The thing that stood out about this casual restaurant was the number of staff greeting and helping customers. Other than that, a solid spot for Italian food if you enjoy that cuisine and are ok with the prices. The menu has a pretty large selection of foods, from pasta dishes and seafood to pizza to parms, chicken/veal, ravioli, and salads. (A note: I don't always like going out to Italian restaurants because they can be pricey for the value [and i can't help but confidently think that i could make it for a fraction of the price], especially if the pasta isn't homemade.) I ordered the penne with broccoli rabe ($25) and for that price I would have wanted A LOT of broccoli rabe to be satisfied and perhaps a few more ingredients. It was tasty and filling but I didn't make a good choice there. The salmon penne was also well flavored, with some nice salmon pieces, rich sauce, peas. They also give you complimentary bread and what looked somewhat like garlic bread; both were good but added to the carbolicious experience. Service was pretty attentive. There's a 3% upcharge if you pay with a credit card. It's a bit dark in the restaurant, which adds to the nice ambiance. Parking is around back and seems not that big but we had no trouble parking. read more

This was our first time at Sanducci's tonight while visiting family. Nothing like a great Italian meal! From start to finish everything was hot and delicious. We weren't rushed and everything was timed perfectly. The staff were friendly & courteous. Our waiter Sean was fun and attentive. Highly recommend the Italian Nachos & Sesame Ginger Calamari. My husband loved the chicken parmigiana and especially the pasta that came with it. I ordered the Linguini Caciotta. Wow! What an array of flavors put together. I've been going to Santucci's in River Edge for over 30 years, and it continues to be one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The food is consistently delicious, the portions are generous, and the staff always makes you feel welcome. Their chicken parm is hands down the best around -- always perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I was impressed! I really liked the ambiance that it wasn't too loud but had a festive environment. It was perfect for my mom's birthday. Our whole group had a great time! Chicken Arturo was so yummy!! So tasty cooked with mushrooms, garlic and onion with a really balanced flavor. I got the cheese on the side which I prefer to be less rich. Loved the veg side and potatoes (definitely fried but very good!). My mom loved her Cappellini shrimp pasta, her husband enjoyed the shrimp parm, and my boyfriend loved his steak. Oreo cheesecake was to die for!! Not too sweet or dense, more of an Italian cheesecake as it was a fluffier texture and I LOVED it! It would be amazing for breakfast. The food is amazing and the owner Lisa made us feel like we were at her dinning room table for an authentic Italian cuisine Dinner . there menu is filled with all types of 5 start dishes but me and my wife love this particular dish called squid ink lobster pasta dish with extra lobster and scampi sauce with bread crumbs to top it off . I get the similar dish but I add angel hair pasta and the vodka sauce with a little Diablo twist when I tell you this is a one of one dish this is one of the best Italian dishes you will crave for . the brick oven pizza is so delicious you will literally smell the aroma when you drive by the restaurant. over all Sanducci's is the top 5 star rated restaurant in New Jersey If your ever in River edge New Jersey I highly recommend you to try out the great food and warm staff and P. I think we came to Sanducci's for my mother-in-law's (MIL) birthday. Her and my father-in-law (FIL) used to go to their old location before they moved like 100 feet up the road. There is a back entrance that is a bit weird. You park in the parking lot, it's on an incline and there isn't a lot of space. Plus, everyone has big-ass cars nowadays so there's even less space. You enter through the door and you walk up the stairs and it's pass a child day care and I think a tutoring center or something else, but the back stairway just gives off secret entrance/exit vibes. There is a front entrance too. We had a reservation but we still had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. This restaurant was packed really full. It was crowded and loud, lots of hustle and bustle. It must be very popular for family events because there were a ton of families there. When we finally got seated, I can't recall if it took them a while to bring bread or not, but if there was a wait, the wait was worth it. The bread was really good, not sure what kind of bread it was, maybe foccacia. It had a salty taste to it and when you're hungry, you'll eat anything. We finally ordered: my husband got a pizza (surprise, surprise -- because he doesn't get anything different), I got the black linguini, my FIL got the salmon penne, and my MIL got the spinach ravioli. My husband ate the entire pizza, yes, the entire pizza. He then regretted it afterwards and had to lie down when he got home. My in-laws really liked their dishes and they finished it pretty fast. I did like my black linguini, however, it came with the vodka sauce and I couldn't get it without it, and I hadn't brought my lactaid pills. I did my best to avoid the sauce but ultimately, I did have to endure it. I didn't finish because it's a lot of pasta, at least for me. We would've liked to get dessert but we were all way too full. And we already had cake at home for my MIL. I definitely recommend Sanducci's if you're in the area. Make a reservation because this place gets packed. The food is excellent, I think it's family owned, and I'd love to return to try different items on their menu. read more

Went for dinner on a Saturday night. We were pleasantly surprised to get seated right away at 6:00pm. We hadn't been here since before the pandemic and we were happy that the quality of the food was just as good. We started with the classic fried calamari and the buratta as an appetizer. The entrees we ordered were the short rib special with risotto, penne margharita, and penne with meatballs. All were delicious and we took all home for leftovers. My only critique is that we sat for a while waiting for our server to come back so we could ask for boxes and the check. Our hostess explained that she could seat us but our waitress would be a little while serving us, as the staff was eating their dinner. Restaurant did have outdoor dining but with the heat, we opted to dine indoors. This gave our party of 4 time to decide our orders. We chose items from their specials of the day. We started with stuffed mushrooms and the mussel appetizers. Delicious. Mussels had a little spice kick. Since we ordered from the specials, we had a choice of soup or salad and since it was 100 degrees, we opted for the salad. Again, choice of house salad or Caesar salad. All of our dinners were great. No complaints at all. To top it off, we had vanilla ice cream. We declined the offer of coffee. Lisa the owner introduced herself. So impressive. Another plus is that it is BYOB. I ordered the cappellini Mona Lisa which consisted of lump crabmeat, shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, and lite red sauce. as soon as I got the entree,I knew it was a mistake and I was not going to enjoy it. Four tiny shrimp, shiitake mushroom cut so thin and few along with so little crab meat!! If you measured all the pieces together, wouldn't even come up with a quarter cup, but the worst part about it was it had no flavor but plenty of parsley decorated on the plate to make it look pretty. There was everything wrong with it no flavor whatsoever too much pasta and if you measured all the ingredients listed, what was added to the pasta it was less than half a cup and it was all flavorless. I should've said something to the waiter and have them take it back but they never even came back to ask How was everything.!! Service was slow. I felt like they just fooled me into ordering something that looks so good on the menu. I will not be back and will never recommend this place, because they truly think they can charge people and give you nothing for it... Horrible and disgusting read more

Loved this cozy spot. We arrived a little before 5.m - they opened at 4:30. By the time we ordered our appetizer, the place was pretty full (with FOVID protocols in place of course). We started with: 1. Buffalo calamari which was amazing. Just the right amount of crunch and sauce 2. Lobster Mac and cheese special. They knocked this out of the park. Super flavorful and creamy 3. The spidini. This is usually hard to find and have to go to the city to get it. The flavors in the sauce were unbelievable. The house salad with house Italian dressing was a huge portion and can definitely be shared. I had the lobster squid ink pasta. This is one of the best pasta dishes I have had in quite some time. I usually don't like a cream sauce but this ones they hit spot on. And last- for dessert, the cannoil (made in-house). YUM! My family recently attended a party here. Obviously the party was help outdoors, due to COVID-19. There were two outdoor areas set up. One area was under a tent, and the other was directly in front of the restaurant. The restaurant did a fabulous job, and the food was delicious. I ordered the sole francaise. Catching our first visit to Sanducci's on a beautiful Indian Summer evening (Native American Summer to more sensitive readers under 30) we were treated to a wonderfully relaxed display of al fresco dining prowess featuring a primo tour of southern Italy. Thankfully, I must report that their outdoor setting was definitely not a chiropractic torture chamber of poker tables and resin chairs, but featured legitimate outdoor dining furniture obviously not trucked in from Caligula's garage sale. Revelation number two was the cuisine - fresh and inventive delivering specialties like squid ink linguini and pumpkin ravioli that made the 140 mile round trip the best decision I made this month. A repaste made even more delectable by service that was both warm and personable. In terms of general housekeeping, it's BYOB and while they do make you aware of a 90 minute table limit, no one was being led away in handcuffs for dragging their conversations over the limit. Defintely on the top of my list of best places to eat in the area! The food is consistently good and my favorite dish is the short ribs on the specials menu. You can definitely feel the effects of them being short staffed though. The quality of the service is still there but the food takes longer to come out, we had to order our appetizers and main dishes at the same time, there were no glasses for water/soda available so we were given plastic cups, etc. overall though none of that affects the most important part of the experience - THE FOOD. So long as you're patient with the staff and understanding it really doesn't make a difference as long as the meal tastes good. Would recommend making a reservation though they're always super busy and crowded so regardless of the group size it's good to have to avoid long wait times. read more

We have been eyeing this spot up for a bit now and happened to be in the area so we dropped in. We were greeted by our waitress Rose. She was a delight!! We started with Buffalo calamari, lobster Mac and cheese, and spiedini. The Buffalo calamari was really good with great flavor. The Mac and cheese was actually something that surprised me. It was fantastic, I'd really like to see this become a permanent fixture on their menu. The spiedini is something my girl always orders if the Italian restaurant has it, it's not often they do. It was def different from other places but still very good. I got the chicken Bella for dinner and it was delicious. I'm a big fan of their homemade pesto sauce! It was a very flavorful dish. I had plenty to take home and enjoy the next day. I had the Oreo cheesecake for desert, it was good but the cannoli my girl got was way better! All and all the service was awesome, food was delicious, and priced extremely reasonably. We will def be back in the near future. read more

I have been coming here since I was a kid and it's always a treat. I always get the chicken francese over linguine and nobody makes it quite as delicious as sanducci's does. We have also gotten catering from sanducci's for family parties which is always a hit with the family. We tried this place backed on a friends recommendation and we were very please. They have a very pretty outdoor patio with a pergola and an addition outdoor area with a tent and lights. The service was friendly. They only take reservations for groups of 4 or more do we just took our chances and the wait wasn't too bad. My husband and arrived at 8 and we waited maybe 20 min. We tried the fried calamari. It was ok. They brought bred with a nice sauce while we waited for our meals. My husband ordered the parppadelle (seafood pasta dish) and I ordered Capellini with crab meat and they were both delicious. Nice large portions which we were able to enjoy again the following day for lunch. My husband also tried the key lime pie and he claimed it was delicious. Super light and fluffy. I loved every last minute of this experience. Even sitting outside in the sweltering heat could not dampen how much I enjoyed this. The Bread with pepper sauce about ruined my whole dinner...I...just...could...not...stop! Then Italian nachos and the fried mozzarella (can't remember the name) came and, again, why...just why did I not stop myself!? I didn't even order the entree myself, I let the waitress and the wife decide or I would have gone super tame. It was a chicken and sausage dish that I slaughtered. That sausage is unbelievable! At this point I am like the guy from Life or Brian, "I'm stuffed!" "But it's wafer thin!" Yes, I will take the rice pudding... My only complaint is that situation I was in the rest of the night because I ate entirely toooo much food. The waitress was friendly and super attentive. Great family spot, the one star off is for service. Our family have been patrons of Sanducci's for over 2 decades. It saddens us to give this establishment 3 stars.The food used to be excellent but sadly the quality has gone down and the prices have gone up. The black linguini used to be my favorite dish! However, now it's just oily, soft, the lobster is tough, and the portion size has decreased. It doesn't taste the same. The rigatoni alla vodka never comes with enough sauce. We requested 2 to-go orders with extra sauce. Then when we called and explained that it was still dry, they were nice enough to bring extra sauces. However, they came in the smallest condiment containers. It was watery. It had no flavor. Not at all like it used to taste. Sanducci's is a staple of River Edge but this is not a new issue and was happening prior to Covid. We kept coming back in the hopes that our previous experiences were flukes but unfortunately, that's not the case. We're not sure what the cause of this decline is but we hope that this review inspires the management to bring back the old Sanducci's we all knew and loved! read more
