When your appliances breakdown, it IS kinda of an emergency when it it something you use daily. Our Bosch dishwasher started displaying an error code. When I looked up what that error code was, I immediately thought: "Oh hell, this is NOT good." It wasn't... I called Optimal and Leo the owner got RIGHT back to me. Told him what the error code was, told him model number and about an hour later he was at my door with the new heat/pump element. No muss no fuss. But THAT is not all. Usually appliance repair folks are very...let's just say.....they don't really 'communicate' very well with the customer....NOT THESE FOLKS. Leo was very explanatory on the part, why it goes awry (every 6-8 years), what he was going to do, etc etc. He also REFUSED to take payment until job was done and I was completely satisfied. I have to admit, Leo and Carlos were not the first people I called when my refrigerator temperature dropped to below freezing-and continued to sink (it got to 18). They should have been. I called 5 other companies. One of them said they only serviced Virginia. The others could not be bothered to call back (one of them I called three separate times). When I called Optimal Repair, Leo himself picked up the first time. His first question to me was 'Can you provide me with the brand and model number.' That is exactly the type of question I wanted to hear. This was Tuesday afternoon, and he said he could swing by Thursday morning. I got a call Wednesday morning, with Leo saying that he had a job near me and could come by a day early if I was home. I was beyond delighted to have the option of him arriving a day early and immediately said 'yes.' Leo and Carlos showed up at the time they said they would. Based on my description of what was going on, Leo had brought with him the part that he thought was probably not working. And he was right. Leo then showed me on Amazon what the part costs, and explained with labor what the final price would be. I thought the price was very fair, and liked knowing that I was paying close to what the part costs. But here is where they really excelled. I told them that the fridge water dispenser was no longer working. This turned out to be a huge problem. Everything along the water line had frozen solid, to the point the water filter itself had cracked. They spent about an hour carefully heating up water to pour over the coils in the back of the fridge, and then replacing the connections on the filter which became brittle and broke under the cold. All the while cleaning up with a small HVAC they brought with them. They took their time and were careful. This turned out to be more problematic than the initial issue that brought them to my home. Leo then asked if I wanted to get a new filter through him, and left me with their spare so I could have water until he came back with the new filter. I also asked if he could get for me a new shelf (my shelf had cracked and my attempt at using plastic cement to hold it together was about to fail). He said no problem, and again, showed me what each item would cost before I signed off. My refrigerator is working once more. Leo and Carlos were everything I could have hoped for. Responsive, patient, arrived a day early, and did not flinch when the repair turned out to be more than we all thought. And quoted me a fair price, showing me what the actual costs of the parts were. They do every kitchen appliance plus washers and dryers. From here on out, I know who I am calling first if I have future appliance issues. And you should too after reading this review. read more
