The Groupon I purchased was for an eye exam, single-vision polycarbonate lenses, and 50% off frames. But, basically the Groupon was worth $200. The exam was like $60, then for my prescription, it was recommended that I have anti-reflectant and some type of special lense, that was like $80 together, then the rest of the Groupon went towards the frame, then I paid about $85 out of pocket for the remainder of the frame (the cheapest frame was ~$150). Not too, too bad considering I got my glasses the same visit. I think that's the only thing that really made it worth it. I waited about 30 mins which was a nice surprise, as it usually takes a week or two to get them mailed or ready to pick up. If you're looking for a cheaper, cheaper option, I'd say just pay to get an eye exam and then buy your frames online from like Zenni or something. That way, you might even get 2 pairs of glasses for the $85 I paid today, instead of 1 pair. But, if you do that option you're going to have to YouTube how to find the Pupillary Distance (PD) that online frames retailer ask you for that's not on the exam ticket. I had to do that one year; it's easy, don't worry! You just need a ruler and an erasable marker. Overall, the visit was nice. Everything went smoothly. It was easy to make an appointment online via Groupon, and they called to leave appointment reminders (I need because my memory is bleh)! The woman who checked me in and did the machine testing for me was very welcoming and sweet. She helped me picked out frames that best fit my face! And the doctor that did my exam and was very thorough and polite. So, the customer service was great! I give it a 4 star instead of 5 because I really would've loved to see more affordable frames. If I can get 2 pairs of frames online from Zenni, why can't I at the eye doctors? I'm supposed to get my eyes checked yearly due to health issues. So, will I come here again...? Ken was fantastic he made it a really positive experience. After getting a chance to talk with him I felt at ease and thought he was great. It definitely showed that he is a true expert in the field and I felt really well taken care of. He under promised and over delivered which I always appreciate. He couldn't make my glasses same day because mine were a bit of a special order because of my astigmatism, but they were basically ready next day. I called beforehand to make an appointment and to ask if a Groupon would cover what I needed, which was just an eye exam that was a follow up for my lasik. The employee told me it was not a problem. Once I arrived they had me fill out paperwork, started checking my eyes, then told me I'd have to pay more money for just an eye exam. I explained that I had called in previously, to no avail. I explained calmly that I thought since I was told the Groupon would cover it and I drove 40 minutes to get here, that I thought they should honor the Groupon. They refused. I will not be back and will let everyone know about my experience here. To top all of this off, after i posted this review on another site the owner replied to claim that I had lied about all of this, and went on further to claim that I had told them I needed eyewear as well. The ridiculous thing about this LIE they decided to tell was that the entire reason I called them BEFORE purchasing the groupon was because I wanted to make sure that if I was not purchasing eyewear it would still be honored. Moved to Sun City almost 5 years ago and in that time I have tried and left two different optometrists due to poor service and unprofessional front office staff. I had stumbled upon Ken and staff at Optical Experts while leaving from a doctor's appointment across the courtyard from them. I didn't bother reading any Yelp reviews on them until I decided to write this one. If I had, I may not have persued an appointment with them and would still be trying to find an office worthy of my business. To be honest, the one star negative reviews all look like they are centered around some confusion with the Groupon and perhaps the reviewers were disgruntled due to that confusion. In my experience, Ken and staff were extremely professional and friendly. My eye exam was probably the most thorough eye exam I ever had and afterwards I had fun picking out new frames. Glasses were ordered and I was notified in record breaking time they were ready for pickup. From making the appointment to picking up my new glasses, my experience was nothing but positive. I'd give it a 5+++ I recommended this office to my husband and he was equally pleased with the expereince as were a few long time family friends who went there. Like others, I purchased the $39 groupon deal which included an eye exam, frames, and lenses. Because I know my prescription is both heavy Rx and requires a progressive lens, I called to verify what would be included, and how much the extras would be. So I walked in knowing my extras would total less than $200. I got a quick but thorough exam without dilation. I refused that service because my ophthalmologist does it for me. When it came time to choose frames, a technician seated me and insisted on bringing frames to me. She was a sweet older lady but it quickly became clear that her taste and mine were not in sync. I used words like hip, chic, funky and modern, but she brought boring, blah and grandma. Because the deal I purchased required I purchase everything that day, I eventually settled on a frame (which I hate) and went for the necessary upgrades. However, the cost for the lenses and anti glare was more than twice what I had been quoted. I desperately needed new glasses, so I went forward after she explained that I misunderstood the deal. No, I didn't. I had notes. When I picked up my glasses a couple weeks later, I was astounded at how heavy they felt. Yes, the lenses were about the same thickness as my older glasses, but the weight makes them truly unpleasant to wear. My vision with them is fine, but I hate how frumpy they make me look. I had to argue a bit to get a copy of my prescription. Given my disappointment, I would never go back to Optical Experts. Quality eye care isn't cheap, and anyone purchasing a deal needs to realize they're not going to get a bargain here. read more

Went in on the Groupon ($39 for $200 worth of goods/services, which was clearly stated on the Groupon site, R.I.F.) and was warmly greeted, shown every courtesy, allowed free reign of my browsing and frame choice (though the ladies both shared their opinions, I felt no need to listen to or accept their advice.) I was allowed to fiddle with the knobs on the machine so I really got the best vision option, and paid $109 out of pocket for the extras I wanted/needed, AND picked up my new glasses the same day. Great deal, great service, great experience. Worth the drive, I'd do it again and would recommend this place to anyone with simple eyewear needs. I read all the other (negative) reviews and all I'm getting from them is "I'm angry because I didn't understand how Groupon works!" so if you're prone to not comprehending what you read maybe get someone to explain it to you next time. read more

I came in on a Groupon- a savings for a $200 value. I needed to save all I can since I am on a limited budget. I had a great experience here, I wasn't sold on anything extra they were very accommodating with my budget and explained to me in detail everything I am paying for. I am beyond appreciative of the facility, and was impressed with the cleanliness. The office is small and cozy, very personable. The doctor was very nice. Staff was helpful and very courteous to me arriving 30mins before my appointment. I cannot wait to get my glasses. My suggestion to reading these other "deal" purchasers, if you already have glasses/contacts and have a pretty basic idea of what you are supposed to be getting, you honestly shouldn't be too surprised that you will have to pay a little bit extra for what your eyes need. I really doubt any deal out there will include EVERYTHING because everyone is different. The groupons/living socials/amazon local deals are NOT on there for FREE EVERYTHING. Be appreciative you are able to get the basics for a great deal, they are on there to attract new business and allow people to experience a new facility. I know that I need a "hi index" lens, so I know I always have to pay extra for that. So the doctor recommending the same thing I've been told every time I go means he was doing his job. I recently went because of a groupon, and oh, man---all they care about it up-selling and making you feel guilty if you don't. It's sad cuz the doc is like that, too. I only came here bc I'm 26 and off my parents insurance, but I will be going back to my place of 15 years as soon as my new insurance kicks in. Don't do what I did and try to get by buying a groupon from them to help you while you get your insurance. I have to say I am so disappointed in this office. I have brought my family here for 7 years and spent my money on many pair of glasses and exams. I need a new pair of glasses and since I'm immune compromised I can not leave my house due to the WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC. I called and Ken refuses to give me my prescription due to it being over a year old. I am a grown woman and I know I don't need a prescription change. I just need new glasses. Since I knew the glasses were overpriced, I declined. Guess what ... I had to pay an additional $60 for the eye exam. I feel very ripped off. Update: 6/28/17 I took the prescription from Optical Experts to Costco to have reasonably priced glasses made. Do NOT go here. It is nothing but a major scam!! But a deal through Amazon for $39.00 it was for the eye exam and $218.00 towards frames and glasses. How ever when I got there and was told that it only covered the eye exam and the lenses NOTHING else!! The lenses them self were almost $300.00. Since I did not have enough to pay for frames and the difference in the lenses a total of $390.00 I had to pay for the eye exam $90.00 for nothing but a eye exam. I have NEVER been treated as poorly as here. Heed my warning, DO NOT GO HERE! I had my first appointment here and was using a deal that I got on Living Social ($35 for $278 to Spend Toward an Eye Exam + Glasses. I got the hard sale and the inflated prices, but i went ahead and ordered my glasses and paid the difference of $338. I called back the next day to add Transitions to my lenses, told that is wouldn't be a problem. Well, I got a call a week and a half later telling me that they were in. Great, I'll drive a half an hour to have them open up the case and tell me the lens is cracked. They claimed they were fine when they were checked upon arrival. (DOUBTFUL!) So I said i didn't want to replace the lens if these glasses were so delicate they couldn't even sit in their case without breaking. I said the only way I would take this pair of glasses, even with a supposedly new lens was if i could get a warranty in writing. No dice! I was told to trust him and his word would be honored. YEAH RIGHT! The other option I was told i could pick out a new frame and they would make new lenses. I went outside for 5 minutes to confer on what i wanted to do. When I returned with my decision to just get a whole new frame and all, I was told that they weren't going to do that for me. Telling me that i had to accept what they were willing to offer cuz they weren't going to spend any more money on this! EXCUSE ME! I paid for a proper pair of NEW glasses and you are telling me I am not getting that? I started telling him (Ken, the owner) that i was not going to accept a sub standard repair or a pair of glasses that broke while sitting in a box. his reply to that was astounding! This man started YELLING as me as if I was a grammar school child. His exact words were "YOU ARE GONNA SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME" My response was standing up telling him i was CALLING THE POLICE, walking out the door and calling my partner in disbelief of what was happening. After a few moments this "business person" came outside throwing a check and a copy of my prescription at me and screaming that I could "JUST GO NOW". BAD REVIEWS ARE POSTED FOR A REASON! I called today to ask if they would be willing to do an eye exam on my son who has Asperger's syndrome. I explained that I wanted to purchase the Groupon and just do the exam and that he has glasses and frames still under warranty from Costco and that we would go there for the new lenses in his current frames (that he loves because they are Spy and he loves that brand) if required. This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with ANY business in my entire life!! My husband and I bought 2 groupons and I completely understand that if I want the nicer lenses, frames, etc that will be an extra charge, no problem. Well, we were not happy with the choice of frames so my husband wanted to use his current frames. Not only were they going to charge us a fee to use our own frames, they were going to take $80 off of our groupon credit!!! Awful experience. Worst Groupon purchase I have ever made! Had originally scheduled a appointment that I had to cancel. I noticed on my groupon account that it said redeemed, so I called to see what was up, the receptionist proceeded to call me a liar about ever cancelling my appointment to begin with and said he was the only one to answer the phones there and I never called to cancel. I felt attacked and caught off guard. Maybe I didn't cancel, I had so many appointments and so much had been going on, so I apologized. But, even if I was mistaken it was completely unprofessional. Then he told me he would give me one more chance for apt, without a option to reschedule, I wasn't thrilled about this but I didn't want to wash my money down the drain so I rescheduled. I wish I hadn't. When I came in for my appointment I was totally creeped out by the optometrist, something about him rubbed me the wrong way. After my exam was done I picked the most basic frames I could, in a hurry to get out. The staff proceeded to try to up sell my frames. While the guy that was getting me set up was doing his thing a couple that came in before me were checking out, they too were getting the hard sales pitch by what seemed to be a new staff member. After that couple left the receptionist called that new person to a back room where he proceeded to scold her about not making the sale. I would never go back here, this would and could be a great deal if it wasn't for the entire staff. The receptionist was absolutely the worst person I have ever dealt with in a professional situation such as this. Found these guys on groupon and I'm so glad I did. It was a little bit of a drive but I didn't mind. My appointment was quick and I was able to find a pair of glasses that I really liked. The optician was knowledgeable and recommended several items to provide the best possible vision. That's what I wanted---the best possible vision, not the cheapest.
