The food was delicious, I bought the hot appetizer sampler for my dinner. We had a family dinner, so there was 14 of us. We made reservations and were seated right on time. We did take our time, ordered multiple appetizers, entrees & desserts. They didn't have all of the desserts we wanted, but ran out of 2 we wanted. I'm picky when it comes to gyros and this place has the best meat around; their lamb chops and pork kabobs were excellent as well. Joni our waitress was super nice and did a great job. The inside is very nice too. There's a nice painting that cover a whole wall of a Greek village overlooking the Mediterranean. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Avon, we absolutely love it! It's a little more upscale while maintaining a casual feeling. And the food is excellent. It's authentic and fresh and everything is seasoned perfectly. I don't think we've ever had a dish that we didn't enjoy. We've never had a problem with service. First off, our server, Joy, was delightful. The restaurant was crowded, loud, and hot, but she stayed friendly and attentive. It's a bit pricey, but the food is decent enough. The gyros appetizer platter is a great starter! I got the pastitsio and my husband chose the kefthethes. I would recommend mine again, but he seemed underwhelmed by his selection. The potatoes, rice, and green beans that come with the meal were disappointing--salty and too lemony and lukewarm. I ordered my food and picked it up. As far as that was, it was great. The brought it to my car. Ii liked it.i did have a hard time trying to figure out what to order because i was not familiar with Greek cuisine. Now ask my daughter who orders from them all of the time, and I'm sure she would give it 5 stars. Next time I will know what to order. The Taramousalata appetizers were rich and delicious. My granddaughter said it tasted like caviar. The pan fried calamari was crispy and tender. Ok, so we decided to try this place on recommendations from a coworker as a GREAT Greek food place! Sooo...first the greeting when we arrived was so nice, as soon as we walked in the door, Chelsa greeted us and took us to a table. We were "early" dinner, but the longer we stayed the busier they became, but the noise level was low. We sat inside, but the do have a large outdoor patio area with seating. Chelsa told us a bit of history about the restaurant and about some of the food...we decided to order a "sampler" platter for an appetizer so we could try a few things since this was our first time dining there. Everything was fresh and tasty! For entrees I ordered the Athenian Chicken and it was delicious and my husband ordered the Gyro platter which he enjoyed. Service was very friendly. The restaurant is huge and so is the menu. Lots of choices for veggies, pescatarians, and carnivores alike. Portions are good but ratios are a little off. I was afraid that I wouldn't find anything I'd like, but I was sooo wrong. I sampled many of the appetizers including the Flaming Sakanaki, Appetizer Platter, and the Calamari. I recommend them all. For my meal, which I forgot to photograph, I ordered the pasta tossed in olive oil and basil with tilapia on top. The portion was MASSIVE. OPA!! This has quickly become one of my favorite spots. Greek food isn't necessarily that I usually crave, but this place makes me crave it! We started with 2 saucy beverages. HUGE glass, and very tasty!! For an appetizer we ordered the flaming saganaki.... a delicious cheese dip soaked in brandy, then literally lit on fire! OPA!! We then ordered the gyro sandwich and thr gyro platter. Everything was delicious, and the portion was so large that I definitely had to get a to go box, which last me lunch for the next 2 days. Our server Ava was so friendly and a great server. She told us that all of the cooks in the back are Greek, and the owner is Greek, which explains why the food was so delicious!! I just had the most lovely experience at OPA!. I think what made the experience so exceptional was the contrasts and balance of the experience. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night but we didn't have to wait long to get in. The kitchen and staff were very busy but we didn't feel rushed or left out. The menu was huge but each dish seemed special. It's hard not to make note of the fine dressed, Greek looking gentlemen who orchestrated the staff and made time to stop by the table to check on our experience. It was clear he ran a "tight ship." It was an incredible experience and I would love to see his talents in Indianapolis. I would add that the space was energetic and excellent for our get together of celebrating with friends. It might not be the most romantic spot at peak busy hours but it was super comfortable for a group. read more

First visit to Opa! It is a nice, clean restaurant located at the end of a strip mall in Avon. There is outside seating if you want and indoor seating at four-seater tables. The decor is not super fancy but it is nice and pleasing. We were seated right away and our drink orders taken. The menu is pretty large with a nice selection of appetizers and entrees. Various forms or meats, pastas and seafoods as well as some vegetarian options are available. We chose the flaming saganaki as an appetizer. It was pretty tasty and brought to our table and lit on fire with an "Opa!" Bonus points to the restaurant for serving Diet Mountain Dew as a diet drink choice! I ordered the Athenian chicken and it was a nice presentation and a large portion of food, being served with a Greek salad, roasted potato slices, green beans, rice Pilaf and pita slices. The chicken was moist and tasty! My husband ordered a Greek salad with gyro meat. He thought it was very good, although he does prefer his Feta cheese in larger chunks, but oh well. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We were very happy with our experience and look forward to trying other dishes in the future. Delicious dinner in an easy to pass by location! This place was packed 6:00 on a Friday night which is always a good sign. Staff was upfront that they were understaffed, which we appreciated knowing at the beginning. Despite the short handed team, it seemed like the waiters were all working together to make it work. Owner came by to introduce himself and thank us for coming, again always appreciated. Food was delicious...house wine $5 a glass, calamari appetizer, gyro platter and shrimp for dinner. It is nice to see a Greek restaurant in this neighborhood. One thing I must warn about is that the portion sizes are huge. The restaurant itself is quite spacious with some outdoor seating too. The warm pita with hummus was good. I had the chicken sheesh kebab and it had a nice flavor. The sheesh kebab appetizer comes with 2 skewers while the sheesh kebab dinner plate has fries, rice, salad, beans and the kebab. The fries were crispy as fries should be. They were able to serve me chilled ouzo instead of the ouza cocktail on the menu on request. The service was good. They gave us boxes to take back the leftovers. read more
