It has been a Batch-Made-in-Heaven ever since. That term is neither registered nor trademarked, but it probably should be. Over the years, Ashley has somehow turned every increasingly ridiculous idea we've thrown at her into something incredible: *Grooms Cake - The Suitcase that started us down this journey together. *Birthday Salad - Yes, that's a cake. *Birthday Café - An entire Café Richard coffee setup. *Birthday Bouquet - A cupcake flower arrangement designed for easy sharing during COVID. *Birthday Sushi - Her birthday cakes had become a pretty big deal at the office, so we needed another easily shareable design. Ashley crushed it. *Birthday Charcuterie - An entire charcuterie board made from cookies and cake. *Birthday Succulents - Somehow plants became dessert. *Birthday Abstract - Designed around tickets to a special event and themed to match the big gift that year. *Bourbon Barrel - For my 40th, Justine took the reins and had Ashley turn one of my favorite things into cake. And every single time, Ashley has taken whatever strange concept was floating around in our heads and made it better than we imagined. That's the part that makes her different. Ashley doesn't just make beautiful cakes. She listens to the story behind the occasion, gets excited about the idea with you, and then figures out how to turn it into something edible. And somehow, after all these years, they still taste every bit as good as they look. Nearly a decade later, Ashley Westoff has become part of how our family celebrates birthdays and milestones. At this point, wondering what Ashley is going to create is part of the gift itself. So, from a guy who once couldn't have cared less about cake: If you can dream it, Ashley can probably turn it into cake.

I ordered a wedding cake from this baker and it was one of the worst things I've ever tasted. The…read morecake itself was dry and dense, like they'd left it sitting out for days. The frosting was overly sweet and had a weird, artificial aftertaste that stuck around long after I spit it out. There was also a strange chemical flavor underneath everything that made the whole thing unpleasant. The presentation looked okay at first glance, but once you cut into it the layers were uneven and the filling was sparse and grainy. For the price, this was a complete disappointment. I wouldn't recommend this baker to anyone who actually wants something that tastes good. Never ordering from here again.
