    Cute Cocktail Menu

The restaurant for the Sofitel Hotel in D.C. is the one and only Opaline Bar. They definitely try to make this experience a high end experience. Immediately greeted upon arrival, and walked to the table. They wait until you're seated to place the menus in front of you. Service was decent, they all work together to serve you. Waiter was a little overwhelmed and it was not packed at all. I was celebrating my friend's bday - Aquarius + Pisces - and told the waiter, but he absolutely forgot I said anything. A huge miss! Ambiance - It's a bar with seating - no need to wear your Sunday's finest. Let's get into it! App: Shrimp Cocktail - Just okay, it was still frozen or maybe just too cold. Entrees: Chicken Parmigiana was considered a side but made into an entree. I added pasta! This was sooooo good. I'd come back for this! Salmon - Cooked well - Great! Brussel Sprouts- Underwhelming wouldn't ever order these again. Dessert: Gelatos - Very GOOD! Drinks: Cute drink menu Michelle Obama was delicious! Nancy Regan was great too! Cute concept. Definitely not date night worthy but colleague hour, happy hour, or I'm hungry and everything else around is packed type of place.

Went here for a quick dinner before catching a show. I know it's a French place, but we leaned heavily into the Italian part of the menu. The presentation of the Caesar salad was very unique. I had the four cheese ravioli - it was pretty standard...not bad, but nothing exceptional. My daughter had the Cacio e Pepe and had similar feedback about that dish. I did enjoy the mocktail that our server recommended.

Very tasty breakfast but a bit on the pricey side. The croque madame was delicious and very filling. The service was good and it is a bush restaurant.

I'd love to give a better rating. We walked in and found the bar area was closed for a group. We (a group of 5) didn't want to take a TABLE from patrons.. so we chose to go elsewhere. Overall though, the place looked like somewhere we'd go.

I have been to Opaline multiple times. Maybe 3 to be exact. It's ones of my favorite places to eat. I also love the cocktails. Every single I have come I'm greeted to kindly and seated pretty fast. I even did a staycation at the hotel they are housed in and ordered room service was amazing! But back to the food! Opaline has really good options and the service is always great. It's a quaint, nicely decorated restaurant nestled in Sofitel. The ambiance is actually pretty relaxing. They have not had anything I didn't like there! If you like French cuisine you will enjoy Opaline!

OVERALL: great afternoon tea FOOD: Opaline catered a private sunday afternoon tea. At each table they provided 2-3 3 Tiered trays one with desserts, another with quiches, and another with a mixture of sandwiches and other finger foods. They also provided deviled eggs and constantly refilled our tea. We got a custom chocolate on our table for each guest. SERVICE: Service was great. The team was very efficient and kind. Always diligently coming back with food and tea and checking in as needed. VENUE: the tea room was the Sofitel. The walls were a beautiful blue color and adorned with gold finishes. The venue had long drapes on the windows and it very much felt like a traditional British tea venue. The only thing I noted was that there wasn't enough hangers for us to check in our coats at the entrance.

We thought it was great for breakfast. I can't tell you about lunch or dinner. All I know is that we enjoyed our mornings at Opaline while staying at the Sofitel. The breakfast café is to the right of the doorway as you enter the hotel. It's nicely decorated in the colors of Provence. The yellow mosaic tile pops with the blue paint on the walls. It's very pretty. The windows and view of the outdoor tables make it feel authentic. Service was great! The French Press coffee was the first to arrive. We always look forward to coffee at any Sofitel. It's always an amazing experience. I was told it's a special blend of the Lavazza brand. I'd make it myself, but I don't have the time or patience to use this type of coffee maker. The breakfast menu is limited. Keep in mind that it is a hotel restaurant. The prices are comparable to other 5 star hotel restaurants. You do pay more for something substantial such as the Croque Madame and Opaline Breakfast. We enjoyed both of these breakfast offerings. So much so, that my husband ordered the same Opaline Breakfast 2 days in a row. The Croque Madame was so cheesy and crispy. It's a gruyère lover's dream. I'm still dreaming about it. The egg on top was cooked perfectly as well. The salad looked simple, but it was so tasty and fresh. It's the perfect brunch dish. I couldn't eat it all because it was so rich for an early in the morning meal. With that said, I wish I had ordered it again the next day. The Continental Breakfast was good, but the pastries left a lot to be desired. I did like the fresh butter croissant and the blueberry muffin. The chocolate croissant and pain au raisin were very forgettable. I didn't say anything about it to our server. To be honest, I wasn't as hungry that morning. Would we go back? Absolutely! I haven't had a Croque Monsieur/Madame like this in a very long time. Even the mornay sauce on the sandwich was very good. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It was that wonderful.

The Scarlet Vetter says.....we were in Washington DC walking around and we decided to look for a place to get warm and get a quick bite to eat. This looked inviting.....bright and airy with nice available tables and no one was waiting. The menu seemed to have some good diverse choices. We were seated right away. However, it took 25 minutes for any server to approach our table although many walked by serving other tables. Then another table came and left after 15 minutes of no one approaching them. Finally, we were asked what we wanted to order from the menus. Yet we had no menus in our hands. Big fail. Finally menus arrived. Then someone came to take our order. We ordered the French Onion Soup, a Ceasar salad, a bread basket, an unsweetened iced tea and a diet Pepsi. The server did not write anything down, which should have set off a couple of warning bells. But she whisked herself away in a seemingly industrious manner and so we thought things were looking up. We were now hopeful for at least our drinks to arrive before the next ice age. However many more minutes passed with no drinks. Then our server came back to confirm our drink orders as she forgot what we had ordered. Uh-oh. Finally the drinks arrived. We were 38 minutes into this experience at this point. Drinks finally arrived. 25 minutes later our soup, salad and rolls arrived. The food was delicious, but I wondered if it was made more so by the fact we were so ravenous. The bill arrived with a pre-added 18% gratuity. That was annoying since the word "TIP" is supposed to be short for "To Insure Promptness. One star for this experience!

There aren't many options for 10am breakfast in DC, my family and I realized. However, we were able to find a table at Opaline, which is the restaurant within the Sofitel. As a group we ordered a ton, but our favorites from Breakfast were: Opaline Buttermilk Mini Waffles - the brambleberry compote was just tart enough that made the dish not overly sweet. The mini waffles (comes with 3) was the perfect size, leaving my aunt full! It had a pretty presentation with generous whipped cream on top of the waffles too. The Eggs benedict was delicious. The Canadian bacon was indeed a thick cut, sitting on top the english muffin, and the poached egg on top of that. Everyone who ordered this dish at the table devoured it! Not the favorites: Yogurt Parfait - This dish is served in a shallow bowl, which is a strange presentation. You can't see the yogurt, as the granola covered it entirely. The black cherry puree wasn't that sweet. The bits of dark chocolate seemed out of place. Overall not much sweetness to the parfait, but in general just didn't taste that good. The Vegetable Quiche was $20. The eggs benedict IS worth $19; that's standard price anyway. I don't feel like the quiche lived up to its $20 compared to the eggs benedict dish. Also, the vegetable quiche was not firm. The most liquid-y quiches I've ever had. There are not many vegetables in the quiche, at least from what I tasted. It has many ingredients in the description but I only got like one tiny bite of each ingredient in the entire quiche. Also the serving felt small. I was left still a bit hungry, so thank goodness for the pastry basket... The pastry basket was a good call if the entire table is interested in sharing a few bites. All of it was quite good. The service was good, and the interior is very pretty, and a nice experience for breakfast. Thus I give Opaline's breakfast an overall 4/5

The atmosphere and opaline is absolutely wonderful. It is calm, peaceful. And quiet coming here was like stepping back into time. Being able to sit down with high tea with my partner and enjoy absolutely delectable, pastries, and desserts, and a cup of absolutely delectable tea while talking, and stepping away from the hustle and bustle of life, was absolutely to die for , the staff was wonderful and observing my allergy, and provided me an alternative menu to ensure that I stayed safe and did not have a reaction during my time. There is an absolute must do if you're visiting DC.

I've always wanted to try Opaline DC when visiting Washington, and today I did. And guess what, "I wasn't disappointed". Reservations are probably a good idea for weekends or holidays, but today there wasn't an issue as we got in immediately. The staff were super friendly and very attentive. Breakfast choices included: - freshly squeezed OJ - Eggs Benedict - Smoked Salmon Everything Bagel - Strawberry French Toast - Avocado Toast

I came here for an event and had a good dinner here. The food and drinks were great. I enjoyed the steak and cocktails. The cheesecake dessert was a good way to end the meal. I also liked the ambiance of the restaurant and the chic decor.

We are staying at the hotel where this restaurant is located and it seemed so nice when we checked in earlier that we decided to make a reservation to celebrate my birthday. The place looked different at night, mostly empty and with no ambiance, the staff was not attentive (server and food runner), when asking for recommendations the server said everything is good here (not what you expect when you ask that question since you want an actual idea on whats the best or what they like the most). The food was ok most of it, we ordered the Goat Cheese ravioli which were good but the inside was not even warm. We ordered ice and it was dirty, we told the server and they didn't care much just brought new ice which my daughter had to inspect one by one before using it. Menu has some good options but not a lot of variety. We were honestly going to leave after the first 15 minutes there but unfortunately it was raining a lot so we had to stay. Since it was my birthday my husband asked for a dessert to sing me happy birthday (not complementary) and we had Key Lime Pie, it was OK but too sour and its usually my favorite dessert everywhere. Based on other reviews I think it might be more for breakfast and/or lunch so I would recommend giving it a try then... dinner is just OK and not worth of the high prices.

I originally booked Omakase room by Tadayoshi for August 15th dinner at 5:30. To my shock it turned out Omakase room is closed that day but my reservation was still active and I confirmed it as well the day before. My husband wanted to try this Omakase place for a while and I thought the day was perfect for it. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed and I was taken by surprise as I didn't have any alternative plans or reservations. We first spoke with General manager at Boucherie and she kindly offered us to take a look at the menu and see if we wanted to dine there instead. I was very upset that the planned and anticipated reservation didn't work out. I said yes at first because I didn't know what else to do but we got an amazing server Revo who lightened the mood and Manager Michael was very kind to us and understanding. While dinner started not on a great note, it ended up the best outcome we could have had. Everyone we interacted with was kind and great. I would love to come back again but now specifically for Boucherie and in a much better mood. I totally understand that reservation issue is not Boucherie's responsibility and I still don't know how this all happened. But we hey made our anniversary dinner a fanatic experience. Many thanks to them and also to the sommelier. Wine list was great and we received great recommendations. Thank you, Boucherie team for everything, I was ready to start crying at the omakase room after seeing it was closed but now I will be back specifically for you and the great food. Beef bourgonion was the best I have ever had.

This was such an odd dining experience; I think I had a good time but it was so strange…read more My husband and I happened upon La Grande Boucherie after we were deterred from our original dinner plans. We arrived at 7:45 on a Saturday night to see if there was room for two or at least room at the bar. I wish the hostess had told us that we could wait at the bar for a table to open up, as we saw that's what many other patrons did, but she told us there was bar seating and high tops and so my husband and I went on up. We easily had our choice of two seats at the bar or a high top, and we selected a high top. After 5 minutes of no one acknowledging us, my husband and I told each other we would wait two more minutes before we would bail. Right as we were about to jump ship, a server came by and asked if we wanted menus. We said sure but it was just strange that no one greeted us, it was just "you want menus?" Lol. Another server brought us menus and asked if we would like water and a breadbasket. We said yes and after about 15 minutes, bread arrived. We chatted with the server about what drinks we should order; I ordered a French 75 and my husband ordered a special Sazerac. We also ordered the tuna carpoacio. After about 10 minutes, the server came back and to confirm if I wanted the soft side cocktail and if my husband wanted an old fashioned. We said we did not and corrected him. Then, a server tried to give our drinks to the table next to us and our server corrected him and brought steak tartare. And then he goes "oh wait, did you order this?" We said no and he asked if we wanted it because if not he had to throw it away lol. And then 5 seconds later, the tuna came. Both the tuna carpaccio and the steak tartare were delicious. But this was the entire evening: we ordered something, something else came. I ordered a glass of sparkling rose, and an espresso martini appeared on the house. We had to ask for our bill twice and when we got our bill, it was definitely someone else's. Finally, as we were preparing to go, the original server comes back and goes "here's your espresso martini." Like bro we asked you originally for the check and we are clearly leaving. Luckily, my husband and I had plenty of time before our show, it was a great atmosphere, and the food was super delicious. It was just such a comically bizarre experience and I feel like they are definitely losing money. I think we paid for half of what we ate and drank and probably ate and drank other people's food! Maybe we will go back? Maybe not lol

The food came out pretty quickly; I just wasn't impressed with it. I ordered a happy hour cocktail - the tequila honeysuckle. I should've went with the wine which my companions had and enjoyed, after all it is a wine bar. They offered a DC restaurant week menu even though restaurant week hasn't officially started so that was a nice surprise. For my three courses. I had the tomato and peach salad, the steak frites and the Peach Melba. The fruit seemed to be under ripe, so the tomatoes and peaches in both dishes were very firm and not sweet. In fact, I could barely cut the peach in the Peach Melba with a spoon and so I took two bites of it before I called it quits. The frites were very good. I ordered the steak medium but it was a little overdone, not juicy and underwhelming in flavor. Overall, I enjoyed the visit because it was a great opportunity to catch up with my companions, but if I come again, I think I'll just stick to wine.

The problem with Lutèce is that they don't give a single crap about their customer's experience. We booked a 6 PM table. My friend and I arrived at 5:55, and were seated by 6. The waiter IMMEDIATELY told us we had the table for 2 hours and then had to leave. He then got us water and eventually (10 min in) took our drink orders. He then told us again that we had the table for only 2 hours. Our other friend was 15 minutes late. She arrived, and we looked at the menus. One was the regular menu, and one was a five course tasting. We discussed for ~5 minutes, and then told the waiter we all wanted the tasting menu. His response: "Sorry, it's too late for that now. The kitchen can't do it in the amount of time you have remaining." This for a $125 menu with an $80 wine pairing. We ended up ordering far less food, which was unceremoniously dumped on our table with no regard for coursing in an obvious attempt to hurry us along, and several times wait staff attempted to pick up plates that were clearly still full of food while we were clearly still eating. By the time we received the dessert menu we felt scared to order it, and completely unwelcome. And of course, you guessed it: they automatically add a 20 percent service charge so there's no market correction to their piss-poor service. The attitude at this restaurant is everything wrong with fine dining in general in this day and age, and in DC in particular: You should be so lucky to dine here, you lickspittles. Eat up and get out. Thanks, but no. Never again. You'll find me at the bar at Chloe where they take the time to know your name and never make you feel unwelcome.

Sadly, the bottom patty was pretty soggy from all the sauce and grease, so I had to tackle it with a fork and knife. There was a generous amount of short rib, which was tender and flavorful. I came here for National Oysters Day because I am an oysters lover. I called the day before to make…read moresure it would plenty of oysters & the male hostess confirmed it. I stopped by earlier during the tail end of HH to grab steak tartare & made a reservation for 7pm for my friends & I. I am unsure what the issue was with the female hostess today (likely under pressure from stress), but I do not think it is an excuse to be rude to customers. Additionally, when I returned back for my 7pm reservation, she told me "something happened" in the system & I would have to wait 45 mimutes. I asked was my reservation not in the system already since she rudely insisted that I make a reservation in advance. She said they were at capacity, but she still did not give a clear answer as to why my reservation was not in the system already. So I waited 45 minutes & an additional 5 to be seated. Upon being seated and set to finally place my order, I am being told that the oysters and the frozen cocktail are out for the day, at 8pm.... I had other friends coming far away thinking they would have the oysters & cocktail specials for National Oysters Day; one friend was coming 40 minutes away (from further out MD) & the other coming 26 minutes. Imagine if I wouldn't have contacted them immediately to let them know that the special we wanted ran out. They would have wasted their time coming far away for nothing. I am IMMENSELY & deeply disappointed in the rude service, lack of professionalism, and lack of communication with this establishment. I shouldn't have to wait until I am all seated to find out items ran out, especially for an "All Day" special. I waited an hour for absolutely nothing. I cleared my evening, thinking I would have a great time celebrating National Oysters Day, for nothing. Whole evening gone & time was wasted, left on an empty stomach. I will likely not return again and do not recommend others to come. This is my first time & absolutely last time.
