I had two really bad experiences and I eventually decided not to go to this dental office anymore. I definitely don't recommend this place because they are not transparent with fees and dental care is not their priority, they mostly care about dental cosmetics! I don't trust them and don't recommend them! 1. Once while I was doing my dental exam, the dentist offered to smoothen my front teeth and I said sure since I had tiny rough edges due to grinding. The process took about 5 minutes, no numbing involved, it was basically like using a nail file to smooth your nails (but for teeth). When I got the bill it was $1000 and since it was cosmetics insurance didn't cover! I called them and asked why they didn't tell me how much it would cost and they said they'll do that next time!! 2. Their dentists left frequently so I never had continuity with anyone. The last time I was there I was schedule for a filling, but there were no dentists! Dr. Jones removed the decay and then left and a hygenist came to do the filling! I asked Dr Jones to finish the work and she said she hasn't done fillings in a while, she mostly does cosmetic work now so I was better off having the hygenist fill my teeth! I had no choice so I let that happen and then decided to never go back! Based on my experience the goal of this dental practice is not to provide best dental care for you, it is to find ways to rip you off! read more

The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because of its convenient location in Downtown Bellevue. Service is mediocre at best. I was told they spend 20 mins on regular cleanings and because mine took longer than that, I had a copayment. They upsell you on EVERYTHING. They tried to sell me laughing gas and fluoride. during a cleaning. They upsold me on a "Deep Cleaning" when it was just a regular cleaning. They tried to sell me another x-ray when they did one 5 months ago. Stay away! read more

My recent visit to this place for dental cleaning was the worst experience I have ever had. I had made a call appointment for a basic cleaning, which my insurance covers 100%. However, upon completing my cleaning today, I was informed that it was a periodontal cleaning and was charged $85 besides insurance paying. I had no prior knowledge of this additional service and charge until they suddenly told me I needed to pay at the end. To make matters even worse, as I attempted to clarify the details of the cleaning and charges, one of the front desk attendants who processed my payment was extremely impolite. The attendant refused to provide detailed explanation and repeatedly interrupted me, making it difficult for me to comprehend the situation. Furthermore, the attendant even urged me to vacate the treatment room very rudely. (two attendants were there, the other attendant was kind instead). these guys are horrible!!! i've worked in the dental industry for years and this is the worst care i've ever received. i had to go back three times for adjustments and they never did it correct! i just went to a new dds and they fixed it all but not after my tooth was chipped and needed crown because of their poor work. I cost more than three years to finish only one year Invisalign there. They repeatedly made problems of my aligners, like it could not fit my teeth, or the aligners left half of my molar teeth outside, or they lost my wax model. There were not only one time they forgot my appointment or the time I should've come and pick up the aligners. Since it was my first time of Invisalign, I didn't know how the teeth space should be aligned that they claimed my teeth were all "perfectly" adjusted. But it ends with most of my teeth are too far away from each other that my gum meets pain most of time after chewing. Optimal Denys Spa complained it's one side of wisdom teeth affect my gum. So I went to meet the surgeon and did consultation but the dental surgeon confirmed my wisdom teeth has nothing to do with my gum problem at all. So now, my current new dentist gave me two options of the teeth pain, redo the Invisalign or refill the space between molar teeth. This place just looks decent, but does a messy work. And btw, they even didn't remove the cleats completely from my teeth that I only got known when doing the cleaning at another place. I wish my update was more positive. I've been coming to Optima for almost 4 years and over the past year I've had some very frustrating scheduling issues. The dental hygienists and dentists are great, always super personable and efficient, it's just the scheduling that has been disappointing. When I booked my cleaning six months ago, I had to go back and forth with the front desk three times because I rescheduled my appointment but nobody recorded it in the system. I continued to receive automated texts and phone calls reminding me of my previous appointment, and i had to call multiple times to ensure i was booked correctly. Then, I came in a few months ago to have new retainers made and the dental hygienist had no idea why I was here. I guess nobody told him? And finally, I came in this week for another cleaning and had the same scheduling issue. The receptionist called ME asking if I wanted to come in a few days early, which I did, so we rebooked my appointment. Or so I thought. I got a text the next day reminding me of my upcoming appointment but the time was wrong. So I had to call back again and thankfully they were able to fit me in at the original time but the hassle is really getting old for me. read more

This used to be my favorite place to go when it came to dental care. The staffs were lovely and detail oriented. Few months back I had an appointment at 5 pm but when I showed up I was told to wait for 15 mins because the hygienist was finishing up. At 5:40 I was offered to either reschedule or wait so I waited because I didn't want to sit in Bellevue traffic. Then 6pm, nobody was available for teeth cleaning. I then canceled all my my appointments. Few weeks ago I got a call asking why I canceled my future cleaning. I thought I would be told something nice so I could come back since I'd been coming here for 2 years. I told the caller that I wasn't happy the last time I was at the office. The lady's response was "okay" then she hung up :( I don't know what changed recently at the office but customer service at the front desk deserves 0 star. Sadly I can't recommend anymore. Went in for a checkup, was told I had a single cavity and when it's fixed would have to have a crown put on. I didn't think too much of it, nothing I could do etc etc. I delayed for a few months mulling over it then gave in and had the procedure done. Less than a year later found out I had a crack in the same tooth below the gum line and an infection. Had to have the entire tooth removed and replaced with an implant. Up to now I can't seem to figure out how the tooth became cracked in the area it was in. Possible trauma was mentioned but I have no recollection within such a small window of time of any significant traumatic event. And it's too coincidental that it just happened to be the one tooth in my mouth I had worked on. Honestly, my advice is to go somewhere else. This place is my real life nightmare. read more

A lot of the recent reviews here are negative. That isn't a coincidence. I wish I'd checked those before deciding to use this place. In the last 10-15 years or so, I've only given 2 other businesses a one star review. That should be a pretty good indication of how I feel about this place. Regardless, here are some issues I faced with this place. * In my 5 visits here I saw 5 different dentists. Never saw the same dentist again. Pretty strange, and not sure why this place is a revolving door of dentists * there is a lot of loud chatting, in general, which is a bit unprofessional IMO. * on one occasion the dentist and the dental aide were constantly chatting and flirting with each other while performing a procedure and hovering over me. Also trying to talk to me while I had instruments in my mouth and my face was completely numb from anesthesia. Super bizarre and completely unprofessional. * I've been to this practice 5 or more times in 6 months. Which is way too often. Either my teeth have go way worse, or they're just trying to bill my insurance for stuff I don't need. Plus I don't have the time to keep coming here every 2 weeks. Support staff seems ok, but overall this practice is grossly mismanaged. read more

Optima took over my old dentist's office in downtown Seattle -- and went in for my first cleaning in about a year due to COVID. Was really looking forward to the cleaning as I am a dutiful every-6-months-without-fail get a cleaning kind of person. The staff was entirely new, and the hygienist who sat down with me started to do a placque check that was extraordinarily rough and heavy-handed -- one of the most painful experiences I've had in terms of jabbing and prodding at a dentist's office, ever. I am not sure if this was from inexperience or simply not caring, but my mouth literally hurt for days afterwards, and it chipped off an old filling I had. My gums were in pretty bad shape after this brutal exam, and the hygienist had the audacity to tell me that my gums were bleeding really badly, was I flossing enough and taking care of my teeth? Maybe if you weren't so violently aggressive, they wouldn't be bleeding so badly? So the dentist comes in and after a brusque intro, says my gums are in rough shape and recommends me to come back for two successive treatments to clean placque under the gum, some of which would put me under anesthesia, and not fully covered by insurance. I asked could I at least get a cleaning, as that was what I was in for -- and they told me no, they didn't have enough time for me to do that, and would need to reschedule as well, which would have risked me paying out of pocket for the number of visits I am allocated as well. I specifically booked the time for a cleaning, and they refused to do it. The dentist also pointed out that I may have a cavity and needed to schedule something to get a filling there too. Was really put off by the approach and the complete failure of customer care -- it seemed to me they were just focused on billing as much as they could from customers without taking true care of patients or addressing their needs. I found another dentist more local to my home, and on my first visit, specifically asked them to check under the gums for the amount of placque and if there was anything concerning, or if I had any cavities. Guess what -- both the hygienist (who was incredibly gentle yet thorough, something Optima needs to learn) and the dentist (a professional with 30+ years under his belt) said there was no concern and no need for anything but vigilant brushing and flossing and cleaning visits. And no cavity. Highly do not recommend Optima, who seem to sadly be focused not on their patients or their well-being, but on the $$$. read more

The degree to which the service here has degraded over the years is crazy. When I first joined (around 2014), Lynn Jones' staff made me feel so comfortable after I'd had years of anxiety over dental visits. Dr. Ilya, who was on the staff back then, is still my favorite dentist that I've ever turned to, and I'm so sad he's no longer there. A couple years later, there were some major changes made in staffing, and everything has been downhill since. I had one dentist browbeat me into getting five fillings, which was odd, considering none of the previous dentists had pointed out the issue (and I had been seen by Lynn herself a couple of times), but at the time I still had such confidence in the office that I went with it. The same dentist saw my husband and installed a crown that literally cracked under two years in, and the office tried to get him to pay for a new crown with no acknowledgement of the fact that it's pretty unheard of for a crown to be ruined after such a short amount of time. The straw that broke the camel's back this time was the fact that my mother also had a crown fall off a few days back, and booked an hour to get it resolved (she was willing to wait to see a dentist she preferred), only to be told that there was nothing that they could do then because they needed more time, and the next available slot is over two weeks out. I understand that covid makes scheduling difficult, but why schedule her in at all for an amount of time that can't resolve the problem, when she had thoroughly described the issue? A crown that has literally fallen off should be treated as an emergency dental need. The longer it goes without fixing, the much greater the chance of complication, not to mention the pain that biting causes my mother now. None of this even touches upon the fact that my mother and her husband have spent tens of thousands in cosmetic dentistry work there, only to have the office browbeat them on multiple occasions for delayed payments for standard cleaning when they were abroad and behind on their meal. When you have a customer who's clearly been loyal, who has already supported your business to such a degree, the harsh language is just unwarranted. It's no coincidence that over the years, I've gotten more and more pressure to leave reviews, with promises of gift cards if I do. Not a good look. I'm really disappointed to have forwarded so much business here. I'll be looking to switch providers. (One thing I'll note is that the vast majority of my hygienists have been solid. Ali, in particular, is great. I suppose if you're only looking for a dentist for cleanings, this office suffices.) read more

In the 3 years that I've been coming here, they've gone through so many different dentists. The most recent dentist I saw is by far the worst. Unprofessional, pushy, and doesn't seem to care about his patients. He didn't introduce himself when he walked in, then within 5 minutes of meeting, he made a comment about the way I look. He told me what was wrong with my teeth and the treatment plan, but when I asked if other alternatives were possible, he shut me down immediately and didn't bother to explain. I'm clearly no expert in dentistry and needed to rely on his expertise. I would have appreciated an explanation of the treatment and what led to my current teeth condition, so that I could stop doing whatever it is that I'm doing wrong before the actual treatment is scheduled. I have been going to Dr. Jones' office (now Optima Dental Spa) for about 6 years and have had everything done from routine cleanings to major cosmetic work. Have there been changes over the years? Yes. Have I always had a positive experience? Absolutely yes. The cosmetic work Dr Jones did for me a couple years back exceeded my expectations. She managed to fix a problem that had bothered me for 10+ years that no other dentist, cosmetic or otherwise, was able to fix. Ali is an incredible hygienist and the latest dentist, Dr Kemahli, seems great. Admittedly I know nothing of other patients' experiences but I am wondering if some of the negative reviews have more to do with the individuals' aversion to change than an honest critique of the services provided. read more

I've been going here for quite a few years but this place has taken a dive in the past year or so. There seems to be a lot of hit or miss with hygienists. I have gum issues and they recommended aligners knowing this, but making my issues worse. Put me in a retainer that was almost impossible to take off without even checking that before sending me out of there. Had me sign a legal waiver to stop the aligner treatment. No refund even though they saved on their staff time by me discontinuing treatment. What they are good at is limiting their legal risk and maximizing their revenue. It gets a one star only because Dr. Lynn Jones is still there. See her only, and don't get anything else done here unless done by her. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I ended up having to go here for an implant because they bought out the dentist I used to see and it was easier to stay with the place that had already started my care. Unfortunately that was a huge mistake. They messed up my crown 3 times. After the third time they told me I needed to go to a prosthodontist to make the 3rd crown fit. The prosthodontist told me the crown was faulty and that I had to start the whole process (impressions and all) all over again. The dentist himself at Optima, Dr. Polillo, was not great. Every time he gave me novacaine he jammed the needle into my mouth. Once I cried out loudly in pain because it hurt so badly. The only redeeming qualities of this place were the hygienists and the front desk staff who fortunately refunded all of our money because of the dentist and labs ineptitude. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I would highly recommend my prosthodontist though...Dr. Ko has been amazing (detail oriented, kind, and efficient) read more

I went in for a broken crown that your company made and I had a warranty on. You told me that you would not cover it because I did not do my cleanings at your office anymore - I moved cities and changed dentists!? If you believed in your work you would stand behind it. My crown was barely 5 years old and I have records of regular dental care. Further - I called and asked about the warranty when booking the appointment. No mention was made of my "voided warranty" instead I took a half day off work, drove in, and conveniently had x-rays taken (which I'm sure I will be charged for) BEFORE I was told of this very important detail. WHY in the world would i get a crown REDONE by you for $1700 for a warranty you wouldn't honor unless I drove to your office for regular cleanings until the end of time? You showed no consideration for my time or business and I find this not only unethical and slimy but also extra insulting given the current state of our world. A little consideration could have gone a long way. Instead you stayed focused on the money and forgot there was a human behind that check. read more

If there was an option to give 100 stars I would! Dr. Jones and her staff are so amazing. I suffer from EXTREME dental anxiety - to the point of crying like a baby while I'm there. Dr. Jones is so patient and gentle. She never makes me feel ridiculous or belittled, which I really appreciate since I already feel like a fool! The IV sedation has been key in getting me in the chair for work. The amnesia quality of it is helping to lessen my anxiety also! Added bonus! I recommend Dr. Jones to everyone I know! Especially people like me who have anxiety or phobias. There's a reason she's always in the top dentist in the Seattle area! Can't say enough great things! read more

This is the worst dental clinic I have ever been to. They told me I have a lot of cavities and need sealant on the rest of the teeth. I trusted them and got all teeth treated. One of the appointments was very messed up. DR. SHARMA came back from her maternity leave with a very small kid in the clinic. I had an appointment with her for treating one of the cavities. She was so distracted, she almost choked me with the wire that got entangled in her chair and she didn't even realize until I told her with my mouth numb and equipment inside my mouth. She left in between and the hygienist started polishing and adjusting the bite. In the previous appointments the doctors did the whole procedure till the end. The bite was so wrong that it pained for so long. I had to visit the clinic 7-8 times just for the same tooth. They tried to adjust the bite but due to constant drilling they created another crack. Got the filing done again but the bite was still not adjusted. The tooth got worse after their treatment. They messed up real bad on that tooth. And on top of it they said that they would charge me for visit if I still have problem with that tooth. Thanks a lot Dr. Lynn for making me regret the decision of getting treated by you in the first place. read more

The dentist is good, assistants are friendly. HOWEVER, I do have concern over their practice to prevent COVID-19 spread. (1) they told me I can wait outside until it's my turn to minimize wait time. What happened is they told me to come in and I ended up waiting for 15 minutes in waiting area with other patients. Dangerous situation. (2) Some of their assistants/receptionist were not wearing mask all the time! This is against the governor's order. (3) They are not enforcing mask wearing on patients! There's one lady not wearing mask and talking non-stop at the reception desk. High risk. Almost 4 months into this pandemic I still see they are not 100% alerted. The staff is so friendly & professional. They even remember the little details about our life and are so caring about our concerns. Ever since I was little I had white blotches on my teeth & I brought up concerns with it two years ago. They recommended a service called ICON and it was AMAZING! It completely got rid of my white spots and was fast and painless. Two years later and it still has lasted and looks great. I am so happy with the results. OutsTanding (to-da-t) Dr Lynn, and her tribe of expert staff members are the best my teeth and gums have ever encountered! So knowledgeable and friendly. Outstanding customer service. I had sleep apnea, really bad and didn't know. All I was told by family and friends was that I snored a lot. I did have problems sleeping through the night, but it wasn't until a cleaning visit to Dr Lynn, when she decided to look inside my mouth and noticed something abnormal in my throat, indicating that I was having problems breathing. I was then referred for a sleep study, where the results of the sleep study showed that I was only getting 79% of oxygen to my brains. YIKES! Long story short, she saved my life and for that, I am truly grateful! read more

Needed a new dentist after moving here not too long ago. Here are my thoughts: 1. I love the location, it's in downtown Bellevue, it's close to where I work and live so it's very convenient. 2. The office environment is very nice. Keurig, soda, bottle waters. 3. All the staff there are super friendly young ladies. 4. They do general dental work, like cleaning filling and such 5. I got my teeth cleaned and it was kind of rough, it hurt a lot for me and it was just rougher than my previous hygienist. I'm sure if I let her know next time she will be more gentle on me. 6. Dr Jones is a very nice lady, she will ask you want you want your teeth to look like, what your 5 or 10 year plan for you teeth is. In the end they are a cosmetic dental office so they are pretty good at that, I've seen some of her patients pictures with jacked up and nasty looking teeth then became very beautiful. So they will make your teeth beautiful no doubt if you are willing to pay the money. read more

When I first came here a year ago, I saw Dr. Ilya and his wife. Both great people who did great work. Fast forward a year and they've departed the office. I was hesitant with new people, but decided to book my annual cleaning anyways. The dental hygienist was super nice but when it came to cleaning my teeth, the water sprayed all over my face and even in my eyes during the entire cleaning. It was messy. Then the dentist came in. She checked my teeth, her tool slipped and it poked me. She blamed the slip in her tool on the smooth surface that needed immediate attention for a filling since a sealant broke (this was the same sealant Dr. Ilya did on me less than a year prior). She said she could probably do it without numbing since it was shallow. But then she asked me if I needed numbing. Why would you ask the patient? Didn't seem right. She then asked if I wanted to get it done right then and there but then corrected herself 5 minutes later saying she didn't have time that day. She then left the side of my chair abruptly and never gave me a proper goodbye. I found her pacing back and forth in the back room as I was leaving. Everything felt rushed and kind of bizarre. I went to schedule this filling and they wanted me to pay $92 before the appointment (will get into this weird system below). I had an uncertain vibe about everything so I cancelled right away and scheduled a second opinion with a dentist I used to go to and trust 110%. Well I got checked out and she said she sees no sign of decay and that she does not see a reason to get a filling. Not even the slightest. I felt scammed! I decided to wait to post this after I've received my check just so all my ties from this place have been cut. Their office has this weird system where you pay first and then they bill your insurance after and then the difference of your overpayment is saved in this account the office keeps. So for the past year, I have had a good amount of money just sitting there. I've never encountered an office that has spending accounts like that. I'd rather pay what I need to pay and not go through the trouble of requesting this money to be withdrawn. After 2 weeks since my visit, I emailed to see what the status was of this check that's supposed to be delivered to my home. I wasn't sure if my email went through, so I called the next day to see if they got my email, and the person on the phone said she did receive my email and that she had sent it to the Office Manager who writes the checks. She seemed annoyed that I had called, but if you got my email, why not email me back to tell me you got it and that you have forwarded it to the correct person? This is why the spending account system is a pain in my ass. I'm sure Dr. Jones is great for other services but for a general dental cleaning or simple procedures, I would go elsewhere. read more

It's always easy to schedule appointments and the location is very convenient, lots of parking. My whole family comes here and we all love it.
