This place is super cute while also looking very trendy. They have a good amount of standard coffee items as well as some specialty lattes. I went with a seasonal latte that I was surprised didn't end up too sweet. I wanted to try one of their breakfast burritos, but sadly they were out.

bear necessities is the most adorable and cozy space! i got a mocha and stayed here for a good hour needlepointing. the mocha was delicious and the barista was so sweet. didn't get a pastry but i absolutely will be next time because they look amazing! highly recommend if you're looking for a good mocha in overland park!

First off, super welcoming coffee barista! She was making freshly brewed Chai which smelled so delicious I had to have one! Ambiance is spacious, modern, cool cozy coffee shop. They seem to take great pride in providing the very best. Small selection of pastries as well. Lots of easy parking and located right next to the Johnson county library. And guess what their prices are pretty coffee shop normal but they don't upcharge for oat milk! Nice change of pace! Lovely coffee shop!

Stopped into Bear Necessities coffee this morning since I was in the area. The coffee (I ordered an iced vanilla latte) was incredible! One of the best lattes I've had in KC. I also ordered a classic croissant. It was ok. The indoor area is meeting-friendly and work-friendly. Lots of individuals appeared to be meeting with others or working. There's also a spacious outdoor patio that seems like the perfect space for when the temperature is nice outside. There's also a super cute bear mural along the back wall.

Bear Necessities Is A Sweet Shop! Upon Walking In The Vibes Were Immaculate! It's Dimly Lit And Gives A Cozy Vibe. People Were Working On Their Laptops And Looked Very Chill. I Loved It! Once I Made It To The Front I Was Promptly Greeted. I Ordered A Lavender Lattee And Chatted With The Barista About Metal Bands In Lawrence! It Definitely Felt Like Home In Bear Necessities! And The Lattee Was Delicious!

I love this coffee shop. Stopped in for the first time and was happy to see all the house made syrups and unique seasonal drinks. I got a honey cappuccino and it was perfect. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very nice. I will be returning!

I had a great experience at Bear Necessities Coffee! The flavors were absolutely amazing--especially the iced matcha and the iced latte with their homemade toasted vanilla syrup. The matcha was easily one of best I've ever had, rich and smooth with the perfect balance of sweetness. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to offer larger cup size simply because it was so good and just wasn't enough.

I stopped in on a Wednesday morning for a meeting with a coworker and was pretty impressed with this little JOCO coffee shop. It's minimalist inside, with ample seating and a good wifi connection. The barista working was friendly, and my drink was made to my liking. Overall, I'd likely return here if I'm in the area and need a quiet place to work for a while.

A few house made syrup options, but no sugar free. I love that oat milk doesn't have an up charge. While an americano isn't on the menu, and the menu is very limited, barista was able to make me one. Lots of seating for work, and clean bathrooms too. I ended up spending 2 hours on some work, and sipped on my coffee.

"Bear Necessities Coffee Bar has a cozy atmosphere and delicious coffee. In house made syrups are amazing. Would highly suggest the lemon marzipan latte!

Stopped in with some friends today to try one of their cocktails after being in several times for coffee and chai (the best). I got The Great Pumpkin and it was yummy. Definitely alcohol heavy. I tried my friend's classic espresso martini and it was delicious as well. Service is always great and the ambiance is so chill.

First time visiting - love the forest-themed vibes. Pros: - house made syrups - oat milk isn't an up charge! - some gluten friendly pastry selections available - friendly service - Affordable latte prices - only $5 for a 12 oz oatmilk latte with housemade syrup - Siracha available for breakfast burritos! Cons: - only 2 couch/comfy seating areas, rest of seating is metal chairs & mostly high top tables that aren't the most comfortable - pastries are a little pricy Suggestion to add huckleberry syrup to the menu! They sell huckeberry roaster coffee - it would be awesome to have the forest/NW berry flavor here in Kansas!

This was my go-to spot while staying in Overland Park. I loved the chocolate chai, they make their own chai here. I also really liked the pumpkin caramel (housemade as well). I think the pumpkin caramel latte is better with an extra shot (16oz) because it can be a bit milky otherwise but that is my preference. I would try a 12oz with no extra shots but when I tried to order a 12oz I was mistakenly given a 16oz so the next time I went I just ordered the 16oz and added the shot. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Kansas.

Definitely one of the best coffees I've had recently in the north OP area. The house made vanilla syrup was so good and so was the espresso!

It's a great cocktail for a warm summer day, or just taking the edge off. I followed that up with a Kill Bill. It has some good zing and just a little edge to it. If you are feeling really adventurous, see if you can get a Nordic Haircut. Don't ask questions, just enjoy! Awesome location, great service, great drinks!

I believe we all got two drinks while we were there. Price wise they were about what I expected and not way over priced like some other places. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks. The little trash can drink was fun and had great flavors. My only negative about the place is the seating. With almost 5 feet between the seats it was hard to have a conversation with others in my group, even worse with the pair of couples next to us yelling across to each other. I was more in their conversation then I was ours since I couldn't hear my friends.

There were boxes of wine everywhere and that bothered me. It really threw off the vibe. I was seated right away, and my waiter, Chris, was friendly. He walked me through their extensive menu of wines and even recommended a few. I decided to try a sweet wine flight, and he tried to warn me that it was very sweet, but I didn't listen. The flight was super sweet. There wasn't a single one that I enjoyed. Chris did recommend another wine, Fragolino, and I loved it. I could've drank it all day. I wanted a bottle of it to go, but sadly, they were out. Hopefully, when I return, it will be in stock. Next visit, I'll go with something not so sweet.

Our server was super chill and helpful at suggesting wines. We got 2 reds that were a little on the sweeter side which was great because I want to get more into reds but they're usually too dry or too sweet and these were perfect. We didn't get any food since we were heading to eat afterwards. But the menu looked like it was pretty decent. We'll definitely have to come back to try it. I really enjoyed that the owner was there and working. The extra care for the company shows in how well it's kept! Overall, I definitely suggest you check it out. Super cute for a quick date night like we did, a girls night or just to check it out.

It was adorable and the drinks were divine. Around Christmas they do a popup bar and in 2025 it was themed around a ski lodge. We tried to versions of the old fashioned on the menu and though we did like one over the other both were well balanced cocktails. After we ordered our libations the bartender suggested we head upstairs where it was less crowded and it was so cozy we felt like we were in someone's living room. Another couple joined us and we ended up having such a lovely conversation with them, chatting all about our favorite hot spots in Kansas City (gotta love KC pride). Just a note this is a slightly hidden speakeasy inside a pizza place, you need to have a password but it's easily found on their social media pages- just check Instagram. On our way out we decided to get a slice of pie (pizza pie that is) to balance out all that whiskey we washed down. I believe the one we got to go was called The Bee-sting, it had pepperoni and hot honey and though it was simple it hit the spot after a night of imbibing. I would most definitely revisit common tiger even without the winter aesthetic.

And it was disco balls everywhere which I don't hate. It was fun and on brand. Everyone was nice and the place was clean. You can also get pizza. A few looked intriguing but I had just eaten. So another time. My only issue with the space is that I think it closely neighbors the kitchen. It was quite hot inside. To be fair, it was a hot day but still. I tried the Running of the Bullshit: blanco tequila, pineapple, lime, and smoked honey. It was good. The smoked honey was a tad overpowering but overall not bad. I'd probably opt for a different cocktail next time. I had a sip of the watermelon moonshine: blanco tequila, watermelon, grenadine, lemon, luxando, plum bitters, and topo Chico. It was watermelon! But it was good. Very refreshing. Both cocktails were very visually appealing with fun accessories and accents. Definitely check them out!
