I took this course excited to finally get my license. The instructors are all very nice and give very useful advice. I struggled a little at the beginning as I was kind of nervous but Taylor came over and gave me words of encouragement which made it a lot easier. Each of the instructors really want you to succeed in this course and they do everything in their power to help you. They are always making sure all your questions are answered and they don't make you feel discouraged if you need more help than others. I definitely recommend taking this course whether you are a first time rider or an experienced rider. This course really helps you relearn the basics and refreshes your knowledge about the safety of motorcycle riding. I have always wanted to ride a motorcycle and finally at 40 I decided it was time to do something about it. I found OCMT on the interwebs and signed up for the class, 3 days, one weekday evening class and 2 weekend all day classes. I was nervous as all get out, have never been on a bike at all but when I got there Bobby and Taylor, my groups instructors were patient, passionate, knowledgeable and just plain kickass. I learned all the basics and became so confident on the bike that I aced the course and passed the written test. The best parts of the class are that I learned how to ride a bike and what to do in dangerous situations and how to minimize potential hazards and live thru, if it ever happens, an accident. I really Liked this course. The classroom portion was very informative. The course training (drills) was scary at first because I had never driven a motorcycle before. As the drills proceeded I became more relaxed. They provide Motorcycle, helmets and gloves for you to use during the training. Bobby, Taylor, and Adam are excellent instructors. May only wish was for the drill portion of the class to be longer, as a novice I would have felt more comfortable. read more

This class is a must take if you are already riding or planning to ride. I had only been riding a short period of time and thought I could learn enough by talking to other riders and learning as I go. Big mistake! I learned so much about what I was doing wrong that the instructors helped me with. My instructor was Bobby and he was incredible. He took the time with each of his students and personalized the training for each of us. He quickly identified weaknesses and then gave us tools to work with. By the end of the two day riding portion of the class my confidence was improved massively. Taylor had the same effect on the riders in his group as well. I took the class in Nov. 2016 and my range instructor was not good. Unfortunately I forgot my instructor's name. There were three range instructors: a young skinny tall guy, a guy with long hair and finally my instructor. During the range session, I felt very confident. I also felt very confident during skill test. At the end of the skill test I was confident that I passed the test. I was surprised to find out at the end of the test that I did not passed it. I did the skill test like how I did during practice. I wasn't too happy because during practice the instructor did not give me any clear indication that I was not performing well. The lack of communication during practice made me think I was performing up to the instructor's standard. The instructor needs to improve his communication, be more active with the students and give more feedback. The instructor gave me the option of retaking the test for $50, but I did not do it. I would of retaken the test if I felt that the instructor was good. Instead I got my M1 license by passing the DMV's written and skill test. The young skinny tall instructor had a bad attitude. I'm not sure if that's how he is or he was just having a bad day. He was not my range instructor but on several occasions introduced some of the riding maneuvers to the entire class. I asked him a question and he gave me a response that had nothing to do with my question. He did the same thing to one of the students when she asked him a question about a maneuver that he presented. Overall, I felt that OCMT's instructors weren't motivated to help the students. I also felt that I was not treated like a customer. They talked to me like I had to take the course. Even though I had a bad experience at OCMT, I still give it 3 stars because it benefited me. I had no motorcycle riding experience before OCMT. OCMT provided a bike, a safe place to ride and some basic instructions to get me started. OCMT gave me the necessary hands on experience so that I can learn on my own and pass the DMV test. I highly recommend this course if you have absolutely no motorcycle riding experience. Skip this course if you do have experience. Information on the maneuvers practiced during the range sessions, and the material presented during the classroom sessions are readily available on the internet. read more

I highly recommend this class for anyone that's thinking about riding a motorcycle. In addition to the basics such as shifting gears and turning, they'll also teach you emergency maneuvering and breaking, and how to react to various adverse road conditions. Plus they provide the motorcycles so you don't have to worry about dropping it when practicing. read more

This is not the kind of training that should be used for new people like me who are just entering the motorcycle world. This kind of training does not account for the time and patience that is required for new people. I remember the instructor in the classroom saying "the motorcycle world is hard, you are facing all the conditions of the environment. The car drivers never see you; they are expecting cars, the debris on the road also creates accidents. You are invisible and nobody expects you on the road, you have to use the right gear." All the things he said, and more, are true included the tough instructor. As always this is not all and it will be worse when the real motorcycle practice starts. The putting on the helmet is unpleasant; it smells really bad because other people have already used it, and there is not helmet that you can use with your prescription glasses. As the process of feeling incompetent never ends, you have to do 20 exercises correctly in 10 hours in 2 sessions of 5 hours each. This is the business. The instructor reads a guidebook and then instructs the group the steps necessary for each exercise. However, you don't have enough time to understand everything because immediately you have to execute the steps and do the things. But also remember that you have the helmet on your head, the listening process is in one way: the instructor says something, and you nod your head trying to indicate that you listen and understand. If it is not done correctly the instructor will look at you and talk to you with threats like "Why did you do that?"," What did I say about the exercise?", "Do you understand English?", "If you don't do it correctly, you cannot continue to the next exercise Do you listen? ", "Each exercise is the base of the next one and so on What are you doing?". Nothing encourages you to continue with the practice. At some point are things go out of control and you are out. The instructor calls you apart and says: "you are a danger to the group, you did not follow my directions, you have to turn off the motorcycle, go outside, and wait over there for some papers that I have to fill up." After that, you feel stupid and you don't have the courage to say anything; you sign the evaluation form accepting whatever the instructor writes on it. In my case, the instructor filled out a form which says "the student was unable to follow directions, balance the motorcycle, control clutch/throttle, shift gears, travel in a straight line, use a controlled breaking". He took me out during the 6th exercise. After reading this document, you have to remember that the instructor always said: "I have been certified instructor for many years". Do I respect that or argue/complain about that? At the end, you lose the desire to learn, your money and time; they do not return the money and ask you pay $50 more to take another class, so you can go through the same cycle with the same certificated instructors. Finally, the truth is that you feel so foolish and incompetent after all the things that have happened; there is not make sense to take another class-training with these certified instructors and partners of the CMST program. read more

I have mix feelings about this place. I'm not sour graping here just because I failed my skills test and written test. I did learn a lot, but I feel you should all know what my experience was here at OCMT. I'm not going to lie, after paying almost $300 my expectation after enrolling in this class was to pass and hopefully be on my way to getting my license with the DMV. Don't get me wrong they'll tell you upfront your not guaranteed on passing but it would help also when your already doing the skills test to at least give you heads up that your not doing so well and pick it up instead of finding out at the very end that you didn't pass. The teachers here at OCMT are good at what they do... which is riding a motorcycle but, I feel like they should bring themselves down to the understanding of say a newbie biker since this what they claim these classes are for from novice to expert. Throughout the class they used some terms that I'm sure some of the students couldn't understand, but prolly assumed we understood or as students should've asked more questions. It's hard though when some of the teachers are rather intimidating and rude. I was given the chance to go back for $50 more and do the motorcycle skills portion of the class again but I rather pass and practice on my own. read more

I just completed OCMT in Fullerton. I can't rave about it enough! First night instruction given by Vincent. He was funny, friendly, educated and thorough. Second day (first day on mc) my instructors were Bobby and Taylor. What a winning team!! So friendly, thoughtful, helpful and fun! They were extremely thorough. They explained everything very well, they told you ahead of time what to do, then gave a demonstration. I felt confident with their expertise. They were soooo nice. Bobby was patient and helpful, always made me smile. Bobby also taught our evening education class. He had many tips and scenarios which made for clear and concise instruction. Day 3 both Bobby and Taylor took time during and after EVERY exercise to give advise on how to improve. I personally am very hard on myself and think WAY too much. So their teaching style was constructive yet never demeaning. They were both great at positive feedback as well, which is a teaching style that promotes confidence. I highly recommend this class. I would even like to take it again to fine tune my skills. I think EVERY person who rides or intends to ride should attend this course. I learned alot of things I had no idea were necessary for motorcycle riding on the road. They even provide gear and a motorcycle to use during class. I believe then genuinely cared about me as a person and as a rider. The key I especially take away from this class is SAFETY !! I also, as a bonus, met some amazing people aka fellow riders. Single ladies take this course!! So many nice looking, polite and overall great guys took this session with me. We were a team. As a first time rider, OCMT provided excellent instruction and riding experience. I enjoyed the classes and received encouragement and thorough instruction, leading to my M1 licensing and succesful initial rides. I have since been riding on my own and with groups, and I'm thankful to have the knowledge that I received in this class. Bobby and Taylor both helped greatly while on the course, and Vince was a great classroom instructor. Additionally, everyone attending was encouraging and friendly, and there was no tolerance for mockery or competition. I signed up for this class not knowing how to turn on a bike, much less how to ride one. After the classroom portion of the class on Thursday night, we met for two sessions on Saturday and Sunday. I took the class with my 17 year old son and my 20 year old daughter. We did the morning sessions from 6:15-12:30 because we thought it would be too hot in the afternoon sessions and I am so glad we did. They provide the gloves and helmets; we just had to wear boots, long pants, and long sleeves. We had Bob and Taylor as the instructors for the hands-on portion and I can't say enough about them. They walk you through all the bike controls and assume you know nothing (which I didn't so I was really glad). Each exercise was built on another, and either Bob or Taylor would stop and talk to each one of us individually and tell us what we were doing wrong, how we could improve, or asked if we had any question. They routinely did this after every exercise or mid-way through. I felt like we got plenty of one on one instruction from these guys even though there were eight of us in the group. If someone needed a little extra help, they would pull that person aside (me being one of them), and go over things a little more slowly. They were spot on with identifying what we weren't doing right, and then we'd go out and try it again, and slowly became more and more confident. I was zipping through those curves by the end of the morning on Sunday. I really had a blast. The second day, Sunday, ends with a riding test and a written test of 50 questions which you must get 80% to pass, but I would say 90% of the information is reviewed in the classroom portion. I would highly recommend this class to anyone considering learning how to ride, and if you get Bob and Taylor you will be in the best hands. read more

This is supposed to be a beginner course but the instructors just assumed that we knew how to switch gears and what gears were what. I was never shown how to switch gears which ultimately failed me on the skills portion of the test. Also, I was not told what specifically I did wrong on the skills portion of the test, I was told thank you, maybe next time. In reading their website it states students are allowed one free make up, I am assuming its free because there is no price listed for a redo. I was never offered a free make up. I don't know how they grade the class but one rider in particular, who had previous experience riding and did know what he was doing, completely screwed up on the skills test but yet still passed. I'm not sure how that's possible. I'll be the first to admit I had trouble at the beginning of the course, however, the longer the course went on, I was steadily improving as I was told by the instructor and still failed. Shouldn't the test be graded on not only having superior riding skills but also on improvement and knowing how to correct errors. The skills portion was given after a number of hours of instruction. That test was not for beginners and to master it, I believe, many more riding hours was necessary especially for someone who was an absolute beginner. Very disappointed in how bias the class was and when it come down to it, I just wasted 16 hours of my life for nothing. read more

This course is a must for first time riders and should be required for any individual getting a motorcycle license in CA. OCMT classroom and field instructors are the best. They are professional and dedicated individuals that made the class informative and fun. As a first time rider I was extremely nervous about getting on and maneuvering the motorcycle. The instructors ensured our group had thorough and detailed instruction and demonstration on each exercise being taught. They provided comprehensive one on one feedback on what I was doing correctly and provided constructive and helpful feedback on how to improve in areas that needed work. This course was the best choice I made. I have never ridden a motorcycle nor do I know how to drive stick. This class taught me how to properly ride a motorcycle. My instructor was Bobby, and I really enjoyed working with him. He was a patient instructor, and he gave me positive feedback. If I did something wrong, he would tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it. He even tied my shoelaces, and held my phone so I wouldn't break it. He went above and beyond. I am a type of person that learns better hands on and understanding my mistakes, so having an instructor that can work with you individually, helps me as a student understand it properly. The bike did fall on me once on the first day out on the range. I sprained my thumb, but I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to be sent home, so I kept my cool. Honestly, I would recommend this course to any person who would like to ride. I want to come back within the year and take the advance class with my own motorcycle. read more

Ryan was my trainer and he did a perfect job! I've been driving motorcycles since my age of twelve but I missed the last 10 years and this training was awesome to brush up my driving skills. I am brand new to riding motorcycles and this course was so much fun! First of all I was surprised to see other females taking the class, which I thought was awesome. There was a real sense of community among the students and everyone was friends by the end of the weekend. The instructors really know their stuff too. They laid out several scenarios and had us practice different skills for maneuvering the bike. I was nervous at first but Bobby was there to help the entire time. He could tell me exactly what I needed to change just by the sound of my bike and was constantly encouraging me with great feedback. Not only do they want you to learn to ride, they want you to enjoy the experience. After this weekend I am ready to go pick out a bike of my own. I would recommend this course to anyone whether you're new to riding or you've been doing it for a while. Honestly so much fun and so educational. I am 17 years old and have really been wanting a motocycle to commute to and from college which is an hour away and to have some fun. I was really nervous getting into this training because I was afraid of dropping a bike id use from them. I also didnt know that there was so much more to a motorcycle than a throttle and breaks. It seems easy but actually riding it takes alot of work, effort, and commitment. These guys were amazing teachers and made it almost too easy. Anytime I got something wrong they told me flat out what I did wrong but instead of feeling dissapointed or emberassed, they let you know that you wikl make mistakes because well most of the time and in my case, it was my first time ever riding a real motorcycle and you can't be a boss off the bat. They teach you that safety is more important than looking cool and riding fast. They are so patient and so educational and they themselves ride so they give you all their personal experience and opinion. During the test I was so scared I was shaking. I thought I was too young and couldnt pass but I did on my first attempt because thats what they trained me to do. They are very forgiving and when somebody falls on a bike, they dont even touch the bike. They run straight to the rider. without even glancing at the condition of the bike or pavement. Took the novice class in April 2015 with Taylor and Bob as my range instructors. I'm up there in years, mid 60's, and wanted to set up for renting motorcycles while on vacation in relatively rural areas like Maui, the San Juan islands, or the central coast. Not planning to ride much in Southern California - too dangerous, in my opinion. Both Bob & Taylor were attentive, professional and encouraging. I rode some 40 years ago and was surprised how challenging it was to pick it back up after the long hiatus. That's due to their paying attention to developing skills like fast turns, slow turns, fast stops, swerving and the like over a compressed period of time; skills you're going to need on the road. There was 1 full classroom session, 1 classroon session after the Saturday session on the range, and 2 sessions on the range over the weekend learning to handle the bikes, which were small displacement bikes, about 100 to 200 cc's. I was very pleased with the experience, I passed both tests, but would be complimentary even if I hadn't passed since the training was challenging for novices and that's what you want; learn and make your mistakes here and not on the road! Three course sessions including two comprehensive riding skills exercises and exams and two classroom knowledge lectures made up for a well-rounded motorcyclist preparation program. Bobby and Taylor were professional, informative, patient and provided clear and easy to understand instructions throughout the course. Taylor added another dimension to the learning process by demonstrating the more challenging exercises before students were asked to do them. Bobby offered words of encouragement and provided positive reinforcement during every exercise and additional instruction when it became obvious that a student might be struggling to complete the exercise. It was carefully explained that this was just the beginning of our motorcycling experience, that learning was a continuous process and we were encouraged to consider other training opportunities provided by this excellent school. I strongly recommend this training program to whomever is considering either just beginning a motorcycle riding career, or who is coming back to riding after a lengthy hiatus. read more
