It was time for Oktoberfest visit to Walburg. The restaurant is my favorite German food in the whole Austin area and I needed my schnitzel fix! The ambiance is definitely old world which brings back memories from my childhood. The servers are super friendly and I see several of the same ones every time. I love the pork schnitzel along with the red cabbage and spaetzle. Always consistently yummy. I particularly enjoyed the entertainment both inside the restaurant and outside in the Biergarten tent. Along with the Hacher Schorr marzen, 'a great time was had by all.' Absolutely a repeater for me!

Best beer ever is the Dunkel.

I had a great schnitzel sandwich along with the Dunkel beer. Both were fantastic and the service was personal and efficient. I'll be back to try more of their menu items I'm sure. I spent a couple of years in Deutschland and really appreciated the decor. Highly recommended!

We stopped by on a recent Saturday and we pretty much had the beer hall to ourselves. We are not buffet people so we were not disappointed that the highly rated buffet was not available until dinner time. If you appreciate authentic German food and beer then take the ride to Walburg. Throughout our visit service was fabulous and our server answered all our questions. Their Octoberfest beer was not available (coming soon) but there are plenty of additional German brews for you to choose. Yes, they have some traditional beers and wine options as well. We just ordered a few Apps. The Bretzel with cheese sauce and mustard was a great accompaniment to our brews. I really enjoyed the Schweizer Wurstsalat. This is a cold dish with thinly sliced marinated knockwurst with Swiss cheese, onions, and fresh bread. An interesting dish that I would order again. We plan to visit again once the weather cools so we can enjoy their beer garden and Wienerschnitzel.

Cherry Black Forest Cake (I think...they were out of German Chocolate).

A bit of a drive from Austin, but a nice place. Great vibe, friendly service, and delicious food. Don't skip the red sauerkraut! The live music band started 30min late, but that's okay. Made it easier to chat and catchup with friends before the music played. Lots of tables and lots of space to hold lots of people.

Walburg German Restaurant is a very unique spot with a great setup. It has a Biergarten with a large tent, 2 stages for live entertainment (one inside and one outside), a picnic area, an outdoor bar and kitchen, and even an arcade for the kids. We accidentally came during their Oktoberfest celebration, and while they were clearly understaffed, I won't deduct any points for that--everyone was working hard to keep up with the huge crowd. We checked in and then explored the property while waiting for our table. We grabbed some German draft beers at the outdoor Biergarten and checked out the arcade. By the time we finished, our table was ready. Once seated, we had the option to order from the menu or go for the buffet. The buffet looked decent for the price, but we decided to order off the menu. My wife ordered the Pork Jägerschnitzel, and I went with the Sausage Plate. The food was hit or miss: The Jägerschnitzel was a bit of a letdown compared to others we've tried--the breading resembled a tempura batter instead of the crispy golden brown we were expecting. As for the spätzle, it was our first time trying it, and it tasted like cold fat noodles. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be, but it wasn't for us. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the Sausage Plate. Everything on it was delicious, though I was surprised it came with no mustard. I had to track someone down to get some, and it made a huge difference! The **potato salad and sauerkraut were also great. We had another round of beers while listening to live Polka music, which added to the festive atmosphere. The outdoor band was fantastic, and we would have loved to stay longer if we hadn't been pressed for time. The arcade had AC, which was a nice break from the heat, though the games were mostly older, typical arcade options. Overall, we enjoyed the festival vibe, and we'll definitely be back during cooler weather to spend more time in the Biergarten and try other menu items. Hopefully, the service and food experience will improve next time!

Walburg German Restaurant is a must go to place to eat when traveling through Central Texas. Located about 5 miles off IH-35 at exit 287, in Walburg, TX, the town with a population around 250 is quiet and cozy. The restaurant boasts a very SIMPLE food menu and robust beer and wine menu to choose from. Make to stop by for great food and authentic German scenery.

Basics like sushi rice and fish quality was sub par per price expectations. Dishes were bland and lacked flavor. The service was great and very attentive as a bright spot. Typically i give marginal scores another try but i don't think i will in case due to the basics being done so poorly.

Nevertheless, it does taste good imo! Something that kinda sucks is how expensive it's become; my family has been coming here from time to time for about 20 years and it's at the point where getting a couple to-go containers ($12 per pound on weekends/dinner time) will end up costing you $60 or more depending on how much food you add. It's not more than if you went to a sit down restaurant really, but it's still just... pricey. It used to be less for sure, but price increases are ubiquitous these days. Overall it gets the job done when you're having Asian food cravings and are very hungry!

This place has signs saying they're celebrating their 25th anniversary and it shows. In fact, it's so rundown inside, you would think it opened in the 1980s. Their selection is decent and they do have a couple types of fresh meat grilled in front of you, the short ribs and the korean beef squares. Their fresh green beans aren't bad either. Try the raw blue crab legs if you dare. I did try some of the sushi since I needed to eat light due to a second dinner on my most recent visit. Most of their rolls are made with fake crab pieces or fake crab mix with various toppings across the top of the cut roll. There were like 2 with actual raw fish, one was a spicy tuna roll and the other had either salmon or tuna across the top. None of the sushi is very good quality, as you typically see at buffets. Their desserts are nothing to write home about either. Their sesame balls aren't bad. We had 14 in our group so we ended up getting seated in their very back room which is not very appealing and has no windows. Service is average at best for a buffet restaurant. You can tell some of the employees don't actually want to be there. Overall, this is in a fairly popular area for shopping, so I can see why it stays busy and has been in business for a long time.

I'm not expecting outstanding quality food, but there's still a bar. I'll start off with the best items - frog legs, fried rice, and the french fries (yes, I know). Most other items were alright or below average for a Chinese buffet. One of the main concerns that I have is just that a lot of the food appears to have been sitting at the buffet tables for quite some time. I think some items were never touched, let alone refilled, from when we first came in and then left. So it's hard to really tell what is "fresh". Many of the items are mislabeled which can be annoying. Most of the silverware is also dirty, even the ones that you get when you are first seated. Speaking of seats, the seats at the booth we were at were sticky. We moved to a table. Those seats were sticky as well. Service is a bright spot for this restaurant. Wait staff was very attentive and nice. I wish I could provide a better rating. Though if given the opportunity to visit again, I would politely decline.
