I placed an order with OpticsPlanet and attempted to cancel it approximately 10 minutes later. I clicked the cancellation option on their website, emailed them requesting cancellation, and called customer service. Despite making multiple attempts to cancel almost immediately after placing the order, OpticsPlanet shipped it anyway. The customer service experience made an already frustrating situation significantly worse. I spent over an hour on hold trying to resolve this. When I finally reached a representative, I told her I had been waiting for over an hour. Rather than apologizing for the ridiculous wait, she actually corrected me and said, "It's only been 45 minutes." Seriously? First, I had been on hold for over an hour. Second, even if it had been "only" 45 minutes, that's an absurd response to a customer who has been waiting that long to fix a problem he tried to prevent approximately 10 minutes after placing the order. They ultimately told me the order couldn't be canceled because it had already shipped. They provided a prepaid return label and told me I would receive a refund after they receive the item back. My issue isn't that OpticsPlanet won't accept the return. My issue is that I tried to cancel this order almost immediately through three separate channels, and their process still couldn't stop the shipment. Now I have to receive an item I didn't want shipped, return it, wait for them to receive it, and then wait for my money to be refunded. A cancellation submitted approximately 10 minutes after an order is placed should not turn into this kind of ordeal. Add an hour-plus customer service hold and a representative arguing with me about how long I'd been waiting instead of acknowledging the problem, and this was easily one of the worst online retail experiences I've had. Ordered and received an Archangel stock for Ruger 10/22. The hard plastic, previously sealed package had been cut open, both installation parts and instructions were missing. It was the obviously a return. I then looked into returning the stock but discovered their so-called full return policy did not include shipping the stock back ($7.99). Plus, this shipping charge is not disclosed until a deep dive is made into the return policy. The website states how easy it is to return an item for a refund but nothing about return shipping charges. Well, I must be the idiot because I ordered from them and then I did my homework on them after the fact. And every complaint every post that I have seen is that they are horrible and there is no communication with the company, including customer service and the product is typically not shipped. I ordered a magazine filler three days ago, and I noticed an email that there was an exception to my order saying that it was not being delivered yet and I needed to contact them. I did so and I left multiple voicemails. I sat on the phone for hours and then allowed them to contact me to keep my place in the queue, but nothing. Chat does nothing. I opened up a case with my bank to get a refund because I doubt I will ever hear from them. UPS says that it has never been dropped off. read more

Each message included a detailed explanation of the issue and a direct request for either a refund or a replacement unit. Despite these efforts, I have received no resolution. On July 31, I explicitly requested confirmation within 24 hours as to whether the third light would be shipped or refunded. I also expressed concern over the accusatory tone in one of the responses, which suggested I may be misrepresenting the situation - despite the clear photographic evidence and my long-standing purchase history. I ordered a flashlight on Aug 31, 2024, for $125.99. Opticsplanet.com said that it would ship in 13-22 days. After not receiving it and following up monthly until March 2025, I finally took a CSR's recommendation to switch to a different color of the same flashlight. It shipped on April 21, 2025. Because the color was changed, they billed me $175.99. I think that this is partially on me, because I didn't clarify that they were going to honor the original price. I spoke to a CSR today and they refunded me $10 (which is better than nothing, but $40 less than I would have liked). I found Optics Planet through a highly skilled firearm's expert, although this is a distributor and not a manufacturer they completely understand quality optics and a host of other products and their customer service is exceptional starting with the accurate description of their products and the way communicate throughout the entire process including after the sale. I was looking for a quality "green dot" sight I know most want the "red dot" sights and although the later seems to be the most popular I easily justified my preference based on my application. I chose the Holosun Elite Micro 1x20mm, 2MOA Dot / 65 MOA Circle Green Dot Sight although there are many options on the market the frequency of and price was definitely a part of my decision tree. This giant retailer has a lot of inventory which mean fast shipping and it's free as are returns if you miss. I am extremely happy with my purchase and have my eye on a number of other products after exploring their online store. Just in case you're wondering why I chose green vs red: Due to the wavelength of the color green, green dot sights can get far brighter with less effort than their red counterparts. As humans, our eyes will also notice green easier than red, making it seem even more luminous than it is. The light waves from a green dot sight will not flood your eye's cones like those from a red dot, and as such will distort significantly less than a red dot sight. If you worry about the strain on your eyes, a green dot sight might be the right option for your gun too. Green Dot Sight are a little more expensive but for the price I felt was justified, I'll actually get more visibility than if I spent the same price or more for a red dot sight, so in my opinion the value-added benefits made this an easy choice... read more

I then had to chase your customer service multiple times, and each time I was brushed off and told to "wait for the email." After repeated follow-ups, you finally sent ONE code instead of four -- which is already unacceptable. To make it worse, when I tried to use that single code, Rise Armament informed me the code was ALREADY USED and completely invalid. The product I received was not what was advertised. I ordered an OD green plate carrier that was pictured with black shoulder straps and a darker shade of green. What arrived was a different shade of OD green entirely, and the straps that were supposed to be black were actually green. This was misleading from the start. The return process was an absolute nightmare. It took multiple conversations with customer service to even get close to resolving the issue. Despite my repeated confirmations that I wanted a refund, not a store credit, OpticsPlanet still issued a store credit. It was only after further follow-up and frustration that they finally agreed to process a refund correctly. On top of that, I was initially told I would be charged both shipping and restocking fees for returning an item that was not my fault in the first place. I had to argue my case and convince them to waive those fees, which should have been automatic under the circumstances. As a combat veteran, a first responder, and someone who orders equipment for a large-scale federal organization, I expect better service and accountability from a company that advertises itself as a reliable supplier of tactical equipment. Unfortunately, OpticsPlanet failed on multiple levels--from accuracy of product listings to basic customer service. My recommendation: take your business elsewhere. Don't use, they may not ship to the address you put in your account and instead ship whenever they feel like and blame you for their glitchy system. I have used optics planet over 10 times. My last purchase was shipped to an address from 7 years ago even though they had my current address listed as my default address. My last 8 purchase before this one were shipped to my correct current address I've been at for several years. They blamed my bank for giving them a different address. They had my correct billing address in their system, (you know, the one the BANK has). I checked my bank account, they don't even have that address as an old address, they only have my current address in their system. Things happen, the glitches are a thing, but this was so clear and they are refusing to fix it. They want me to go to my old house and ask someone I don't know if my parts arrived and if I can have them. I'm super uncomfortable with that especially with the nature of their products. I just spent a significant amount of time on the phone with a professional and empathetic customer service rep who seemed to genuinely be trying to help for her to tell me her manager was refusing to fix the situation by either shipping me my parts or refunding my money. I would highly advise against using them, their system is very messed up and if you put in your address they may ship it elsewhere without notice and refuse to do anything about it. I double and triple checked, this was them, not me. I have a recording of the end of the call for my credit card dispute so I can show the bank they are literally blaming you. I am curious what they will tell the bank as I'm sure "it was your fault" isn't going to work with them. Things happen, it's what you do when you make a mistake that matters and they do the wrong thing. I can't even imagine if you had a more nuanced situation, this is simple, clear, and verifiable. I couldn't recommend Larue enough and the 6.5 Creedmoor Upper is absolutely as accurate as all Larue products. However Optics planet shipped me a 7.62 upper instead of 6.5. I return it and I was told I might have to pay a restocking fee due to not having the original package. I wasn't charged that fee but I had emailed them saying I refused to be charged due to their error. They ship me out a second upper again it was a 7.62 instead of a 6.5. I returned this second upper with their return label and finally get my second refund only to notice that they charged me 76.59 in shipping charges. Why on earth would I pay shipping on a product you sent me 2 times in a row that was not what I ordered. I have an email to them telling them to refund the shipping charges immediately or I will dispute this on my credit car. Absolutely horrible experience dealing with them. I needed an optic for my duty weapon, they shipped the wrong one so I had to drive 20 miles to the nearest ups for the return, then they shipped 2 of the right one and double charged my card. Another 20 mile trip each way. Finally after several calls 8p miles round trip and over a month it was finally right. Oh yeah and $6 for labels. Placed an order on February 5th and it was shipped on February 9th via UPS ground saver. UPS transferred it to a Post Office hub who sent it to the wrong local Post Office. They returned it to Optics Planet on February 17th. I had once successful contact with a customer service rep at Optics Planet who said it would be re-shipped via UPS Ground so to as avoid the Post Office. No contact since the 17th and none of my numerous attempts to reach a person have been successful and none of my messages have been returned. Their AI assisted voice mail is useless and I must assume all their real "Customer Care Representatives" (if there are any) don't bother returning any calls. I recently placed an order on Optics Planet and selected next day delivery, paying the extra $150 for shipping. I did this because I needed the parts before leaving, which was scheduled for 4 days later. When the second day had passed and they still had not shipped any part of my order I called them and determined that there was no way that my order would be delivered in time and asked them to cancel the order, IT HAD NOT SHIPPED YET, and was told that they would try but it may not be possible. All they had to do was pick up the phone and call the warehouse and say cancel, but they were too wrapped up in their faulty computer programs. They went ahead and shipped the order and then it was delayed. I called them and explained that they needed to recall the order and had to argue with them, since their shipping department had locked those options in UPS and I couldn't make any changes. They finally recalled the order. The total for the order was $900, it took them a week after it was returned to them and then they refunded me $890. It's not worth my time to spend an hour on the phone for $10. I placed the same order from Midway USA and it was delivered on time to my travel location, I had the parts 1 day later. I wanted to like Optics Planet, and if I had unlimited time and just didn't care when my order was delivered they may be okay, but their customer service is broken, I won't be ordering from them again. read more
