My Instructor was Bob. Bob was a cool guy. You will have a good time with Bob. Beyond that when knowing about the course they seem to have an early one around 6am and a later one somewhere around 12pm Saturday, Skip past the introduction class which is Friday prepping you for the course and the written test at the end of the course training everything was honey nut cheerios and your gonna have a good time. There were 2 instructors maybe depends on how big the class was. Mine was small on Saturday, after Saturday we met up after the course to discuss everything I was told there were spots opened in the morning which only lead me to one conclusion...fuck you Mr.sun. I think mainly if you ask about joining a earlier class or later class it will be ok with them if there is room. Which is awesome! Wake up at 5pm head to the course ends at 12pm you get to enjoy the rest of your day! I have the privilege in having Bob as an instructor. He was a great guy who definitely loved what he does and is completely ok with me asking him questions about shifting and how to know if I was in a certain gear. I definitely suggest and they encourage people to ask questions ASK QUESTIONS. Don't assume to know something because everyone is nodding there head. He definitely cared about his squad being confident in what they do which reflected on the riders. Bob is the way to go. Be more like Bob. At the end of the courses I ended up passing the riding and written course because of Bobs excellence. read more

They were excellent for 1 day course intermediate. Mr Schmidt was able to test our abilities most of the day. The only thing you need to worry about is put your front tire in the circle and concentrate. Bobby and Taylor were amazing instructors! They were patient, given that I have never ridden a motorcycle, but "real" with me what I needed to work on. I appreciated all the feedback because it helped me improve my skills and I can say that I feel safe, confident, and SO excited to now go get and ride a bike of my own! This is not just a "pass" class, the point of this class is making sure you are both safe and ready to ride on the street, whether you have ridden before or not. They give feedback to every single rider, giving positive reinforcement and telling us what we can work on. It is a very relaxing environment, and they understand everyone learns at their own pace. Highly recommended. They were awesome, professional, kind, helpful and nice. I have never ridden motorcycle before. I saw some bad reviews on yelp, so I was kinda afraid that I was going to fail. However, they were really nice and answered all my questions immediately, and they made sure if I understood what I was supposed to do at the range. Even I made a mistake and almost dropped the motorcycle, they nicely taught me what I should have done and what I could do from next time. They never stopped encouraging me by cheering me up. I am a also international students, and I dont really speak and understand English well. So I told them I feel comfortable by following other riders and look what I was supposed to do, then they let me follow other drivers immediately. They were like " I got you! No problem!" Writing test was not hard at all. Please make sure you scan the material before you take multiple choice test. read more

The 3 day class was very informative. Chris was my instructor. They were all very patient and helpful. Mind you, the bikes aren't brand new, it had some beating but it works. They provide water but not food. If you're in the cafeteria, bring cash for the vending machine. There is a vending machine and a change machine. The change machine will spit out dollar coins, unfortunately some of the machine doesn't accept the coin dollars... just bring $1 dollar bills. Thursday night: sit in class. You get to learn all the laws and rules of riding. You also get a feel of what you need to do during your riding course and what to expect. Saturday: all day field practice. You'll learn about your bike. You'll learn how to ride straight, how to turn, where your eyes and head needs to be. There will be a lot of exercises to help you build confident. They will also do some demos to show you what needs to be done. Sunday: all day field practice. You learn how to swerve, weave, and more turning. This is also test day. So be prepared. They're going to test you pretty much everything you've learned. Then you go into the written test. Do study, there are things covered in the class, but some are already in the booklet they give you in PDF email format after your register. Overall, I really enjoyed the class although I was a bit nervous at first. And yes, you might be sore after Sat, but you'll get used to it. read more

The program is awesome and well laid out, but the program isnt what motivates me to write this review. What got this place 5 stars from me is Bobby! He is probably one of the most righteous human beings I've ever come across and teaching is certainly his calling. When you catch on to what he's saying, he lights up and is genuinely excited with you. When you get it wrong, he is patient and encouraging. Even when I crashed, he was all about making sure I was ok in every way! I felt so stupid and embarrassed, but he reassured me a million times over. Great experience! 3 day class was $258 and that includes helmet, gloves, and bike. The instructors were professional, very helpful, and kind. Make sure you show up on-time (or early), bring your I.D. and wear the write shoes/clothes. They give you all the tips and help to learn how to maneuver a motorcycle safely. I just finished my class today. The reason I attended was to get a CA motorcycle license (I only have a Norwegian one). Due to having some experience previously, the first part was relatively easy. But the last day was both educational and challenging for everyone in the class. I am very glad to see that the instructors are extremely focused on safety and took great care of all the participants. All riders that passed this class deserved to pass, and are ready to ride in traffic. Great class, great instructors, and well worth my time and money! read more

I enjoyed taking this class. Not only do they go over basics of motorcycle riding, once you are more comfortable they will go over better practices while riding and they provide you with many tips. The classroom portion is very informative. The actual riding portion was fun. Taylor, Bob, and Mark are very helpful and patient. Don't show up late. I haven't ridden in over 30 years and was a little nervous about the class Information giving in the classroom is informative and important do the pre homework Everything that is on the written test is gone over in class and is in the book it's important to read it and highlight it. Don't take it for granted don't go out go home rest and study Ryan was my instructor during the course riding he was patient and professional he answered questions and made sure that we understood the course and what was required before we begin the demonstrations were likewise important to watch. They are very patient and understand that everyone learns at their own speed. The in-class session is also long enough to learn but not so long that you get bored and want to fall asleep.. especially since you will have been on the range for 5 hours. I took the IRC course. I hadn't ridden for 12 years so wanted to touch up on my riding skills. The one-day class far exceeded my expectations, with sound instruction on vision, throttle control, cornering, emergency braking, swerving. Jim was a fantastic instructor, who was very patient even with the riders with less experience and a slower learning curve. I highly recommend this class with Jim as the instructor. I recently took the motorcycle training course on 9/22, 9/24, and 9/25. Passed with flying colors without ever riding a motorcycle before. It is not an easy course though. There were a handful of people that did not pass the riding skills test. The instructors can be aggressive at times but they do that for your own good. They drill these tactics into your brain so it becomes second nature. The weeknight class consists of pure lecture, discussing the handbook. Saturday is mostly riding then some lecture in the classroom. Sunday starts off with additional riding, the actual riding skills test, then the written test in the classroom. One woman in my group took the course using her own motorcycle so just check with them beforehand if you want to do the same. read more

My son and I both were in Jim Schmitt class yesterday. My son a new rider and I very experienced but wanting a tune up course. We both got alot out of this class. We brought our own bikes some students used the schools bikes. I highly recommend this class to all. Jim was very good at making everyone feel comfortable no matter what their skill level was. Best Motorcycle safety course in the O.C! The instructors are very knowledgeable. If you have questions ask away! This class is not easy but manageable, I had no motorcycle experience coming in to the class and did great but still managed to fail the riding test. Why? Just to let you all know, the M&M Motorcycle Training and OCMT is actually the same place. That said, I had been wanting to learn for a very long time and after getting the funds to do so, signed up. You will have to book way in advance as the classes fill up fast. I reserved my spot about two months prior. The instructors (Vincent, Bob and Ryan were the guys who did my instructing) were all very friendly and just very pro. Being 5'3, Bob (who was my range instructor) made sure I was okay with the bike height I got originally and decided to switch with another student. Glad I did. We did a lot of cornering moves and just general getting to feel comfortable riding. It was an interesting group because some were actually motorcycle owners who needed a safety course because they never got their licenses or the bikes they had were too large to use for the driving portion at the DMV. For those out there with that problem, this course actually can be used as your driving portion for the license test at the DMV. You would still have to take the paper test but that saves you having to do that there. Plus you have way more time to practice at this course. I made some friends, some of whom weren't exactly pleased with their range instructor. We were divided up into three groups so though other reviewers here say to ask for a specific instructor, you are really only just assigned a group. Those same friends did not seem to be really compatible with their instructor. I didn't have him so I can't say either way. There were three days in the course: an entirely in-class day and two range days with a bit of in-class work afterwards. I took this course in early October and I was very glad I got the early morning class at 6am. By noon, the heat was hitting the 90s and the afternoon class was up next. And to be in a jacket at that hour was pretty heinous. Having an a/c class session afterwards was very nice indeed. Just pay close attention and take notes. The manual is very important so read that from cover to cover and also get a hard copy of the DMV manual, which has a bit more information that you need. I really can't speak highly enough of this place and their wonderful instructors, especially Bob. If you want to read a more in-depth review, I do have a link to my blog in my profile. To preface, I have been wanting to learn how to ride a motorcycle both properly and safely for the past few years, but I just wasn't able to pull the trigger on a proper course for various reasons. I finally gave in and went with OCMT. To sum my experience in two words: amazing experience Bobby was my instructor for the weekend and took a first timer like myself and transformed my confidence within 2 days. I discovered that riding a bike was easier and safer than I originally thought. In addition to the riding portion, the classroom portion reinforced policies, procedures, and gear requirements when it comes to ownership and licensing of a motorcycle. I would 100% recommend this course to anyone who's considering the thrill of owning and riding a motorcycle. I passed the basic motorcycle safety course today! I am 53 and have never ridden a real motorcycle. I have ridden scooters, mopeds, and love bicycle riding. I can drive a manual car... but not an expert. The students varied allot with my guess about half with no experience. They started with baby steps (that I clearly needed) but quickly built one skill onto the next. The instructors were very patient as other reviews noted. I don't plan on making the same mistake a buddy made who passed a class but didn't purchase a bike for almost a year. He had a total of the 2 riding days in class. Lets just say his ride home from the dealership was exciting. I have found the cost to be the same everywhere so I went with the yelp review and was close to my home. So where do I feel I'm at? I don't think I could of learned more in the short period of time. I read allot and watched lots of U Tube. I am a beginner. I feel I am capable of driving to an industrial area near my house that is empty Sunday mornings and practice and practice and practice. They gave me the basics but to get good at it will require work. My 18 year old son is interested in the class. When it is time I will send him here. I can't have a bigger recommendation then the safety of my own son. read more

Literally just walked in the door after completing the basic course and I cannot say enough good things about the instructors. The first classroom session Vincent did an excellent job covering the course outlined in the workbook. Often expanding on the text and giving real life experience. Range days.. Bobby and Taylor are awesome! These guys have a wealth of knowledge that they were more than happy to share. Nothing to be worried or intimidated about with these two. They give you all the tools you need to succeed. Personable, down to earth, these guys make learning fun. Cheesy as that sounds it's true. Orange County Motorcycle Training provided a positive, informative experience. I was so very pleased with the knowledgeable instructors. I have only had experience on a motorcycle as a passenger. I had never sat in the riders seat with the engine on until this past weekend. The first night in the classroom provided us with valuable information prepping us to begin our road training. I was really excited to take the course and was ecstatic when I passed both the range and written tests. I came to the class having never ridden a motorcycle, and was anxious about understanding the gearing. The manner in which we were taught on the range was perfect for the newbie. We had time with all three range instructors, who were all great, patient, and encouraging. I am convinced that I left the class with 1) practical knowledge of how to operate a motorcycle, 2) riding technique knowledge that will keep me progressing in a safe manner, and 3) great advice on gear (super-important). Overall the riding class that was taught by Bobby was pretty good. He was patient, encouraging and gave excellent feedback with regard to missteps on the course. On the last day however, we had a student who was absent, so we had to combine both classes. What a nightmare! The instructor for the other class (Taylor) was awful! He seemed arrogant, hot tempered, and offered no real constructive feedback. In fact, on one of the exercises he stated something to the effect of, "I'm going to be honest, that performance was pretty bad...like, the worst I've ever seen!" In addition, as Bobby was introducing a new skill, he stated something to the effect of, "Well although we don't teach it like this (new skill), here's how I do it; but I don't recommend it for you guys because you are still new to riding." What is the point of bragging about what you do, if it can't be used by new riders? All in all, dude really was a pain and I don't recommend him AT ALL! read more

I highly recommend the beginner's course it to any first timers; I had never riden a bike before until I got on the course. The instructors are phenominal; I can't say it enough. Bobby and Taylor are very patient, direct, informative, and friendly instructors who have over numerous years of experience to share with you. They are all about getting your confidence up before you get on the course; I made my share of mistakes on the course yet Bobby was very understanding and gave me pointers on how to correct the mistake. In the course of three days, I went from being able to turn the bike to doing correct turns. All of this is done on a closed course. ASK ALOT OF QUESTIONS! Get your answer before hopping on a bike. I had a great experience I learned a lot I feel very comfortable now riding on the street I recommend OCMT, they do a really good job and know what they are doing. Study the handbook that is free after you make the purchase it will be in your email use Dropbox download it, it's helpful and also GO to the DMV and grab the dmv motorcycle handbook study both and you will pass the written test with no problem. I took this course in Fullerton a few weeks back and can't say enough about how good of an experience I had. My instructor was Taylor, who is super friendly and also really informative! He was always willing to answer every question I had and even gave me words of encouragement as I am a very petite girl who was struggling. Nonetheless, Taylor never gave me any negativity and only positive remarks and eventually made me begin to feel comfortable on the bike. Bobby, who was also the other instructor during the course, was also super helpful. Both have a lot of experience under their belt and are always willing to give as much information about motorcycle safety but also as a way to have fun while taking the course. I took this course just to experience something new and I definitely not only learned a lot but enjoyed it as well. This course should be mandatory for all new riders. The knowledge, and skills taught over 3 days is invaluable, and life saving. The classroom class is full of information about the machine you will be controlling, and how it should be handled in he streets. The range days were really fun, and challenging. This was such an awesome experience. Everything from scheduling to completion of the course. I had to reschedule right out the gates unfortunately due to work, but Nicole made it a smooth and easy experience. Bob was my instructor, and I can't say enough great things about him. Took the class in order to prepare for the DMV test, and to learn how to ride a motorcycle. With no experience with motorcycles I left with a basic understanding of how to ride a motorcycle and how it differs from other modes of transportation. I am a pretty difficult individual to teach, but Bob was able to hone in on what I was not understanding without me even asking. Would recommend this place based on Bob's instructional capacity. The company is military and veteran friendly as well. They're very clear on everything. All the instructors are awesome and they care about motorcycling and introducing new people to it. Sign up to OCMT if you want to get your motorcycle. Do it with them first, as it will really tell you if you want to ride or not. For me, it was hard to get off of the bike. The basic rider safety course from OCMT was a great experience and a good investment in myself before riding. As a 30 yr old who had never ridden, I have to admit that I was intimidated about signing up for a course. I was very relieved to find that the instructors at OCMT were all very nice, experienced, and willing to help. They offered constructive advice and made sure you knew the realities of riding and how to be as safe as possible while riding. The company provides small cc motorcycles to learn on, so you can focus on learning the basic skills safely. If you don't own gear, they also have good condition gloves and helmets you can borrow at no cost. 5/14/2017 Just finish my class today. It was awesome, the coaches were great, just pay attention to what they say and you should be fine. I wont lie i was very nervous on the riding course. Thursday you get to review all the basic skill of a motorcycle. They teach you how to ride appropriately and what gear should you be wearing. Saturday hands on the bike all day. Sunday the same thing but this time you get evaluated 3 taste riding one by one i was very nervous but i made it thanks to the team i was confident and learn that riding a motorcycle is very dangerous but if you do the correct requirements you should be fine Good luck everybody just take it easy out there. read more

If you're wanting to start riding - start here! Unless you have a super knowledgeable buddy who is willing to teach you techniques for hours in a parking lot somewhere, I really don't know how else you would learn this valuable information that is essential to riding a motorcycle. Bobby and Taylor are awesome (and patient) instructors that guide you through the entire process of learning how to ride a bike - from letting the clutch out, to swerve techniques, to emergency stop practice, to basically any questions you can think of. In total, the beginner course for me was a Thursday night of classroom training (3 hr), Saturday afternoon (noon-6), Sunday afternoon (noon-6) of mixed classroom and range training. You have a riding evaluation and a written evaluation, and if you pass, you can skip the DMV skills test, get a discount on insurance, and other discounts. WELL WORTH THE MONEY! The price of confidence on a motorcycle for a beginner is priceless, really. These 15 hours, or so, leave you with the knowledge you NEED. Most students are complete beginners, so do not feel like you are not ready to take this class, THEY WILL GET YOU READY AND CONFIDENT. Cheers gents, thanks for the wisdom! read more

I am a somewhat experienced rider, so I came in with the expectation of being bored and just sleeping through it. Not only was this not the case, but the instructors engaged and interested me in unlearning all the bad habits i had developed prior. I don't think i can say enough good words about the class to truly do it justice, but I will try. Bob was my course instructor. First off, I have to say his BMW bike is probably the coolest bike i have ever seen. He is also informative, patient and extremely helpful in maneuvering the course objectives and informing students with what they did wrong. For anyone that wants to get their class M1, whether experienced or not, i would recommend take this class rather than testing out at the DMV. This is a way better road to take. Just finshed taking the beginners safty riding course. From the classroom time to field time i throughly enjoyed this course. I strongly recommend taking this course for anyone jew to riding. This class was well worth it!!! My Dude Robert and the other guy were super chill and knowledgable about riding . Very informative and they don't just give you the answer flat out they make you think about it , I assume so you can remember the answer when it's given. Choose the dirt bike not the Harley clone. Be on time ! And regardless your knowledge about riding listen to them Bob though he's the man ! This is a must take course for someone who is starting to ride. It was actually fun to start learning on bikes that are not even yours! Hehehe. The instructors are cool and very easy to talk to if you have questions. They REALLY pay attention to each rider and provide feedback on what the rider can do to improve. Just by watching how I maneuvered, Bobby was able to know what I was doing wrong and what to do to correct any mistakes. I believe the bikes are all 125cc which is good for starting off on. But when you get your own, you'll have to get used to the different gear ratios and amount of torque yours will put out. Overall, it was a great experience and am considering to take the other more advanced riding courses provided by Total Control. read more

Just passed and got my certificate past sunday 5/5/19. These guys were very professional. Theory with roger was good and very detailed. Bobby and tyler were amazing at the field. These guys dont mess around. My thoughts and perspective in the motorcycle world just broaden. I learned alot not just about motorcycle, driving in general.
