Kevin, one of the owners, got us set up and was extremely patient, friendly, informative, and kept the class going with a good blend of practice time and also individual instruction. Originally went here to recalibrate my bow, and I ended up coming out with a good bow and lots of wisdom. Kevin, the owner, helped me set up my bow and gave me the right arrows that fit right for my draw length. He also gave me a lot of pointers on how to better shoot my bow at the range. Tucked away in a business complex in Mission Viejo, this indoor archery range is simple, clean, and somewhat awesome. They've been in business for 25 years and know what's what when it comes to the bow and arrow! Having not practiced this ancient sport for many years, my expectations were low coming in, but I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. The rules were straightforward and shooting the bow was simple and fairly easy. The aiming part wasn't as easy... but I definitely improved by the end of the two hours! The team working there helped out with general instructions and pointers as well were all shooting. People started "getting it" about an hour in and balloons on the targets started popping pretty regularly. I finally got one right at the end! It was also pretty cool to see some of the more serious semi-pro type of archers there with their hardcore bows and compound bow setups. Make sure you call during business hours to make a reservation as they do not accept any other type of reservation. We signed up for one of their classes and it was a great experience! It was $25 per person for an hour lesson, including rentals. We had 6 people in the class and the instructor was hilarious as well as very accommodating to everyone in the class. Would 100% recommend this experience for anyone and everyone! Just to note though, besides my partner and I the rest of the class was all children. This location offers both recurve and compound bows, along with the appropriate arrows. The staff and instructors are extremely nice, welcoming and patient when it comes to correcting form. We had heard good things about this place and my daughter wanted to go there for her birthday so I was able to book five lanes for our family plus friend. Talked to Kay on the phone who explained everything and made a reservation for us. I did prepay to guarantee our spots but she suggested buying a punch card since it would save money. I always appreciate when a business does not try to upsell you. (Thanks Kay!) As we don't have our own equipment we needed to rent it all which was not a problem. When we arrived we were checked in and then sized and fitted for equipment. Kay provided thorough instruction and even gave us tips and coached us as she watched us shoot our first couple of rounds. Second time coming here, staff/instructor are super friendly and will give tips on how to shoot for beginners. You have 1.5 hours to shoot and will shoot in a line with all of the other archers. You have to wait for everyone to finish shooting before you can grab arrows and likewise have to wait for everyone to get back behind the red line to start shooting. I've only been to one other outdoor archery range in NorCal so I'm not sure how this range compares to other indoor ranges. But heads up that you are lined up very closely to everyone else and it kind of feels like being packed like sardines I'm personally not used to that as I've only ever shot at a free outdoor range. read more

Went here for my best friend's birthday. There were two sectioned off areas, and we were in the smaller side (group of 6 but I believe could've fit 7-8), which was nice because it felt private for our group from the larger section. The lady who worked there did an amazing job teaching us to do archery and even broke everything down strategically into sections for beginners. The place was organized and took safety precautions. My wife and I had never done archery so decided to go do something different and fun by visiting this indoor range. They have open range times for those with experience and special times set aside for beginner classes (check their website). A phone call to reserve our space in one of the beginner classes was quick and easy; we paid in advance which is required to secure your reservation. Your bow, arrows, and arm guard are provided. The class was taught by a fellow who had a great sense of humor and gave us step by step instruction on the rules of the range as well as detailed info on proper form which is the key to successful shooting. His assistance to every class member allowed each of us to dramatically improve by the end of the hour long session. I went from my first shot landing on the floor 20 feet in front of the target to popping a balloon in the bullseye. It's not as easy as you'd think! We arrived about 20 minutes early, which they recommend so that they can set everybody up with all the equipment and pick out bows. The targets seem to be around 20-25 yards away. We have been wanting to take archery lessons for years now, admittedly since watching The Hunger Games...don't laugh :-) Watching the prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes renewed this interest and luckily I found Orange County Archery through Groupon. Orange archery is located in Mission Viejo California. This place was awesome. I love Nikki, Kay and Vince they made a super easy, coming in and feeling welcome when we walk through the door. We came on a Sunday for my son's birthday and we were set up and given the rules and we're happy to participate as this was our first time. This is a family, friendly establishment, however, I think they do have rules as to how old you can be before you actually pick up your bow and arrows. Please check out the website. They have chairs and lounge chair for individuals not participating. They have drinks and a snack vending machine for when you work up a thirst or have a craving. We had so much fun doing this our first time and will definitely be back. We highly recommend archery for those who are Zelda fans or just want to get into the new sport of hunting game if that's your thing. we however, like our target and our balloons and we're totally fine.
