Saw that the yelp review was 4 1/2 stars and had to give it a go. It's in a strip mall with basic tables and chairs. We arrived prompt at 6.00pm and only one other couple in the restaurant. Within 10 mins it was nearly full. We had taramasalata to share as an appetizer. Creamy and not too salty with soft warm pita bread. For main we both ordered the lamb shank and was not disappointed! My coworker wanted some Mediterranean food and we made it out to Opa! The colors inside kinda remind me of Santorini... wonder why haha (PS, never been there). Seating was easy to get. For the appetizer, I elected for the hummus- Chick peas pureed with lemon, garlic and herbs. It wasn't as...I wanna say sour? as the hummus I was expecting. It didn't really have the flavor that I was expecting and it was just alright. The pita bread that came with it was good though - gone almost instantly hehe. I elected for the lamb burger - 1/2 lb ground lamb patty infused with herbs flame grilled served on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, feta and tzatziki. It was refreshing with the tzatziki and the lamb itself was tender and good. I wish I did spend the extra 75 cents to make it opa style - which added fries in there.. oh well maybe next time. It's kinda small and I finished it pretty quickly. Should have gotten the Chicago gyro. Service was more systematic. I went to this restaurant once like six years ago and I really liked it. I don't know why I didn't go back. My meal was absolutely amazing and for some reason they just fell off my radar. Recently remembered that I really liked them and ordered another meal to go. They were absolutely as delicious as I remember. I can't recommend this place strongly enough. Let's see.. where to start? First of all I had been wanting to try this place for quite sometime and I wish I had sooner. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The place has a nice clean look, it's set up well with good space between tables and cute little details. The prices are reasonable and the menu is well explained. My gf and I ordered a chicago gyro and chicken souvlaki. I loved loved the meat in my gyro, it was so full of flavor and had plenty of greens inside of it. It does have just a bit of tzatziki in the front, but you can simply ask for more and they bring you some right away. We got ours opa! Style which has fries inside of it. Let me tell you these fries are fresh cut and delicious. I wish I had gotten the opa! fries appetizer, real fries (not the frozen kind) are hard to find at places. We also got some calamari and it was good. The owner/manager was so personal and said he would take care of the appetizer for us because the food took a bit to come out. They were pretty busy when we got there. Mostly with carry out orders as it is now very common. This was not necessary at all, but a very kind gesture. Service was excellent, despite being busy, our server stopped by our table often to check on us, refilled our waters a couple times and was prompt and polite. We also got another gyro to go for our friend and it was warm still by the time we got home. We enjoyed our experience at Opa! I haven't even had the pleasure of going into the restaurant (because COVID) but I have ordered delivery. Let me tell you, their food is the craveable kind! The chicago gyro was so good I cannot stop thinking about it. I have a love of gyros.. I get them whenever they are on the menu. And while they aren't a complicated dish they are hard to make wonderful. Well, Opa! made it wonderful! The pita was fresh and pillowy. The meat was seasoned perfectly! The tzatziki is tangy and creamy with whole pieces of cucumber. I literally think of this gyro and want it all the time! We also had some appetizers that were just as wonderful, so it is not a fluke! read more

Opa is a solid Mediterranean restaurant! Food is fresh, appropriately seasoned and perfect portions. It's in a cafe setting, but you could certainly date night here. My hubby and I had lunch recently we ordered the grilled octopus, zucchini fritters, dip sampler and the Opa Gyro and Chicago style gyro. We cleaned our plates. Our waiter and his team were customer focused: polite and attentive. We plan on becoming regulars! It's really hard to come by great food and customer service like this in Loudoun County. read more

I got the Chicago gyro and I wasn't wowed by it at all. It tasted like any other gyros in the area. I did not like how they drowned the front with the sauce just to find out they didn't put any inside the other half of the gyro that was wrapped. Fries were mad soggy and we found couple undercooked... so we definitely had to airfry it. Overall, wasn't too impressed. read more

The best Greek food we've ever had! You must try the Moussaka and never move away bc you won't find it better any where else. The ingredients always taste fresh. The skewers are tough but we don't order them. Tzatziki is good and garlicky. Greek salad with Chicago gyro is enough to feed 2 adults. Also, the gyro meat is a great leftover. Came in tonight for a quick dinner and decided to split the O.M.G. Platter, which is the Chicken Skewer, Pork Skewer, OPA! Burger Meat, OPA! Gyro Meat, Chicago Gyro Meat, OPA! Came here with some girlfriends on a Monday night. The place is very small but the owners are very sweet and the food is delicious! The only disappointment is the drink list. If you want wine by the glass you have only one option in white and two options in red. So ended up getting beer instead. For appetizer we got a feta and roasted jalapeño dip (with pita) which was delicious. For dinner I had the Chicago Gyro which was fantastic. I only wish it had had more tzatziki sauce! One of my friends got a sampler platter which looked great and my other friend got a phyllo pastry dough filled with spinach which also looked great. Not any good dessert options which was a bummer. In Northern Virginia for a lacrosse tournament looking for somewhere to eat with clean good food. This had a very high rating... many reviews 4.5 It did not disappoint It was busy on Friday at 630. We had to wait ten minutes. Not a problem. It's a small restaurant that stays packed a dinner - good sign. I still gave it five stars even though the waitress forgot the salad that came with my dinner and never asked me if I wanted another beer I really didn't care the food was so damn good it just didn't care. the grapeleaf appetizer was unbelievable... not soaked in olive oil... slimy... these were seconds from being made... so fresh... I've NEVER had any like these. The meat and rice was perfectly bound... not oily and fatty... lean, slight crumble... tart leaf. Unreal. Got the meatballs on the appetizer menu and once again, the meet was very lean but not dry... it was home chef quality and it's hard to plate a meatball that's not too greasy. Wow. My son got the Chicago gyro - he loved it; said it's the best he's ever had. It came with hand cut fries. I tasted them and was shocked to find that apart from being delicious, the chef did not over salt the fries. 99% over salt these days and 100% of steak houses over salt... this establishment has food that tastes like a home cooked meal... no wannabe chef pinching "seasoning" all over this food... delicious. My lamb kabob was perfect. Oil was just right. Very low salt. Rice was unreal... amazing. We ordered spanakopita appetizer after we ate dinner because we had to try it. Delicious. I got a chicken souvlaki wrap and some fries on the side, nice balance of chicken and sauces and a good sense of filling! Loved it! I got the wrap "Opa style" where they stuff fries into the wrap and it was really good. It is a little greasier than I'd prefer but not that bad and I still enjoyed everything! Went for dinner last night with three friends. We've been many times before but last night was bizarre, and not because of anything the restaurant did. We got there very early (5:30) and the place was absolutely packed, and it stayed packed the whole time we were there. The staff was struggling mightily to keep up (they apologized for delays getting drink refills, etc. and said they'd never seen it so busy) and they did a great job considering. The food came out of the kitchen very quickly, especially given the volume they were dealing with. The food quality was excellent. We very much enjoyed the Brizola Hirini, pastitcio and hummus. Our only complaint, and this is a big one, was the noise in the restaurant. Granted, the place was packed, but there are no acoustics whatsoever in this restaurant and they really need to take some noise reduction measures. I've been there before when it wasn't nearly as busy and noise was still an issue. The reason we went at 5:30 was because we had a good friend visiting for the first time since she moved away two years ago and we wanted to be able to talk. If there were ten stars, I'd give them to Opa! This hole-in-the-wall family restaurant serves delicious, healthful food in a clean, welcoming atmosphere. We've been coming here for years, even though it is not close to where we live. During the pandemic, we were out of state caring for an elderly relative. Our first meal after returning in April 2021 was at Opa, and it brought tears to my eyes. The food was the most delicious meal I'd eaten since 2019, before the pandemic, and the owners just looked so tired from dealing with it all as they assembled bag after bag of take-out. We left a tip that was more than the price of our meal. Things are back to normal now, and the chef and wait staff are warm and welcoming. Here are some things to try - the pork chop over lemony Greek potatoes (Brizola Hirini), any salad, the Bronzino, the gyros, the Greek fries (beautiful thin fries, twice-cooked, topped with lemon and feta), souvlaki ... really, try anything. Pair it all with a balanced crisp Greek wine. And then grab a piece of baklava to take home and share. read more

My wife and I popped in here on a whim after a challenging shopping outing to Trader Joe's (is that place EVER not jam-packed?). Greek comfort food is exactly what the doctor ordered. Opa is located in a small storefront in the standard-issue grocery store-anchored strip mall. It's relatively small, but is smartly appointed and bathed in a calming Mediterranean light blue. It's most welcoming. The staff is friendly and accommodating, quick with smiles and answers to whatever query you may have. We started with the Octopus, which was resting in a delicious garlicky olive oil and lemon dressing with just the right amount of oregano. The meat was succulent, tender, perfectly grilled. Amazing. (The only complaint I'll utter about Opa, and it's a minor one, is that for $12 the dish really should have more meat. Since the serving size was (mostly) adequate for two, I'd recommend lowering the price, especially since well-portioned entrees are only a few dollars more.) My wife ordered a salad chock-full of cucumbers, tomatoes, Pepperoncini, sticks of outrageously delicious feta, red onion and capers. She added gyro meat, which comes either as beef and lamb (Chicago style) or pork. She ordered the former and it was superb. Moist and well seasoned, it perfectly complimented the oil and vinegar-dressed salad. Speaking of which, Opa's Greek dressing is one the best either of us has ever tasted. The salad came with a generous side of warm pita which is light, briefly grilled and delicious -- perfect for sopping remaining pools of lovely dressing. I ordered the Pastitsio -- often called "Greek lasagna" -- which was exquisite. The dish, which too frequently comes drenched in runny bechamel, oily ground beef, and overcooked pasta, had a lovely, light touch: a fantastic balance of firm creaminess, just the right touch of nutmeg, and a lemony-tart tomato sauce I could have eaten all on its own. This is an impeccable dish clearly demonstrating Opa's owners pour a lot of love into their food. Very impressive. This is such a great place for some good Mediterranean/Greek food. The decor is all blue and white, accented with gorgeous pictures of Greece. My friends and I shared fries which were seasoned deliciously. I ordered the Chicago gyro, which was tasty, but a bit messy for someone inexperienced eating with their hands, such as myself. The selections were amazing - lamb kabobs, moussaka, and spanakopita - but the warm vibe also made our late lunch a rare treat. I want to give special attention to the authentic preparation also. The lamb seasoning and taste were exactly as I remembered during my last visit to Thessaloniki. And the moussaka - wow, perfect texture, taste, and such generous portions - we were so appreciative, we just wanted more. So we ordered spanakopita to go...only to learn it was the best we have tasted in all of northern Virginia. Seriously, this is not the greasy, cream-and-feta-filled, heavy American "bun" version we see so often in the U.S. This was the real deal and probably how Opa made it originally - light phyllo pastry with generous spinach portions mixed with the perfect slight seasoning. I finished the remainder for breakfast this morning and I am ready for a workout! I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch, dinner, or even a special event. The menu selections are vast, but you'll also be pleasantly surprised by the authentic Greek beer, specialty brandies, and imported drink options. We look forward to our next visit.
